Zpool performance drop when more the 90% utilisation of a vdev
I notice that when a vdev of a pool is more then 90% used, the performance of that pool drops and kernel utilisation increase sharply.
We are using solaris 10 u7, I have the following vdev in my pool:

I have some vdev that are low in free space, but hi have some that have plenty of it.
zfs keeps writing on the ones where there is low spaces that generate a lot of kernel activity when it'looking for free space.
Is their a way to tell zfs not to write anymore to does vdev so we can use the other vdev?
The only way that I see to resolve my problem is to do a backup/restore and that should spread the space used.
a zfs reorg or defrag would me nice !!
ZFS tryes to keep the utilziaion even between all vdevs of a single pool. Check your pool with * zfs iostat*

Performance issue when using the same query in a different way
Hello,
I have a performance problem with the statement below when running it with an insert or with execute immediate.
n.b.: This statement could be more optimized, but it is a generated statement.
When I run this statement I get one row back within one second, so there is no performance problem.

insert into okc_compare_results (

Could somebody tell me what causes the different behavior of the "same" statement and what could I do to avoid this behavior.

) s)) The select is executed in 813 msecs
When I execute the same select using execute immediate like:
declare
ln_count number;
begin
execute immediate q'[<select statement>]' into ln_count;
end; This takes 3:56 minutes to complete.
When I change the second coalesce part (the one within the exists) in the flowing way:
the part
coalesce (s.end_val_dat, to_date ('99991231', 'yyyymmdd')) >= sysdate
is replaced by
s.end_val_dat >= sysdate or s.end_val_dat is nullthen the execution time is even faster (560 msecs) in both, the plain select and the select using the execute immediate. -
Performance Problem when executing the report for the first time.
Hi,
We have a Zreport...to improve the performance i created Index on few Data Base table..before my changes it used to take more than 15 minutes after the changes it taking less than 1 min for the same variant and for other variants also.
But when executing the first in morning its taking the same time more than 15 min. Please let me know how to increase the performance when executing first time also,
Thanks,
Kiran.Hi all,
Appreciate your valuable replies...
@ Thomas: i do accept with your solution running a background job..but user is not accepting for it..thanks for your reply.
@Siegfried Boes : for testing purpose Im running this manytimes..but for user they may
require when ever they need to know open oders.the volume of the data is barongs 300-350 at
max.
@Brad Bohn : After creating the index the repose time reduced to half ...i hope i have
created a right index.
Observation here...I executed the report in production system more than 5 times it took the
same time, my changes are still in quality..so i think may be for selecting the right index
its taking this much time.and for the next time is taking right index n doing it so it taking
less.
Do you accept it?.if so Please let me know how to explicitly say the select statement to
use my index.
Thanks,
kiran. -
GTX 760 OC 2GB Fps drops and performance drops when reach 2GB
Hey after this problems with the GTX970, I decided to test my graphic card which I received from the RMA because the last one just gone, and when reach almost 2GB of ram used the performance drops a lot like in the 970, In games like Assetto Corsa I'm feeling this problem, sometimes I have drops from 60 fps to 20 fps ..
My model is the GTX 760 OC GAMING 2GB but the last which gone had the difference in the memory chip, using hynix memories instead of this new one which have Elpida.
Any idea?Quote from: Nichrome on 01-February-15, 19:52:28

Performance troubles when fetching the descriptions
Hello,
I have some bad performances in a web interface. I could correct some of them help to aggregates, but I am facing a bizarre situation.
I have one variable for 0EMPLOYEE. I fetch the characteristic values help to an exit function, and this works fast and well.
However, I display the description of the employees and not their key codes. I am not coding anything for fetching the descriptions, I let SAP BPS standard do the job.
When I trace the system, it appears that SAP creates a view joining the tables /BI0/QEMPLOYEE and /BI0/TEMPLOYEE, in order to get TXTMD. I do not understand why ... I already have the key codes needed to fetch the descriptions. I do not use any attributes for the descriptions.
Here is the generated code :
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW "/BI0/0302679610" AS SELECT "Q"."SOURSYSTEM" ,"Q"."EMPLOYEE" ,"T"."TXTMD" FROM "/BI0/QEMPLOYEE" "Q" , "/BI0/TEMPLOYEE" "T" WHERE "Q"."SOURSYSTEM" = "T"."SOURSYSTEM"() AND "Q"."EMPLOYEE" = "T"."EMPLOYEE"() AND
( "Q"."CHANGED" = ' ' OR "Q"."CHANGED" = 'I' ) AND "Q"."DATETO" >= '20070101' AND "Q"."DATEFROM" <= '20070101' AND "Q"."SOURSYSTEM" = 'R1' AND ( "Q"."EMPLOYEE" = '00904096' OR "Q"."EMPLOYEE" = '00904085' OR "Q"."EMPLOYEE" = '00904077'
OR "Q"."EMPLOYEE" = '00904065' OR
"Q"."EMPLOYEE" = '00904056' OR
"Q"."EMPLOYEE" = '00904053' ...................
I have the same problem with 0VENDOR, whose variable is not based on exit function but hierarchies. No problem to collect the list of the vendors, but the same problem when fetching their descriptions.
Regards
LaurentLaurent,
For a similar problem which I had faced earlier with
Material InfoObject, we had to create indexes on the
Master Data and also we put restrictions on the level
definitions on the Material InfoObject to look at some
selective Materials rather than million of them. This
approach worked and the amount of time it took to
display reduced to one eighth of the original time.
Hope this helps.

