Impact of reversing a GR

Hi,
What could be a possible impact in the FI-MM books if we reverse a GR in 2010 that was posted in 2009?
We have a situation where the PO got created in the wrong currency to which GR is already posted in 2009. Now when we have a invoice in the correct currency what could be the best possible solution to deal with it? We are now in 2010 and we cannot open closed periods.
Thanks,
DP

Hi,
This is the normal thing happens during a course of time.PO will be made GR in one year and invoice posting in another year.
in your case if the PO is not posted with invoice but only with GR, the stock would have been come in the books of records of Physical inventory.
in the case of if PO is posted with invoice and is cleared , means the po is suposed to be closed.
as your po is wrogly created with incorrect currency , unless the GR is reversed you can not change the PO.
Normally while creating po system will allow to create the po in the plant ( cc) currency or with the vendor currency. if the cc currency is differrant with vendor cureency system asks for a exchange rate conversion .
Please check the currecncy in the po whather is with plant currecncy or with vendor currency.
But also you can however post the miro with the po document currency or with the currency of vendor with a exchange rate.

  • Accrual Documents Reversal

Could you please advise if accrual docs are reversed with F.81 wrongly.
Can the same be re-set to the original state i.e. doc before reversal having properties of accrual docs.
    Regards,
    Ajay

Do you mean to say that first I should use T-Code FBRA for re-setting the document without reversing the same.
Later on I should use FBR2 for posting nullifying the impact of reverse document and later on clear the same.

  • 2 year old Service entry reversal

    Hi,
We have a scenario where the invoice receipt & related service entry have to be reversed. But this service entry is of the year 2008. The invoice is already posted & the payment is made for this.
So what would be the impact of reversing these 2008 documents in 2010.
Please suggest how to handle this.
    Regards,
    Vijay

Why do you want to reverse a document which is already paid for. Its only possible to reverse it when FI reverses his payment process and then you can do your reversal, otherwise its not possible with FI payment reversal.

    hi,
then clean up the tables and keep the cleaned information in archive.
From my little experience in systems implementation, support and administration, one phenomenon that has contradicting meaning depending on the context in which it is used is archiving or data archiving. Often times, IT professionals tend to confuse the term with concepts such as data reorganization, fragmentation, document imaging, backup and restore among others. Even in the SAP world, some technical professionals takes data archiving to be synonymous with terminologies such as SAP Archive Link and DART.
While I do not intend to do a compare and contrast these phenomenons in this post, I think it is expedient to clearly define what data archiving is in the context of SAP. I will also give an overview of how data is archived and the benefits of data archiving in SAP.
    What is Data Archiving?
Data Archiving is a decongestion process used to delete large volume of data that is no longer needed from a database and storing same outside the database in a format that allows for data retrieval and analysis when need be. The emphasis here are on u201Cdeletingu201D and u201Cstoringu201D. It is common knowledge that if a database is left to grow unmaintained, there is a possibility of having performance bottlenecks and high database maintenance cost. Hence, one of the ways to maintain the database is to delete records that can be termed obsolete. The word u201Cobsoleteu201D is relative. For the archiving process to be complete, data has to be stored using a defined method.
    How is data archived?
The data archiving run follows a sequence of steps. A brief overview is provided below.
    1. Creation of the archive file: During an archive run, the write program first creates archive files which initiates the reading process (from the database) and the consequent writing process (to the archive file)
    2. Storage of the archive file: After successful run of step 1, the created archive files are stored. A number of methods can be leveraged to store an archive file. Archived files can be stored hierarchically, optically or manually. It is important to state that SAP does not recommend the manual storage of archive file. This is as a result of some standardization issues
    3. Deletion of data: This step terminates the archive run. Before data is deleted from the database, the program first read the content of the archive file. It is after this task, that the program deletes the corresponding entry from the database.
    Benefits of Data Archiving
    1. Reduced Backup and Restore time
    2. Reduced access time for tables
    3. Reduced database administration cost
    4. Reduced downtime for system upgrade
    5. Reusability of data

  • In the OOTB comments component of CQ5.4, the comments are getting posted after some delay.

We are currently working on CQ 5.4 and have configured two publish instances with one author. We are also using IIS 7.5 as a dispatcher and load balancer (as there are 2 publish instances). We are using the OOTB comments component. Whenever we are posting a comment in publish, sometimes, the comment is not appearing immediately, we have to refresh the page and then the comment appears(after some delay). This creates the impression that the comment is not posted and hence causes confusion. Is it because we are using 2 publish instances that is causing this delay? Please let us know how can the comments appear immediately without any delay and without explicitly refreshing the page?

