Yaourt suddenly asking for root password, pacman-color [NEVERMIND]

So just a few days ago I started getting the following whenever I try to install something from yaourt:

Any ideas why yaourt is invoking su and trying to invoke pacman-color? I can't install anything from aur using yaourt anymore, it always ends up failing:

Ouch, guess I'll just run along then... I don't remember enabling testing but I'll have to double-check.
su is being invoked before pacman, which is why I've done nothing more with it than try (unsuccessfully) to install it with yaourt... But I'll just be getting off y'all's front lawn now...

Shaman doesn't ask for root password. But gets root privileges!!

Shaman is launched as a reguler user, never asks for root password, but still i able to install and uninstall packages.
Either something in my system is seriously fucked, or there is a major securiy problem with shaman.
Running openbox, installed shaman while running gnome, if that has anythiung to say. Sudo is not installed.

The point of this thread was that you don't need to enter the root password at all. Not the first time, not ever.
As far as I understand, it is supposed to work like this: When you first use shaman too install anything, it asks for the root password You can tick a "Do not ask me again"-box, so you don't have to enter the password again. If you tick the box and enter the password, shaman add the lines
[auth]
askforpwd=false
to the users shaman.conf-file (~./config/shaman/shaman.conf) The next time shaman is run, it checks the config file, and if the askforpwd value is set to false, it grants itself root privileges (with some nifty setuuid root-thingy, I imagine) This is not the problem - this is the feature.
The bug is this:
the fact that any user can add the lines
[auth]
askforpwd=false
to his own shaman.conf file, without ever entering the root password in shaman. The next time shaman is run, it checks the config file, and if the askforpwd value is set to false, it grants itself root privileges - even though the user has never entered the root password.
This works for any unprivileged user on the system.
If that is indeed a feature intended by any sane person, then I'm Mother Mary. And that can't be, seeing as I don't have breasts.

Why is the program asking for a password to color a PDF. I changed the end to png and it was working and now quit

I was using PDF from a nonprofit i work for to color with PS Elements. It worked and then no longer allows me to drop files into PS Elements.
First I download the PDF's ....then I change the end from PDF TO .png and then drag and drop into PS Elements ....color .....
Then I put the files into DropBox and send them to iphoto to use in Doceri
FIrst the error message was about Parse
Now the message is that I need a password to use the program.
Friends all over the country can get this to work but it is NOT WORKING. I emptied and redownloaded dropbox.....not the problem.
We set up a dummy account and still could nto use.

PSE asks for a password when the file was password protected by whoever created it. You can't really expect decent results if you just change the extension of a file. A PDF is a very different animal than a png file and contains very different information, so it's not surprising your results are poor. That's the sort of thing you may get away with once in a while, but you can't expect to use it as a regular workflow.
Your whole procedure sounds extremely complicated for no particular good reason, at least as you describe it. It would be simpler to open the pdf in Preview and save a copy as a png if that's the format you need, but saving a pdf as anything other than a pdf will generally create a lousy looking file. I would just leave PSE out of the equation here, since you don't seem to be doing any editing with it.

This is your husband's app, only your husband can update it. Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID that purchased them. No other Apple ID can update someone else's app.

HT2500 Mail suddenly asking for password and saying rogers, my provider won't accept it.

I use rogers as my provider. No today mail is asking for my password and not accepting it. When I type it in, it says rogers will not accept that password but if I go into rogers yahoo mail, that is the password I use and it accepts it. Why won't mail accept this password all of a sudden? I have two email accounts that come into my mac mail and do not want to have to open 2 web pages on rogers yahoo mail to be able to get my mail from both accounts.

The situation you describe often happens with Comcast Mail Servers too, and is apparently due to short term problems with their servers. It usually is solved by the ISP within a reasonable number of hours and magically begins working fine again. Keep trying periodically.

TS4268 iMessage doesn't work anymore suddenly. It claims that my apple id had changed, which isn't the case (App Download still working!) . Then it shows the correct Email-adress and asks for appleID password.

There is the right One already preentered. From there it switches back to the former mask (appleID +password) and nothing happens. If you say Log in again, ist just switches between those masks without showing an error claim nor logging in. Strange thing is ist worked proppperply till a few days ago.......

If you get to step 3 I recommend closing ALL the apps.
Here is step 1 to get you started.
Restart iPhone

Next, turn iPhone on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Is iPhone not responding? To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If your device does not turn on or displays a red battery icon, try recharging next.

Mini suddenly asking for password

My mini is suddenly asking for a login user password when I turn it on. I have not made any changes in preferences or whatsoever. How can this happen and how do I turn it off?

Can't really say what might have caused this, but hopefully it'll be easy to fix:
Open System Preferences, and select the Accounts section. Select Login Options at the bottom of the user list (you may have to click the padlock at the very bottom of the dialog box first). From the options presented to you, check the 'Automatically log in as' box, and follow your nose from there.

Why is my Thunderbird email account suddenly not asking for a password?

Have already run two anti-virus scans. Have deleted the saved passwords and re-entered them as the program asked for them and renamed key.db & signons.sqlite (Read this in a forum on the web) and they rebuilt themselves. Still can not get email via Thunderbird.

Did you contact your email provider? They may have server issues.

Z10 suddenly asking for password

After working fine for 6 months, the Verizon Z10 now starts on the homepage, but after I log in using the button picture, it immediately asks for the password. I don't know that I have it anywhere. I hate it, but how do you reset the whole thing?

A device password is first required before a picture password can be initiated. Whenever you connect to a pc, Link requests the device password, if you do not know it then there's no option but to do a security wipe.
Enter incorrect password 10 times for auto factory reset.

these has been happening on and off for a few days now.
when i click update on my local copy of the sdk ready to do my morning build I've started to be asked for a username and password. I do have a username and password for sandbox and patching etc but entering this has no effect.
are there times of day when the trunk is locked or something like that? This is not happening all the time but it is several times a day.
has anyone any idea why this is happening
Ive don e all the usual things, clean my local version, grabbed a totally new version etc
im on windows using TortoiseSVN(which is always using a current build)

Ive had this same issue on and off across all the open source svn
im yet to find any pattern apart from the fact that the auth error only ever shows the root of the svn request.
Ie http://opensource.adobe.com/svn/opensource/
Now im not sure if thats just the way the reporting ui works of if it indicates that somewhere in the update it starts to trigger the url rot and thats where the auth request gets triggered. This may be total nonsense. Just a thought.

My calendar is asking for Google password but not accepting it

It just happened now, out of the blue. My email accounts work well but my calendars keep popping up asking me for my Google password but they don't accept it.
I use Thunderbird version 31.2.0, Lightning 3.3.1 and Provider for Google Calendar 0.32 (the latest version doesn't work at all)

I have the same problem.
Last month i did the fix (desinstalled provider and lightening and relinked agenda to google calendar and disabled the autoupdate)
Since then everything worked and i did not touch anything. Nevertheless all of a sudden, agenda started to ask for my password but don't accept it and then says that an error has occured while preparing the agenda which won't be available.

Compressord asks for admin password

We have a Workgroup manager environment with all Applications in the Applications
folder being allowed, including Compressor. Sometimes the Application will hang
in a loop and compressord keeps asking for admin password. An excerpt if the
system log is below...Any ideas what might be causing this?
