XCode 4 or ios 5 on Leopard 10.5.7?

Is it possible to run xcode 4 or develop iOS 5 apps on Leopard 10.5.7? If not, will I be able to run iOS 3, iOS 4 apps on an iphone with iOS 5? Thanks in advance.

The minimum OS X for iOS development support is 10.6.x.
To enjoy full iOS development support you will want to use Lion/10.7.3.
You can build and target a range of iOSs via configuration settings such as Base SDK/Latest(5.x) and Deployment Target 3.0, but I would not bother below 4.x now.

  • Where can I get iOS SDK for Leopard?

Hello! This is my first post, so bare with me! My question is where can I download iOS SDK for Leopard? It's not on the Developer site. It didn't come on my install disk... just Xcode. Any thoughts?

These links seem to work, at least...

  • XCODE 3.2 INSTALL ON SNOW LEOPARD FAILED.

I have just upgraded my Mac Pro 8-Core computer with the new Apple RAID card. I have two 1 TB hard drives created in a mirror RAID 1 with two 500 GB volumes.
Snow Leopard installed just fine on the new RAID set. I have green lights on all raid components as shown by the RAID Utility.
I tried to install XCODE 3.2 off the Snow Leopard install DVD (five pack version) and it acts like it is installing the package until you are down to the final 1 minute of the install and then comes up with a window stating "The Installation Failed". I don't know what the issue is.
I then decided to download XCODE version 3.1.4 off the Apple website, and that package installed successfully without any problems. I then decided to go back to the install DVD and install the "other optional software packages" and of the packages that I installed they installed just fine.
Is there some work around to the XCODE 3.2 install?
    Thanks
    Don-L

    I FIXED IT.....
    ALL WORKS FINE NOW.
    WHAT I HAD TO DO.
    1) INSTALL THE OLD OPERATING SYSTEM (INSTALL DISCS THAT CAME WITH THE COMPUTER) ON TO MY NEWLY CREATED RAID DRIVES.
    2) PATCH THE OPERATING SYSTEM UP TO CURRENT PATCH LEVELS.
    3) INSTALLED THE OLD XCODE THAT IS ON THE ORIGINAL INSTALL CD'S.
    4) INSTALL THE NEW SNOW LEOPARD OPERATING SYSTEM.
    5) INSTALL XCODE 3.2 PACKAGE INCLUDED WITH THE SNOW LEOPARD CD.
    6) ALL SHOULD WORK FINE.
I SUSPECT THAT IN THE PACKAGE INSTALL ROUTINE THE INSTALL CHECKSUM DID NOT CONFIRM A VALID INSTALL OF SNOW LEOPARD OVER THE ORIGINAL COMPUTER OPERATING SYSTEM.
THIS WAS TIME CONSUMING BUT EVERY STEP PRODUCED A "BIG GREEN CHECK MARK" CONFIRMING THE INSTALLS WORKED CORRECTLY.
I NOW ALSO HAVE WINDOWS XP RUNNING UNDER PARALLELS DESKTOP 4.0 FOR MAC RUNNING CORRECTLY ALSO.

  • Install app in ipad 5.1 from xcode 4.2 ios 5.0

    Hello All,
I have latest xcode for the snow  leopard which is xcode 4.2 with ios 5.0 and my ipad has 5.1 ios.
When i use organizer to install app it says the version of my xcode ios is not matching to the my ipad.
Please have a look at the attached screen shot for more detail
Please provide solution how I can install app in the device.
    Thanks in advance,

You need to update to the latest version of the iOS SDK, just like the message says.
That means you need to update OS X to Lion as Lion is required fo the latest version of the iOS SDK.

  • Xcode fails to launch on Snow Leopard

If I attempt to launch XCode from the dock (as a standard user), I simply get an error message (see end of his message). The same happens regardless of the way XCode is launched, ie, from Spotlight, from the Applications folder, from the Applications stack. However, if I switch to an administrators account, I can launch XCode successfully but ony if I launch from the dock; Spotlight launch fails with the same message.
I tried to redownload XCode from the App store but the App store version only supports Lion. What can I do about this apart from the obvious upgrade to Lion which I don't want to do just for the sake of XCode and am concerned about corrupting my bootcamp partition which is vital for me. I can't risk the upgrade to Lion if there is even an outside chance of losing my bootcamp partition as I have heard of from various forums.
Although I am an experienced windows developer, this is my first foray into developing for OS-X/iOS platform so I haven't got off to a great start.

