Yosemite killed my printer!

I've been using my Canon LBP3000 for years with no problems at all. This morning I upgraded to Yosemite and my printer stopped working! Please help, as I depend on it! Thanks!

Please make sure your printer supports Mac OS X Yosemite (v10.10) and that you have the latest driver installed for your printer. You can go to Canon's support website to check if there is any update available for your printer. Please note that, as Yosemite is a rather new OS version, many manufacturers may not have support for their existing hardware or software yet.
I hope this helps.

  • XEROX PHASER 5500 drivers kill all print services

Just got a XEROX PHASER 5500 on our network, most machines deal with it fine, but after installing drivers on a Dual 2.3 ghz G5 running OSX 10.4.8 it kills all print services. Trying to print or pdf from any application gives me a dialogue saying that it can't open printer. I have set it up seemingly correctly in the Print & Fax preference pane, and even once I disabled the printer and reconnected my old one, I still couldn't get it to work. I had to run the uninstaller from xerox to get printing up and running. Any suggestions? Or known problems with this printer? Thanks.

  • Kill a print dialogue box

    Hello !
I have specific scenario here. My Application developer has created an online app wherein, there is link called "Print" , when clicked, opens a new tab with the to-be-printed matter BUT ALSO WITH A PRINT TAB. Now I dont what this PRINT DIALOGUE BOX but just the print tab.
The Developer isn't ready to modify his script. Is there a add-on, or a modification somewhere where in I can Kill this Print Dialogue box ?
Currently If I close the print dialogue box, it goes away, also the newly opened tab goes away.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for reading this.
    Regards,
    Mahesh

Firefox 3.0 and earlier versions had a preference '''print.use_native_print_dialog ; true''' which could be toggled to '''''false''''', but with Firefox 3.5 it was removed. When that pref was set to false the "print" command went directly to the printer, without the appearance of the dialog box.
It is possible to show a "printer-ready" window, because I see them frequently at many websites, so your developer needs to study up on how to display a "printer-ready" page and not trigger the appearance of the "native print dialog" box. Unfortunately, Firefox users no longer have control over the appearance of that dialog from within Firefox.

  • After Yosemite upgrade, Kodak printer won't print

After upgrading to Yosemite, my Kodak Printer ESP5 all-in-one, will not print. I get an error message"filter failed"

I found I had to go into Terminal and type a couple of lines as recommended by Kodak. My ESP7 works fine now.

  • Yosemite killed Magic Mouse

Yosemite killed my Magic Mouse. It disconnects all of the time. Sometimes never reconnecting. Sometimes taking 15-20. Its so frustrating. Switching the mouse on/off from the mouse itself or via toggling Bluetooth on/off my MBP doesn't do anything. Manually trying to connect does nothing either. I participating in the Yosemite beta program from start to finish and submitted feedback on the issue numerous times.
Anyone else experiencing this or have a fix?
    Thanks
    ~ G

You've probably fixed this by now, but I encountered it on a Macbook Pro after upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.1 from Mavericks, where the Magic Mouse worked fine. After booting into Yosemite after the upgrade, the Magic Mouse wouldn't resync and the Bluetooth preferences didn't show the mouse. I changed the mouse batteries, turned it off and on several times, turned the Macbook Pro's Bluetooth off and on, and removed the unconnected Magic Mouse listing from the Macbook Pro's Bluetooth Preferences.
I'm not positive what fixed it, but while struggling with this issue it occurred to me an iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard and an iPhone with Bluetooth enabled were just a foot or two away from the MBP. I moved the iPad with its Bluetooth keyboard and iPhone w/Btooth enabled to the next room and suddenly the Magic Mouse connected to the MBP. I then noticed the iPad or iPad Btooth keyboard showed up as available in the MBP's Bluetooth preferences, so I removed that, too.
I'm not sure if this was a coincidence, but the idea it might help struck me based on the following reasoning, which might be faulty:
    - maybe Bluetooth in the Macbook Pro, the iPad and the iPhone were all detecting the Magic Mouse and the iPad and/or iPhone were "winning" or hogging, perhaps because they were on next to the Magic Mouse during the Macbook Pro's long hiatus during the Yosemite installation.
    - maybe by the time the Macbook Pro finally booted to Yosemite, the iPhone and/or iPad had hogged the Magic Mouse Bluetooth identity so the MBP saw the Magic Mouse as unavailable even though the MM and iPad/iPhone were just friends, not a pair.
I had another iPhone next to the MBP but its Bluetooth was off.
I didn't have time to verify this after the Magic Mouse started working because I was charging a client an hourly rate, otherwise, I would have nailed it down. Still, the agony in the forums over this issue lead me to post this possibility in case it turns out to be true.

