Limitation of memory

Dear all,
I am working on a virtual machine with 58GB ram, in Microsoft Azure. In my program, I have an Byte array which the dimensions are : [10126,24738,24]. When I want to run the program, the memory exception occurs , but when I calculate the ram is enough for
this array size. Is there any limitation from the visual studio for the array size? If yes can I solve it?
Thanks in Advance

Indeed.  But it doesn't help in this particular case, as arrays are still indexed by signed 32bit integers.
eg
if you turn on support for very large objects
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<configuration>
<runtime>
<gcAllowVeryLargeObjects enabled="true"/>
</runtime>
<startup>
<supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.5" />
</startup>
</configuration>
You can have an array whose total size is larger than 2GB, but you can't have an array with more than UInt32.MaxValue items in it.  eg
var EightGBArrayOfULong = new UInt64[1024 * 1024 * 1024]; //works
var EightGBArrayOfBytes = new byte[1024 * 1024 * 1024, 8]; //fails

  • How to get information about limitation Internal Memory on device

    hallo ..
    have some question here, so please some person able to answer my questions
    1. How to get Information about limitation internal memory on device
    2. is possible to improve internal memory on Blackberry ( move apps on external memory )
    3. any tools to get internal memory activity ?
    thanks for this people who joins here, hope we can share more information about blackberry ..

    In addition...
    There are three types of potential memory on a BB: 1) Application Memory, 2) Device Memory, and 3) Media/SD Card Memory.
    Application Memory -- This is the most crucial; it is the protected (not user accessible), dedicated, and fixed (in size) space that is available as the destination for the installation of applications (plus some application storage, overhead and such). You cannot touch AppMemory. You cannot improve the maximum AppMemory that your BB has. It is what it is. Applications can only install here...there is no option.
    Device Memory -- This is space on your BB that you can touch to store files, pictures, media, etc. Typically, it is not terribly large, but it is available to you.
    SD/Media Card Memory-- This is what it says...your SD card, for you to store files, media, pictures, etc. It can be as large as your BB OS can support...see this KB:
    KB05461MicroSD card sizes supported by the BlackBerry device software
    On some devices/OS levels, you can only see "File Free" (Options > Status), which I think is equivalent to AppMemory. On other devices, you can see all three memory usage levels (Options > Memory). Here are some guidelines to use:
    KB02843What is the Low Memory Manager feature on the BlackBerry smartphone
    KB14320How to maximize free space and battery power on the BlackBerry smartphone
    KB14213Call logs, SMS text messages, and email messages are deleted from the BlackBerry smartphone
    Lastly, it is always important to properly close applications when you are done with them. Using the Back or the Red key will not do this -- those leave it to the app to decide what to do...and some will leave themselves resident in memory, consuming resources on your BB, slowing the overall performance. Rather, to close an app, press and select "Close" or "Exit"...that will force the application to be closed, freeing up for your new use the resources it was consuming. Some apps will always remain running (typically -- BBMessenger, Browser, Homescreen, Phone, and Messages)...but, you should still close them properly - especially the Browser...if it is left on an active web page, it will not only consume extra resources but battery power as well.
    Further, anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure. Some have taken to doing this on a regular basis as a preventive measure...some as frequently as once per day. Others have obtained the QuickPull app to automate a simulated Batt-Pull.
    Good luck!

  • Is there any limitation of memory uses for apps in iPad2 or iPad3 ?

    Hi,
       Is there any limitation of memory uses for apps in ipad2 or ipad3 .For example an application can use 10% or 20% of available memory , is there anything like that or the apps can use the total available memory or like 90% of it ?
    I want to know about the memory distribution to the apps in ios .
    Would anyone suggest a right way ?
    Thanks

    iOS manages all memory. You should test your app in Instruments to be sure it is playing nice.

  • Limiting Zone memory consumption

    So in a blurb about the 8/2007 (Update 4) Solaris 10 release I saw the following:
    "Users will now be able to define how much memory and how many processors should be assigned to a particular application or container."
    Memory limits could be a big deal. Anyone know if this is something more than the "pcap" daemon? Is it real memory limits?

  • About the limitation of memory usage of Illustrator.

    Please tell us about the behavior of the illustrator CS5/CS6 when memory usage of illustrator is too many.
    The memory usage of Illustrator is increased, I think the application operates as follow.
    - Warning display (e.g.:Illustrator can not preview)
    - Illustrator stalls
    1.Such as case, Is there memory usage limit?
    2.In the case of memory usage of Illustrator exceed maximum size, how Illustrator works?
      Is there a specification?
    3.Is there the function of the memory auto-release in Illustrator?When the function work?

