If I upgrade an app? Say Angry Birds, what happens to my saved data?

App store is telling me there's an upgrade available to my paid version of angry birds, new levels etc included. Question though: if I upgrade, will I lose my progress? Having dedicated far too much of my life to this game already, I'm not sure I want to take the risk!!!

You will not lose any of your data upgrading the app.

Can you install them on what? Those are both iOS apps (meaning they can be installed on iPods, iPhones and iPads), but iOS apps cannot be run on either a Mac or a PC. I believe that there is a Mac version of Angry Birds as well, which is completely separate from the iOS version of Angry Birds.

When the iPod is used heavily like for games it is norma for the iPod to get warm. Unless you hav short battery life I would not be concerned.

I would suggest restarting the iPad and see if the download resumes.

App of angry birds locked up

i have had my ipad 2 less than a week. my kids and i play angry birds. now the app is locked up. everything else works fine. when i go into angry birds, it is just frozen. nothing works! it won't slide or pause or go to the game menu. there is sound and the pic is frozen in the middle of a game. i hate to uninstall after all we have done. any ideas??

Try fully quitting the app first. Switch to another app. Double tap the home button to bring up the App Switcher. Press and hold one of the Apps to start the "shivering" and get the "-" sign. Press the "-" on Angry Birds to quit it and then press the Home button again. Then reopen Angry Birds, this may resolve it for you.
If push comes to shove, you may have to reinstall it. But you shouldn't loose the prefs, they are held elsewhere and when you reinstall, you should have the same progress in the game.

There is now only a grey screen that simply displays "iPhone" and then leads me to Location services to either enable or disable or to choosing a WiFi network. Sounds like you restored your phone as new. If you follow all the steps, there a section that allows you to restore from a backup either through icloud or itunes.
You do have a backup of your phone right? If you don't then all is gone, but you can sync back your apps and music.

I used my icloud to restore everything on my new iphone 5s, but it only shows some of the photos and when I click on those that are showing it says "Loading". What happened to my photos? How can I restore them on my new iphone?

I upgraded from a 4s to a 5s. I backed up my icloud and in the Apple store they helped me transfer. I didn't wait in the store for all my information to download and when I got home later that night the apps all downloaded and were good. I didn't check the photos and videos though. I think I may have stopped the icloud retoration and maybe that is why not all my photos are on my new iphone. Now in the camera roll it shows slots for photos, but they are not there. When I tap on the photo, it just shows "Loading" and is working, but the photo doesn't appear. Any assistance would be helpful

Upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard, what happens with iTunes and iPhoto?

OKay, I picked up a Mac Boxed Set this weekend and I want to do the upgrade, with a clean install. Since I have never done this before, I don't know how it works. I plan to make a bootable backup onto a USB drive using Carbon Copy Cloner, and then transfer those settings back to my iMac once Snow Leopard is installed, but will that include all of my iTunes and iPhoto content? If anyone can let me know how that works I would appreciate it! THanks!

iTunes is updated to the version on the Snow Leopard installer disc. Nothing happens to iPhoto as it's part of iLife, not OS X.
If you erase the target drive then install Snow Leopard, you can use Migration Assistant to migrate your Home folder, third-party applications and support files, and network settings from your bootable backup.

Upgrading from Aperture 2-3. What happens to referenced images?

I'm upgrading from Aperture 2 to 3. I have referenced images on some external hard drives. Will my referenced images be okay and still read correctly from my HD if I upgrade?

I had no problems it retained the Referenced File location info you will have to ensure the externals connected.
If they are not linked as indicated by a red line through the referenced file icon bottom RH corner
Select the images that need reconnecting and then go to File / Locate Referenced Files
You will get a dialogue box which enables you to find the Referenced File/s then click Reconnect or Reconnect All
I just had to do it because I renamed an external drive

Erasing Content and Settings -- What happens to the saved apps in itunes?

I've been thinking about avoiding to do a HUGE backup with my ipod touch 2nd gen 32GB to install iOS4 by erasing all the content and settings of my existing ipod. By HUGE, I mean, leaving your ipod to backup for 6 hours and it's less than 25% done. I tried a few times and gave up each time because it was taking ridiciously long. Anyways, not the issue I'm asking.
I was wondering if I erase all the content and settings from the ipod itself through Settings > General > Reset (or something like that), can I retrieve the applications saved on my computer?
Can i also retrieve my apps if I were to restore my ipod from itunes and set it as a new ipod?
I see my apps from itunes and I'm hoping they have the data saved from my last sync, but I'm worried if I start over with a 'new' ipod, they won't transfer over for whatever reason.
(...though judging by all the forum posts on how iOS4 is pure evil, waiting doesn't seem so bad..)

Is there a way to transfer app store updates to another account without losing saved data?

I am using xcode at my company and unfortunately it was installed using a personal account (this person no longer works here). I need to update xcode but I can't lose all the connected devices and archives stored. Is there a way to update xcode using a new company account? I've searched online and all I could find was to fully uninstall it and reinstall it but that would imply losing all the data, I'm looking for a way to keep the data. Any help is greatly appreciated

In iTunes, you need to pay attention to mark/unmark the fields properly to everything runs well.
Syncing your device with iTunes, open your device. In the Resume Tab, if you have marked "Just sync Music and Videos selected" and/or have unmarked "Manage Music and Videos manually", they mean you need manage which music/videos you want in your device.
Go to Videos Tab, check if the video is there, but probably it is unmarked or something like this. Mark the blanked field and sync with your device again to see what happen.
If sitll not working out, check how iTunes Match works. You maybe need to have an account in iTunes Match to share the video with other devices you have.

ok here is the question, I know that if I sync apps to another pc they will going to erase and reinstall the apps from purchased apps section but what happens to the saved data or games.. as an example; I have Hay Day game.. the game is at a certain level right now and I want to keep it that way.. once I sync it, it will be erased and reinstalled.. will it save my game progress? or how can I save it?

I have 2 iPads, 2 Apple IDs, and have purchased a number of apps 2 times including Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, etc. Apparently I have mixed and matched Apple IDs such that I cannot in-app purchase on either copy due to wrong ID....?

So the question is how do I disaggregate these such that iPad 1 has all of, and only, the apps associated with its Apple ID and iPad2 has all of, and only, the apps associated with its Apple ID? I am happy to restore but not sure that would fix the problem - this seems like it would be an Apple ID issue.

Let me also note that if the response is that I need to buy e.g. Angry Birds what would be a 4th and 5th time I can promise Apple will receive no more money from me.
