Details section repeating same data

I have created a report using Crystal Reports 2008 that uses a group.  The details section of the group is repeating the data 11 times when it should only print it out once, before moving on to the next group.
When I copy the SQL query out of Crystal into SQL server the query only returns the info once for each group so why is the report printing it out 11 times for each group?
How can I fix this.

Check whether you have any joins between the tables. Also first try to place the fields from only one table and check when the values start repeating by placing the fields from each table.

    Not very intuitive, but you'll need to do this so you download the runtime and not the full version.

    SAP, where do I send the bill for supporting your own product?
    I too have the same problem. Hopefully we can get a solution to this soon as the delayed release of the 2010 runtime has us in a difficult place.
    The problem: I upgraded my project to Visual Studio 2010; therefore, I upgraded to the Crystal Reports for Studio 2010 beta.
    Everything worked fine until I modified the app.config so that I could deploy the application into our test environment. We do not have Visual Studio installed in this environment, so we needed to have a Crystal Reports Runtime. According to the SAP website deployment guide, currently the only way to deploy a 2010 app is to use the 2008 runtime by modifying the app.config file to redirect the bindings.
    __Now, none of my date fields appear on the reports.__
    Just to test, in my development environment, I commented out the redirects in the app.config and the dates appeared. I uncommented the redirects so that the 2008 runtime would be used and then my dates disappeared from the report.
    Here is the entry I put into the app.config:

  • In detail section Static Text should not be repeat.

    hi.
    i need a small Requirement.
    in detail section i put one field this is coming from data base.
    beside i put one static text like something.
    but something static text is repeating based on record set in detail section like
    something    value1
    something    value2
    something     value3
    but i dont want to repeat something, only first line i need to put
    like
    something valu1
                    value2
                    value3
    i dont want to put report section.
    i need to put same line at detail section....

    there's a couple of ways to do this:
    a) right click on the something field and choose Format Field > go to the Common tab and then select Suppress if duplicated
    b) or you may wish to go to the Insert menu, choose Group, and then choose your field that contains the something. then you can right click on the Group Header name at the left of the report designer, choose Section Expert, and then choose Underlay Sections.

  • Master/Detail? Repeating Tables - Combine data from 2 repeating tables to one cell in sharepoint

    Hi there, new to infopath.  I have 2 sections in my form which are hidden and display based on the department selected.  So Department A versus Department B, a section opens for details pertaining to that Department.  So in each
    section I have similar information requirements, similar but not exactly the same.  Now I was able to create hidden fields that will concat the values from both sections in the instances of similar data (i.e. Name, Department location, etc, so if Department
    A fills in Name on their section, then someone else submits the same form for Department B I still have one column of metadata in SP to displace the Name regardless of department or section they filled data into). However now I am stuck, I have repeating
    tables in both sections and I want to concate the entries to output to the sharepoint list for that cell.  However everything I have tried so far only concats the 1st value in the repeating table.  Is there a way to take ALL of the data from
    two repeating tables and merge them into one column/cell in sharepoint (metadata for the one form entry)???  I want to avoid having to create a excessive "views" of a list in order to accomodate the needs for BOTH departments.  I hope
    this is clear.  Thanks for your help!

  • Fill the blank detail section with dates

    Hello,
    I'm using Crystal reports X1. I have group by "Ticket Number". In the detail section of the ticket number I have a field that stores a date called "SevDate"
    This is how it looks like
    Ticket Number    SevDate
    IM44-0023546
    IM44-0023546   03/20/2010
    IM44-0023546
    IM44-0023546
    IM44-0023546
    What I'm trying to do is get this date repeated or filled in the next detail section of the Ticket Number.
    so, basically I'm trying to see the report like this and this should be in a date format so I can do some other calculation.
    Ticket Number    SevDate
    IM44-0023546
    IM44-0023546   03/20/2010
    IM44-0023546   03/20/2010
    IM44-0023546   03/20/2010
    IM44-0023546   03/20/2010
    How can I achieve this task? Please assist...
    Thank you
    Angel

    Let me count the ways...
    1)  If you want the same date for all records for a given ticket number (which actually is not what's shown), then you could group on ticket number and use Maximum(, ) as the field displayed.
    2)  If you want the last non-null SevDate (apparently), you could use a formula like (basic syntax):
    global sevDate as date
    if Not isNull({SevDate}) then
      sevDate = {SevDate}
    end if
    formula = sevDate
    3)  You could change the generation of the data set (use an SQL Command) to return the date you want in each record.
    Which one to use will depend on your requirements...

