Can't connect to my domain

hello,
I have a server 2012R2 and a mac with vmware, every time i try to connect to my domain with my machine, it doesn't work. I always get error can't connect to AD DC, active directory domain controller, My DHCP is running on my server and my DHCP on  my
router is turned of, and also entered HTTP HTTPS RDP ports, Buth i am able to connect by remote desktop connection. i have set
do i need to let my server let him self use DHCP for him to find his IP or set it as static, on my pc I also don't use a static ip should i change that.
the error i get on my pc

I'm not clear on your explanation.  Are you running a Mac with VMware?  Have you installed a 2012 R2 VM within VMware?  Is this VM your domain controller?  When you say you are able to connect by remote desktop connection, do you mean
that you can connect from your Mac to the Windows Server using a Mac RDP program?  When asking about DHCP for the server, if you have set up the Windows Server as a domain controller, that requires a fixed IP address.
It always helps debug networking issues if you provide the output from ipconfig /all on both the source and destination machines.  If your source machine is a Mac, I don't know the equivalent command, but the same sort of output is useful.

  • Can't connect to server domain from server

    Hi,
Since 2 days ago, i stop being able to connect to server domain from its own browsers. I'll try to explai:
I've my server up and running, you can check here: http://www.servidorlocal.com. I'm able to connect to this domain from all computers inside network and from my IOS devices over 3G.
The problem is when i try to connect from the server itself (safari, chrome, etc) always give me an error telling that cannot find the host.
Trying to connect over localhost or 127.0.0.1 it also works, but with the domain didn't work...
    I cant understand why.
Hope someone here can help me solving this issue.
    Regards
    Mozack

    OK,
I've solved the problem. If someone with the same problem, here what i do:
    1 - System > Preferences > Network
2 - Choose from the list the network adapter that server uses, in my case is the LAN adapter.
    3 - Click Advanced
4 - Re-configure the LAN connection (even with the same data).
5 - OK, server running locally too.
    Thanks

  • Can't connect to a domain pc remotely from home pc

    Hi
I am trying to connect to my work PC, which is connected to a domain, from my house PC.
The house PC is on a wifi network, and the work domain PC on a DSL network.
I have the IP address of the domain PC that I'm trying to connect to.
I used teamviewer to connect to it, but suddenly teamviewer doesn't connect anymore.
The PC that I'm trying to connect to has it's remote desktop allow connections enabled under the My Computer --> System Properties --> Remote Settings
Steps I took to try and connect via remote desktop:
    1. opened Remote Desktop Connection
    2. Typed in the IP address
    3. An error comes up saying: "Remote desktop cannot connect to the remote computer for one of the following reasons"
I've tried the port fowarder, ip-address:3389   but that does not seem to work...
How can I remotely connect to my pc?

Are you using the free version. As i know with free version after certain time it stops working. Happened to me in the past.
I always have a backup remote connection you can try one of these but you need to install these software on the remote machine first.
This one is free only for personal use and it works really well. Once configured on both end you have the option of RDP in this software.

  • DNS: Client can't connect because .local domain isn't in DNS. How can I connect over the WAN to server.domain.local?

So my 2012 server is set up on the LAN with a .local domain name.
Remote Desktop Services are set up and remoteapp stuff works fine on the LAN.
I've set up port forwarding so I can connect to the server over the WAN too, but remoteapp stuff is a bit different. I can connect to the server by specifying the correct IP address. Giving a Web browser the address
    https://serverIPAddress/RDWeb
lets me get the login screen and see the range of apps for me to run. I select one, the connectoid is downloaded correctly (in Chrome) and I click on the downloaded connectoid.
Unfortunately, rather than pursuing the sensible IP-address approach that I started with, the connectoid has been given the server's name on the LAN:  server.domain.local. Clearly, the client machine tries to look this up but DNS hasn't heard of
it because it's a .local address.
I cannot be the only one to have come across this apparent oversight on Microsoft's part. Any ideas as to how this can sensibly be overcome? Obviously, I could put the IP address translation into every client's hosts file (and I've done this and shown it
works) but I've got too many clients to mess about like this. Anybody know 'the Microsoft way' to fix this?
Thank you for checking this out -- I am confident the details of the problem are completely specified in this query but, if I'm wrong, please ask.
    Many thanks again,
    Biffo

    Hi,
I would like to suggest you to follow the checklist.

  • Can't connect to personal domain since iLife upgrade

I would REALLy appreciate any direction here
I have a site - www.askkaty2write.com - which I give clients to see my writing samples. I upgraded it iLife09 yesterday and now cannot connect to my personal domain. I get the "Looking for something on Mobile Me" error page. I am totally freaking out.
I phoned Godaddy, who told me that the domain name is still pointed to the mobileme servers, and really, all that has changed in 24 hours is the upgrade, so it must lie within Apple. I used the online tech support but literally got no where - two different tech people who couldn't help at all.
Any type of direction would be so very appreciated. thank you!!

