HP officejet 6100 eprinter not recognizing networks

I have tried resetting and factory reset on the printer, plugging and unplugging in all possible combinations, updating firmware and .  The printer will work on the MacBook when connected to the Airport Express.  The Ipad Air will not see it at all.  The windows 8.1 lenovo will not see it on the network, but will work with USB.  The printer will not find any SSIDs (there are two available).  The Wireless Network Test shows:
Wireless on PASS
Wireless Working PASS
Signal Quality - Not Run
Network Name (SSID) Found - FAIL
Wireless Networks Detected - 2
IP Address - Not Applicable
Those seem the most important, most other items on the diagnotics read Not Run.
This used to work on the old network fine with a different name fine, but on the new network not at all.
Help, please?
Jay

Hello jjjames,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with connecting the printer to the wireless network.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I then suggest that we run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If the Doctor fails, please let me know of any error codes or messages that may pop up.
Thanks for your time.
Click the “Kudos Thumbs Up" at the bottom of this post to say “Thanks” for helping!
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

To begin troubleshooting, click Begin USB Troubleshooting, below.
Uninstall the HP software, run Microsoft Fix it, disable startup services, and reinstall the software
This solution consists of multiple steps. Make sure you complete each step before continuing to the next one.
    Uninstall the HP software
Even if the HP software installation failed, some components might have partially installed on your computer. Follow these steps to remove them.
Disconnect the USB cable from both your printer and computer (if it is currently connected).
Click here to open the list of currently installed programs.
+ Button didn't work? Click here for instructions.
Point to or tap the upper-right corner of the screen to open the Charms bar, and then click or tap the Search icon.
Type control panel in the Search (Windows 8.1) or Search Apps (Windows 8) box.
Click or tap the Control Panel icon.
    The Control Panel window opens.
Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.

If the uninstaller asks you to remove shared files, click No. Other programs that use these files might not work if you delete the files.
You may be prompted to restart your computer.

Click Next Step below to continue with the next step in the solution.
Uninstall the HP software, run Microsoft Fix it, disable startup services, and reinstall the software Reinstall the HP software
Now that your system is updated, try installing the HP software again.
    Turn your printer on.
If you are using a USB connection, disconnect the USB cable from both your printer and computer (if it is currently connected).
Reinstall the software using the CD that came with the printer, or download and install the latest version of the software for your printer from the HP web site (recommended):
Click here to go to the HP Printer Install Wizard download page.
Follow the directions to download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard.
Follow the onscreen instructions to download the printer software for your version of Windows.
The HP Printer Install Wizard downloads and starts the software installation.
    Note
A full Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 printer software install may not be available for all products. Click here to find out if a Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 download is available for your printer.
Follow the onscreen instructions, making sure to proceed all the way through the installation without canceling or exiting any screen.
    Note
Do not connect the USB cable until you are prompted, or an install error may occur. Also, if your software is still not finding your printer over the USB connection, review the following USB tips.
    + USB tips
Ensure that your USB cable is no more than 5 meters (16.4 feet) in length. (For best results, use a cable that is less than 2 meters (6 feet) in length.)
Try connecting the USB cable to a different USB connector on the computer. (For example, if you plugged the cable into a front USB port, try plugging it into a port in the back.)
If the USB cable is connected to a USB hub or a docking station for a laptop, it could cause the installation to fail. Even if you believe that your USB hub works fine, try connecting the USB cable directly to the computer during the device installation (when prompted). You can always move it back to the USB hub later.
If you need to use a USB hub, use one that is externally powered instead of using a non-powered hub.
When the installation completes, try using your printer.
    Turn your printer on.
If you are using a USB connection, disconnect the USB cable from both your printer and computer (if it is currently connected).
Reinstall the software using the CD that came with the printer, or download and install the latest version of the software for your printer from the HP web site (recommended):
Click here to go to the HP Support & Drivers web page.
Select the option to download drivers and software, and then type the name of your printer in the search box.
For example, type HP Photosmart B211.
Follow the prompts and make selections to display the software and drivers for your printer.
When prompted, select the appropriate version of Windows, to view the driver download and CD ordering options.
    Tip
If you're not sure whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit, click the Is the Windows version on my computer 32-bit or 64-bit? link on the page for help.
If given a choice, select the full feature software and drivers link.
This option may appear in an area labeled Drivers.
When prompted, click Save, and download the software to your desktop or a folder where you can easily find it.
Start the HP software installation by running the install program that you downloaded.
Follow the onscreen instructions, making sure to proceed all the way through the installation without canceling or exiting any screen.
    Note
Some printer models require a USB connection during the install. If you are prompted by the software, connect the USB cable. • HP OfficeJet 6100 EPrinter Installation

