FM to create DTP

Hi All,
Can any one let me know the SAP standard FM to create a DTP.
Where in I would be able to enter all the required parameters and then the required DTP is created.
I tried this in BW 3.5, there is a BAPI present for this. However, I did not find any such FM in BI 7.0.
Please let me know.

Hi,
The FM: CCMSBI_DTP_CREATE does not exist in BI 7.0. I tried in BIT IDES server.
I had already checked:
RSBK_DTP_CREATE_INTERNAL
RSMMR_BI_DTPA_CREATE_CHANGE but they don't help.
RSBK_DTP_CREATE_INTERNAL would take to a screen for creation of DTP and then it stops. Neither DTP is created nor any further action is asked.
Any thing beyond this?

Hi Satya,
Trying logging off the system and log in again and try to activate Data source Infoobject and transformation again and try creating DTP by selecting Selecting the source system by pressing F4. I hope it should work.
I don't find any specific problem or any patch problem with the error you are getting.

Can't create DTP for cube migrated from business content to 2004s

I am in the process of converting 3.5 Business Content InfoProviders to the new model for 2004s.
Master data was not a problem, but Im having a hard time getting InfoCubes to migrate.
I installed 0PUR_C03 from Business Content and replicated the DataSource into the Data Warehouse.
I right-clicked 2LIS_02_S013, selected Additional Functions, then chose Transformation erzeugen (a.k.a. Create Transformation in English).
The transformation is generated with no errors and it was activated. The DataSource is migrated automatically in the process.
Then, I went to add the Data Transfer Process and that is where I got stuck.
I right-clicked the cube and took Create DTP. For source type, I selected datasource. A dialog box then shows the objects associated with the cube, including the converted infosource, but nothing is highlighted for me to choose from, and I cant complete the process of creating the DTP.
Can anyone tell me where I might have gone wrong?

Unable to create DTP

Creating DTP in Production

Hi,
I am trying to create a DTP in Production but, I am getting the following message.
"Changes to Repository or cross-client Customizing are not permitted"
In prod I have authorisation to Maintain, save and create authorisation. Can some one explian if we are allowed to create DTPs' in production in BI 7.0 or is there any settings need to be done by BASIS.

yes you can.
DTP's are like infopackages.
Here are the steps to make this setting in QA & Prod:
RSA1> Transport Connection > Object Changeability > DTPA --> Everything Changeable

Effect of creating DTP in production

Hello
What are the effects of creating DTP ees in production.

You can create directly in production. But it is not advisable. if anything goes wrong that will distrub your live data targets. It is a risky job. Better than that is creat the DTPs in dev system test it in dev system itself. if it fails no issues as it is the development system.

"Source is not Active" when creating DTP from Datasource (BI. 7.0)

Hello,
I need to load data to ODS from a ZTable. Version 7.0
This is what i have done so far:
- Created a ZTABLE. (OK)
- Loaded data via function modules through excel macros. (OK)
- Created DataSource(ZGDRDS01) from a ZTABLE in RSO2. (I guess OK)
- Create DataTransfer Process - (NOK)
       Source of DTP
         Object Type : DataSource
         DataSource : ZGDRDS01
         Source System: BWD
    - Error Message: Source ZGDRDS01 of BWD(type DTASRC) is not active (like if it didnt exists)
(I didnt find any Activate button in RSO2)
Somebody else did something similar before and created its own DataSource, that one I can use, but i need to create my own.

Did you create Transformation which is a prereq for creating a DTP ?
- No i didnt create the transformation first, but the problem was the same. When I created a Transformation it asks me for the DataSource and back again to "source is not Active".
New problem:
I went to SourceSystem and replicated the datasources,
- Know it appears just below the other one that was previously working.
- However it appears with status Inactive and there is no Activate Button.
- Something went wrong with the version because the column "M = A Version" appears =/=, for my new Datasource. I right click on it -> Replicate Metadata but didnt help. Any other option marks me something lik is not Active or
   "The DataSource ZGDRDS01 (BWD) does not exists in object version A"
if i right clic -> Display
Version = Modified (yellow)
I deleted the datasource and generated it again with the same result.
¿do you know how to fix this?
P.S ¿Should I post a new thread for this problem?