You use URL forwarding to this page that does not exist :
    http://web.me.com/katykrassner/Site3/The_WriteStuff.html
Your default page in Site_3 is :
    http://web.me.com/katykrassner/Site3/Ask_Katy_2Write.html
Perhaps using only the Sitename will get you out of trouble when you change/delete pages.:
    http://web.me.com/katykrassner/Site_3/
If you change/delete the Sitename you will get the same problem.
One can avoid this kind of "problems" by simple paying attention to what one does, and remember it.

I've been trying to debug errors one at a time, but I'm having a hard time finding any information that pertains to this issue as a whole. Anything you can tell me about this would be great, thank you for reading.

It was the only server in the network, the only dc in the old forest. When I re-installed ad ds I gave the new forest different name, but I guess the old settings are still in the system somewhere conflicting with the new setup? Is there a way to
purge the old setup entirely and start over with ad ds, or am I going to have to re-install the whole OS? Thanks again for the help.
Honestly, the best way to handle this is to rebuild the server. There are many things that are "left behind" when you remove the Domain / Forest from a Domain Controller. In fact many articles will say after using ADMT (active directory migration
tool) you should decommission the original Domain Controller (aka reinstall the OS).
While you could spend more time trying to get that domain controller working, it absolutely is going to be 1) More reliable 2) faster to reinstall the OS on the old domain controller. If you are still leveraging storage, or services on that domain controller,
you will want to back them up, or have a transition plan before reinstalling everything on the server. I have a feeling if you choose to keep troubleshooting this, you will run into more issues down the road.

  • Windows Server 2012 Foundation, in a Workgroup - "The server did not finish checking the license compliance. If the server is joined to a domain, make sure that the server can connect to a domain controller"...

Every few days we see two dialogs with the following messages:
Dialog 1, title: Check for Licensing Compliance is Incomplete
The server did not finish checking the license compliance. If the server is joined to a domain, make sure that the server can connect to a domain controller.
Dialog 2, title: Check for Licensing Compliance is Incomplete
The server did not finish checking the license compliance. If the server is joined to a domain, make sure that the server can connect to a domain controller. If the license compliance check cannot be completed, the server will automatically shut
    down in 8 day(s) 23 hour(s) 0 minute(s).
The server is not (and never has been) joined to a domain or had any DC roles installed. In fact its still connected to the default Workgroup.
The server was configured in our office and never showed this message until it was installed on site. The main difference from what I can see is that when installed on site it was given a static IP address and does not have any DNS settings in the network
    adapter properties.
I have scoured a number of forums on this error but in almost every other instance of this error message the servers are connected to a Domain Controller and the solutions generally are linked to dis-joining and rejoining the domain. Unfortunately this is
not an option for this scenario.
I initially thought that adding some relevant DNS server IP address may resolve the issue, however, we have the exact same model server configured exactly the same running at a different site that does not experience this problem. This server also has no
    DNS server configured.
I have seen a post that suggests turning off the servers "Foundation Checking", but I'm unsure how to do this.

    Thanks for your response Vivian.
I can confirm that this server is not (and never has been) a member of any active directory, it is configured as a Workgroup server. It was initially configured on a network that does have an active directory, but was never joined to it. During that time it
    never displayed these messages.
The server was moved into production on a different site and network and setup with a static IP address. The site network does have its own active directory but the server was not joined to it. It is whilst on this new network that these messages began.
Since my original post DNS servers have been added and the Microsoft activation has been verified, however, the messages are still appearing.
There are only 2 user accounts configured on this server. The local admin account and another local admin user.
The remote desktop services roles have been installed but not yet configured. I don't think that has any bearing on this scenario though.
The description of this error in the above "Introduction to Windows Server 2012 Foundation" link states:
This error occurs when the server cannot finish checking the requirements for the root domain, forest trust configuration, or both. It usually happens when the server cannot connect to a domain controller. If the situation persists, the server will
shut down 10 days after the first time the compliance check failed. Each time this error message occurs, it will state the actual time remaining before the server will shut down. If you restart the server after it has shut down because of non-compliance, the
server will shut itself down again in 3 days.
The above description leads me to the following question - In a Workgroup environment, does the server still try to contact a domain controller to establish a level of trust? If this is the case could it be that the server can no longer see the initial DC
on its new network and this is what is triggering the messages?
Am I clutching at straws here?

  • Can't connect to server after binding to domain

Hey there, I need to join my MacBook Pro to a Windows Domain, I followed all the instructions to set up Directory Access and am able to bind the computer to the Domain, but when I try to connect to server I get the error message: "Can't connect to Server: Directory Services may not be installed on the remote server, they may be turned off, or the URL may have been entered incorrectly."
None of the reason noted in the error message are true, so any idea of what the culprit may be?
    Thanks,
    Tim

Anyone? This is really driving me batty - I can not figure out why it won't connect...

