XPS project in ISE Project Navigator

Dear Community,
I am having a weird problem, which I cannot find a solution in the documentation for.
We have an XPS design, which so far has only lived in XPS, i.e. the whole workflow has been in done using XPS and SDK alone.
Now I am doing a few upgrades and want to use the ISE 14.7 synthesis and simulation tools. For this I created a new Project Navigator Project and imported the system.xmp file as a source. I then generated a top HDL source from the PN menu and wanted to Export the Hardware Design to SDK with Bitstream.
However when I run this synthesis and Implementation finish but generating the bitstream throws an error that it cannot find a port from the UCF file in the design.

However I can without problems export the design to SDK without a bitstream. It is very hard to find Documentation on this workflow and what I find is from ISE 11.x, which is often outdated as the new tools seem to have a lot of automation.
So my question is : Do I misunderstand the workflow? Is exporting to SDK without the bitstream enough, since I could program the FPGA from SDK and then use the generated download.bit in impact (which is what I have done with the XPS only workflow so far). How would I then generate the Bitstream in ISE? Older documentation was talking about updating the bitstream with the SDK elf, but I cannot find that option.
Just for information the ISE Project basically only contains the system.xmp and the generated top module. No other files. The UCF is in the XPS project.

PS: If I am too incompetent to google correctly and have not found the relevant documentation describing the workflow for ise 14.7 I am happy with a link.

I think I found the problem in this case by accident just now.
As I mentioned previously the design was being used as a XPS only design before I modified it. Because I our development is happening under Linux, but the Files are stored on an NTFS drive I had to specify a custom makefile in the XPS design. The file was based on the automatically generated one from the EDK.
The change made was simply running the synthesis command via bash -c "...".
When I moved to importing the XPS design into project navigator I did not take this out assuming that the problem would persist. Just now I removed this design file when I retried these steps as I tested it on a local linux partition(initially I had the same errors). For some reason the errors did not show up anymore and the Bitstream gets generated and exported to SDK.
I am guessing the project navigator makefiles are completely different from the XPS ones, which is why this now works. I didn't anticipate that..
I wil accept this as the solution to the problem.

Removing hidden directories from Project Navigator

Hi everyone,
I've searched the forums and even googled it... but couldn't
find any answers. I'm using subversion and it creates hidden file
directories for my project, but when I use FlexBuilder, I see these
directories in the Project Navigator. Is there any to hide them or
at least delete them (without deleting the actual files)?

Hmmm. Mirrored RAID is designed to protect against hardware failure, but I am unsure of the ramifications when a disk directory is damaged.
Try selecting the individual drives in the array and running repair disk on them, one at a time. It might be possible to determine if the disk error affects both, or just one (I'm going to bet that it is both. In other words, the disk error is mirrored).
If I am wrong, and only a single drive shows up with a disk error, you should be able to erase that one drive, then rebuild the array. I use RAID, but not a mirrored set, so I don't speak with certainty.
If none of these options are available (be careful that you don't do anything to lose the entire thing), I strongly recommend making whatever backup you can, then erasing the volume. It might turn out to be a good thing that this rather harmless problem popped up to alert you to something that could be much more serious (meaning the disk error).
If you have trouble making the backup, you might need to resort to using Disk Warrior. I don't normally recommend using third-party utilities, but this is the one case when I do. If you do end up using Disk Warrior, use it only to facilitate the backup, then erase the volume and return the data.

I need help with my project [Navigator application acesible thru the phone]

I am currently working on my project proposal for the project i want to do. I need to develop a navigator appliation that is accesible thru a phone and hsa the following features:
1. Load image in display buffer and deending on wat user inputs, then i can manipulate the image and draw stuff on it like if the user requires the shortest route, then it can be drawn...
2. Provide traffic updates from rss feeds [online]- in this case i need to know how to use the http request class in J2ME wireless toolkit.
3. Incorporate GPS System or if any other otpion is there for me to be able to tell the location of a user dynamically and use that info to map the location on the map image in the display buffer
4. Provide info about places using pop ups depending on what the user inputs
5 general advice on MIDP development esp that its different from wat am used to [desktop programming]...
The biggest challenge is that am new to mobile apps esp MIDP,Am a student in my final year, and the proosal is this coming week and ineed some help [or should i say breakthrough] SOMEBODY HELP ME..!!