The issue most likely is that you are using two publish servers. Assuming you have the workflows set up for no moderation and immediate availability of the comment then most likely what you are seeing is the impact of reverse replication. When a comment is posted it is stored on one of the publish servers, and then is replicated back to the author server using reverse replication. On the author server a workflow kicks off and the comment is then activated to the publish servers, and dispatcher cache is flushed. Its been a while since I used 5.4 so I am not sure if the comment AJAX is dispatcher cached or not. If the comment AJAX isn't being dispatcher cached then you could set up sticky sessions on your load balancer that is in front of your publish servers and you would probably end up seeing the post immediately. Sticky sessions might not work however if the comment code is checking status - it might actually be waiting for the comment to be replicated back out by the author server - I am not 100% sure. But it should be easy to try the sticky sessions option.
Most of solutions would involve a customization of the comment functionality. I have a client where we overrode the comment posting actions and then had the JavaScript dynamically add the comment data into the DOM rather than refreshing the page/comment list. This gave the appearance of the comment being immeditely available.

  • Carry out period-end closing for material .... in the previous period

    Dear Experts,
Currently we are performing Month-end Closing for period May 2011.
We got any error messages during Actual Costing Closing in Material Ledger.
Based on our investigation, system encounters that any materials has not been carried out Period Closing in the previous period.
In accordance with SAP Note 361236, we should perform this workaround starting from Single-level Price Determination until Reversing Closing Entries.
Assuming that this is the right SAP Note to resolve this issue, kindly advice the following items as follow:
u2022     Should we perform this workaround using the Latest Costing Run that is May 2011, since the period of April 2011 is CLOSED (OB52 and OKP1) ?
u2022     Should we perform the full steps in this workaround  ( from Single-level Price Determination until Reversing Closing Entries ) with u2018MUST_xxxxxu2019 execution  firstly and subsequently re-run this steps without u2018MUST_xxxxxu2019 execution ?
u2022     What is the impact of Reversing Closing Entries in our Financial Statement in period of April and May 2011?
u2022     Is there any other SAP Note for fixing the problem?
    Thanks for your kind attention.
    Regards,
    (Vincent)

    Hi Vincent,
You have not mentioned whether the issue is for few materials/plants or all materials/plants.
Find my reply to your queries:
u2022 Should we perform this workaround using the Latest Costing Run that is May 2011, since the period of April 2011 is CLOSED (OB52 and OKP1) ?
You will not be able to run ACR (for the materials/plants) only May 2011 without closing the status for April 2011.
u2022 Should we perform the full steps in this workaround ( from Single-level Price Determination until Reversing Closing Entries ) with u2018MUST_xxxxxu2019 execution firstly and subsequently re-run this steps without u2018MUST_xxxxxu2019 execution ?
If you want to run Actual Costing Run (ACR) for latest previous month (May 2011) and do not want to run ACR for previous months (Apr, Mar, etc.), you still need to close the status of materials by using must close.
1st you reverse ACR for May 2011. Then use must close for April month. Perform the full steps of ACR for May 2011.
You may encouter a issue (quantities and values are inconsisitant) for the materials which are having price varinances, etc. in Mar/Apr months. To resolve this issue you can follow with SAP support partner (service.sap.com).
u2022 What is the impact of Reversing Closing Entries in our Financial Statement in period of April and May 2011?
The imact of reversing entries in April and May is depend on the Single/Multi level price variances of Materials bcz after the reversal of closing entries you need to run the full steps of ACR. If your client is not interested to take impact in April, the better way is use must close for April and re-run ACR for May 2011.
u2022 Is there any other SAP Note for fixing the problem?
We also had similar issues but it was for few materials. We have used the above option. Had a issue (quantities and values are inconsisitant). Raised OSS message and resolved the issue.
Hope the above details may help you to resolve your issue.

