Xml file usage

A customer of mine is using a custom made Real Estate management software which extracts the properties' relevant data to an xml file of about 700.000 lines. I will create a website which will give the website visitor the ability to search for the available properties. I am not sure about which is the best way to manage the xml file. Should I use it natively and run the search queries on it? Should I export the data to an MS SQL Server database and run the queries on the database? I have never worked with XML before so I do not have a clue. Of course I would prefer to use the power of coldfusion.
The xml file attached...
Thanks in advance...

I would recommend putting it into a database.  An XML file that big will not perform well.

  • Wrong technical usages in xml file

    Solution Manager MOPZ is generating XML files with technical usages different from those I selected.
    I am attempting to upgrade to EHP4 for ERP with three Techical Usages.
    In my maintenane optimizer transaction I selected financials but in the resulting xml and text files I see Leasing/Contract A/R & A/P.
    As a result of this and other unseen problems with the xml file generation my upgrade fails on the execution of PREPARE/INIT/PREPARE_JSPM_QUEUE.
    Has anyone else seen similar behavior and if so how did you get around it.

    Hi,
    This is might be because of wrong configuration of system in solution manger. Please follow verify system configuration in solution manager with the help of below guide:

  • Calling XML file from Flash -- Usage of wildcard characters

    Hi
    We have a Flash file, tabs.swf, (standard tab interactivity) from which we are calling the XML file using the following code:
    myXML.load("tabs.xml")
    We are using this SWF file in many learning modules created using Captivate, FrameMaker, RoboHelp, etc. by just changing the content in the XML file appropriately. The tool creates a different folder for each module.
    Now, the challenge we are having is, there will be cases where we have to use the interactivity in multiple times in the same module. In that case, content developers can change the SWF file name on their own. But they can't change the XML name without going back to media designer.
    Is there a way we can use the same SWF file to call different XML files without manually changing the XML file name every time? We have a standard naming convention for the XML files -- Tab1_<ModuleName>, Tab2_<ModuleName>, etc.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
    Sreekanth

    you can edit the swf's name, and use this._url and the flash string methods to do that.

  • How can I generate IDOC(WPUUMS) from XML file in POSDM or in SAP Retail

    Hallo Retail expert,
                                I have following scenario,
    I have Retail Store who send me their daily sales report through Wincor Nixdorf Point of sale. There i am using standard POSLOG2 to SEEBURGER(its a middleware which act as Converter) xml format and then i post that data first in POSDM and then with BAPI i transfer or book that data to SAP Retail.
    Above is the one scenario which is working.
    This is the Second scenario.......
    I have some external Retail store, they dont have Wincor Nixdorf POS, so they send me their Sales Report through SEEBURGER(its a middle Hardware which act as Converter) and SEEBURGER Convert that Sales data to XML format. My question is....
    How can i upload or Convert a XML File into IDOC (WPUUMS)in SAP or in POSDM?
    any new suggestion are welcome.
    Thank you all in advance.
    regards,
    Niel

    Hi,
    1. To get the required XML Schema, use transaction code WE60 to go to the IDoc documentation -> enter the IDoc type you want to use (WPUUMS01). Flag control and data record. Then display the XSD by choosing Documentation -> XML Schema from the menue bar. Now you can donwload the XSD for usage in Seeburger.
    2. Create your mapping from the POS format into the IDoc XML format in Seeburger.
    3. Create an XML File Port in ERP or POS DM using transaction code WE21.
    3. To inbound the XML file from Seeburger into POS DM or SAP Retail Seeburger should trigger the function module EDI_DATA_INCOMING. Parameters for this FM are the Pathname to the XML file and the Portname you just created. Based on the port name the FM can derive the port type xml and the data will be handled as XML data.

  • How to create a text file or XML file  and add content through  code into it...

    Hi Everyone,
    How to create a text file and add content through the code to the text file eform javascript ......orelse can we create a text file in life cycle designer...
    Else say how to create a new XML file through the code and how some content like Example "Hello World".

    You can create a text file as a file attachment (data object) using the doc.createDataObject and doc.setDataObjectContents:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.450.html
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.528.html
    You can then export the file with the doc.exportDataObject method:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.463.html
    This won't work with Reader if it hasn't been given the file attachment usage right with LiveCycle Reader Extensions.