  • Can't connect to DFS shares from machines not part of the domain

I'm not sure if this is by design, but we can't connect to DFS shares from machines that are not joined to the domain.  We can't even map a drive using credentials of a domain account.
Is that how DFS is supposed to work?

    Hi RJO22,
I did some research on this topic, and got a conclusion:
Clients that belong to a workgroup can only access the DFS namespace if the name resolution mechanism that is in place can locally resolve the domain name

  • Outlook 2013 client, not in domain, can't connect to the Exchange 2013 server.

    Hello everyone,
A colleague and me are in the process of rebuilding our Hosted Exchange servers. Everything is working perfectly except for the local Outlook 2013 clients. They are not in the domain but in the same network (through VLANs) as our Exchange server, and still
they can't connect to Exchange without the use of Outlook anywhere. If we use Outlook Anywhere, it connects perfectly. If I ping the Exchange servers (1 CAS, 2 MBX servers) I get response with the right IP addresses.
We've tried to create a new profile, this goes without problems. We enter the FQDN (or IP address) of CAS server and the required usersname, and the FQDN gets resolved to the correct MBX server where the mailbox resides on. We complete the whole wizard and
then start Outlook. We then get the error that Outlook can't logon to the Exchange server.
Is this an authentication setting that is wrong or do we need to use Outlook Anywhere if the PC is not in the same domain as the Exchange server?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Agree with Martina, all Outlook clients use RPC over HTTP to connect to Exchange 2013. if the server version is Exchange 2013 SP1, only Outlook 2013 SP1 use MAPI over HTTP to connect to server after we enable the protocol MAPI over HTTP.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
    Thanks,

  • SSAS can't connect to services via IP; only domain

Is there some FMS-specific reason why a sendAndLoad function in SSAS couldn't connect to a site on an IP address? Are there any configurations that would need to be set to allow/deny this type of connection? We have a server instance that can only connect to sites hosted on fully qualified domains.

IPs should work for this, so I'll have to go for a few meta reasons perhaps
    1. Perhaps the DNS is resolving to an IP that's not the one being targetted, we should probably double check that
    2. Since a lot of load balancers end up serving a different IP to handle the traffic than is initially targetted we may be getting redirected via DNS but IP isn't working.
I'd confirm from that machine directly if possible - if not then I'd check if FMS from its general SSAS can connect to the IP as desired - if it can then perhaps there's a bug we're unaware of in there.

  • Can't connect to workgroup from domain

I have a small domain and also a Win7 and a Vista machine each in a workgroup. I'm unable to connect to C$ or Admin$ on the workgroup machine from any of the domain machines. I'm using an account on the workgroup machine using an account that's
in the local admin group using hostname\username format (also tried
username@hostname). File and Print Sharing is enabled and I even tried turning off the firewall but that didn't help. I can ping them, I just can't connect to C$ or Admin$. I've tried connecting to both
    \\hostname\C$ and
    \\IPaddress\C$.

    Try this
    http://www.winsupersite.com/article/windows-7/windows-7-feature-focus-homegroup
    or
Click on the start menu and type secpol.msc in the search box. Browse to "Local Policies" => "Security
    Options".
Search the option as "Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level" make double click to open it. Click
on the dropdown menu and choose "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated". Now Apply the configured settings.
In the setting of Advanced sharing, Page of Network and sharing center, you need to have it set as Work/Home
profile and follow some guidelines and try out this :
    -Enable network discovery
-Turn on file and print sharing
    -Turn off password protected sharing
-Use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers
Another settings like encryption that I have set as use 128 bit encryption.
and check the related policies with the following way :
    1. Type “gpedit.msc” in the Start=>Search box.
    2. Browse “Computer Configuration”/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Local Policies/Security Settings.
    3. In the right pane, enable the following policies:
Network access: Allow anonymous SID/name translation
Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users

    # also has a small subnet behind his connecting
    # machine, such as 192.168.40.128/255.255.255.248.

    ;client-config-dir ccd
    ;route 192.168.40.128 255.255.255.248
    # Then create a file ccd/Thelonious with this line:
    # iroute 192.168.40.128 255.255.255.248
    # This will allow Thelonious' private subnet to
    # access the VPN. This example will only work
    # if you are routing, not bridging, i.e. you are
    # using "dev tun" and "server" directives.
    # EXAMPLE: Suppose you want to give
    # Thelonious a fixed VPN IP address of 10.9.0.1.
    # First uncomment out these lines:
    ;client-config-dir ccd
    ;route 10.9.0.0 255.255.255.252