  • Cancellation for 201 movement type

    Hi,
We cosumed material for cost center with 201 movement type on 25.12.2009. Now we must send back to our vendor. But there is no stock in storage location. aA far as I know in this case there are two choıces:
One of them is making cancelletion for material document. But the document date and posting date are not possible periods. Can we do cancellation for current date? Is it wrong for CO? Or what is the effect for CO?
Second of them is making goods receips for 711 movement type.
Which of them are more sutible for CO / this case? or what we can do? Are there another solutions in this case?
    Thanks.

    hi
    >One of them is making cancelletion for material document. But the document date and posting date are not possible periods. >can we do cancellation for current date? Is it wrong for CO? Or what is the effect for CO?
in this case u can have two options
open the previous period with MMPI and do the cancellation (search on net for MMPI),but in this case u have to discuss with ur CO and FI guys for the impact of reversal in past period
also if the closings havebeen carried out there will be the balance of this stock
another option is that use movement type 202 directly u will get back stock in current period

  • Impact of invoice reversal to accounting

    good day experts!!
what impact does invoice cancellation/correction have on accounting department wen they hav already cleared the invoice?
can the invoice repeatedly be paid to contractors becauase of invoice reversal? these is in terms wen trying to correct the invoice e.g the wrong contractor was invoiced, or wrong items where charged. This means i have to reverse the whole invoice then post it again. The reversed invoice has already been charged by accounting.
    help

    Hello,
The Account Document of am Invoice after posting to Accounts has two status - Open & Cleared.
    Now in your case:
    1. If the Accounting Document is still open - Just reverse the Invoice & system will post another Accounting Document which will reverse (cancel) the Accounting Entry caused by the Original Invoice.
    2. If the Accounting Dcoument is cleared against Incoming Payment - Ask the FI person (end-user) to reset the documents & mark the Accounting as Open. Once the Accounting Document is open, you can cancel the Invoice & the effect as in the point No.1 above is generated.
    Hope this clarifies,
    Thanks,

  • When billing doc is reversed what the impact in FI

    Dear SAP Experts,
I want to know the impact in FI when the below scenario are covered.
    1. When PGI is reversed
    2. When billing doc is reversed (Accounting Doc not Cleared)
    3. When billing doc is reversed (Accouring Doc is cleared)
    Regards.

    Dear:
                 Please follow
1...When PGI is reversed Cost of goods sold is credited and Finished goods are debited since the stock it received back into storage location i-e
    Finished Goods Dr
                      COGS                    CR
2....When billing document is reversed the customer gets credited and all duties along with sales and duties are debited i-e
    Sales Dr
    Tax Payable Dr
Customer            Cr( because his o/s balance is reduced to the extent of reversal)
3.... When billing document that is already cleared is reversed then many things get open

  • Impact on changing a reversal movement type.

    Dear Gurus,
I want to know, would there be any impact if the reversal of a movement type to be changed where the current setting is pointing to a wrong reversal movement type? Is there any prerequisites to be met before changing and transporting it to production?

    Hi,
If you want to create reversal /cancel movements always copy from standard movement types and create. The impact will be there according to the settings made to the new movement type for example account grouping etc. Thanking you.

  • Impact of Statistical document reversal once it is cleared

    HI,
I have scenario where lots of documents are posted in this manner.
1.Statistical entry is posted (Sub transaction- statistical -0020) ; then
2.Same has been cleared against payment and statistical entry gets real (Sub transaction - real  - 0021);then
    3. Clearing has been reset ; then
    4. Statistical entry has been reversed
Now system is unable to find credit line items which once cleared against statistical line item. This issue is causing mismatch between debtors and G/L line items.
    How to find such entries?
    Regards,
    Paresh

    Hi,
In your point number (6), please explain what you meam by "0021" - Real Posting.
Also, did you note the FI-CA document number when you made the Security Deposit request? If so, display it in FPE3 and see if there is a Clearing document associated with it.
Normally when the deposit is paid, the clearing document creates a document with Main 0020 and Sub 0010, with clearing resriction of "2".
Check the setting in Posting Area 1010 (via transaction FQC0) to ensure that for Statistical Key H, for Main/Sub 0020/0020, the offset Main/Subis  0020/0010, with Clearing Restriction "2".
Also, check your serttings for Main/Sub 0020/0020 in table V_TFKITVOR. Check the Statistical setting indicator to see if it properly set for Cash Security Deposit Requests.

    Ivor M.