  • Reading XML file and skip certain elements/attributes??

    Hi folks!
    Suppose I have a XML file looking like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <!DOCTYPE dvds SYSTEM "DTDtest.dtd">
    <dvds>

    Bryan Singer
    </director>
    <format>
    2.35:1
    </format>
    </dvd>
    </dvds>
    In my Java application I want to read this XML file and print it on the screen (including all tags etc). So far, so good. A possibility that comes to mind is to create an XSLT script to do whatever it is you want - and call it from inside the program. The XSLT script can be stashed inside your .jar file by using getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("...")

  • Master-details query to XML file?

    Hi:
    I'm new in XML and Oracle. I want to create XML file from two tables (master-details).
    I made a small serach and tried some examples:
    Say we have these tables:
    CREATE TABLE "TEST_XML"
    (     "ID" NUMBER,
         "NAME" VARCHAR2(15),
         "AMOUNT" NUMBER,
         CONSTRAINT "TEST_XML_PK" PRIMARY KEY ("ID") ENABLE
    CREATE TABLE "TEST_XML2"
    (     "ID2" NUMBER,
         "NAME2" VARCHAR2(20),
         "AMOUNT2" NUMBER
    ALTER TABLE "TEST_XML2" ADD CONSTRAINT "TEST_XML2_FK" FOREIGN KEY ("ID2")
         REFERENCES "TEST_XML" ("ID") ENABLE
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML VALUES (1,'A',50);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML VALUES (2,'B',30);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML VALUES (3,'C',70);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (1,'AA',10);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (1,'AB',20);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (1,'AC',20);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (2,'BA',10);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (2,'BB',20);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (3,'CA',20);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (3,'CB',40);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (3,'CC',10);
    I want a query to create XML file contains data from TEST_XML table and for each row the related data from TEST_XML2 table.
    I did some tries (working in iSQL*PLUS):
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
    DECLARE
    v_ctx DBMS_XMLGEN.ctxType;
    v_file Utl_File.File_Type;
    v_xml CLOB;
    v_more BOOLEAN := TRUE;
    BEGIN
    -- Create XML document from query.
    v_ctx := DBMS_XMLGEN.newContext('select id,name,amount,cursor (select id2,name2,amount2 from test_xml2 t2 where t2.id2=t1.id) val from test_xml t1');
    DBMS_XMLGEN.setMaxRows(v_ctx, 10);
    DBMS_XMLGEN.setRowsetTag(v_ctx, 'CLAIM');
    -- Output XML document to file.
    v_file := Utl_File.FOpen('TEST_DIR', 'test1.xml', 'w');
    WHILE v_more
    LOOP
    v_xml := DBMS_XMLGEN.GetXML(v_ctx,0);
    EXIT WHEN dbms_xmlgen.getNumRowsProcessed(v_ctx) =0;
    Utl_File.Put(v_file,v_xml);
    END LOOP;
    Utl_File.FClose(v_file);
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(SUBSTR(SQLERRM,1,255));
    Utl_File.FClose(v_file);
    END;
    But hte output wasn't as I wanted:
    <CLAIM>
    <ROW>
    <ID>1</ID>
    <NAME>A</NAME>
    <AMOUNT>50</AMOUNT>

    Notice that for each details (from TEST_XML2) there is <VAL> tag which I don't need beside i want a query which is applicable on all environments.
    May anyone help me please......

    Saad

    The following looks like it produces your desired output. I used the WITH to simulate your two tables so I didn't have to CREATE them. This runs on 10.2.0.1. I'm not sure what bugs you are referring to as SQL/XML is stable in 10g that I have seen. I'm sure some bugs exist somewhere in it, just not with this usage. Just start with the SELECT statement to run on your system.
    WITH test_xml AS
    (SELECT 1 ID, 'A' name, 50 amount FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 2, 'B', 30  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 3, 'C', 70  FROM DUAL),
    test_xml2 AS
    (SELECT 1 ID2, 'AA' name2, 10 amount2 FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 1, 'AB', 20  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 1, 'AC', 20  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 2, 'BA', 10  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 2, 'BB', 20  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 2, 'BC', 20  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 3, 'CA', 20  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 3, 'CB', 40  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 3, 'CC', 10  FROM DUAL)
    SELECT XMLElement("CLAIM",
             XMLAgg(
               XMLElement("ROW",
                 XMLForest(id "ID",
                           name "NAME",
                           amount "AMOUNT"),
                 (SELECT XMLAgg(XMLElement("VAL_ROW",
                                 XMLForest(id2 "ID2",
                                           name2 "NAME2",
                                           amount2 "AMOUNT2")))
                          FROM test_xml2 t2
                         WHERE t2.id2=t1.id)
      FROM test_xml t1This solution works in any environment where you can issue a SQL statement from, be it SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, Java, etc.

