XCode 3.1 Crashes when iPod touch is plugged

Hello
I had an old iPhone SDK, where there is no iPhoneOS and iPhoneOS Simulator yet ,
instead of them, it contains Aspen and Aspen Simulator.
When my iPod is connecting and xcode tries to upload app I get the
error. (i had not signed it from apple yet, it's in progress now, so i
get error during upload)
Some days ago, I download latest iPhone SDK, and after installing it,
i have a problem - when iPod Touch is plugged, xcode crashes, because it can't
get a _AMDevice...USBID symbol. at
system/library/privateframeworks/mobiledevice.framework/versions/a/mobiledevice
I tried to replace this framework, from older sdk, but the problem
does not disappear. then I replaced
developer/platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/developer/library/xcode/plug-ins/iPhoneRem oteDevice.xcodeplugin
by file from oldest sdk, from aspen platform,
developer/platforms/aspen.platform/developer/library/xcode/plug-ins/aspensupport .xcodeplugin
after doing that, xcode does not crash anymore, but when i try to
upload my app to iPod i get an error that "not provisioned iPhone OS
device is connected", and iPod does not react to this, and I noticed
that the time between clicking build'n'go and the appearing of this
error is too short, imho. i think there is no attemt to connect to the
device, but in the organizer iPod is present.
SDK was installed after updating to iTunes 7.7, BTW, iTunes also crashes during upload apps.
I can't understand how i can fix this.
So is it correct to replace new xcodeplugin, by oldest xplugin from other sdk ?
Please advise.

which build of SDK need to use ?
can someone give iPhoneRemoteDevice.xcodeplugin from developer/platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/XCode/Plug-ins
and MobileDevice from /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A
I already try some builds, but only one work with iPod, but there is no iPhoneOS platform, only Aspen
BTW, what difference beatween Aspen and iPhoneOS ?

  • ITunes 8.1 freezes when iPod touch is plugged in, unfreezes when pluggedout

I've just updated my iPod touch 1st gen to 2.2.1, it was working and syncing perfectly for two days. This morning, when the iPod touch was plugged into iTunes, iTunes froze when the iPod was recognized by the computer. I tried plugging the iPod touch out of the computer, and iTunes almost instantly went back to functioning correctly.
If I attempt to start iTunes with the iPod already plugged in, it starts up frozen and does not function. I have to use Task Manager to manually quit the process every time.
This is all still strange since the only thing different I did from last night is download several podcasts and update one app. I've tried deleting these podcasts and uninstalling the app, but to no avail.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Dave,
Try putting the iPod into recovery mode and restoring it in iTunes as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
This would erase the contents of the iPod but you can check iTunes for a backup before restoring from recovery mode. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 provides more information about iPhone backups.

  • Itunes 9 crashes when ipod touch is connected

I'm having a problem with my ipod I've got ox s 10.4.11 and itunes 9.2.1 and an ipod touch third gen. 32 gb after having my ipod for a while i plugged it into my computer (a powerbook g4) and itunes crashes every time its connected, i reset my ipod and tried to restore it, which updated it to 4.1, and it will not let me restore my ipod and itunes still crashes when i plug my ipod in unless i put it into recovery mode, I've reset, and restored my ipod many times and i don't know what to do. currently my ipod is useless. and it seems that i have to buy ox s 10.5 so i can up grade to itunes 10 so i can use my ipod again...? is there any other way? to fix this?

More info: iTunes generates a standard WinXP Send Error Report/Don't Send error message.
    The Error Signature is:
    AppName: itunes.exe
    AppVer: 8.0.2.20
    ModName: quicktime.qts
    ModVer: 7.55.90.70
    Offset: 009fd1a7
I tried on another PC. Same crash. It seems either the problem is on the iPod Touch side, or some more general problem with iTunes.