    Carl

  • Unrelated data in master detail sections of a custom BIP  report deployed in R12 EBS

    We have a custom Master Detail BIP report generated by calling XDO APIs from a custom Java concurrent program (common_report_attachment) . This Java concurrent program is called from another custom concurrent program (po_validation) that processes a batch of POs in a single concurrent request.
    PO_Validation Program (processes a batch of POs per request) -> Java Concurrent Program -> BI Publisher Report APIs

    Issue: Sometimes when the parent concurrent request runs for a batch with multiple POs the report generated for the last PO has inconsistent data in the master and detail sections. To elaborate, the detail section is having correct data pertaining to the PO identified by the parameter "P_TRX_HDR_ID". However, the master section is having data pertaining to the previous PO processed from the same batch.
    This issue is not occurring consistently and is not reproducible at will. I
    'm suspecting this could be because of not having data link between the queries but confirm from someone who has experienced this issue.

    is there any way from the page, can we pass the some values, which can identify the page level data?
    if so pass the parameter to BIP report query.

  • Avoid repeating values in details section

    Hi,
    I have a report with a lot of formulas - depending on certain values in a certain Oracle database table values are summed up.
    The fields are therefore placed in the report footer.
    As I now have to insert a grouping I need to move the fields into the details section. However, I don't want to display each value there but only the sum - I would like to avoid repeating values in the details section.
    A formula looks like this:
    stringvar A1;
    if {OUR_TABLE_FIELD} = 1 then A1 := {OTHER_TABLE.OTHER_FIELD}
    Else A1:=A1;
    A1;
    Thanks!

    Add a suitable group and then display data in this group footer, suppress detail section. It will effectively show the last detail line and thus eliminate duplicates from view. However, data is still there so if you want to use summaries you will need to use Running totals to ensure duplicates are not counted/summed

  • Detail Section:Printing subtotals of group of data by row w/ no subreports

    CR Xi
    Tables: Opportunity (fields Opportunity.OpportunityID)
                Opportunity_Job
                Selection (fields Type, Quantity, Rate and Extension)
    A) Opportunity:Opportunity_Job are 1:1; Opportunity.Job:Selection are 1:Many (Hence a change in OpportunityID changes the focus to another set of Selection table entries associated with the OpportunityID.)
    B) I have setup a Left Outer Join from the Selection table to the Opportunity table via OpportunityID for a Link Type of "=" (I eliminate the Opportunity_Job table for the purposes of the report)
    C) This is a report without any subreports
    D) Details section of CR
    I have a table (Selection) that  has several fields.  The Selection table contains all the entries for a job that deals with labor, material, equipment etc.
    I'd like to subtotal all the entries in the Selection table by Job.
    Here are the fields I have that are of interest:
    Type (Labor, Material, etc.)
    Extension
    For example, data could look like this
    Type     Extension
    Labor     100.00
    Labor     140.00
    Material    50.00
    Material      7.00
    Labor       10.00
    My RT_TotalLabor field should then provide 250.00 and the RT_Material field should provide 57.00
    If have setup a parameter field (@TotalLabor) and a RunningTotals field (RT_TotalLabor)
    The conditional logic for @TotalLabor is "IF trim({Selection.Type})="Labor" then {Selection.Extension} else 0".  I've also tried "IF trim({Selection.Type})="Labor" then SUM({Selection.Extension}) else 0".    The RT_TotalLabor is setup to summarize on @TotalLabor via SUM and to evaluate on Opportunity.OpportunityID and reset on change of field of Opportunity.OpportunityID.
    I'm not getting the proper selection of data.
    How do I select the Labor only for the TotalLabor parameter field and get the correct RT_TotalLabor?  I will also need to have a field, @TotalMaterial, with a RT_TotalMaterial to SUM the materials related to the Job.  Additoinally, these fields will be subtotalled and gross totalled but I should be able to handle that once the totals by Opportunity is done.
    TIA

