Zen Micro A/C power cord opti

Hi All,
My Micro recharges just fine when plugged into the USB of my computer with Creative software. However, it will not charge using USB on other computers.
Also, I tried plugging in my Blackberry charger (output 5V,?0.7A)?to the USB port. The Micro has a blinking thunderbolt over the battery icon, but won't run on the AC and won't charge the battery. I believe that "official" Creative Zen chargers are in the same power range as my Blackberry charger, so I don't get the problem. As far as I can figure, my software is updated and current. I don't want to buy a pricey Creative Zen charger if it is not going to work with my (broken?) Zen Micro.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Thanks Coach!
I can't view that particular one (work blocks ebay), but have seen others that are probably similar:

The thing is, my Blackberry charger?seems to have the same specs, my Zen knows it is plugged in, but the battery does not charge (whether I'm using it or not).

ahboi wrotehhh i tried it before but to no help... in fact the player is like draining the batt even when it is completely off... u get what i mean?...
this does sound like the standby draining power, but if the ..xx firmware doesn't fix it then it is most likely faulty

    Hi to everyone,
I bought a ZEN V Plus (4 GB; DAP-FL0036), I already had got a ZEN MICRO (5 GB; DAP-MD0004, it purchased on march 2005), I would know if the ZEN MICRO's AC Power Adapter (data: AC ADAPTOR Model no. • How To Turn Off Zen Micro

i tried holding the play button like the ipod for 4 seconds and it doesnt turns off. can someone help me?Message Edited by Money_King on 07-4-2005 04:47 PM

The Zen Micro has a power switch on the top, nexto the headphone jack. If you slide and hold it towards the power icon, it'll turn off/on. If you slide it the other way it's in the Locked position (so the buttons won't respond, if you want to put it in your pocket or bag for instance).

  • Power cords for older hardware?

    Hi,
Anyone know where I can get power cords for
a PowerMac G3 (beige short desktop) and
an Apple Multiple Scan 15 AV Display?
Willing to pay a fair price!
    Thanks in advance,
    --Prahas

The Beige G3 uses a generic , 3-conductor power cord that is available new and for cheap. I believe the monitor uses the same type. Some of the 16 Macs in our family have old power cords salvaged from dead PC computers. They are interchangeable

  • Durable power cords for iDevices

I use my iPad-mini plugged into a power source about 75% of the time.  My mother uses her iPad 3 plugged in probably 99% of the time.  My power cords last about two months on average, my mother can kill two a month.  They all fail at lighting or 30-pin connector end of the cable.  I've added springs to the cables to keep the cable from bending at the plug, this has help. But the cables still fail.  This happens with Apple OEM cables and heavier after market cables.
Does anyone know of 90 or 180 degree angled connector?  Any ideas on solving (or minimizing) this problem?

  • Zen micro 're-building library' er

I was listening to my zen micro one day in the travel dock, I went to skip a song, and it froze. Then re-building library popped up and hasn't stopped since! I've taken the battery out, and have tried hooking it up to the computer, and nothing has worked. Has this happened to anyone? If so, how do you fix it's

    Same thing here....
I'll include some details in case anyone in Creative is interested:
Bought a TravelDock about 5 months ago. Since then used it at the office with my Zen Micro in it. At the end of the day I would turn off the whole thing, unplug it from the wall and leave it (with Zen Micro still in) put away until the next day. Whenever I travelled I would take the Zen out of the TravelDock and bring it with me to use with earphones.
After about 3 months my Zen Micro would not power off when I pressed and held the TravelDock's remote as instructed in the manual. The message "Shutting down..." would appear but the display never turned off. I had to take the battery out and replace it for the unit to turn off and rebuild the library. After that it would work fine...but when it came time to turn the TravelDock off I would get the "Shutting down..." deal most of the time. So I've been having to pull the battery out and back in again on most days after using my Zen Micro in the TravelDock.
One day (3 days ago) I brought the Zen+TravelDock home with me to sync some songs I had on my home PC so I could take them with me cause I was going to travel the next day. Synced fine. Unplugged it from the PC and put my headphones in to listen to some music while I was preparing for my trip. When I slid the power I just got "HARDWARE PROBLEM" and haven't been able to access any functions on my Zen since...
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
    Regards,
    Pavel G.

  • Odd noise output from Zen Micro when power cord is connec

I just recently purchased a Zen Micro. I've experienced an odd noise (I can only discribe it as interference) whenever the power cord is plugged into the wall, and into the Zen Micro. The sound is intermittent, and usually only happens if the cord is disturbed (wiggled) while plugged in. The sound cuts out the music. Another problem I've noticed is that the Micro doesn't charge well on the power cord (though charging through the USB port works fine). Has anyone experienced anything similar?
    Thanks.

