Xlsx docx inplace in udm_dispute

Hello.
I have the following problem:
in trx udm_dispute i can attach all kind of documents doc,docx,xls,xlsx,ppt,pptx etc etc.
When i try to display docx or xlsx or pptx with double click i have an word/excel error and it says that is not compatible.
In my pc i can do that without problem (windows7+office 2007)
Other people with same configuration similar (windows7/xp + office 2003/2007/2010 can't . I've configured the spro correctly.
Could be some settings in office that we shpould modify? Could be a Sap Gui version problem?
Who uses office 2010 seems to obtain an error while is opening a strange file *.tmp.
Any idea?

This is part of the config for disputes.
It is really as a BASIS setting
Search for the following config "Define Document Category for Attachments to Dispute Cases".
In here you will see the values for .doc and .xls
you need to copy the .doc and create a new one .docx.
I would check with a BASIS person that all of the other values are correct.

Web Location URLs for Office 2007 documents (pptx, xlsx, docx) not working

In our current Content Server solution implemented, each content has a Web Location URL and a Native File associated with it. The Web Location URL(for a content in Public security group) is of the following format:
http://ucmurl/groups/public/intranetcontent/CONTENT_ID.doc
So far when a user clicks on this link, they are just presented with an 'Open' 'Save' dialog box, which clearly shows that UCM identifies this file format. So for a Word 2003 document called test.doc, the Open-Save dialog box says:
Name: test.doc
Type: Microsoft Word document..etc.
The behaviour is the same for all Office 2003 documents, pdfs and images. However, it seems like UCM does not identify Office 2007 documents. When I check-in a content - test.pptx, and click on the Web Location URL, it prompts me to Open/Save a 'ZIP' file, which is what UCM does for any unidentified file formats.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
The file formats under configuration manager have been updated to include the following formats with PASSTHRU conversion (since we dont need any conversion on these):
pptx: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.presentationml.presentation
docx: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document
xlsx: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet
The desired functionality is that when the user clicks on web location url, UCM should identify these file formats, and NOT consider them as ZIP files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try these - if you're using IIS. If not, them something similar should fix.
Update IIS to include additional MIME types
Also, if you want to add all of the Microsoft Office 2007 mime-types to IIS in one step you can do this:
1. Stop IIS
2. Edit the metabase XML file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\MetaBase.xml) using a text editor.
3. Search for the <IIsMimeMap Location="/LM/MimeMap" â€¦> element and append the lines below to the MimeMap attribute

Can I make PDF from xlsx file with Acrobat 8.0 professional?

I'm using Windows 7 Professional (32-bit OS) with Microsoft Office 2007 Basic and have Acrobat 8.0 Professional. Newly installed on replacement computer (deactivated and reactivated license). Don't see PDF icon in any Microsoft Office software. Got great help in getting 8.0 added as a printer devise at SevenForums.com. But when I try to print (since I don't see the PDFMaker icon I'm going via PRINT), it gives me an "Error Printing" message. That got me to thinking and wondering if I can create a PDF using 8.0 Pro to convert these new style MSO file tags (xlsx, docx, and such)? When I tried to UPDATE, message said "There are no updates available at this time." I really don't want to update Pro to the 8.3 anyway mainly because when I had previously updated to 8.3, stuff just got a bit whacky. Any suggestions? Thanks for feedback.

Thank you Dave and Bill for feedback. I know that I'm using older technology with newer technology but for now that's what I've got to work with. I knew Acrobat would eventually stop supported AA8, so I've saved various update patches throughout the years. My earliest is AcrobatUpd814_all_incr.msp. Wondering if I can get earlier upgrade patch because am getting the below error message. Also, via periodic backup's I've noticed that I do have a lot of *.rtp (A_AcroForm_api_811.rtp and M_ACROBATPROFESSIONAL_8_0_HOMEPAGE_html4_810.rtp). Can I use this some how if I cannot find the earlier upgrade patches? Thanks, I know long shots.

After file encryption in Windows 7, Excel cannot open .xlsx file

I just moved all my files to a new laptop with Windows 7. I was using Excel 2007 and Windows XP on the OLD laptop. The NEW laptop has Windows 7 Ultimate and Excel 2010. I turned on file encryption (via Windows File Explorer) and now I'm
unable to open most Excel files.
The error message says: "Excel cannot open the file 'ABC.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file."
I can open the file just fine if I use the backup version from the old laptop. It appears that the Windows 7 file encryption damaged the file from Excel's perspective. No other applications are showing issues and not all .xlsx files are failing.
Any ideas, please?

This is not a solution but a possible work around to see/salvage the contents of your file. If you have a Google Account
Go to Google Docs (https://docs.google.com)
Log in with your credentials
Upload the troublesome files (xlsx, docx etc)
If you are lucky Google may be able to salvage their contents.
Once uploaded, you can always download the file from Google in a variety of formats

Error when deleting file: Could not find this item. This is no longer located in ...

