XCode & all the tricky settings...

Hi!
So, I am the slowest plugin developer in the world. I've got this set of 4 or 5 terribly clever plugins that I've been tinkering with since, oh, mid 2003 or so. I've finally got a spot of time to try to tidy them up and share them (probably as freeware).
So, trying to switch from Metrowerks (rest in peace) to XCode... I think it's nearly working but maybe missing part of my link?
In After Effects 7.0, I get a dialog box:
After Effects error: couldn't load plug-in "omino_color_extract.plugin" (problem with fragment "") -- bad parameter (-50). (48 :: 29 ) OK.
Questions:
1. What's the next logical step, to debug this problem?
2. IF it's in fact a link error, is there some way to trick XCode into reporting the problem before actually launching After Effects and clicking around? (Maybe a simple test harness that drives linkage or something...)

... ok. By squinting very, very hard at the XCode Target Settings for my project and SDK_Noise, I was at last able to get all my linker symbols lined up and accessible...
Whew.
I am interested to hear if anyone has a build-and-test flow other than "run it inside After Effects and see if it looks right", though... Anyone?

Hi,
Change the print settings manually by clicking the lowest drop-down within the print dialog (e.g. the application name, Copies & Pages within MSOffice.
Select Type/Quality and set the print quality as Normal.
You may seve the settings as a Preset from the Presets drop-down menu.

Thanks for responding...but still have a oroblem. Here's what I'm doing:
In Aperture I choose a "version" that has been Adjusted (croped, etc.).
- Go to "File"...'Export"..."Version"
- In next window for "Export preset" I choose "JPEG-Fit within 1024x1024"
- Click on "Export version"
The exported version then showes up in "Finder" under "Pictures"
- Next I open "Mail" (version 5.2)
- Adderss email to friends in England.
- Click on attachment (paper clip)
- Choose my "version" from "pictures"
- Back in Mail, click on "Format"..."Make Plain Text"
- Send
My friends receive it as "bmp", not JPEG, with no Metadata.
If I do the same procedure but under "File" choose "Export Master", they receive it as JPEG and also the Metadata.....BUT, of course, no Adjustments, such as croping, that were made to the "Version".
What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to save the "Version" as a "Master" and then send it as a "Master"?

Is there an automatic method of extracting all the presets, settings, etc. from every program in the Adobe Master Collection 5.5?
I am about to regenerate my Operating System Partitions from scratch & do not want to go through setting up each & every program in the master collection by hand.

Adobe does have some pages documenting where it keeps preference et. al. files. For example, this one for Photoshop CS5:

I do know that overlaying the contents of the Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings folder does restore most of the preferences. The Color Settings are in a file called Color Settings.csf in another folder (depending on OS). What I don't know is whether there are paths in those files that will differ depending on how you reinstall your system.
You'll want to reinstall all your plug-ins again, much the same as when you reinstall Photoshop. But you can make a copy of your Plug-ins subfolders from your 32 and 64 bit Photoshop installation areas just for good measure, to make sure you don't forget some of them.
As for other programs in the suite... You'll have to look for that info separately.

You can't. Restoring from a backup is all or none.
You can use a utility such as this one to extract the messages from the backup on your computer but you can't re-transfer the messages to the Messages app on your iPhone.

Though I have doubts for success, you might try a SMC reset. It can do no harm. Otherwise, barring suggestions from others, the Apple Store or qualified repair facility is the last option.

If you can receive mail and your connection to your ISP is otherwise working, but cannot send mail, then your SMTP settings are incorrect; the SMTP server port is wrong, your SSL setting is wrong, or the username or password credentials don't match what the ISP has, or your attempted accesses are being blocked or your ISP SMTP server is offline.
And in general, don't use port 25 for your outbound mail, unless your ISP specifically requires that; these days, that port is best left to communications between mail servers and (usually) not used by any mail clients.

T400, Backslash appearing as #, all the regional settings are correct though

I have a T400 laptop, its regional settings are set for english (ireland) and i have also tried the Irish(ireland) settings, but for what ever reason, the Backslash, which is located just above the "enter" key, when pressed brings back the hash# symbol, when pressing shift, it brings back the ~ , and i cannot find the backslash, unless i use charmap.
any ideas on how to sort this issue??

just did some more diggin there, under the "Text services and input languages" i have set the "Default input language" as "English(United States)-United States-International.
this has sorted the problem

Video feature request for all the Develop settings to be applied to video output

I hope you are planning on allowing all processes in develope module to be applied to video. I was a bit surprised that all were not applied.
I know this opens up LR to a bigger playing field and would love to be able to use the tool with moving picture for color and processing. The editing is not so critical but a good round trip to prem pro would be awesome. with updates links like affter affects and audition have.

You can use just about any tools for the videos...
The confusing part is that those listed in Lib. mode are sugesting that the dev. mode counterparts arent working.