  • Yosemite has killed wireless printing

I updated my wife’s MacBook Air, 13”, Mid 2012 to Yosemite last evening and now it will not print on our local network. I have tried a few things I found here in the forums to no avail.
Neither an HP Officejet Pro 8100 nor a Samsung ML-2010 lazer will work on the network but work fine on my iMac via USB.
Curiously, when I open the Printers & Scanners pref and click on + I get this: HP Officejet Pro 8100 @ Tom Gould’s iMac Intel i5 (2).
Do not recall ever seeing the (2) before. See pics.
When I go to /Library/Printers, there are no files there.
I am stumped. Sounds Like I have to start fresh, but I don’t know what that is.
    Can someone help?

I have tried diligently to make the printers work on my wife’s MBA.
I deleted all files and re-installed the latest printer software.
I was finally able to get the printers re-installed, by manually entering the IPA.
However, and this may be a clue, with no printers installed, when I clicked on the + to add one, I selected the HP printer. A small window opened with a thermometer, saying it was installing the printer.
Then it stopped and an Alert appeared:
“The software for the printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printers’ manufacturer for the latest software.”
    Hmmmmmm.

  • HP Officejet Pro L7590 and Mac Yosemite 10.10 printing software

I just upgraded my Mac to a mew 2014 MacBook Pro with Retina and Yosemite 10.10.1.
I want to install my old HP Officejet Pro L7590. I have the printer connected by network cable to my Comcast network hub. There is a stable connection on both ends (lights are on). What software do I download to install the printer? Is it not available for Yosemite yet? Where is it located? I'm assuming its not available for Yosemite yet? I don't have the original software. Thanks.

    Hi @rustyblue,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
Currently there are no full feature software and drivers directly through HP for Mac OS X 10.10 for this particular printer model. However, after some searching I found this driver directly through Apple. HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X.
If you need help with scanning without HP software, please see this post, Re: iMac OS X 10.9.3 Scan to iMac Driver for HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A A910a does not seem to exist, by my colleague @Sunshyn2005. Even though this post is for Mac OS X 10.9.3 and a different printer, these steps will work for your printer on 10.10 as well.
Hope this helps you get up and running, please let me know if you have any further issues!

  • 7.3.1 killed wireless printing (Samsung ML-2510)

OK. It looks like 7.3.1 has killed my wireless printing.
If I attempt to print anything it takes several min for anything to print. When it finally does i get this page that says "Internal error - False"
I have A Mac Pro, A Mac Book Air, and a mac mini. The printer works fine when connected directly to any of these three systems. When it's connected either of my Airport Base Station Extreme(n) routers (Original and Gigabit versions) I get the problem above.
I don't think this is a Drive issue or a Samsung issue. This printer worked just fine before the 7.3.1 update. All my systems are running OS X 10.5.2 with all updates. The printer was working before the 7.3.1 update.
Is this a know issue? any plans to fix this? where can iI report this directly to apple?

    Hi,
no solution but same issue to report.
I migrated our imac G5 from Panther (yes, you read it correctly) to Leopard (with all updates) and boom no more wireless printing. Same Printer, same error message : ML-2510, "Internal error...". It works fine if plugged directly via USB but the airport express device is useless for now
Come on Apple, fix it. We have a bug here, right ?

    Hi Omar,
I hope we can help get through this, & Thank You!  So since at this point it seems the software did have problems, either from being removed previously or just the combination of a few things, upgrade, install, and uninstall.
If this is the only printer you have, then I suggest the following.
    1. Go to System Preferences
    2. Go to Printers & Scanners
    3. (This step will remove all printers from the print queue) Right click on your printer on the left and choose "Reset Printing System"
    4. Close out of Pritners & Scanners and System Preferences
    5. Open Finder
    6. Click on "Applications" on the left side
    7. Move the HP or Hewlett-Packard folder to the Trash
    8. Click "Finder" on the top menu by the Apple symbol, click on "Empty Trash" (then click Empty Trash to confirm)
    9. Close Finder
    10. Find the downloaded Full Feature software "HP-Inkjet-SW-OSX-Mavericks_v12.34.40" and attempt to install again
Note: Step 10 is under the assumption that your printer is still on the wireless network, and the mac is also on that same network.
    11. Follow the onscreen instructions, including on the 3rd screen (Customer Install) to CHECK the box for "HP Scan".
    12. Continue following instructions to install.
If the Printer was not on the wireless network still, then simply plug the USB cable in before running the installer, and choose to install USB to Wireless.  When that install is complete and you have added the Printer Queue for Bonjour, you will then want to remove the printer queue for the USB printer.
Please post back your results.  (I hope I answered the questions, if I missed something, please let me know)
    Thanks,

  • How to kill a print job?

For some reason, I have a print job that is printing endless blank pages.
It no longer appears in the printer's print queue. how do i delete it?