We are setting up a new Windows 2012 server. Users access this server using a 'terminal services'. We have mapped some folders from a legacy server (different domain). Using group policy preferences, we map this folder as a drive for a user.
When user wants to delete some files, he get's the error: 'Could not find this item ..' The error is displayed to the user and it looks like the file can't be deleted. But when I press the F5 (refresh) button, the file is gone. My problem is very similar

When I create 'txt' (or 'pdf', 'zip') file, i can delete it without the error. When I create 'xlsx', 'docx', 'pptx', 'bmp', 'jpg', I get the error.
Does somebody have an idea, how can I fix the cause of this problem? (I can't tell to users to hit the F5 button everytime when they face this issue)

Split filename to file and extension

Hi experts,
Does any know a FM or class, which is released and I can use to get the file name and extension?
Normally I used the FM SPLIT_FILE.
But this FM does only exports CHAR3.
So I get a problem with new office-files (XLSX, DOCX)...

Can't open powerpoint files in keynote since Mountain Lion upgrade

Not having much luck and not sure which forum to post in as this could be a Mountain Lion issue, an iWork issue, but is also an iWork and/or IOS6 issue!
Until last week I had Lion on iMac and IOS5 on iPad. I was able to log on to my work network server (school network, I am a teacher) and open powerpoint, word or excel files in keynote, pages or numbers on my iPad. I then upgraded to IOS6 and now none of the files will open up on my iPad. I get the open in screen when I choose a file to open, then nothing happens.
In the meantime, I upgraded my iMac from Lion to Mountain Lion. Since I was having problems accessing my work files and viewing them on my iPad, I decided to buy Keynote on my iMac in the hope that I could get on with some work on iMac rather than iPad. I logged on to my school server and tried to open a powerpoint file and for some reason it downloads it as a pptx.exe and if I try to open it I get an error message saying "You can't open the application xxx.pptx.exe because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OSX". It shouldn't be a .exe file it should just be a powerpoint file! When I open Keynote and look for available files on my iMac, the file I just downloaded is greyed out.
Hmmmmm so I have an iMac, an iPad, two versions of the Keynote app (plus numbers and pages on the ipad) and can't open any of my files from my school network. That seems a lot of money in one pot Apple and something has changed from Lion to Mountain Lion, and from IOS5 to IOS6 which is preventing me from doing my work. IOS5 allowed me to open any ppt, xls, doc, pptx, xlsx, docx file from my school network so why since upgrading to IOS6 can I suddenly not open them??
Now having forked out for Keynote on my iMac, I have the same problem.
I am able to open attachments in emails and I am able to log on to the school VLE and access and open files. So it is just something to do with opening from the normal file system that I can't do.
I posted in the iPad and iWork forum and had no replies. However, Apple iWork team have contacted me after reading my post re the iPad issue of opening files from my network. I've provided info to them and am waiting for a response, but in the meantime I have now discovered there is also an issue on my iMac. Hopefully they will read this too or someone else will perhaps know what is going on.
It is a worry that I can't do any work using my Apple products seeing as I have bought them! I have had to go back to bringing my windows laptop home everyday which I hope is a short term solution. I have loved the fact that I could access everything on my school network from my iPad in the past and not have to drag a laptop around. I am also worried that this means pupils can't access the files too if they are using Macs, iphones, ipads etc and have upgraded to Mountain Lion or IOS6.

Thanks for the response but I think you've misunderstood the problem. I can not open any type of PowerPoint file off my server in keynote. This includes .ppt and .pptx files. (Also includes .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx in pages and numbers).
Even if what you said worked it would take forever to go through every file and save them all as ppt 2007. Plus of course, I don't know what files I will need when. There are hundreds of resources I need to access when I'm at home. I need the flexibility to view the files when i need to and on the go. Normally I can download them off my school network on to my iPad in keynote and edit them then I email them back to myself ready to use the next day or to save back to my network. Currently I can not download any Microsoft office file. So I am now forced to have to lug my laptop home everyday, rendering my iPad and iMac useless. I can't pre-empt what I'll need and save it as .ppt as that is completely inflexible and that won't open anyways as this is not an issue with the version of PowerPoint file. This is an issue with how all Microsoft files are downloading from my school network to my iPad and iMac. I want Apple to allow this to work like it used to before the upgrades in operating systems. I wish I hadn't upgraded as it worked perfectly. :(

"Set Associations" will not allow Office 2013 Programs / executables to be Associated to a file type