How to Create DTP Filter Variable?

Hi experts!
I noticed that in filter screen of Data Transfer Process it's possible to choose as filter besides a routine a variable too.
But how and where I have to define this variable?

Hi,
If necessary, we determine filter criteria for the delta transfer. To do this, choose Filter.
This means that you can use multiple data transfer processes with disjunctive selection conditions to efficiently transfer small sets of data from a source into one or more targets, instead of transferring large volumes of data. You can specify individual selections, multiple selections, intervals, selections based on variables, or routines. To change the list of InfoObjects that can be selected, choose Change Selection.
The icon next to pushbutton Filter indicates that predefined selections exist for the data transfer process. The quick info text for this icon displays the selections as a character string.

(1) I have created an Data Source(extract structure and extractor) on SYS1. Tested the extractor. It returns data as desired.
(2) Then I replicated this Data Source to SYS2.
(3) In SYS1 I created InfoCube(VirtualProvider based on data transfer process for direct access) .
Till this point I have no issues .
(4) But after that I am not able to "Create Data Transfer Process" for this Virtual Infoprovider . When I try to create DTP the DTP type available for selection is "Scheduled" where as per the documentation I need to create DTP of DTP type "DTP for Direct Access".This DTP type I donot see.
Is it a problem with the BW configuration or some user error.Any suggestions which may help would be realy appreciated.

DTP Vs Update Rules Error!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I have a scenerio , where I need to have data from 2 DSOs in to one combined DSO. Lets Says the 2 DSOs as DSO A and DSO B. and the Third as DSO C.
I want to get DSO C Structure as exactly as DSO A. and DSO B structure is only few fiew fields from DSO A (Key Fields are same). I have loaded the data in to DSO A and DSO B using Transformation and DTP . Now How to load DSO C data I mean combined data of DSO A and B.
1.If I create update Rules to DSO C using DSO A and DSO B. Iam not getting any data in to DSO C. (Do I need to make any settings in DSOs to update the data of A and B in to C ?).
2.If I create 2 transformations between DSO A -C and DSO B-C. I am sure I need to create DTPs to get the corresponding data. When I do that Iam getting 2 separate sets of data for DSO C. But I need data as one set from DSO A & B in to C.
Please help me ASAP and let me know if you need more information on it.

as i told you earlier, if the fields you are looking from DSO B is not available in DSO A, you can create transformation usign respective DSO if your Key fields are same in both DSO A and DSO B..
assume...F1, F2, F3 are key fields in both DSO A and B.
DSO A:
F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7.
DSO B:
F1, F2, F3, F8, F9.
DSO C:
F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, F9.
If you load data from DSO A to DSO C, it will create one record in DSO C with updation of F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7(because f1, f2, f3, f4, f5, f6, f7 only mapped).
If you load data from DSO B to DSO C, it will <b>Update</b> existing entry using Key fields for other 2 fields(which mapped from DSO B to DSO C).
Change log table of DSO C update with 2 records(i'm talking about Standard table).

In BI 7.0 if you load data from Source System it will go to PSA.This is still done by Infopackage.Here Infopackage can't push data beyond PSA .
so loading will be like
Source System>DataSource>Infopackage--->PSA.
Now once the data comes to PSA ,it can be further updated to a Cube a DSO or Infobject using a DTP+Transformation.
Here DTP and Transformation are parallel to each other .Each Transformation will have its dedicated DTP.Now whether your request is init or delta it will matter only while you are loading till PSA,so its only the concern of your Infopackage.DTP will not care much about that .Its main job is to push the request of the PSA to Target or to Push the request from One target to another target.So data flow is like this
PSA>Transformation+DTP->Target->Transformation+DTP>Target1
Now ,the important question is then what is Delta and Full in DTP.If you have setting as Delta in DTP then it will only pull the unloaded request from PSA and ignore the request which have been successfully loaded to the Target.It very important point to be taken care of.For loading between Data Target to Data Target (Data Mart scenario) delta option will bring only those records to Target1 from Target which have not been present there.
If you have full load DTP ,it will pull all the requests from PSA irrrespective of whether they have been loaded or not ,causing you sometimes duplicate records issue etc.
Please let me know if you have any doubts .