  • Using a Global Session to find data in an XML file in Repository

    Ok, here is the scenario:
    1. We issue a company iPhone to each Field Sales Rep
    2. Each Sales Rep has an assigned Sales Support Rep in the Contact Center.
    3. When a Sales Rep calls the Contact Center from their company phone, we try to route them to their designated Sales Support Agent (if that Rep is available, if not they go to the Queue and wait for next available Sales Support Agent).
    At first we had all entries in 1 xml file but our Sales Force soon grew larger than we could accomodate in one xml file (my testing found a lookup limit of 121 rows in the xmfl file).
    I changed the script logic to first look at the area code and then do a lookup into one of 3 xml files based on the area code. For example, the first file contained all phones with area codes up to 350, the 2nd file for numbers with area codes from 351 to 700, the 3rd file for numbers with area codes from 701 to 999.
    The problem is that the script utilizes the Create XML Document function to search the xml files. This has resulted in the following condition:
    Error: It is not recommended to update the application as
    Engine heap memory usage exceeded configured threshold
    Do I create a global session for each xml file to hold that file's data?
    Do I just replace the "Create XML Document step with a subflow step to the appropriate global session for each xml file?
    Thanks in advance for help and or clarification.
    The recommended solution is to utilize global session variables to store the contents of the xml files.
    I found the following thread discussing just such a situation:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2047722
    I have downloaded Anthony Holloway's global session subscript but I am still unclear exactly how I utilize it in my base script.

    Ok, I just noticed that my initial post comes up somewhat out of sequence. The very last questions I had (after the included graphic) ended up before the graphic. Here are the questions I had:
    Do I create a global session for each xml file to hold that file's data?
    Do I just replace the "Create XML Document" step with a subflow step to the appropriate global session for each xml file?
    Thanks in advance for help and or clarification.

  • Parsing an XML file to a table

    Hi,
    I am looking at a scenario where right now we have a daily data feed that is an xml file that is approx between 1 to 2 GB in size. Using Java code, this file is parsed and one by one, the records are inserted into the DB (Oracle 10.2). But as the data feed is growing larger, so is the file size -- which is resulting in more time taken for this process to run.
    I do realize that the ideal scenario would be to stop using the file as a source of feed. But this is beyond our control.
    I looked at using sqlLoader but as I understand it requires a csv based file. In my case, I would have to convert the xml file to csv, which again might be a huge operation to be carried out daily. (Edit: Am I wrong? can we use Sql Loader here?)
    Thus I am exploring options if there could be a way to write a PL/SQL procedure that would parse after taking this xml file as an input and load the data into a table. Any suggestions/directions will be hugely appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ak
    Edit:
    I also browsed through a few questions asked previously here and I came across this: Import Large XML File to Table
    My situation is similar and as per the suggestion here by A_Non, SECUREFILE BINARY XML storage can be used. But the problem I have is that I am on Oracle 10.2 while this option is only available in a later version, if I am right.

    Thanks a lot for your reply Odie.
    Exact Oracle version is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    A couple of doubts here:
    1. The file size would range 1-2 GB (and can go beyond) Is SQLLoader also an option feasible in this scenario?
    2. The link you mentioned has this line: Storing the XML document in Oracle Database using Binary File (BFILE) -- How is this different from Binary XML in 11g? I am confused.
    3. With respect to storage space usage, should we be concerned about the storage space/ memory that the operation of loading the file in this (temporary) table will take? Because right now, the xml feed file is residing in the webserver where java code iterates through it and inserts each record in the table. Now this will change and technically this file will have to go in the DB box.
    We do not have the xsd for it as right now we retrieve a few selected tags from this xml, parse and store it in a table (columns mapped to tags). Below is the sample xml. This is one such record and there are thousands below it. I had to change things because of data confidentiality but it mimics the original.