Before giving up, make sure you can't download it from the App Store Purchase list. Sign in with the same Apple ID you purchased it with. I purchased Xcode 4 for $5 when I first got a Mac. I updated through the App Store through 4.2 before eventually updating to Lion. You can see Xcode for Snow Leopard still appears in my purchase list. I can't test this because I don't want to mess up my install.

  • IOS 6 and Leopard

Hi, all, embarrassing situation here, looking for some guidance.
My girlfriend has an iPhone 4S, which until a short while ago was running 5.1.1. Her desktop OS is Leopard 10.5.8, and she is running iTunes 10.6.0.
When she plugged in her iPhone to update to iOS 6 via iTunes, we got a confusing message: iTunes recognized that there was new iOS software, but when she clicked she got a dialog box saying that *iTunes* was completely up to date. So she just downloaded iOS 6 directly to her iPhone via Software Update.
Now we're in a bind that we didn't realize would be a bind. iOS 6 requires iTunes 10.7 to sync. But iTunes 10.7 requires OS X 10.6.8, which she doesn't have. We don't wish to upgrade her to Lion or Mountain Lion, due to some legacy PowerPC apps. So now we have a phone that cannot sync with her desktop. She has an iCloud account, but unfortunately was not backing up to the cloud; she was backing up to iTunes. iTunes now does not recognize the phone.
Now, *I* have Mountain Lion, and iTunes 10.7.0. When I plug her phone into my computer, it's recognized and I have the opportunity to restore to factory settings. But I would want to know what we're in for. I could back up her settings to my computer, but I don't have her music library or apps. If I restore her phone to factory settings on my computer, then plug it into HER computer, will she be able to restore one of her phone backups that resides there? Will that include the sync settings?
Can someone give us some guidance on what to do in this situation? Thanks in advance!
EDIT: And of course the missing piece of information was that by this chain of thought, iOS 6 isn't compatible with Leopard, or is at best poorly compatible, which is something we should have researched beforehand.

    Hi lkalliance,
No cause for embarrassment. This is indeed an easy trap to fall into.
You have two potential solutions: As you noted iOS 6 needs iTunes 10.7, and iTunes 10.7 needs Snow Leopard. If your GF's Mac can run Snow Leopard (check the system requirements), you can fix things easily enough by buying it: Call 800-MY-APPLE (in the US) buy the disc and upgrade her Mac to Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard can still run PowerPC apps, so for $29 her problems are over.
The other option which you alluded to is to migrate her iTunes account from her old Mac to your Mountain Lion iMac. That is easily accomplished with Migration Assistant. I recommend you transfer her entire user account from her Leopard Mac to your iMac, which you can then use to sync her iPhone. This will create a second user account on your iMac identical to the one on her old Mac - just be aware that her old PowerPC apps won't work on your iMac.
The first time you sync her iPhone to this new account you will get the dialog "this iPhone is synced with another iTunes Library" asking you what to do next. You will elect the option to "erase and sync", which will do exactly what it says - her phone will be erased, then all her apps and music on this newly migrated account will be synced to her iPhone.
Be sure to read the caution:
Important: Clicking Erase and Sync will delete any existing content currently on your device. The content will be replaced with whatever existing content is in the current iTunes library your device is connected to. If there is no content in the iTunes library, nothing will be synced to your device, and your device will be empty.
So make absolutely certain her newly migrated iTunes Library contains what she expects.
    Does this make sense?

    Hi,
I ran into mount error when installing xcode 3.2.6 and iOS 4.3 downloaded from https://developer.apple.com/devcenter/download.action?path=/Developer_Tools/xcod e_3.2.6_and_ios_sdk_4.3__final/xcode_3.2.6_and_ios_sdk_4.3.dmg.
I work on Mac mini with Mac OS X 10.6.
    Could anyone help? Thanks!
    Regards,

    Hi Ken,
Thanks for your advice! I would try to clean up for more free space. I just downloaded one dmg from another website linking to apple. I could successfully install that one, but very often the content in gdb window is empty. Even if the gdb works for some time initially, after loading some specific project, the gdb doesn't provide info any longer :-( Any idea?
It might be the best season in Shenzhen now. It is sunny, but not hot, with temperature from 25 degree centigrade to 30.

