ZEN TOUCH Stalls on occassions when turning

Hi,
I have a problem which is of some concern. My Zen touch occassionally stalls when turning on. It gets to the 'Zen Touch' screen and stalls. When this happens I cannot do anything to the player. It will not turn on, or off but u can hear the player making the scroll clicking noise when i run my finger down the touch sensiti've scroll page. To get the player to work again I have to press reset and play to access the safe mode then select reboot. I have re arrange the libary several times but this is not resolving the occassional problem.
Any advice of what I can do and why this is happening to my player on occassions?

This sounds like the hard disk heads are jamming, or a similar hard disk fault.
Personally, I think you are best to get the player replaced as there's no guarantee this will get better and it's likely to get worse (based on my experience of hard disks).

  • Ipod Touch restarts 'now playing' when turned off?

I use to be a 2nd gen ipod nano user and I just play my songs from the song list (not artist, album, genre etc.). Every time I turn it off and turn it back on, it shows the last song I listened to and the position I'm at (For example, 123 of 400).
Now that I switched over to an ipod Touch, every time I turn it off and turn it back on, it can't remember what song I last listened to and restarts my playlist position (For example, I'm at song 56 of 300 and when I restart it, it goes back to 1 of 300)
This is very frustrating to me. Is there a way for the ipod Touch to do what I described in the ipod nano?? Or is that just the way it's made?!

If you put it in sleep mode by briefly pressing the sleep/wake button on the top, and then go to turn it back on by briefly pressing the sleep/wake button or home button, it will continue where you left off in the playlist.
If you shut it completely down by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button until you get the 'slide to power off' message and then go to turn it back on, it will not continue where you left off. It will just display the playlist you were in.

  • Zen touch - Light stays on when off and other probl

    Hey,
recently my zen has been doing some weird stuff ie when i look for music by selecting genre, it'll automatically start to play any song on the player on shuffle mode.
Also, last night when i switched the player off, the blue light was still on at the side; it started to dim after a few seconds but i found if i shake it slightly the light goes back on again!
I tried to get the the menu where you can choose to cleanup, reload firmwire and so on but it didn't work (it is hold down play button at the same time as the reset button isn't it's)
    can anyone suggest any help?
    thanks in advance

The undocking issue are you sure the arrows are still moving. I made that mistake when I first got the vision M. I thought it was still updating.
The arrows stay still when you can remove the Vision M and kinda rotate, actually move when you are tranferring songs.
    Looks similar.
As for the album art ill try that today and get back to you.

  • Can I make me Zen Touch stop playing music without turning it o

    NM

The stop button is a carry over from the days of cassettes and is not needed on a digital audio player. If you want to stop the track, simply hit the play/pause button.

  • Zen touch has fro

    Hey all,
    I hope someone can help.
My zen touch (20gb) player froze whilst turning off, i let it sit but eventually had to reset it to get it to go off, since then i havent been able to turn it back on and it wont charge, the blue charge indicating light doesnt appear and when i plug it in all i get is the creative logo and the copyright info, i've tried the reboot advice on creatives web page, but that desnt work either!!!
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Iain

My zen touch freezes from time to time, done all the usual things without any improvement. But today discovered that it freezes when used near some electrical equipment for example my wife old treadmill which uses an ac motor, its ok with the new treadmill with a dc motor. So it appears that the zen touch suffers from electrical interference, generally this is in the rf range (radio frequency). I hope this helps many users as it was driving me crazy and it appears it's a huge problem with many people.

  • Re: Zen Touch USB Rechar

Is there any way to prevent the Zen Touch to wake up when an explorer window is opened (or Windows Media Player). This pretty much prevents it from going into recharge mode through USB, and can be quite annoying if you happen to be playing music from it (as the player will stop).

The basic reproduction steps are as follow:
    - I have the player switched off
    - I plug the USB cable to it and the player then turns on automatically and goes into docked mode
    - I cannot switch off the device while in docked mode, nor can I eject it from anywhere.
    - Net result is that I can't recharge it.
Sometimes when I plug it in, it doesn't go into docked mode (probably when I don't have any explorer window acti've or something), in which case I can power it down, but then opening any explorer window will bring it back on.
It would be nice to hear a detailed walkthrough on how to make it recharge without always waking up and going into docked mode because of any activity on the computer

  • Buttons on Zen Touch performing the wrong funct

I've had this problem for a while now on my Zen Touch, where often times when I push the Menu button it acts as if I pressed the Random button instead. At first I though it might have to with the proximity of the buttons to each other, but the other day I hit the Rewind/Back a Track button and it initiated Random mode. Anyone else have this problem or know of any solutions?

I also have the same problem. Is there a fix for this?

  • Zen Touch - loose key-lock but

I bought my Zen Touch last month. When I received it, the key lock-button has already been loose. Now, it falls out of the hole all the time. I have to keep an eye on it to avoid losing it. It bothers me so bad. Does it happen to other Zen Touch ownners? How can I get it fix? I still have the warranty for it's

I have a Touch myself and, luckily, nothing like that happends with mine!
As said, you can contact customer support to see what can be done! Hopefully you'll be able to send it back in to repair or get a new one in return!