I'm trying to install my printer, HP OfficeJet 6100 EPrinter, and I keep getting...."key not valid for use in specified date." I then tried to install a driver from the HP website and received the same message. I've been on this project for the last two days, and I'm really hoping someone will help a tech challenged woman. Hi @Dsgirl
I have done some research specific to this error and have found several possible solutions. I will need to gather more information from you though. What operating system and version do you have, Mac or Windows?
    A few things you can try;
Microsoft Fix it -  What it fixes...
Corrupted registry keys on 64-bit operating systems
Corrupted registry keys that control the update data
Problems that prevent new programs from being installed
Problems that prevent existing programs from being completely uninstalled or updated
Problems that block you from uninstalling a program through the Add or Remove Programs (or Programs and Features) item in Control Panel
Remove the KB2918614 update which related to a security update that impacts MSI (Microsoft Installer) installations. - KB2918614 breaks Windows Installer Service
    ^ You can either restore back to a time before August as this is when the update would have installed, or you can remove it manually through your Control Panel, in the Add and Remove Programs Section. You will need to click on the Show updates option at the top to view all installed updates;
This is not a bug with the HP software. Take a look at the search results I got when I typed the error into Google; key not valid for use in specified date.
Many customers are having problems installing all kinds of software because of this issue.
If my suggestions do not resolve the issue, I recommend contacting Microsoft or reaching out to the Microsoft Community. If however, one of my recommendations to resolve the issue please let me know so we can share the solution with others.

  • Officejet pro 8000 not recognizing brand new HP black ink cartridge

Hi. My officejet pro 8000 is not recognizing a brand new HP brand black ink cartridge. The black ink indicator remains lit and it will not print. I have unplugged the printer, but this did nothing. It is wierd, when I open the door where the cartridges are, the light goes out, it only goes on again when I close that door. The printer was working perfectly until this . Any helpful hints? Thanks so much.

    Hello chx2,

Next, please follow these steps in order:
    1) Remove all ink cartridges from the printer, then close the door
    2) Remove the power cord from the printer (Do not press the power button)
    3) Please clean the ink cartridges by following this HP document here. (Also, make sure you have completed all the steps from this document)
    4) Wait 60 seconds or more, then plug the power cord back in
    5) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges
    6) Try to print a document

  • HP Officejet 6100 ePrinter changed its IP address

My HP Officejet 6100 ePrinter changed its IP address from 192.168.1.9 to 192.168.1.8.
We cannot print from any computer now. How can I change the printer's IP address back?
    Thanks,
    Steve

Do you have it set for a static IP or DHCP in the router?  Normal for IP's to change with no activity as it reconnects to the router and gets a new IP.   Suggest you set a static IP in the printer outside the DHCP range of the router.

  • Can Officejet 6100 wireless print without network?

We just purchased a Officejet 6100 to use in a vehicle for commercial vehicle enforcement. We would like to use it to print wirelessly directly from a laptop without a network or cable. Is this possible with this printer? If not do you have a suggestion before I rip it out of the box? Our hopes it that it would connect with the laptop wirelessly and give the ability to print.

It appears from the manual that this is not a wireless printer.

I just fixed my J4680 printer a couple of minutes ago (see my post).
    Step 1: Unplug your printer
Step 2: Uninstall the program J4680 and ALL associated HP programs (IRIS, Websmart, etc.). There is a screen to select ALL programs.
Step 3: Reboot your PC to complete the uninstallation
Step 4: Plug in your printer
Step 5: Download the FULL j4680 package from HP's support website:
Step 6: Run the Installation. The first screen will ask if you want a Wireless connection so click on that. It connected my printer automatically.
That's it. My printer is printing and scanning great.

