XML within a XML message
Is it possible to send a message that contains an XML as "text" and it was read it using a Function Module?
Is there a length restriction for defining a Data Type for field that will hold the XML?

Hi,
CDATA is the solution for your problem. With the use of CDATA you can put the nodes one one string or either retrive he XML.
Refer
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/bb/576658dca511d4990b00508b6b8b11/frameset.htm
/thread/107795 [original link is broken]
Reg CDATA Section in XML
OR
You can even set the MIME type of the page to "text/xml".
while creating the page if you create it with extention .xml, the system would automatically set this for the page.
and just place the string holding the XML in the layout .

Hi. I was wondering if it is possible to have xml data within an xml. I used JAXB to generate the codes that I needed and have created a test application and test xml file. However, I get an error when I place the xml data between the xml tag. I want to be able to retrieve the xml data between the tags like all other data.
an example of the xml portion that causes a problem is:
<xmldata><samplexml>

<type>3</type>
<subtype>0</subtype>

specified executable program to be ran

<location></location>
</samplexml></xmldata>
I want to be able to retrieve and manipulate the data between xmldata. So far, I keep getting errors because the compiler is looking for an end tag for xmldata but finds a start tag for samplexml. I tried putting it in quotes, but that doesn't seem to work. If anyone knows of a way to do this, I would appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.nevermind... i think i've figured it out. for those who are wondering how to solve this problem, normally the following character "<" used as an element content would generate an error because the system thinks it is a start tag... in order to escape the reserved characters in xml there are predefined entitties that may be used. Predefined entities are a means for preventing the XML processor from throwing an error or refusing to parse your XML document. Therefore, you use them to represent characters that you don't want to be interpreted as markup.

XML Forms with Expiring Message Date
Hi,
I need to create a XML form with Expiring Message Date i.e the messages should not be visible in the iview after entered expiring date. Kindly let me know how can I achieve this.
Thanks & Regards,
RaviHello Ravi
This can be achieved through the Time-based Publishing service provided by SAP. To make sure the service is active for your repository, go to System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge Management > Content Management > Repository Managers > CM Repository (if that's the kind of repository you're working in). Then select your repository and make sure that 'tbp' is in the list of Repository Services assigned. If not, assign that service and restart the portal.
Then, within KM Content, enter the Details menu of the folder within that repository for which you'd like this service activated, then go to Settings > Lifetime and click the 'Enable Time-Dependent Publishing' button. This will activate the service for that folder.
Then in your XML form, you can provide the Lifetime properties "Valid From" and/or "Valid To" to specify when a message should be active, and when it should expire. At that point, anyone who has read access to that folder would only see the messages that are within these active dates.
Hope this helps! For more information, see SAP's Lifetime of Documents documentation.

RaviHello Ravinder,
Can you please post the complete stack trace, it seems to be some fields are getting truncated i,e data sent from the program to the proxy object might be violating some length restrictions.
Please check your message interface field lengths and what is being passed to the proxy.

ESB/File Adapter - XML files containing multiple messages
Hi,
In all the examples on file adapters I read, if files contain multiple messages, it always concerns non-XML files, such as CSV files.
In our case, we have an XML file containing multiple messages, which we want to process separately (not in a batch). We selected "Files contain Multiple Messages" and set "Publish Messages in Batches of" to 1.
However, the OC4J log files show the following error:
ORABPEL-12505
Payload Record Element is not DOM source.
The Resource Adapter sent a Message to the Adapter Framework which could not be converted to a org.w3c.dom.Element.
Anyone knows whether it's possible to do this for XML files?
Regards, RonaldMaybe I need to give a little bit more background info.
Ideally, one would only read/pick-up small XML documents in which every XML document forms a single message. In that way they can be processed individually.
However, in our case an external party supplies multiple messages in a single batch-file, which is in XML format. I want to "work" on individual messages as soon as possible and not put a huge batch file through our ESB and BPEL processes. Unfortunately we can not influence the way the XML file is supplied, since we are not the only subscriber to it.
So yes, we can use XPath to extract all individual messages from the XML batch-file and start a ESB process instance for each individual message. But that would require the creation of another ESB or BPEL process which only task is to "chop up" the batch file and start the original ESB process for each message.
I was hoping that the batch option in the File adapter could also do this for XML content and not only for e.g. CSV content. That way it will not require an additional process and manual coding.
Can anyone confirm this is not supported in ESB?
Regards,
Ronald