  • Zen Touch turning on automatically when connecting to comput

    Hi,
I know that you can charge the Zen Touch via either the power pack or the usb connection.
However, whenever I connect the player to a USB port, it turns itself on. If its turned off, when I connect it should stay turned off but begin to charge the battery, but mine is turning itself on. Does anyone know why?
I can get it to charge via usb but i must connect it, turn it back off and leave it connected, it then begins to charge.
Is there a problem with my Zen and should I take it back and get it fixed/replaced or have I just changed a setting and not noticed?
    Please help me!
    M_Taylor40

It never used to happen before though, and has only just started a few days ago.
It doesn't matter if its been off for the 24hour time period (Think its 24hours) where it would be completely turned off, and it doesn't matter if its the 'soft-off' where the player remembers what it was last doing and turns on almost instantly.
I just thought there might have been a problem as it never used to do it. But I've just checked the manual and it says that it might happen (Side-note to the charging via USB in the getting started section).
Thanks for the reply though and I'll jsut have to remember to turn it back off when I want it to charge.
    Thanks again,

  • Is it safe to attempt to turn on your zen touch while battery is dead

When I first got my micro i turned it on strait out of the box... The micro had about one bar worth of battery power...
When i got my new Zen Touch I was so exited i just ignored the fact that the owners manual says, "Make sure battery is fully charge before use."
I just went a head and tried to turn it on.... When i did, nothin' happened. I thought the touch was broken...
I then plugged it in to the charger and tried to fire it up once more. It worked!!!
Now I'm just curious... Are you damaging your touch when you try to turn it on, on an uncharged battery straight out the box? And when you try to turn it on nothing happens?
    Plz respond.
    Thanks
    Can i cause damage?
    did i cause damage?

    Response to "Troopscoop"
Well I own a white 5 gig zen micro, and a 40 gig zen touch....
the strollpad on both players, in terms of sensitivity & style are alike.
the only difference is, the touch strollpad is longer, that's it.
PS: the micro's back light is way brighter than the touch's though.

  • Problems With Zen Touch Turn

After just recently purchasing a Zen Touch in December 2005, I already have problems with it.
I have never dropped it or hit it. I plugged it in to re-charge one day after using it and when it was done charging I turned it on, used it for 5 minutes then set it down. The next morning I went to turn it on to use it, and it wouldn't turn on. The blue light at the side on the power button was on, but the screen just wouldn't show up. Now the blue light won't turn off. I have read about these problems with Zen Micro freezing up and read about Zen Touch freezing up back in 2004 when it was released. I have phoned the number but couldn't seem to get through. Should I consider taking it in? Or is there an easier way?

Have you tried resetting it's Connect to the mains adapter and press the tiny recessed button on the side of the player. Don't use anything sharp to press it, a bent paper clip is best.

  • Zen Touch Slow Turn

I've owned my Zen Touch for about a couple of months now. It's worked quite fine. Lately though, I find it's been giving me problems, despite the fact that I haven't downloaded any songs to it in over a month.
I used the "Lock" feature a lot to avoid buttons being pressed while stored in the pouch that came with the product.
One day last week, I was playing Going to California from the How the West Was Won album and I wanted to turn it up so I "Unlocked" the player to turn up the volume. The player still registered as being locked and I couldn't unlock it. Normally when locked it responds with the message, "Player Locked", when buttons are pressed but no such message appeared despite me pressing any button. However, the album was still playing and actually went through each song until the end of the album. Once stopped it still didn't respond to me unlocking the player. I got a hold of a paper clip to reset the player, but intead it simply turned off.
I spent a few minutes trying to switch it on. Literally 20 minutes later, the player switched on by itself to the a song that was on the last time the player worked properly...not Going to California on the How the West Was won CD. It was tuned into another track on another CD that I was listening to when I turned it off last.
This happened a couple of times until I used the rescue mode and did a scan and all that. It doesn't lock up anymore, but it sometimes doesn't turn on when pressing the power button. Plugging in the power adaptor used to give the "Creative" logo screen but now it does nothing. It will all of sudden turn on and will work normally(will turn on and off etc.). If I leave it off for a prolonged period and try to turn it on...it will not switch on until 5-0 minutes(never occurs at a fixed time interval) or so has elapsed. So now it only gives me problems when it's been off for a long time...but when it finally does turn on it works fine and can even be powered on and off properly.
This can't be a battery issue because the wall adaptor does not wake it up. Resetting it while it's in its "Post Power on" slumber does nothing as well. It takes a super long time for player to turn itself on and I'm wondering if this is a software or hardware issue and what I can do to solve the problem.

Sounds like a hardware issue unfortunately, but you should try reloading the firmware first to be sure.

  • What do you do when your iPod touch 5th generation will not turn on, and it isn't in recovery mode?

Today, my iPod touch 5th gen wasn't turning on, but during school earlier today it was working just fine. When I got on the bus, it wouldn't turn on? I got home and I plugged it into the charger and tried to see if it would turn on that way, nope. Also, there would be no way for it to be in recovery mode, because of the fact that the home button is pushed in and wont work. I've had my iPod for 2 years, is it just old and decided to give out?

  • Zen Touch wont turn on nor cha

i brought my zen touch 2 days ago, i charged it and once it went dead flat i put it back on charge and now it wont chrage at all or turn on. i tryed charging it thought usb but that wont world either. how suggestions?

    Hiroshima_X,
Is this the Zen 20GB (looks like a Zen Micro)? If so, the reset button is located underneath the power switch (move it to the left and you will see a small button underneath, this is it). To get into rescue mode, hold the switch to the left and the press the reset button (keep the switch held until you get into the rescue mode screen).

  • Zen Touch Battery Drain When Doc

whenever i am transferring my music to my Zen Touch through my computer, the battery in my Zen drains really quick (after maybe 4 hours of transferring, the whole battery could be drained). i thought when it's docked it's supposed to actually charge it's am i doing something wrong or is this a harware issue? thanks!

Only the Micro charges when it's docked. Transferring files uses a MASSIVE amount of batter power. Best to be done with the mains adapter connected if you can.