  • Zen Micro: which wires in USB cord for pow

  • Creative Zen Micro 6GB/Problems with Power Switch and Firmw

The power switch on my Zen Micro has died. I can't turn it on or off unless I 'jump start' it from a USB cable and leave it alone to go into idle shutdown. I've had this player just three weeks and this is happened and frankly I'm disgusted. But wait, my story get's worse:
So before sending it back to Creative I thought that I should at least exhaust every possible cure. First on my list? A Firmware upgrade to v2.22.05. I downloaded the program and set about installing the new firmware but halfway through the process it hung and I had to end it prematurely. Now what I had was a ZM that apparently had v2.22.05 but was not being recognised at all by my computer. Media Explorer wasn't picking up on it and neither was WMP although strangely when I connect the device it's there in the Device Manager...
So, check back with the website and it said to download an update for Mediasource and that should solve the problem. Downloaded the patch but then realised that I hadn't installed Mediasource on my computer (can't remember why I didn't though). Went back to the downloads page and downloaded Mediasource. Tried to install it but I can't. The reason? because my computer isn't detecting the ZM and I can't install it until it recognises that it's there.
As a last resort I thought that I would try to use 'Rescue Mode'. Seemed simple enough, remove the battery and hold down the power switch. Then put the battery back in and wait for the rescue screen to come up. Seems easy enough. Oh wait, I don't have a working power switch.
What I do have though, is a small piece of plastic and metal that I can't turn on, can't turn off, can't put any songs on, can't listen to, can't fix and can't be bothered with. I have a ?60 paperweight.
Anyone at all have any idea what I should do? I just want to put it all in a box and send it back to Amazon with a request for a full refund or a threat to take them to the Small Claims Court.

Although a failed power switch is not unknown, I only recall seeing two or three other cases of this. It's not common.
If WMP isn't working with the device having v2 firmware something is wrong. Unfortunately this can be difficult to fix, but take a look here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.
MediaSource won't detect the player if there's some issue e.g. WMP0 not detecting it. You can of course also try installing Zen Micro Media Explorer (Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update to be specific) which has MTP support.
Are you are presumably under guarantee, and as you bought from an Internet store, it's best to return it direct to Creative. Contact Creative Support to arrange this.

  • Zen Micro: Pause midfile before shutdown looses place on powe

I use my Zen Micro to listen to audio books during my commute. Each file is 77min long. Many times, but not always, when I pause a file and then shut down it looses its place the next time I turn it on. It will be on the correct file but will have gone back to zero. This is anoying. Anyone have any ideas?
    I have the newest firmware.
    Terry

I've found that if the Micro only goes into 'hot standby' mode, then it finds its place when you power up. But if it goes into 'deep sleep' (after 4 hrs on firmware ., or 24hrs with other versions) mode, then it loses its place.
Use bookmarks. Thats what I do for podcasts too.

  • Saving Battery Power on Zen Micro(Origina

Well my original battery on my zen micro is giving my zen micro issues. Usually after about 5 minutes the battery begins to die and everything just freezes. So I've gotten a new battery everything is fine now. HOWEVER! My sister bought her Zen Micro the same time I bought mine but her battery is working fine as ever. Why is that? Isn't there a way to conserve my battery power? Aside from upgrading to the latest firmware? (NOTE: The last time I was on the Creative Boards, the firmware that gave the Zen Micro a 4 hr [around that] sleep mode). Usually, once my zen micro is done charging, it turns off by itself and I just leave it plugged it until the next time I use it. Does this affect the battery in any way? If so, would it be recommended that everytime I finish charging and using the zen micro that I take off the battery? I rarely use it, just when I go out so....yeah...respond back when you can, thanks.

We reply to threads when we can, but it should not be expected, the forum is here so people can interact with eachother (share tips, help eachother, talk about products, and so on).
Could be your battery was failing, or if you left it without charging for long periods (stored). If you leave it charging but don't unplug it right away when it's charged it should be fine, but do you mean you're leaving it for days/weeks (plugged in) before you use it again?

  • Zen Micro Power Adapter w/ the ZenMicro Pho

Well I bought a Zen MicroPhoto and unfortunatley it does not come with a hard travel-case nor a wall power adapter.. but, I purchased a Zen Micro before and thankfully have those accessories with me.. however, I wonder, can I use the Zen Micro power adapter with my ZenMicro photo The connection is the same, but I still am worried if something is different..
Any insight would be greatly appericated,
    Thanks in advance!

Yes, this is perfectly fine. Creative sells the same power adapter separately for the MicroPhoto. I use my Micro's. It gives more juice in a smaller period of time than the USB connection.

  • Does Zen micro power adapter charge Zen Vision

i tied the good old power adapter on my Vision M but it seemed to charge it...a little...but then it didn't do anything so i'm wondering if i just need to try it again or does it not work period...

i just happened to look in the instruction manual that came with the VM and it says absolutely nothing about NOT powering it through the AC adapter that was previously provided with the Zen Micro, not that i'm gonna lose sleep over it but why can't that power adapter charge the vision M?

  • Zen Micro Power Adapter Missi

I just bought my Zen Micro from Circuit City, and really dig it so far. One thing I noticed is that Circuit City's website says the AC power adapter and a belt clip/stand are included as part of the package. When I got the box home, they weren't included. I called Circuit City who said their website was wrong; they, however, will reduce my price by $30 to compensate. Good, I thought. So then I tried ordering the power adapter directly from Creative, but it says they're on backorder. What gives? Anyone know? Thanks.

It's best that you get an AC adapter, especially if you are not on the computer for long periods of time. Without the AC adapter, the charging may take up to 0 hours, depending on your computer. I have tried it and found that it only took 3 to 4 hours, but this reading is taken from a desktop PC.
Most Zen Micros do not come with AC adapters and belt cli
    ps.
This is especially so for the 4GB and 6GB ones. I advice you to get one as soon as possible, they are really convinient.