  • ICal home calendar won't sync after iOS 5 -- Snow Leopard

Since I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, my desktop computer's iCal home calendar is no longer syncing events from the iPhone. I'm running Snow Leopard, so I know the desktop computer can't sync through the cloud. But shouldn't it still be getting new events from the iPhone itself when the iPhone syncs with the desktop, same as it used to before iCloud?

Try something very simple first. Quit iTunes, reboot the Mac and restart the iPad. Then try again.
I had some issues when I first installed SL on my last MacBook, and I still have issues every now and then with the iPad not being recognized (now running Lion 10.7.3 on a new MacBook Pro) and this has always worked for me. You may have to reboot the Mac a couple of times - but try it and see if it works for you.

  • How To Do Bring Variables From TextFields In Xcode 4 for IOS

hi, i just started making iphone apps this afternoon and i am a COMPLETE noob. i am trying to make a program that does the quadratic formula, but i can't figure out how to imput the numbers and then have it do the math. i want it to use text fields, not having to make a number input system. the problem i run into is that it gives the error "invalid argument type "UITextField" to unary expression", i am guessing this is because they are strings and not variables. my question is how do you make a textfield bring in a variable, or, if that is impossible, how do i do somthing like that
    Thanks,
    dude1144

Alas, that doesn't work either (I had already tried that).  When I click on the Empty Icon I don't get an empty file.  Instead, I get a dialog box asking me to create a project.  Then when it's finished I get this:
Now, once I've done this, THEN I can do (because it's no longer grayed out) File/New/New File/Other/Empty (so this, at least, now explains why my submenu looked different from K T's: he must already have had a project created, while I had not).  But besides having all these unnecessary steps (since I have no interest in creating a project), it still doesn't give me just the simple text editor I used to be able to get; instead I get this more complicated-looking window with what looks like a debugger, which I'm not using:
On the other hand, if I open one of my existing C++ programs in XCode, then I do get just exactly the type of text editor window I used to be able to get just by directly doing cmd-shift-N.    So does anyone know how to get to this directly, without creating a project, etc.?:

  • Using Mac mail on iOS devices and Leopard Mac problem

My Mac is one of the last dual core types and can't upgrade to Lion.  But I have an iPhone and iPad that are upgraded to Cloud.  Now if I am able to get my Mobileme mail  on the mac, I can't on the other devices.  And if on the others, not on the Mac.  Is it possible to access the same Cloud account on all devices?  I've been through this with Apple and they say no problem.  But it does not work.  Can anyone walke me through it.  I have checked the Apple instruction sheet on this to no avail.

You should be able to use iCloud mail on your Mac, however you will have to enter the settings manually. Unfortunately you will not be able to use the other features of iCloud for which lion is required. (calendars, contacts etc)

  • Xcode - Downloading iOS Library fails: "...not found on server"

    Hi,
I have a problem with downloading the XCode library.
I get following error message when I try to download the iOS-Library/documentation at xcode->preferences:
"Failed to download documentation package for iOS 5.0 Library.
Documentation package was not found on server."
    For:
    - iOS 5.0 Library
    - Mac OS X 10.7 Library
I tried to reinstall XCode, but it's the same.
Even the same at another User account on this computer.
XCode Version 4.2.1, Build 4D502 (latest one)
    What could be the reason?
How can I get the library to XCode?
When I sign on at the Apple-Developer Homepage I can see all the library entries.
So it can't be a problem with my access rights.
    Thank you!
    Susanne

On Xcode 4.2 (4C199) for Snow Leopard, I had already had downloaded documentation a while ago.  Just pushed Check and Install Now and downloaded iOS 5 Library updates (372MB) and 222MB Xcode 4.2 Developer Library updates (222MB).  So it might work for you now.

    Hello, folks.
I'd like to get into iOS development.  I'm running on my trusty first-generation Macbook Pro with a Core Duo processor, so I can't upgrade to 10.7.  Is it prudent for me to begin development with a prior version of Xcode that would work with Snow Leopard?  I can't pull off a new Mac right now, but I want to make sure I'm not handicapping myself by beginning a version back.