  • Credit memo link with Goods reversal

    Hi,
Does anyone know of any process or method either in R/3 or in SRM that can be used to link Goods reversal with automatic credit memo creation for a PO ( when invoice is already posted ). We have SRM 4.0 and not using GRBasedIV status checked for most of the POs.
Can a customized movement type or workflow achieve this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Viv

Again I can tell you that the process what you were following (reversing the goods receipt) is totally wrong and it will have a serious negative impact on inventory.  Either you should not create a return delivery or take the stocks into parent plant.  If you dont want to show in inventory, then scrap it which is a standard process.
Coming to the requirement, there is no standard way to achieve this.  Check these threads where the same topic was discussed
[Re: How to set up in SAP to have automatic billing after PGI |Re: How to set up in SAP to have automatic billing after PGI]
    [automatic billing|automatic billing]
You have to apply the same logic for credit note also.
    thanks

  • Delta with reversal into cube from LO extractors

    Hi SDN,
In our LO extraction design we have write-optimized DSO used as EDW as the first layer in BI. Then data is sent to Business Content infocubes, such as 0PUR_C01 though we are using their copies and instead of Update Rules/Transfer Rules, we are using PSA, Transformation, Write Optimized DSO, another transformation and onto the cube. DS and all other objects in the data flow are BI 7.
What we are not clear about is the role or ROCANCEL when passed to both STORNO and RECORDMODE and its impact on the cube after the write-optimized DSO. Some key figures are reversed for 'R' but others are not.
We had thought that 2LIS_02_ITM via a Write Optimized DSO will pass on STORNO and RECORDMODE to the cube which should have reversed all key figures in the cube if the value is 'R'. But it is not happening. Whatever key figures were reversed in the source system, they remained reversed, others are still there and adding another row in the cube with some positive values.
Can anyone shed light on this or provide reference to documentation regarding delta processing in the cube, especially from LO extractors like 2LIS_02_ITM, etc.?
    Thanks
    SM

    Friends,
    Thanks for the reply.
    My question is more fundamental.
In 3.5 There was expected to be no DSO between Source system and the cube. How were the Update, add and delete handled then?
As I see it, write-optimized DSO is no hindrance because essentially the data is coming into the cube as if there was no DSO in the middle. I do not see SAP suggesting a DSO anywhere between the source and business content cubes, especially in our case dealting with 2LIS_02_ITM, SCL, etc. to handle delta.
Are you saying that no delta management is possible without inserting a DSO before the cube? Please realize that WO DSO only brings data request by request without any summation and overwrite confusion.
What I puzzled at is the lack of comprehensive unfied and detail information either in documentation or a blog.
    Please advise.
    SM

  • What is the impact of destroying and re-creating from scratch the Open Directory Master?

In order to try and solve some nasty issues hat I have since upgrading to OS X Server 3,0 I am considering completely destroying my OD Master and re-creating the users and groups from scratch. Before doing so (of course I will have multiple backups) I would like to understand:
    1.   When re-creating the users and groups is it sufficient to use the same ‘Unix’ groupid and userid numbers or do I also need to use the original GeneratedUIDs (is that even possible)? Are there any other aspects of the users/groups that I need to be sure to preserve?
    2.   Will there be any impact to services and their data from doing this? Specifically, I have users with data in Mail, Calendar, Contacts and the WiKi. Will they still be able to access their data after the OD destroy/re-create or is that data somehow tied to more than just the username (e.g. does it use the user/group UUID or indeed any other UUID from OD)?
    3.   Will there be any impact to OS X clients bound to the OD? Should I unbind them before destroying and re-bind them afterwards? Will there be any negative impact on the network users who log in via these systems (they all have ‘mobile’ accounts which do *not* sync to the server - all their data is local to the client)?
Thanks in advance for any advice especially from anyone who has gone through this process.
    Chris

    Hi Rob,
I have solevd my issue and I did not need to destroy / re-create the Open Directory. See my post here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5785838 for all the gory details. The long and the short of it was that my problems all came from a point in the past when I changed the hostname of my server after I had created the Open Directory master. Seems like that is a very bad idea! Based on what I found it seems liek any small flaw in DNS forward and reverse name resolution can also cause similar issues. I don't knwo if either of thsoe may apply to your situation?
As part of troubleshooting my issue I actually created a 'replica' of my server setup on another machine includingthe OD and associated users and groups. What I found was that many services (certainly mail, calendar and contacts) depend completely on the OD users and groups UUIDS. So if you wish to preserve user's data across an OD destroy and re-create it is vital that you carefully note for each group its Unix GID and its OD UUID and for each user their Unix uid, primary group id and UUID. When you are re-creating your OD master, as you create each group, use Directory editor to change its UUID to the original value. Similarly for Users. If you don't then users will no longer have access to any existign Mail, Contacts or Calendar data afterwards!
    HTH,
    Chris