Its a shame to say this but am so new to this i would bore you to death coz i have little (if any soultions)...but i believe if we work together we can go far...
The gps part was quite as process because either way, i had to go thru a 3rd party to get the service, so wat i said i will do is simulate a gpsi.e have a sub component on the side that simultes a gps (as i believe it return the latiotude and longitude positions of wea u are) then using this info i can trace on which region of the map you fall in depending on what mesh u fall in, is that simple or wat?
The othe rthing is that am using J2ME which am not familiar alot wih. Ive used netbeans but for desktop applications not mobile....
But i also have a question, since the whole app would be better on the mobile fully, how do u include the dbase?

How to generate a project report for a BPM project in Oracle Jdeveloper 11g

Hi,
Till Oracle 10g we can generate a project report by right clicking on project name in BPM studio project navigator.
Is this facility available with Jdeveloper 11g for BPM project as I am not able to generate the report.
If this is possible than please let me know how can i generate.

My client have several BA's who are crying out for documentation and exported diagrams, which are exactly what the Project Report features provided.

When you get that error, you can find the details in the problems panel, on the bottom of the screen in code view. The problem with your project is that the libs folder doesn't exist, and while I'm not sure how that could happen, the fix is easy:
In code view, look at the project navigator (on the right side of your window). Right click on "Untilted_1" and select New -> Folder. Enter "libs" (without quotes) as the name of the new folder and press Finish. You should now be able to run successfully.

Error while saving BPM Project to MDS: BPM-70801 : Metadata operation failed

I am working on BPM 11g.
I installed the following products for BPM 11g
OS: Windows 7 SP1 Professional Edition all with 32 bit
Installed s/w:
    JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 Generic Version
    OracleXE 11.2 Win32
    ofm soa generic 11.1.1.6.0
    wls 10.3.5
    RCU 11.1.1.6 for schemas dev_soainfra, dev_sdpm and dev_mds - Utility run successfully.
Overall Installation is successful wth no issues.
Configuration of Weblogic server for domain is ok with admin server, soa_server1 and bam_server1 with test connections is ok.
I am using browser as Internet Explorer 9
In Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 after creating application, project and process
From BPM MDS Navigator I configured the connection for Database 11g XE as well using
Override Application Server user/password
For SOA MDS I included the dev_mds user with MDS partition as obpm
tested connections all ok (weblogic and soa_server1 up and running)
In Jdeveloper I am able to export the BPM successfully.
In the BPM Project Navigator when I use the Project --> SalesQuote.jpr --> right clicking with
option as Save to BPM MDS the following error is occured as
"Error while saving BPM Project to MDS: BPM-70801 : Metadata operation failed".
If the error is resolved than I can see the project in BPM composer.
My queries on this error are
1) Has soa_server anything to do with this error
2) Is dev_mds schema to be reviewed
what can be the possibility to resolve the BPM-70801 error.
Please provide the solution ASAP or send me the reply to my [email protected]

Hello Ajaz,
BPM-70801 is a very generic error that can have multiple causes. Please provide the error log from servers log file. From what I understand, you are using a separate soa_server1, so watch out /your_domain/servers/soa_server1/logs/soa_server1.log

Xcode project name

If I make changes in a project and want to save it under a different name, the only option in the file menu seems to be to close the project with the same name.
Is it possible to change the name of a project when it is open?

You can change the name by hightlighting the project in the Project Navigator, but I've found that you have better luck if the project isn't very complex, since there are many buried places where the original name hides.

How to refer the BPM objects in Project to Project.