Performance issues while accessing the Confirm/Goods Services' transaction
Hello
We are using SRM 4.0 , through Enterprise Portal 7.0.
Many of our users are crippled by Performance issues when accessing the Confirm/Goods Services tab( Transaction bbpcf02).
The system simply clocks and would never show the screen.
This problem occurs for some users all the time, and some users for some time.
It's not related to the User's machine as others are able to access it fast using the same machine.
It is also not dependent on the data size (i.e.no . of confirmations created by the user).
We would like to know why only some users are suffering more pronouncedly, and why is this transaction generally slower than all others.
Any directions for finding the Probable cause will be highly rewarded.
Thanks
KedarHi Kedar,
Please go through the following OSS Notes:
Note 610805 - Performance problems in goods receipt
Note 885409 - BBPCF02: The search for confirmation and roles is slow
Note 1258830 - BBPCF02: Display/Process confirmation response time is slow

Connections drop when using Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client
Folks I have a strange issues. I have a few laptops that I'm testing using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Network Access Manager. We like the interface and overall are happy, but have one nagging issue. Periodically the connection drops when using the client, and the only way to reconnect is to choose the Network repair option on the client. That fixes it just fine, but we shouldn't have to do this. The same clients using the built in WIndows supplicant do not have this problem. We are on version 3.0.07059.
Right now I'm testing on a single access point (autonomous) with WEP! The same laptop works fine without the Cisco client. Usually it is several hours, 12 or more when it happens, but I've seen it less than that. And I've seen it up for over a day and a half. At this point I just don't trust the client to roll out to a larger audience.

Performance problem when using CAPS LOCK piano input
Dear reader,
I'm very new to Logic and am running into a performance problem when using the CAPS LOCK-piano-keyboard for input of an instrument: when I'm not recording everything is fine and the program instantly responds on my keystrokes, but as soon as I go into record-mode there is sometimes a delay in the response-time (so I press a key and it takes up to half a second longer before the note is actually played).
Is there anything to do about this to improve performance (for example turning of certain features of the application), or should I never use the CAPS LOCK keyboard anyway and go straight for an external MIDI-keyboard?
Thanks and regards,
Tim MetzDoes your project have Audio tracks and just how heavy it is, how many tracks? Also, what kind of Software Instrument do you use?

When I go the drop down from the address window, rather than showing the URL of the website I want open in a second tab it says "Switch to tab." But I don't want to switch to the tab - I want to open a second tab on the same URL. If I want to open it a second time I have to manually key in the address. Is there some way to turn this off so I can open up the second tab using the same address from the drop down? I have always been able to do this with previous versions of Firefox.

I wish to replicate the behavior of IE (heresy - I know!) when opening the drop-down Bookmarks (i.e., Favorites) menu so that I don't have to repeatedly "drill-down" into one or more subfolders in order to select the same bookmark as before or to select any of the other (saved) ones in the same subfolder.
I always wanted to know if this was possible since I happily began using FF several years ago, but never found the time to ask until now.
Currently using FF4 on WinXP Pro SP3 occasionally along w/ IE8 and its wonderful "Save Target As ..." right-click option.I figgered it out. The resolution of the screen was set at 600x800, so the bookmarks dropdown menu took up more space than usual. The pop out folder contents didn't have enough room to pop out. With a resolution for a slightly smaller display the drop down bookmarks menu functions perfectly.