    Ok...I know what I want to say but I'm not sure I'm saying what I want to say!
    My bad on using the term parameters rather than formula.  ;-(
    Making progess, thanks to you for your help!
    Subreport: (I have only one)
    Here's the @TotalLabor from the Formula Editor: if trim({Table1.TYPE})="Labor" then {Table1.EXTENSION} else 0.
    Same for @TotalMaterial from the Formula Editor: if trim({Table1.TYPE})="Material" then {Table1.EXTENSION} else 0
    Both of these are in the Footer section as I'm still attempting to solve the issue of getting a total of my SET of records for Labor and Material (as well as others once I solve the totalling issues).
    Relating to your comments on the Insert Summary dialog box, I can't figure out how to add a Formula field like @TotalLabor etc so as to make it available to the Insert Summary dialog box.  How do I?
    I have another report, which I didn't write, that utilizes the Insert Summary dialog box in its subreport footer (only one footer) with a {Sum of TotalLabor}(Text Box) and another that has {Sum of TotalMaterial}(number).  I don't understand these!  I can see the respective fields (@TotalLabor) in this subreport's Edit Summary dialog box but I can see the @TotalHours in my Insert Summary dialog box!
    These formulas for the working report are: if {Table1.TYPE} = "Labor" //and {Table1.PRINT} = "T"
    then
        {Table1.EXTENSION}
    else
        0
    and
    if {Table1.TYPE} = "Material" //and {Table1.PRINT} = "T"
    then
    {Table1.EXTENSION}
    else
    0
    So, they are the same.  I just can't get my subtotals to work on a SINGLE row..maybe because I can't see or get them into the Insert Summary dialog box like the subreport that is working on a single row also.
    Maybe another comment: My totals appear to work in a line-by-line (row-by-row) on the report printout but I don't get the subtotals on the SAME line.
    Here's what I see on an output:
    Labor    800.00
    Material 200.00
    (two lines)
    I'd like to see
                    Labor= 800.00     Material= 200.00
    (single line and I've added the text also)  When I try the running totals on the same field (Table1.Extension) I get the SAME value for all my entries even though I've setup a separate running total field and use a conditional check for "Labor", "Material" etc.

  • Repeated Header Row within a Details Section Only of a Group Ignores Tablix Member Properties

    Ok.  I have a situation where I have a details section of a group, and I am trying to get it to repeat the row headers on each page.  It's not working.  I've gone into Advanced Mode, and addressed the static Tablix Member for the left-most
    field of the header row in question, set the properties for the Tablix Member to "RepeatOnNewPage:  True" and "KeepWithGroup: After", and still, it refuses to repeat the row header for these details.  I've tried rebuilding and
    not deleting the column where the grouping was originally assigned (without deleting the grouping, of course), and assigned the properties for "RepeatOnNewPage" to that left-most, grouping field, yet I get the exact same results.  I've looked
    up solutions, and even spoken to the expert of experts, but no joy here.  I'm using VS'10.

    OK.  So it is fixed... sort of...
    Apparently, you must select to add group headers repeated as you create the group (inc. child group), BESIDES changing in Advanced Mode, Tablix Member /Properties / etc.   Then you have to format that extra column within your Tablix to
    make it appear to 'disappear'.  BUT EVEN THEN, there is a new problem:
    The headers will repeat on the additional pages, but only to a point.  For some odd reason, SSRS doesn't consistently render the repeated headers of the group details for
    every page, just where it is a hard (page) break, as opposed to a soft (page) break.  My gut tells me that this has nothing to do with the .xml code, but is an SSRS idiosyncrasy.

  • Multiple repeating SubForms binding to the same data node

    Having multiple repeating SubForms binding to the same data node : In our documents, many times we need to display information from same table in multiple locations. For example, if document displays information of Insureds on one page and information of drivers on another page, we need to create a LiveCycle document with two SubForms. Each SubForm needs to have a repeating binding to CommonInsured element in XSD.  LiveCycle Designer is not able to handle such case. We cannot have two subforms bound to the same node, ONLY in a case where repeating option is selected for data binding.
    The only way I have found out is the following Javascript
    //Get the data node from XML. You will find the code for this function in //JavaHelperFunctions library.
    // InsuredDataRepeatingSubForm is a second subform.
    //You need to manually add instances to this subform at the
    //runtime and Insured data to each instance.
    var insuArray = JavaHelperFunctions.getInsureds();
        var i=0;
        for( i=0; i<insuArray.length; i++)
           if (i>0)
    var thesubform = this.InsuredDataRepeatingSubForm.instanceManager.addInstance(i);
                  thesubform.InsuredName.rawValue = insuArray[i].fullName.value;
           else
                   this.InsuredDataRepeatingSubForm.InsuredName.rawValue = insuArray[i].fullName.value;
    Is there any way I can achieve directly using bindings since we are trying to minimize javascript that changes the layout of the form?
    Thanks in advance!