Here are a couple ways to share BPM Objects across projects.
You can right mouse click a BPM Object in a project and then export it. This will create a zip file that can then be imported into a Module in another project.
There is a new feature in 10g that allows you to create a dependency between projects. If you define one project to be dependent on another then it can use the BPM Objects found in the other one. To do this, right mouse click the project's name in the Project Navigator tab -> Project Preferences -> Dependency -> select the project you want to be dependent on from the dropdown. This is based on the project's currently visible in the Workspace directory (the directory you are prompted for when Studio first starts up).

You can reopen a project that you removed from Studio's Project Navigator by clicking on the sixth icon from the left in the toolbar (it says "Open Project" when you hold your mouse over it).

Problem Moving XCode Project From iMac to MacBook

I have been working with an Objective C library for iPhone apps using XCode on a iMac running OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63). My project builds fine on this system. I need to relocate the project to a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.4 (12E55). I have XCode 4.6.3 installed on both systems. The project fails to build on the Mac Book pro. I get two compile errors, both claiming "No visible @interface for 'xxx' declares the selector 'yyy'". (xxx and yyy are class and method names respectively.) The source code appears correct, and as I mentioned this very same project builds fine on the iMac.
I can zip the project directory structure on the MacBook and copy it back to the iMac, and it again compiles just fine.
The project will also build on another iMac using XCode 4.6.1
I've tried stuff like deleting the schemes and re-creating them, etc.
I'm rather new to the Apple development world. The code was developed by someone else, and unfortunately I can't really call him in on this. So if anyone has run into anything like this, I'd appreciate knowing what the causes/remedies might be. Thanks..

Sorry. There is no remedy other than doing it correctly the first time. What you will have to do is rebuild the project from scratch.
Do all of the following on the original machine. Create a new project using the correct template for whatever you are building. Use git SCM. Setup all of the plist and bundle IDs to be the same as the original. Then, open up the original project. Drag all of the source files except for main.m from the old project to the project navigator of the new one. When promped, make sure you copy the files to the destination. Once you have all of the files copied over, get the project running again. I'm sure you will have difficulty because there are probably other things that were done incorrectly.
Once you have the new app working, you can transfer it to the new machine. You might want to look at setting up a remote repository. You will also want to do additional testing. Once you familiarize yourself with the code, you might want to split it back up again into an organization that makes sense for you.

Project Link Question

If I have copies of an iMovie project on more than one disk drive, each with the same name, is there a simple way to know to which the iDVD project folder (usually on still another drive) of the same name points for its source? There are some files I no longer remember which is primary, and which is backup.

Answering my own question: found out by experimenting.
The NSColor class reference tells you that the NSColor object is found in the /System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit.framework.
Go to the project navigator, right click on "frameworks", choose "add files". Navigate to /System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit and select it. You'll find it added to the frameworks in the project. It will now build and run.

How to use additional libraries in a project

I am trying to call an existing EJB from page bean. And for the life of me, I can not figure out how to add additional libraries to Creator project.
Is it supported at this stage?

Right click on the References node in the project navigator and select: Add New Library Reference. In the subsequent dialog, specify the path to the jar file you wish to include. This library will be automatically added to the application classpath at design time and deployed with the application when you run the project.

The project publication has failed

I am getting the following error:
error: the project publication has failed.Reason:'_ConfirmReceipts' is not a member of 'Feugo_AutoGen_Screenflows_'..
I am using OBPM studio10g R3 and OS is windows 7 Enterprise.
I am trying to complete the tutorial for expense report management.
I have completed all the steps successfully and when i try to run the process using the start engine button, I am getting this error.

There are a few issues with the tutorial that I wish Oracle put out an errata on.
Judging from your error, it sounds like you collided with one or more of these issues, because most of the problems deal with the variable mapping and screenflow sections.