  • Airport not recognizing network signal

I often go to a friend's house and take my computer with me. recently my computer is not recognizing the network signal from the router. I can connect to to the internet with an ethernet cable, but there is no WiFi signal. The router IS sending WiFi signal but it does not show on Airport at all.
I have tried reseting the router and everything but no luck.
    Any ideas????
    Thank you.

Your problem is common under Snow. I give some solutions that have worked for others below. Consider carefully which you want to try, if any. These solutions worked at the users main locations. If you use them and then have problems at "home," then no joy.
Adding a new location has worked for some.
Go System Preferences > Network > Location.
Edit location (whatever name you want).
Click + and then click done.
    Try your browser.
And, here is another possibility that has worked for others (basically suggested by Carolyn).
Go Finder > Your HD > Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration.
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to your Desktop.
    Restart.
    Try your browser.
Try something a little different on the above theme.
Go Finder > Your HD > Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration.
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to your Desktop.
Go System Preferences > Network > Delete all locations, and use Automatic.
    Restart.
    Try your browser.
You may have to reconnect to your wireless network if applicable. And, you may need to go System Preferences > Sharing and re-enter your computer's name. Check what name is given in sharing before following my instructions. If problems develop, then your can move the original folder back where it started—overwriting any folder recreated.
    Work with Keychain
Start Keychain Access. Delete any entries related to wireless networking/connecting to the internet.

  • Why is my Officejet 8500 909a not recognized by eprint?

Trying to use eprint on ipad, but it doesn't find my networked Officejet 8500 909a printer. This printer IS on the approved list, why isn't it being recognized?

    Hi videoguy741,
Which method of using ePrint on your iPad for your Officejet 8500 are you trying to use:
Trying to print from the HP ePrint Service app?
Trying to print from the HP ePrint Home and Biz app?
Trying to email the printer using the ePrint service?
Clarifying will help specify the solution. However, the first option is not the most efficient and the third option is not possible on this particular printer. The second option, the HP ePrint Home and Biz app, would be the best option to print to your Officejet 8500 A909a printer from your iPad, over your local wireless network.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!

  • HP Officejet Pro L7580 not recognized and unable to install

    Hello everyone,
We purchased a MacBook Pro and for sometime we had it connected to our HP Officejet Pro L7580 using its usb connection.  This MacBook Pro is running Mountain Lion software with the current printer update.  We moved and relocated our printer to a more suitable room.  In our house we have two routers.  Our main router is Actiontec MI424-WR and the secondary router is  Dlink DIR 655.  The Dlink is connected lan-to-lan with Actiontec. The printer is connected to Dlink router which is downstairs.  I have spent considerable amount of time figuring out why our MacBook Pro doesn't recognize this printer.  We have other computers at home that runs in unix (Ubuntu) and windows (Windows 7) and those computers are able to print, scan, and fax to this computer without problems.  The connections to all computers are the same which is wireless.  I have read a lot post in this community and as well as HP community and it doesn't provide any solution to this problem.  I am able to ping this printer from the MacBook with no problem.  When I install this printer using ip method the scan option is not there.  However if I bring the computer downstairs and install it using usb the scan option appears.  I am thinking that HP didn't provide a driver for scan option if you're connected wireless or ethernet.  But I found out that the current drivers for mountain lion for this particular printer has a scan capability.  I need some help in figuring out what's going on with this.  I would like to be able to scan using this laptop where I don't have to physically connect it to the scanner.  I am completely lost with Mac.

  • AirPort not recognizing network

I have a wireless network set up in my house (A PC and Linksys router - WRT54GS. The PC is connected directly to the router using an Ethernet cable. I installed the Linksys router for my Mac) I purchased an Airport card for my G5 and AirPort is installed and recognized by my Mac. My network in the house is up and running. But when using my Network settings to try to connect, I'm unable to--it's simply not picking up the network. In the Internet Connect box I've chosen AirPort, and (because the network does not appear in the drop down menu), chosen "other," typed in the network name, security type, and password. I receive the following notice: "There was an error joing the Airport network." Any thoughts on what to do? (I'm new to wireless networks. Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious.)

Which G5 do you have? The early G5s shipped with an external AirPort antenna which is required.
See "PowerMac G5 wireless problem? Check this..."