Is there a way of pausing the printer, and sending $1B $45 to the printer? It's only 2 bytes, for crying out loud. Sheeeeesh. It's bugs like this that make the Mac look bad.
Don't know and never cared. Maybe somebody has done some research along these lines. I haven't really needed anything like this since the Print Screen button quit working when we went to Windows and System 7 (yeah, it's a copy screen button now).
It would seem that you would need some kind of command line program running, or maybe an applescript or automator action. Then you would also have to be able to ensure that your model of the hundreds of available printers from all the brands actually honor or respond to the code at all or in time to be of any use. In addition, I'd assume that the configuration of the printer (local, network, IPP, shared with Mac, shared with Windows etc) could affect the required code or syntax.
If there is a feature missing in an OS, then it's not really a 'bug'. That's a pretty loose description to use. That's like saying that not having a 'print' button on a keyboard is a bug. It's a feature I'd like (but probably get in trouble with), but I've never taken the time to map a key combo for it. If I wanted to, I'd probably install Quickeys again like back in the '90s.
Meanwhile, I try to keep it simple, I just turn around, face the printer with a glare, and flip the switch. No code to remember, no command line or script to run, no argument or delay's from the printer. Our best network printer is within a couple of feet of my desk
I'll just bet this thread brings up a bunch of methods that can cancel a print. Including at least 2 or 3 terminal commands and a script or two. Here's one video demo on how to write a script to cancel printing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xH0Yami9_0&feature=PlayList&p=1512FA817EBBF876&playnext=1&playnextfrom=PL&index=19 - I didn't bother to actually do this. Too many Mac's to worry with.
Problem is, I won't remember it when I need it. Killing the power is so satisfying and proactive.

  • Yosemite Apple Mail prints too small

After Yosemite upgrade the body of text in Apple Mail messages prints extremely small. 2 Printers tested - HP Laserjet 5100tn and a Konica Minolta 5500 with a Fiery controller. Printing to a PDF file first is OK.
This only seems to occur when I print messages that I've sent or when I print a message where someone has replied to a message that I sent previously. Only the body of the messages that I sent prints too small. The From, Subject, Date, To, My signature, and anything from messages that have been sent to me from someone else are all OK. In messages that were replies to me from messages that I sent to others, everything is OK except the body of the message that I originally sent to that individual.

I have had this issue as well and have not really been able to resolve it. Yosemite Mail app doesn't seem to have the option that previous OS did where you could choose "Scale Message to Fit," "Rewrap Message to Fit," etc.
Am I missing something here or did they disable this option?  I know I can change font or increase font size in preferences, but I don't really need to increase font size for display, only for printing, which seems to be very tiny no matter what I try to do.

  • OS Yosemite/Photoshop CS4/Printer Problem

I recently upgraded to OS 10.10, Yosemite. I can no longer get accurate colors printed for photos from Photoshop. I have Photoshop CS4 and I use an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer. I am able to use Photoshop for everything but printing accurately. I downloaded all recommended drivers for the printer, reloaded profiles for the printer and even tried a trial of Photoshop CC. Nothing resolves the problem. My prints look kind of solarized. Black and white photos have green areas where there should be black. Please help.

Yosemite introduced a number of serious bugs that Apple has not fixed yet.
Some Yosemite users have been advised to downgrade to Mavericks.

  • Yosemite can't print to wireless Epson XP-310

When I try to print wirelessly, my Macbook goes through the motions of printing. The printer que shows in the dock for a few seconds and then goes away. Nothing prints and nothing in the que. It all worked in Mavericks and worked for a while in Yosemite. Then one day, the Macbook couldn't print. I deleted the printer, installed Yosemite-compatable software from Epson and it won't print. I can however print wirelessly from my Snow Leopard imac. Does anyone have a suggestion?

  • Epson printer software update 2.14 killed my printer

On Mac OS X 10.7.5  - after epson printer software update 2.14 my 9890 started printing images "smeared" out of register across the page.
Over an hour with Epson tech ended with trashing the /Library/Printers/EPSON folder and downgrading to the previous driver. This fixed the 9890 but left my R1900 disabled. R1900 software is no longer available as a stand-alone install - only through Sofware Update. But that will kill my 9890.
Epson tech said it's Apple's fault and they need to fix it.
    Apple, where's the fix?

I had the same problem and after untold hours working with Apple & Epson we got to the problem with the Apple software update 2.14.  I was told I had to decide if I wanted my 9900 to work or my office printer (Workforce 610) to work. I was incredulous that I would be forced to make this choice but of course chose to get my 9900 back up and running.  This  fix was given to me 3 weeks ago tomorrow and we still no resolution from Apple / Epson?  Are you kidding me? I am considering throwing my Epson 610 in the trash and buying another brand of office printer so I will have no conflict with my 9900. Seems like a pretty stupid solution I must admit.
I called Epson back again on Friday and got a horrible run-around. The guy from the Pro Graphics group (techs for the professional series printers) insisited I needed to talk to the consumer printers group. Once I got to them it was clear they had no clue about this issue. I left the phone totally frustrated and angry.  I ended up emailing a very capable guy from the Pro Graphics group I had worked with 3 weeks ago and he was nice enough to reply. The answer however was there is still no fix to the Apple update.  At t his point I am not sure how to know if the update has been fixed. The message I get from Epson is just keep checking back. The problem is that it seems few at Epson are aware of the problem so you have to go through a long explanation only to hope  you find someone that is aware.
Nothing like running a printing company and telling your customers you cannot print their invoice because your printer doesn't work!  Thanks Apple for the quick fix on this!