You engine's probably not starting correctly check the Problems tab for errors in your project.
Log Viewer Tab
There's a bug in Oracle BPM 10g Studio (actually an incorrect default property setting) that causes hundreds of messages to be pumped into the Studio log files unnecessarily. The default for Studio's Engine logging is "Debug" instead of the more appropriate "Warning". This makes reading the log files almost impossible until it is manually changed by the developers (you and me) using Studio. This needs to done before starting the Engine for every project.
Here's how to make your log file only store the meaningful information:
a) In Studio, stop the Engine
b) right mouse click your project in the Project Navigator tab
c) click "Engine Preferences"
d) click "Runtime" on the left side
e) in the "Messages logged from Server" change it from "Debug" to "Warning"
f) in the "Messages logged from BP Methods" change it from "Info" to "Debug"
g) click "OK"
h) restart your Engine - as you are restarting the Engine, be sure to check the "Delete Log Files" checkbox. This will remove the confusing and useless Engine debug log messages that make reading the log files a pain
i) duplicate the problem you were having in the Workspace
j) click the "Log Viewer" tab again
k) note that there are two icons on the left side of the Log Viewer tab. Click the "Refresh" icon (the one below the one that looks like a clock)
You should now see very few log messages and those displayed are germaine to the problem you are having.
Here are a few tips that also might help you view information in the log file:
1. Inside of your logic, create "logMessage" statements using this syntax:
logMessage "The value of the order amount is: "
+ orderAmount using severity = DEBUGThis will cause the current value of the orderAmount variable to be displayed in the log file. After running a work item instance in the process, click the "Log Viewer" tab to see the log file's contents.
2. Before clicking on the "Log Viewer" tab, be sure that you have the process diagram selected in the panel above it.
3. Inside the "Log Viewer" tab there is a refresh button inside the tab (the icon below the one that looks like a clock). Be sure to click this button to refresh the view of the log file entries.
4. If you do not want to view your log file from the Log Viewer tab inside Studio, your log file is stored where your project is stored. Not to be confused with the end user "Workspace", Eclipse (the IDE Studio uses) stores it's project is a folder also called the workspace. This is determined by the dialog box with the name of the file folder you select when Studio first initializes. You'll be able to find the log files for your project in this directory:
C:\<your Workspace folder>\<your project's name>\system

Managing which projects are in the timeline.

I'm sure the answer to this is trivial, except that I can't find it. (FCP7 guy finally coming to X)
I open a project in the timeline. Good. I open a second project in the timeline and I get the back & forward arrows to select which one to see. I open another project and I can control-click on the arrows to select which one to see.
But how do I CLOSE a project that is open in the timeline when I have too many open at once? I've done the basic search of the manual and the forum but can't figure this one out.
So the question is really this: IF three or more projects are open in the timeline, how do I close one?

I was not about to suggest compounds or storylines - though come to think of it... just kidding :-)
I understand what you are asking for, but I don't think there is currently such an option.
You can use the "Provide Feedback" command in the application itself to make a feature request.
I would think that going back and forth to erase items from the project navigation history might in the end be a bit clunky, though.
What I was going to suggest, though, is that if this is some kind of template, like a title, it would probably make sense just to create your own and have it there in the Titles (or Effects, or Generators, as may be more appropriate).
For example, if always do the same kind of modifications to a title, like changing font, size, position on screen, etc, then it makes sense to have your own version with all your settings as wanted, instead of doing the same changes over and over.
That assumes that you have Motion, or can have someone with Motion creating that title for you
(you only need Motion to *create* custom titles, effects, etc, NOT to use them)

Error in ise for a embedded processor system

I added a .xmp file from xps to ISE-14.2 , it is having a peripheral attached with the microblaze.
While translating it is giving error like :

I have seen a similar issue in 13.x and 14.1 version of XPS/ISE.
This is seen because platstudio run targets(including stubgen, memgen, testbenchgen) was not inserting library paths(global, project specific ). But memgen do accepts -lp path, so if running from command line it will work.
Since you are running in ISE flow this may not be an easy workaround.
Can you try open XPS project and select Project options and un-check generate test bench template and see if that helps?
These issues are seen moslty in the design migrated from older version to the newer version.