You can apply just all the dev. tools to the video. Aside from brushes etc. SplitTone, Saturation, HSL, curves all working.
Syncing is slow... Do this:
1)Make your adjustments on a captured JPEG frame. The hit Shift+Command + C...
2)Exit Dev. Mode and enter Lib. Mode and select your video
3) Hit shift+command+v to paste the settings.
Much faster than using the sync mode or saving a preset.
It beats me why LR4 doesn't just capture an automatic frame of the footage (From whereever the playhead is) and the when we click Dev. mode just edit on that.
As of now we have to:
0) In Library Mode
1) Goto the Frame we need
2) Click Capture Frame
3) Select the captured frame
4) Switch to develop mode and make settings
5) Exit Develop mode and goto Library mode
6) Select video clip
7) Apply settings...
Even if adobe had strived for it, I dont think they could possible have complicated things any further. They'll get a grammy for this one ;-)
There is SO MUCH room in the library tab.... For ANY video clip... Just put the dev. settings right there for us to mess with. Why only put a few there
with crippled controls...
Why even have TWO MODES... What I hate in Lightroom and always have hated.. Is having to SWITCH from ONE window to the NEXT just to make adjustments with sliders that makes sense
instead of those crippled ones in Library Mode.
We have 2012, fast computers and faster minds. Why should we be crippled like this. Makes absolutely no sense.
Is Lightroom the best software around. IMO = YES.
But I sure hope that LIghtroom WONT be setting what we will come to know as a bar for standard. So much room for improvement. And there has been since V1.

HT5295 I have all the proper settings to auto download podcasts, but for the past two weeks, I am not getting them automatically according to my subscriptions, rather I have to go and download them manually. Is anyone else having this problem?

I have all the settings done properly for the podcasting app, but I am not getting all my podcast daily, especially the ESPN shows. The date of the shows are the dates in August, but after downloading, they show a date for 01/01/12. Anyone else have this problem?

I also download the podcast that I want and then 5 minutes later it says that this podcast is temporarily unavailable. I "Remove Podcast" and then select "Download Podcast" again and it downloads it. If I play it right away I get to listen to it. If I wait 5 minutes the Faffing thing is gone again.

How can I change a restrictions passcode without losing all the restricted settings?

We have two iPads for two boys... both are heavily restricted. One of my boys saw the passcode and I changed it by disabling and then re-enabling restrictions, only to be shocked when ALL MY SETTINGS were reverted to default and DIDNT come back after enabling restrictions again. How can I change the passcode on the other iPad without losing all the settings, especially the long list of blocked websites?

History in my search bar will not clear even though I have selected all the appropriate settings under tools/privacy etc. Is this a Firefox bug or am I doing something wrong?

when i go to Music > Artist > All, as you suggested, i see all the albums i have listed. doesn't really relate to my problem with artists with songs in one album, as well as song w/o album set, and the latter not showing up.
but that reminds me, why is it when i go to the All section from a particular artist and they do have more than one album (or even no albums), the order of the songs is in the order they are in the albums.. if i wanted the order it is on albums, i would have selected that album for example.. it would be nice if the songs were in alphabetical order when you're NOT browsing by album, making a particular song easier to find (what if you have thirteen albums for example and u aren't sure which album a song is on, now you have to scroll through a seemingly random ordered list to find one song, alphabetical would be SOOOO helpful!)

right you are! I keep wishing that iT would put them on the main menu - rather than a sub or sub-sub-menu, but there are probably few iT users such as myself that frequently switch between stereo & mono.
does anyone know of a script to automatically change from stereo to mono and back? I guess it's just as easy to go into a sub-menu than run a script...
incidentally, the apple help menus have not changed yet with the new version, every thing I found kept telling me to look in "advanced" rather than general.

Help! Photoshop randomly deletes all the Wacom Settings!

From time to time photoshop (cs4 and cs6) deletes our Wacom settings and we have to put every shortkey completely new in the wacom settings. how did this happen? how can we avoid that? or at least can we save the wacom settings somehow? HELP! thanx.

What proof do you have that any Adobe Software is even looking at you Wacom tablets settings? I can not think of any reason why Photoshop would even need to know what setting have made for your tablet for Photoshop or any other program.
Photoshop has setting you can set and change for how Photoshop reacts to your tablets pen pressure and tilt. That's about it. Photoshop does not have anything to do with express keys, clicks or touch any more then it does for you mouse buttons and keyboard keys. Photoshop just reacts to what they do if it relates to Photoshop.
I would think it is more likely that some Wacom or system security application the is deleting your Wacom settings. The Wacom Tablet Properties control panel application is what you use to configure your tablet. If you use the control Panel, Express keys or a touch gesture to configure your tablet. Your settings are stored in your user id settings. Each user get their own stored in a file named "Wacom_Tablet.dat". Where this file is depends on the OS and version your running. On my Windows 7 Professional system its in "C:\Users\User ID\AppData\Roaming\WTablet" and if your tablet supports touch there a second file in there "WacomTouch.xml".
Back Up the configuration file(s) and use your backup to restore your settings when they get deleted. You may also have to unplug the tablet restorer the setting file and then plug the tablet back in. There may be a monitor utility you could use to see what applications touch the configuration file to get a handle on what is deleting you settings.