    Unfortunately not. I've spent countless hours/days trying to do the same thing. You have to use code. The form consumes all the data it can into the repeating elements until there is none left and it is not reused.
    Here's a function I wrote just for that purpose. Feel free to use it:
    function loadData(source,target){
    target.setInstances(source.count);//set the target's subform instances to match the source's
    for (var a=0;a<source.count;a++){//loop through each subform instance
      var sourceSubform=source.resolveNode(source.name.substr(1)).all.item(a);
      var targetSubform=target.resolveNode(target.name.substr(1)).all.item(a);
      for (var b=0;b<sourceSubform.nodes.length;b++){//loop through the children of each
       if (sourceSubform.nodes.item(b).className=="field" && targetSubform.resolveNode(sourceSubform.nodes.item(b).name)!=null)//check for matching fields
        if (typeof(targetSubform.resolveNode(sourceSubform.nodes.item(b).name).value.exData)=="undefined" ||
         typeof(targetSubform.resolveNode(sourceSubform.nodes.item(b).name).value.exData.body)=="undefined")
         targetSubform.resolveNode(sourceSubform.nodes.item(b).name).rawValue=sourceSubform.nodes.item(b).rawValue;
        else
         targetSubform.resolveNode(sourceSubform.nodes.item(b).name).value.exData.loadXML(sourceSubform.nodes.item(b).value.exData.saveXML(),1,1);
       if (sourceSubform.nodes.item(b).className=="instanceManager" && targetSubform.resolveNode(sourceSubform.nodes.item(b).name)!=null)//check for matching subforms
        loadData(sourceSubform.nodes.item(b),targetSubform.resolveNode(sourceSubform.nodes.item(b).name));
    Just make sure the source and target subform hierarchies are identifal, same name and all. It will recurse down the tree and transfer source fields (rich text and plain) to their sister targets.

  • Group By and Detail section should be at same page

    Hi
    I am developing a Crystal Report in Visual Studio 2005. My report have one Group Section and two detail  ( detail a, detail b) sections. In group section I am displaying Test Categories and in Detail Section (detail a) I am displaying Test Result for particular Test Categories, in detail (detail b) section I am conditionally displaying a sub report against a particular testid from detail (a) section.
    I want to display all test results against a test category on the same page. If this fit on the page it should display otherwise category name and all its test should be display on next page.
    Thanks in advance

    Qasim not sure if you have tried this already,
    right click on the group (that blue bar) and click Change Group-->Options->Keep Group together.
    This will keep them together and if it exceeds one page it will start from the new one.
    Hope this helps

  • Multiple Details Sections in the same report

    I'm trying to take two different columns from a fact table, and display them in one column on the report. So I'll then have the charge quantities (grouped and summarized) listed above the charge amounts (grouped and summarized) across months (columns).
    Is there any way to have multiple detail sections in the same report, something like below? I tried sub reporting, but you can't subreport a subreport. I also tried cross tabs, but they're not flexible enough in the groupings I'm looking for.
    Report Header
    Group Heading 1
    Details
    Group Footing 1
    Group Heading 1

  • Dynamic Table -  same data repeating in all rows

    Hi Satya,
          I am creating the PDF form using WebDynpro java application, and the form should be stored in local disk. The user should be able to fill and save the data in the table at any time.
    Note : The table used in PDF form is a dynamic table, an empty row will be added, when ADD button is clicked, the row will be deleted when DELETE button is clicked.
    The javascript code udes are,
    For adding a row,
    xfa.form.PDFDataSource.Subform1.Table1.Row1.instanceManager.addInstance(1);
    For deleting a row,
    Subform1.Table1.Row1.instanceManager.removeInstance(this.parent.index);
    I have done the data binding to the fields of the table. I am able to save the data in local disk.
    The problem is, when I click ADD button, a new row is created but with the same data in previous row. even if I create 10 rows, all have same data. If I try to change any data any where in the table, it reflects in all the rows.
    Can you give me a solution?
    Regards,
    Prabhakar.