I have a 16 GB iPhone. (Purchased 12/2008) Over the last month or so I've been having problems with my Wi-Fi. I recently moved out of my parent's house so I bought my own router. Against my better judgement, I purchased the Apple Airport Extreme - WAY overpriced and offers nothing more than a Netgear or Linksys would. Well, my MacBook Pro, my boyfriend's iBook G4, as well as his iPhone, all recognize my network. However, my iPhone only recognizes it about once a week and it only lasts for a few minutes. It sounds like a similar problem that many others have had based on other forums posts BUT the catch is... the iPhone is picking up my downstairs neighbor's network just fine! (Except its password protected and I cant use it lol) Note: Although it recognizes my downstairs neighbor's network, my laptop recognizes 4 within range when sitting directly next to the iphone.
It should also be noted that even when I manually type in my network name and password on the iPhone, it still says it can't find the network.
    Any suggestions?!? THANK YOU!!

It usually means that you are not connected to WiFi like you think you are. Tap Settings > WiFi and you should see the name of the network you are connected to with a check mark next to it. If you do see that, then tap the blue > next to your network name and look at the IP addresses listed. If yours starts with 169.x then you are not connected completely to your network.
As far as Facebook goes, is your brother using your iPod or his own?

  • Hp officejet scanner is not recognized after upgrading to snow leopard

I tried calling HP twice and was disconnected both time before speaking to someone. The printer works, just the scanner will not work no matter what I do. Any ideas?

Thanks, but I have fixed it. It is an HP officejet 5610 all in one. I finally found the answer after much searching. The fix was to unplug the printer (power). Turn the computer off for 30 seconds. Reconnect the printer and then turn the computer back on (in that order). Bingo it worked!
    My best,

  • HP Officejet 8600 is not recognized by Acrobat 9.5.5 when trying to scan

When trying to create a PDF document via Acrobat (file/create PDF), Adobe does not recognize my new HP Officejet 8600 print/scan/fax/etc.  Any solutions?

Make sure you have the latest and greatest TWAIN driver from HP.
If that does not work output TIFF files from the scanner then use Acrobat to create PDF from the TIFF.
    Be well...

  • Officejet 6500 scanner not recognized after driver upgrade with Mac OS Lion

I have an Officejet 6500 E709n. Using Mac OS Lion 10.7.5 all software is updated.
I was having printing issues so I "reset printing system" thru Mac System Preferences and uninstalled my print drivers that originally came with the printer from HP. I am using the drivers updated by Mac OS Lion.  The printing problem was solved! Sadly, I now have no scanning capability. I have followed many suggestions on scanning that I've found here on the forum, but my system no longer recognizes my printer as a scanner. The scan option is not even visible under the "print and scan" window in system pref. (I used to be able to click "print" or "scan" buttons on the printer window but even now there are no buttons giving those options).
Thanks for your help and time!

    Hi,
As I understand from your email that you are unable to scan from the MAC OS X System, this is due to the software issue, so we need to uninstall and reinstall the completed software,
Please follow the steps below and let us know how it was.
Step 1:- Run the Scrubber to uninstall the previously installed HP printer drivers
     • Double click on the Macintosh Icon.
     • Click on Application and then on Hewlett-Packard.
     • Click on HP Uninstaller.
     • Select the device and press and hold Control + Options + Command (Apple) keys on the keyboard.
     • Click on Uninstall.
     • You will get a popup window “Are you sure you want to uninstall all HP Software packages”.
     • Click on OK to continue.
Note: It will remove the software for all HP printers. If you have any other HP printer installed, you may have to reload the software and set up the printer again.
During the process of uninstall, it might prompt you to enter the password of your computer to continue with the uninstall process. Please enter the password and click on Continue.
Step 2: Download and install the latest software.

    Step 3: Add a Printer
    1. Click the Apple menu icon, and then click System Preferences on the drop-down menu.
    2. Click Printers & Scanners to open the printer’s folder.
    3. Click the plus sign (+).
    4. Select the product and from the print using option, from the drop down menu select the printer and not Airprinter, and then click the Add button.
    5. Follow onscreen instructions if any.
    6. After a few seconds, the product displays in the Printers list.
Step 4. Try Scanning through HP Scan Application.
Click on the Go Button on the top.
    Click on Applications.
    Click on HP Scan.
    Try Scanning and check.
Also check from Print and Scan.
    Let us know the results.