Below are the basic steps which we follow in any BI 2004S system:
1)Create datasource. Here u can set/check the Soucre System fields.
2)Create Transformation for that datasource. (no more update rules/transfer rules)
2.1) While creating transformation for DS it will ask you for data target name, so just assign where u want to update ur data.
DataSource -> Transformation -> Data Target
Now if you want to load data into data target from Source System Datasource:
1) Create infopackage for that data source. If you are creating infopackage for new datasources, it will only allow you update upto PSA, all other options u can see as disabled.
2)Now Create DTP (Data Transfer Process) for that data source.
3) NOw schdule the Infopackage, once the data is loaded to PSA, you can execute your DTP which will load data to data target.
If you are loading data from one one data target to other, no need to use PSA, you can directly execute DTP in that case.
Data Source -> Transformation (IP/DTP) -> Data Target1 -> DTP ->Data Target 2

DSO error while creating update rules

i am new to BI 7.0 , while creating update rules for datastore object , i have given the infosource name, and tried to activate it, then i got the error,
ERROR: infoobject 0recordmode is missing from the infosourse

Hi,
Add 0recordmode info object to your info source and again try to create DTP, 0recordmode is requried in DSO to keep data with history.(like before image,after image,etc), by adding this you dont have any problem, at the time of creating info source itself system will prompt you that this info object is missing do you want to add here say yes.

Creating multiple page files from PDF templates

I have a PDF file that is 3 pages. When I create the 3 page template form through Acrobat 8 Forms, and then it is placed in Lifecycle designer, I can save it. All of the fields that I create remain in the file. But, I cannot add another page (PDF template) to this Lifecycle file. I have to go back to the original PDF file, add the page, and then import back into Lifecyle, and add back all of the fields. Can I just save a text file with the correct XML code, and then paste it back in after I add another page. I tried it, but didn't have much success.

Yes it is possible,
All you need to do is create 3 destinations each of type Flat file.
For your data target link to the and Open Destinations1, link by creating a transformation. and while create DTP use filter A.
Again for your data target link to the another Open Destination2, link by creating a transformation and while creating DTP use Filter B.
similarly for Open Destination3, use Filter C.

) Create a data source
RSA1->Source Systems->FILE(File)->PC_FILE(Filesourcesystem)->Create Application Component(optional)-Create Data source
2) Create infoPackage
Right click on the data source and do
3) Create the data provider
4) Create Transformation
Right click on the data provider, choose 'create transformation' and choose your data source (give relevant data source and its type)
Just connect the relavant fields between your data source and data provider.
4) Create DTP
Then Double click on the DTP node created under yous transformations. choose the extraction mode as delta.
5) Load the data: there are 2 ways:
you can run the infopackage and DTP separately or create a process chain consisting of these infopackage and DTP and run.

Right click AC and create datasource
Specify data source name, source system, and data type ( master data attributes, text, hierarchies)
In general tab give short, medium, and long description.
In extraction tab specify file path, header rows to be ignored, data format(csv) and data separator( , )
In proposal tab load example data and verify it.
In field tab you can you can give the technical name of info objects in the template and you not have to map during the transformation the server will automatically map accordingly. If you are not mapping in this field tab you have to manually map during the transformation in Info providers.
Activate data source and read preview data under preview tab.
Create info package by right clicking data source and in schedule tab click star to load data to PSA.( make sure to close the flat file during loading )

In left panel select info provider
Select created info area and right click to select Insert Characteristics as info provider
Select required info object ( Ex : Employee ID)
Under that info object select attributes
Right click on attributes and select create transformation.

Activate created transformation
Create Data transfer process (DTP) by right clicking the master data attributes

Activate created transformation
Create Data transfer process (DTP) by right clicking the master data attributes

In update tab specify error handling ( request green)
Activate DTP and in execute tab click execute button to load data in data targets.
8. Monitor