How to extract the actual XML document from soap message?
My problem is " how to extract the actual XML document from soap message? "
i just want to extract the attachment i.e. (pure XML document without any soap header or envolope).
i could be ver thank full if u could solve my problem.
[email protected]Hi,
This is some skeleton code for extracting an attachment from a SOAPMessage.
import javax.activation.DataHandler.;
import javax.xml.soap.*;
import javax.xml.message.*;
Iterator allAttachments = message.getAttachments();
AttachmentPart ap1 = null;
while(allAttachments.hasNext()){
ap1 = (AttachmentPart)allAttachments.next();
//Check that the attachment is correct one. By looking at its mime headers
//Convert the attachment part into its DOM representation:
if(ap1.getContentType() == "text/xml"){
//Use the activation dataHandler class to extract the content, then create a StreamSource from
//the content.
DataHandler attachmentContent = ap1.getDataHandler();
StreamSource attachmentStream = new StreamSource(attachmentContent.getInputStream());
DOMResult domAttachment = getDOMResult(attachmentStream);
domAttachment holds an xml representation of the attachment.
Hope this helps. -
Need to reference file name within the XML Output
Not sure if this is possible, as I'm new to the livecycle/XML world. But I need to be able to reference a file within the XML output from the PDF.
The Scenario is that a pdf form of a business card will be issued to 50 franchisees for them to type in their names and mobiles, click submit and the XML file to be sent to myself, and be imported in to InDesign populating their data ready for printing. Up to here I have it working perfectly.
However as each franchisee have a combination of up to 5 logos to place in the bottom corner to save having to have various templates with different combinations of logos and having to ensure the correct templates are used. I intend to reference each companies combination as an EPS and make the reference within the xml out and have it import directly in with the other data. I can type the code directly within the xml but I would like to have the form reference it directly in the xml output. Is this possible or am expecting to much of livecycle? Any help/advice greatly appreciated.
DavidHi MadhavaGanji,
I have post how to validate the file name, header row against definition table which stored the file name and column definition.
Take a look and see if this is helpful.

Validation of XML within InDesign CS5 document using schema (xsd)
Hi,
Can any one suggest me how to validate the XML within the InDesign document using xml schema (.xsd) file.
Can this validation be done within the Indesign like DTD validation.
Thanks,
GopalI personally don't work with XML in InDesign too much.

403 Error Transmitting the message to endpoint for XML file to XML file
Friends,
This is my 4th day learning XI and getting below issue.
I'm trying to follow the steps to transfer XML file to XML file scenario and when I drop the sender XML file, it seems the file has been picked-up but it does not generate the output file.
I checked in RWB for the message and found below error:
2008-01-04 13:09:48 Error Transmitting the message to endpoint http://sappc:8000/sap/xi/engine?type=entry using connection AFW failed, due to: Received HTTP response code 403
I tried to access http://sappc:8000/sap/xi/engine?type=entry from new browser window and I get the same error "403".
I'm able to access http://sappc:8000 fine.
I would appreciate help on this.
Thanks in advance.

AshishHi Ashish,
As usual use our XSLT mapping to do it, its pretty simple using XSLT. But you can also achieve this with other mappings but XSLT is simple for this kind of job. Can you post the target structure in XML format. So that it will be easy for us to help you in XSLT.
Thanks,

Not able to prompt errors.
Hi,
Your error message are not displaying because u does not made Message-Resoucrce property file (Resource Bundle) when you make it .
give it entry in
struts-config.xml
<message-resources parameter="ApplicationResources" />
and
define key and corresponding error message to key in this ApplicationResources i.e
#Error Resources
label.search.ssNum=Plz Enter correct ssNum -
ABAP mapping XML inside another XML
Cross posted to ABAP Objects
From XI we want to make an abap mapping.
The input xml looks like this:

<ns0:mt_dummy xmlns:ns0="http://kmd.dk/phh/externalEventEngine/pfhaen">
<details>
<Navn>Nielsen</Navn>
<Adresse>><ns0:mt_dummy2 xmlns:ns0="http://kmd.dk/phh/externalEventEngine/pfhaen"><Details2><Vej>tingvej</Vej><Husnr>75</Husnr></Details2></ns0:mt_dummy2></Adresse>
</details>
</ns0:mt_dummy>
One of the fields in this structure <Adresse> contains another xml structure. It is this structure we want as a result of our ABAP mapping. First we get the value of the field <Adresse>. This field contains the actual xml structure that we want to map. We convert the structure to xstring and run it through a new parser and create our output document.(See code below).
The code works fine if we just use a normal xml structure, but when one of the fields contains a XML structure and we want to parse this structure, we get the error. Is there anything we have missed, or is this not possible in ABAP mapping ?
If we test the code with SXI_MAPPING_TEST we get no errors, but in runtime we get the following error in SXMB_MONI:
The XML page document can not be shown
The XML document must have an element at the top level

endmethod.Hey,
It seems like the output is not a valid XML,
(I guess that the input XML is different from your test).
XML must have one element at the top level,
for example:

Ilan

Shani

is not a valid XML,
A valid XML should look like:
<mt_dummy>

Ilan

Shani

</mt_dummy>
In order to see the in-valid XML, press on the right-click mouse on the i.e error text,
and chose "view source". -
"Error while using XML iview" with XML iview template
Our portal platform: HP-UX, WAS 6.40 JAVA, EP 6.0 SP14
We created an XML iview using XML iview template and configured the XML source URL with RSS feeder addresses such as"https://forums.sdn.sap.com/rss/rssmessages.jsp?forumID=41". And then select RSS to XHTMLB as the XML transformation format and save. When I try to preview the iview, I always got error "Error while using XML iview, please contact your system administrator". Here is the log and among which I found an error "java.net.UnknownHostException: news.163.com". Does this indicate that the Portal server is not able to interpret the address of the URL host?