  • Computer Crashes when ipod touch 2nd gen is plugged in

Every time I plug my ipod touch into my computer a blue screen comes up and tells me to shut down my computer immediately. This happened while I still had a warranty on my ipod so I sent it back, got a new one and things worked for a while. It now is happening again and I no longer have a warranty on my ipod.
The blue screen talks about bios and caches on there but I am not a computer person so I don't know what this all means.
    Please help

  • Com shows blue screen error message when ipod touch is plug in

    hey, anyone has this problem?
when i plug in my ipod touch, a message "new hardware is found" with name (still digital cam). then the com switches to a blue screen with error messages.
i need some help please.. thanks

One cause of this is that you have saved a picture on your Touch when browsing the internet on Safari (by holding down on the image & selecting save). These saved images seem to cause a glitch and the PC thinks you have plugged a digital camera in causing the PC to crash. Don't know of an actual fix yet. The only work around is to delete the pics prior to plugging in the Touch. If you really want the pic just email it to yourself via wifi first. Funnily enough it is not a problem if the pic was on your pc and you synced it to the Touch via iTunes.

  • "no default mail client" error when iPod touch is plugged in

I use my iPod with a Mac at home and a WinXP box at work. I have a new 2G iPod touch. Whenever I plug it in at work and start iTunes, I start getting this error. The error window will pop up once or twice and then go away, at least for a while.
"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
Yeah, right, like I'm going to do that. This seems to be coming from the program OutlookSyncClient.exe -- I don't have my iPod set to sync Calendars. So why is this happening and how can it be made to stop? Is iTunes trying to email someone? And why is Apple trying to get me to use a Microsoft email program? Insanity.

I just started getting that same popup error constantly, since upgrading to the latest iTunes version last night. I think in my case it's happening when the auto-sync to MobileMe is triggered. I don't have M$ Outhouse as my default mail client and don't want to make M$ Outhouse my default client, but I have been syncing calendars and contacts through it to MobileMe because it doesn't support syncing directly to the things I really use. Previously it worked OK without requiring me to make it my default client... what changed?

  • Strange noises when ipod touch power plugged and headphones cable connected

    Hi everybody,
this is my first post. It has been annoying me for a long time now.
The thin is, when I plug in the ipod via charger or USB cable and I want top listen to music while it charges i get this crackling noise and a high pitch one as background atmosphere which is ok if you listen to loud music but very annoying if you listen to calm music.
I want to connect it to my stereo and i found out that when I disconnect the power cable its allright. When I put the audio cable on the metal sufrace I just get the crackling noise without the pitch and when its plugged into usb and connected to my ipod I can modify the noise when i scroll on the touchpad. Its like scraching on vinyls but not cool.
I don't know what to do. I mean sometimes you want to listen to music AND charge your ipod right?
    Has this happend to anyone?
    Best regards

Well thanks for pointing me to that feature, I didn't notice it before, but nobody there really has the same problem.
They are complaining about not being able to charge and listen at the same time. This is histroy since iOS5.
I shure can listen to my music. And for example via bluetooth its no problem being connected and listen to music, even while I sychronize. But if I plug in the audio jack, and have the ipod charging I get this noises.
I hope the problem is now more precisely described.

  • Photoshop cs3 crashes when I touch the Menu Bar

Photoshop cs3 on my MacbookPro OsX 10.7.5 crashes when I touch the Menu Bar. Ive reloaded it with no result. Any ideas?

You're crashing deep inside Apple's OpenCL code (which CS3 doesn't use directly), apparently because Apple calls it as part of their drawing code.
You'll have to contact Apple about this - but of course, they'll blame the bugs in Apple's code on third parties.

Yes you can drag and drop music to the iPiod if you select Manually Manage Music and Videos in  iTunes.
    DaibhiN wrote:
You do not drag the music to put it on the iPod, you click into the iPod tab and sync it with your library.

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup and either turn off iCloud backup or backup to iCloud

  • IPod Touch shows plug into iTunes

iPod Touch shows plug into iTunes.  I did this, it took 2 hrs. to update then tells me it doesn't see the device to Restore.  I see the iPod icon in the left column under devices.