  • Error handling in parsing XML files.

    Hi.
    Is it possible to handle the error generated by DocumentBuilder elsewhere, as it parses down an XML file? In my test-program, I am parsing (using SAX) an XML file, and testing whether it is valid under a certain schema. If it is valid, I would then generate a console-output tree of the XML file. Otherwise, it would just display the error messages (wherever they are in the XML file).
    This is what I have.
    import java.io.IOException;
    import javax.xml.parsers.*;
    import org.w3c.dom.*;
    import org.xml.sax.SAXException;
    import java.util.*;
    public class XMLTester {
        private Document document;
        private boolean state = true;
        public XMLTester() { }
        public static final void main(String[] args) {
            if ( args.length != 1 ) {
                System.out.println("Usage: java XmlTester myFile.xml");
                System.exit(-1);
            String xmlFile = args[0];
            XMLTester xmltester ;
            xmltester = new XMLTester();
            xmltester.parseFile(xmlFile);
            if (xmltester.isValidXML() ) {
                 xmltester.printContents());
        public void parseFile(String xmlFile)/* throws ParserConfigurationException,
                            SAXException, IOException */{
        try {
            DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
            factory.setNamespaceAware(true);
            factory.setValidating(true);
            factory.setAttribute(
                      "http://java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/properties/schemaLanguage",
                      "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema");
               DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
                document = builder.parse(xmlFile);
        } catch (Exception ex) {
             //ex.printStackTrace();
             state = false;
        public boolean isValidXML() {
             return state;
        //..print-out methods here..
    }Thanks!

    Nevermind.. I figured it out after a few thoughts.

  • EHP4 - Stack XML file related issue

    Hi,
    I have the following two issues from DSWP tcode (or solution_manager):
    1. From DSWP code -> Change Management -> Maintenance Optimizer, New
    Maintenance Transaction and i select the ERP system , then i select the radio button Enhancement Package Installation after which it is showing a drop down from where i can
    select EHP4 installation and second drop down i can select support
    stack 03. But if i do the same thing again by coming out and going back
    in on the same day it is showing only support stack 01, Next day again
    for one time it is showing.. --- Why is it like this ?
    2. Also after selecting the EHP4 version, support stack 03 it log's on
    to the ERP system and it comes out with lot of components from
    which if i select some of them and deselect some of them as per our
    need, it continues to next screen and confirms the file from download
    manager and also the XML file gets's created but unfortunately the XML
    file contains all components including the one we deselect because of
    which we ended up in doing all shown components last week. We
    are in a stage of applying another technical usage and the xml is
    created with all the components again. Any idea how to avoid this ?
    Thanks,
    Murali.

    Hi,
    The problem might be configuration of your system in SMSY transaction ...Because if some componenets you have selected there will come as selected by default...
    Moreover go to SAP Note 1134872 - Maintenance Optimizer: FAQ for Stack Delta Files and related sap note to this note which contains problems related to MOPZ and stack xml file..
    Thanks
    Sunny

  • Problem with Stack XML file

    Hello,
    We have an ECC 6 system with EHP 4 SPS 5 and we watn to install a new Technical Usage (IS-OIL, IS-PRA and IS-UT)
    In order to do that I have to supply an xml file created by the MOPZ.
    I created a new MOPZ transaction, in the phaze "Update Options" I selected : Enhancement Package Installation,
    Afterwards I selected in Target Enhancment package stack : SAP ERP Enhanecment Package 4 on NW7.01 - SP Stack 05
    We do not want to upgrade the Stack to a latter one.
    I have selected Oil & Gas with Utilities and continued.
    The Sack XML that was created contained SAP-APPL, SAP-BASIS and SAP-ABA in patch level 8. we do not want to upgrade these components.
    Is there a way to install a new Technical Usage without upgrading these components?
    and if there is how can I create XML file suited for this situation?
    Please Advice,
    Zvi Gilinsky

    Hello,
    There is an equivalence of Support Package levels between EHP stacks and baseline ERP 6 stacks. Note 1064635 has a list of these equivalences.
    In any case, stack 5 for EHP4 of ERP should include stack 5 of NW 701.
    By your description it looks like you are having a Maintenance Optimizer issue. What is the Maintenance Optimizer stack level?
    Best regards,
    Miguel Ariñ