Have Office 2010 and 2013 installed (installing 2010 first, then 2013) and after Windows Update applied Office 2010 SP2 later on, all of my Office file associations (except for Outlook, it points to 2013 as
expected) open up Office 2010 programs. And I'm happy that some programs (Access for example) continue to default to Access 2010.
Ok, so the problem is that for those Office programs that I want to associate to 2013 versions (Excel, PowerPoint & Word as the biggest examples), when I go into "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default
Programs\Set Associations" and pick .doc as an example (I've also tried .xls, .xlsx, .docx) and click on "Change Program", then "More Options", "Look for another app on this PC", and finally navigate to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office 15\root\office15" to double click on excel.exe or winword.exe as appropriate, the selection is ignored (i.e. the icon doesn't change to the Office 2013 style and double clicking on .doc file opens it up in Word 2010).
I do understand there is a "Fix" by either repairing the Office 2013 install or I believe to have seen a Microsoft downloadable fix program, though I do not want to run these as I'm told they will reset
all file associations to Office 2013, and there are still a couple of programs I want to open up in Office 2010, till I get a comfort level with Office 2013. Also realize that once Office 2013 SP1 comes out, it will do the same thing that Office 2010
SP2 did and change the file associations to 2013, whether I want it to or not, hopefully by then I won't have much need for Office 2010.
Also, I find it troubling that the "Set Associations" will not allow me to select specific programs, and I wonder which other File Associations has Microsoft felt appropriate to restrict access.
Look forward to the feedback as it pertains to the above (which I realize is unique to my IT Testing needs).

For all users on this computer, please change associate program of the .doc or file type you would like to under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes.
For current user account, please change associate program of the .doc or file type you would like to under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes. If there is no such extension, please create new keys for it.

Encryption Type in Microsoft Excel 2013 (XLS file)

I am creating a password protected file of format Excel 97-2003 Workbook (.xls) using Microsoft Office 2013.
I have written a java program to read password protected excel file using POI API. I am able to read .xlsx file using this API, but I am not able to read .xls file. It throw error : org.apache.poi.hssf.record.RecordFormatException: Unknown encryption

Using same java code I am able to read .xls file if I use Microsoft Office 2010 to create this file.
As per POI API documentation:
Apache POI contains support for reading few variants of encrypted office files:
XLS - RC4 Encryption
XML-based formats (XLSX, DOCX and etc) - AES and Agile Encryption
I think in Microsoft Office 2013, encryption type has been change for XLS file. So I want to know that how can I solve this issue. Also please let me know how to configure Encryption Type in Microsoft Excel 2013 Excel file.
OS is Windows 8(64-bit).

Unable to open .xslm file in Excel from Document Library

When selecting edit on an Excel Macro file opens Excel Web App, with the warning 'Data validation', 'VBA Project', ... click Cancel and open it in Excel, but nothing in SharePoint will allow document to open in Excel.
Using the ribbon 'Edit Document' result in an error: We're sorry, we couldn't find a program to this document.
Ideas?

Let's eliminate the obvious:
Does the computer you are accessing the site with have Excel 2010 or 2013 installed?
Are you accessing the site using one of the
supported browsers: IE 8-11 (32-bit), Chrome (Latest), Firefox (Latest), Safari (Latest)?
Can you open other Office files (.xlsx, .docx, etc)?

520: Where to put my docs for use by Office? By ...

I am new to the Lumia 520. I want to use it in offline mode, that is, without the internet or phone usage. So - no Skydrive.
I want to view and edit MS Office documents, such as Word and Excel files, that I have created on my desktop PC. I can transfer these .DOC and .XLS files over the USB cable to the 520, using Windows Explorer.
--> But when I try to put them in "Meda / Documents" on the phone I get the message that "the test.doc file type is not supported on this device...". The same for .DOC, .XLS, .XLSX, .DOCX, .TXT.
They will go into the "Data" folder but of course then Office can't find them.
Note that I am able to put .JPG files into "Pictures", and .MP3 files into "Music". But nothing into "Documents".
Any help will be appreciated.

Office 2007 Attachments giving dump"Buffer table not up to date" in SOCO

Hi SRM Experts,
We have came across a strange issue. DOCX & XLSX doc type attachments are giving a dump " Buffer Table not up to the date" when the Buyer in SOCO press the button "Add to the work area".
This is coming only when there is some SPECIAL CHARACTER used in the description of the attachment e.g. _, -, . / etc etc.
The other attachment types are working fine. i.e. PDF or Doc with NO special characters used in the description are giving NO errors t
IS there any special OSS note for this?
I have already configured all the config settings in DC10, DC20 & DC 30.
Please help us out in this.

Thanks for the help.. But here the problem is not with extension only.
The problem is if there is a special character in the attachment description in Office 2007 doc types like XLSX, DOCX then and then only it is giving dump.
I tested without special characters in description with DOCX file it is working fine.
Please help out as this is becoming serious issue now.

To open Office 2008 for Mac documents (format .xlsx, .docx, .pptx) in Office for Mac 2004, you must download and install the Open XML File Format Converter. This article describes how to obtain and install the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac.

Unable to edit excel files on my Lumia 710

I am using a Lumia 710. I have synced it through Skydrive with my Laptop with Windows 8 64 Bit OS and MS Office 2010. My Excel & Word Documents are in the .xlsx & docx formats, hence presumably I should be able to edit them on my mobile. However, I am able to edit some of the excel files whereas in the others I am unable to edit. How can I overcome this?