What fixes many problems in programs is to uninstall and reinstall. If you lose all your apps and music, and the problem is not fixed, I give you the right to curse as loud as you want.

  • After iOS 4 update on iPod Touch, iTunes crashes when iPod is connected.

I just updated my iPod from 3.1.3 to iOS 4, and after all of that, when I plug in my iPod Touch 2G [version 4.0 (8A293)] to my laptop, iTunes crashes. A window pops up saying "iTunes has stopped working," and then iTunes closes automatically. When I do not already have iTunes open and I connect my iPod, iTunes will open and then close a few seconds later with the same pop up box.
I tried seeing if it was a syncing or connecting issue, so I turned off automatic syncing and the problem still exists. Therefore, I think it is a connection issue.
*Note: When I was updating to iOS 4, I left and came back to my computer with it running on idle. Could that have had an effect? If so, how can I just redo everything?
**Another note that may be helpful is that while I do still have all of my music and videos in iTunes (which works totally fine with no iPod attached), the videos and music is NOT on my iPod. But, my apps all work fine on my iPod.
I would really appreciate any sort of help I could get for this problem. I was really looking forward to the OS update, but now I am disappointed because of this major problem.
    THANK YOU for your help!

I would try moving the existing iPod backup file to a safe locations and let iTunes make a whole new one.  The location of of the backup file is:
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP,  Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.

  • ITunes crashing (only when iPod Touch is connected)

It just started last night. Anytime I try to add music to the library or choose the folder to sync photos from, basically anytime iTunes has to access explorer to browse folder, it crashes and it doesn't give me any sort of error. It just tells me it has crashed and is reporting the problem. Like I said though, this only happens when the iPod Touch is connected. If I unplug it and then add music, it works fine but without it plugged in I can't add photos. Also, if I already have iTunes open and then connect the iPod, it crashes. I have to have the iPod already connected and then I can open iTunes.
Any ideas? I switched to using iTunes as my default player because WMP had too many issues. I don't want to have to go back.

  • When I browse to genres iTune crashes on iPod Touch 3rd Gen.

When I use my iPod touch and head over to the genres button, the whole music system stops.
But when I go to composers or something else, it will still play and work.
Anyone know how I can fix that?

Highlight the movie in iTunes, go to menu ADVANCED and select create iPod version.  Sync the newly created version over to iPod.  Will it play this time?

  • App Store keeps crashing on iPod touch 4g

I want to buy a game for my 32GB iPod touch 4g, but I am having a lot of problems with it. First off, the App Store ALWAYS crashes whenever I go to search for a game, so I have to keep restarting it. Second, the Home button is jammed, so I can't do a hard reset (I have to use Assistive Touch). Third, I'm assuming it might have to do with Assistive Touch as well, but I am having RAM problems. I can play some 3D games like Crazy Taxi or GTA Chinatown Wars, but according to an app I have called System Status, my RAM (256 MB) is averaging around 7-8 MB free, and when I try to free more space on the RAM, the app crashes. Sometimes I can get on the iTunes Store, but the App Store crashes 90% of the time while on the iPod. I don't want to sync my iPod to my computer because I'm worried I'll run out of storage due to all the music we have, and I don't feel like manually managing over 2,500 songs. Could I download the app to my MacBook Air from iTunes and then transfer it to my iPod WITHOUT syncing it (my MBA's library is empty, but I set it to not sync automatically)? I hope my questions make sense, and I really want to hear your replies, because I want to download this game very soon. If not, I'm putting it on my Android phone as a last resort (I still prefer iOS by far).

You can only sync with one computer. and y have to sync to get apps from computer to the iPod. You can sync using the manual method.
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
You can copy iTunes purchases from iPod to iTunes by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    Try resetting the iPod:
To reset the iPod without the hardware buttons,
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. All your wifi and bluetooth preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected. You will have to rejoin wifi networks and repair BT devices
