Clone EBS without shutdown EBS

EBS version: 12.1.3the general method to clone EBS system is to shutdown the appTier and dbTier and then copy all the file to target system, and use adcfgclone to config.
I want to know how to clone the EBS system online(without shutdown apps and db).
I suppose I can copy a part of EBS files and use RMAN to recover db ,at last run adcfgclone. Is it OK?

RMAN clone EBS

Hi:
I am using RMAN to clone EBS R12. After the clone I checked the log file against the /staging/.../PROD (data files) and found last three files are not in the log file that mean they are not copied. We use "SET UNTIL SEQUENCE 80426 THREAD 1". Is that Okay or the clone is failed?

There were no errors in the log file except at the end it says

But I managed to open the database. I did get error like flash area space problem. After increase the db_recovery_file_dest_size, the database and apps are up and running.
How to compare schemas and table records? So normally, all the datafiles should be copied/cloned to the target instnace, right?

Add shared disks without shutdown vm

Hi all,
we have a Pc with VMWare 2 and two VMS with
Oracle 10g on RAC and CentOS 4.7 . There are two nodes (or vms): rac1 and rac2.
Each VM has shared SCSI disks.
Is there any way to add shared disks without shutdown the VMs?

You must shutdown the instance.
but in your case, I dont know, maybe shutdown one VM, add the disk, and restart.
So, shutdown other vm, add the same disk, and restart. After, you can add the disk to disk group
if you are using ASM.

Synchronous System Clock without shutdown DB

Is there any way to synchronous the system clock without shutdown the database ?

Oracle does read date and time from the OS time & date settings. Whatever your OS shows as date and time, it also extracts the same. To change the system time & date, you dont need to shutdown the database.

Oracle database error after clone EBS 11i.

I am getting following error ORA-01578 message when I open forms after the cloning.
APP-FND-01564: Oracle error 1578 in fdmgrated.
But no error in database alert log file.
Clone was done by RMAN.
Oracle 10gR2 on AIX.

Rapid clone ebs 12.1.3 with rdbms 11.2.0.3

I want to clone my oracle ebs environment
source server : karamba
source database : PROD
Target server : djaraff
target database : CLNE
I follow the oracle support document ID 406982.1.
But when i run perl adcfgclone.pl
i have the error

I do not have any docs for cloning 11.0.3 on Windows, but I have the document for cloning (release 11.5.1 to 11.5.5 non-AutoConfig enabled Oracle Applications systems) which I think is no longer available on Metalink (and of course not supported anymore). Making atabase clone (but without data=rows) from hot-backup

I am newbie in Oracle administration. I am using Oracle 10g database. I would like to clone database i.e. make an exact copy of tablespaces, tables, indexes, triggers, functions etc. but without data.
What is the most efficient way to do it.? I am having the full hot backup of another database. Is it possible to restore a that backup using rman but without data (=rows) on the fresh installed oracle database

I don't think RMAN has the feature you are looking for.
For this purpose, it could be easier to use:
- either old export with FULL=Y ROWS=N
- or new data pump export with CONTENT=METADATA_ONLY.
However in both cases you would need to recreate the empty database before importing the export file.

Delete the database without shutdown!!!!

Hey all....
I delete my database (rm -Rf *) without doing a dbshut.
Now i am trying create the same database ( the same instance ) and i get this message: the db is running... destroy the db first.
(i already kill the processes with my instance)
I know that if i reboot my machine will works.
But there is another way without rebooting??
Because the db is in a server with others db.. and i just can't reboot.... =/

Disconnecting iPod without shutdown of iTunes

As my iTunes library grew (with Use Disk option true), at around 20GB, I became unable to successfully "eject" disconnect the iPod from iTunes. The message is that iPod could not be ejected because "applications" are still using the files - the only app is iTunes. If I then shutdown iTunes and use the XP "Safely Remove Hardware" mechanism, the iPod will be released. Is this a library size issue? Is there a way to get iTunes to release the iPod without having to shut down iTunes?

I have BI server with a few repositories. I need to replace one of them with a backup file. But I don't want to shutdown BI server because the other repository is in production use. Is there way how to do it?

The server's got a lock on the file while it's up and running. So the only possibility you have is to open the rpd in online mode and adjust your rpd manually to match your backup.

EBS 12.1.3 & clone from non-shared to shared appl tier: adcfgclone.pl error

we have Oracle EBS 12.1.3 with 11gR2 in IBM AIX7.1. We are now cloning it from a non-shared appl tier to a shared appl tier. Shared appl tier is located in the network drive which uses NetApp.
I've been following these documents:
- Cloning Oracle Applications Release 12 with Rapid Clone (Doc ID 406982.1)
- Sharing The Application Tier File System in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 384248.1]
- Using Load-Balancers with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (Doc ID 380489.1)
DB clone went without problems, but now I'm getting strange problems when trying to run adcfgclone.pl for apps tier:

What I meant to say that CTXORIG.xml already exists in the correct directory in the target system:
$COMMON_TOP/clone/context/apps
Anyways, I recopied the file from source to the target system $COMMON_TOP/clone/context/apps, but still the same problem. I'll continue reading "Troubleshooting RapidClone issues with Oracle Applications R12 [ID 603104.1]".

EBS 11i java error during clone.

Hi,
I am getting following error during the clone EBS 11i on IBM AIX 6.1.
applmgr@PROD11]/u01/oracle/prod11comn/clone/bin> perl adcfgclone.pl appsTier
ERROR: cannot find jre or java under /u01/oracle/prod11comn/clone/bin/../jre/bin
Please verify that you ran adpreclone.pl successfully

Hi,
check if any softlinks pointing to the source path under $COMMON_TOP/clone/jre/bin.
if not delete clone directory under $COMMON_TOP/ on target node
rerun adpreclone.pl on source node,
copy the $COMMON_TOP/clone fro source to target and retest the issue.