Different Files Returned when using the Drop Down list on the Search Results Page
Hi
I have a result set of 22 documents when I select Date (Newest) from the drop down on the search results page. The third document down is called "LL".
If I now select Date (Oldest) I have a result Set of 22 documents. However, when I move to the second page. The number of documents has reduced to 20 documents and my document "LL" which I would have expected to be the third from bottom document
is not there.
Am I doing something wrong here ? Search is OOTB. I have added some refiner columns.
Regards
Nigel
Nigel Price NJPEnterprisesHi Nigel,
It is by design. The "About x results" is presented when the total number of results is uncertain, and that is when collapsing (i.e. duplicate detection in this case) is enabled and the result set is partially processed. By default, a result page
shows 10 results at the time. Therefore, for result sets with less than or equal to 10 results you will always get an accurate number of results and hence “About” is omitted. For more than 10 results you will get the “About x results” on the first page until
you get to the last page of results and only then we know the exact number of results and hence can omit the “About”.
Note that when you page out in the result set you will notice that the X in the “About X results” can vary quite a lot. That is because the total number of results is estimated based on the collapsing done so far. This is a common way of doing it by other
search engines as well.
Here is a simlar post for your reference:
http://spbreed.wordpress.com/2013/09/14/sharepoint-2013-solution-to-inconsistent-search-results-count/
I hope this helps.

Wendy

Major Performance Loss when the charger is plugged in
I have a Toshiba Satellite L50D-ASTNX, and have been noticing severe performance loss when I have my charging cable plugged in, whether it is losing frame rate in a video game, or receiving extreme stutters and cpu underruns when producing music on FL Studio 11. When I'm not plugged in my performance is great on high performance mode, but the second I plug in my charger I receive an instant and noticeable drop in performance and IT IS FRUSTRATING to say the least. This has nothing to do with my battery settings, nor does it have anything to do with my advance power settings because I have checked all of that. If anyone has a solution to this please let me know because I'm tired of getting only an hour of use on my laptop before I have to plug the charger bac in and leave it alone since it struggles to perform when charging.
OS: Windows 8.1
Ram: 8gb
CPU/GPU: AMD A8-5545M APU 1.7ghzHey cacobo,
I found an article that can help with troubleshooting an iPhone's receiver or speakers.
iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1630
Verify that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack, including headsets, headphones, or adapters.
Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is not switched to silent.
While on the Home screen, adjust the volume buttons. If you see the icon below, indicating that headphones are attached, there may be debris or an object lodged in the headset jack:
Check the headset jack. If there is an object lodged in the headset jack that is not easily removed, have the iPhone serviced to remove object.
For Original iPhone: If there is light debris, such as lint, in the headset jack, try connecting a pair of headphones to the headset jack and then remove the headphones. Repeat this several times to remove the debris.
If you have installed a protective film on the display, either ensure that the receiver is not covered or remove the film completely.
Check the receiver mesh (which is on the top front of the device, above the display). If it appears blocked, use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush to carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If you have paired with a Bluetooth headset that is nearby, either use the headset or turn Bluetooth off (chooseSettings > General > Bluetooth).
Restart the iPhone.
If restarting the iPhone doesn't resolve the issue, try restoring the device.
If the issue persists, go to the Service Answer Center - iPhone for information on service.
Hope that helps,

When will the atrocious OpenGL performance be fixed?
I have a 15" MBP w/ the 8600m GT and have been suffering with absolutely terrible OpenGL performance ever since I bought it. I am aware this is not a new issue and I am not alone, but I was reminded of just how bad the situation is when I was reading a review of a new Santa Rosa-based MacBook, and it included OpenGL performance tests. Of course the MBP beat the regular MB in OpenGL performance, but the iMac with a Radeon 2600 beat the MBP by about 30%, even though the MBP has vastly superior graphics hardware. This is unacceptable. This has been unacceptable for many many many months. Does anyone from Apple ever read these forums? You've had months and months to fix this issue. If an MBP user just installs Boot Camp he instantly gets double the OpenGL performance in Windows. Have I mentioned this is unacceptable? When will this be fixed?
in addition to poor open GL performance, i've also had problems with any program utilizing antialiasing support. i recently sat down and called apple and had a discussion with their support line. while i didn't mention the poor open GL performance, i did mention the graphical errors i was experiencing with my MBP. i was told these issues are not normal, and have a replacment on the way. while these issues are some what numerous, i've not been able to find much more than a few articles or discussions on the topic. i'm hoping this means it is contained to a few MBPs and not all. we'll see when the replacment comes. if not, however, i'd consider a class action suit. the machine i bought was sold as a portable gaming machine, (apple.com/games/hardware) and thats not what i've gotten. i am very disappointed that apple has not even acknowledged the issue to let us know some fix is in the works. if enough of us make a big enough noise about it, perhaps we can get some sort of reply. i'd recommend you sending a note to apple as mentioned, then take some time to sit and give apple a call. they are very interested in listening to you, don't feel silly about calling about game perfromance, they are advertising these machines as such.