    Thanks. Actually yesterday night I could not do the thorough testing so just waiting for your confirmation.
    Actually if you open my PDF in Adobe Life Cycle Designer and check the data binding you will get the answer.
    Special care should be taken in designing the context for table attribute.
    The attribute type singletone also plays a important role. I have this doubt from the beginning when you have reported this problem for the first time but finally you marked it as solved so i thought there might be some other issues but again when you reported that again i did some analysis.
    Now coming to final solution :
    For designing a table in adobe interactive form you have consider following
    You have to design the view context upto three level, I am explaining you the properties
    PDFDataSource (Parent Level1) -  Cardinality 1:1 - Signetone -True - This is assigned to datasource
    TableList (Parent Level2) - Cardinality (1:1) -  Signetone -True
    TableWrapper(Parent Level3) - Cardinality (0:n) -  Signetone -True
    TableData (Parent Level4) - Cardinality (0:1) -  Signetone - false (This is the main point)
    Then under TableData value node, you have to put all your table attributes.
    This Value Node name can be anything but hierarchy should be same as I have mentioned above.
    Please try out these steps and get back to me if you have any doubt.
    Cheers

  • Shared Variable in DETAILS section reports value of previous item.

    I have a report with a subreport in the details section. I have set up a shared variable in the subreport to pass a value to the main report. For some reason, the value of the variable for the first detail line item, shows up in the field for the second, the value for the second shows up in the third and this pattern repeats. How can I get the shared variable to display in the correct record?

    It's because the data in the details line is evaluated/diplayed before the subreport executes.
    Split the details into two sections and place SR in top one and display formula for var in lower one.
    If there is data in the subreoprt you want on same line as the var then in section expert set the upper detail section to underlay.

  • How to combine multiple Details section rows in my report

    Hello,
    I am currently creating a report which will display employee details, which includes first name, last name, home phone, cell phone and Email.
    I get my First Name and Last name from the "Employees" table but all other info is situated in the "CommunicationLinks" table.
    The tricky part which I am having issues with is the Home Phone, Cell Phone and Email are all under the same field in this table, the field is called "DisplayAs".
    These 2 tables are linked together by taking Employees.LinkID and linking it to CommunicationLinks.LinkIDParent, which are matching linkids.
    The only issue that I have, is for example, if you look at the screenshot provided, I have 5 details section that gets populated for the same employee.
    How can I combine all these 5 records to only one?
    The homephone, cellphone and email field have formulas created for them, the formula is as follow.
    This example below is for the HomePhone field, the others have different type assigned to them
    If {CommunicationLinks.Type} =1 then
    {CommunicationLinks.DisplayAs}
    else ""
    Homephone, Cellphone and Email are all different types but uses the same field "DisplayAs".
    I also tried creating a subreport for each of these fields but seems to give me the same results.
    Any help would be really appreciated.
    If you have any other questions please let me know. See attached screenshots for reference.
    Thank you in advanced.
    Jocelyn

    Easier way without working in SQL:
    1.  Group by a field that is unique to the employee.
    2.  Suppress the employee group header and the details sections.
    3.  Create a couple of formulas:
    {@ClearVariables}
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    StringVar HomePhone := "";
    StringVar CellPhone :="";
    StringVar Email := "";
    Put this formula in the employee group header - even though the section is suppressed, it will evaluate.
    {@SetVariables}
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    StringVar HomePhone;
    StringVar CellPhone;
    StringVar Email;
    if {CommunicationLinks.Type} =1 then
      HomePhone := {CommunicationLinks.DisplayAs};
    else if {CommunicationLinks.Type} = <type for cell> then
      CellPhone := {CommunicationLinks.DisplayAs};
    else if {CommunicationLinks.Type} = <type for email> then
      Email := "";
    Put this formula in the details section - it will evaluate even though the section is suppressed.
    {@HomePhone}
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    StringVar HomePhone
    (Do the same for Cell Phone and Email.  Note that there is no semi-colon at the end of this one!)
    Put these formulas and all of the rest of the employee data in one or more Employee group footer sections.