    Thanks.  Finally found where it is and turned off all alerts.  Verizon doesn't make it easy to find where it is located.  Appreciate the help.

  • Nokia 301 Limited Contact Memory

    Hey every one.
    i need some guidence please help.
    i visited a site to know the contacts memory of Nokia 301, it show 2000 contacts,
    Ref: http://www.gsmarc.com/nokia/301/
    but i could only save 1000 and my phone is showing memory status FULL. how i can access other 1000 ?
    (Trasfered contacts form my previuos mobile Nokia C2-01)
    thanks,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    It is unclear to me also, if combining more numbers into each contact will free up space on the phone.
    Another subject in this forum about the issue is:
    http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Asha-and-other-Nokia-Series-30/Nokia-301-Supports-amounts-of-contact...
    Or you could talk to the store and ask if they are willing to exchange the phone for something more suitable - since you bought it under the impression that it had room for the 2000 contacts advertised by Nokia initially.
    It is not possible to add more space for contacts.
    I hope you get it sorted out, one way or the other.

  • Optimization of the JVM memory - Garbage Collector

    Hi ,
    Just a question about JVM memory management.
    There is memory limitation of memory usage limitation (1.6M) in JVM.
    Is there any possibility to use "Garbage collector" mechanism to optimize the memory usage?
    Or any suggestions for the JVM memory optimization?
    Thanks a lot!!!

    nicolasmichael wrote:
    Hi,
    the "memory limitation" does not have anything to do with garbage collection, but with the address space your operating system provides. On a 32bit operating system, your virtual address space is limited to <= 4 GB, depending on your operating system (for example 1.something GB on Windows and 3.something GB on Solaris). No.
    Windows 32 bit has a 2 GB application space and can be configured to allow a 3GB space.
    The Sun VM does not allow more because of the way that the executable is linked.

  • Memory problem in Flash lite 1.1

    Hi! All.
    I've already posted this to other group.
    But I think this one is more suitable for this issue.
    So, excuse my cross posting.
    Anyway,
    I'm doing some project using flash lite 1.1 for each
    tele-communication
    company in Japan, I mean Docomo, AU, Vodafone.
    My question is there is any way to free memory in flash lite
    1.1 .
    Because you may already know, flash lite 1.1 has a limitation
    about
    memory size which is 100kb.
    So, I want to free memory but there is no even delete or null
    command.
    Only thing that I know about this is unloadMovieClip and
    removeMovieClip.
    But it seems to be not working in most mobile phones.
    The main thing that I want to do is load a swf file and free
    memory and
    reload other swf file, of course their size are below 100kb.
    Until now, I couldn't make it.
    Do you have any information about this?
    Thanks for reading.
    Don in Kobe.

    Resetting the soft keys via FSCommand("ResetSoftKeys"); in
    frame 2 is not the correct method because this will only release
    your control on the soft keys within the application.
    In your code, you might notice that when you move from frame1
    to frame2, your KeyListener Object (i.e myListener) is still
    active. So even when you have a new KeyListener Object(i.e
    myListener1) defined in frame2, the keys on your phone will
    continue to listen to both the active KeyListener Objects.
    The correct method is to remove the KeyListener when moving
    to a new frame, and then redefining the KeyDown function again with
    the same listener object.

  • Query Resource Semaphore Max Memory

    Hi Folks,
    I'm on SQL2005 32-bit and am suffering from memory contention problem.
    I do have AWE setup for
    10485760 kb but it doesn't seem to suffice.
    Looking at dm_exec_query_resource_semaphores I see that my queries are queue'ing up to get memory allocated.
    Now, of course the correct direction here is to fix the queries that are eating all the resources but this is a very old environment with many bad queries which have just exceeded the tipping point.
    What's interesting is that despite having 10GB awe, the column max_target_memory_kb indicates only 750MB.
    Is there any way to grant more memory to the semaphore as a temporary solution?

    Hi Folks,
    I'm on SQL2005 32-bit and am suffering from memory contention problem.

    Hi,
    Can you post output of
    Select @@Version
    You have 32 bit system which has biggest limitation of memory. So things get little tricky here. Have you set max server memory, if so how much ?
    What do you mean by 'AWE setup for 10' G are you referring to max server memory as AWE set memory ?
    AWE behaves differently in 32 bit. Only Data and index pages can use memory allocated by AWE. It actually helps SQL Server to access more memory than its VAS limit.
    The biggest problem creator for resource semaphore are Sort and hash joins. Memory grant is  memory used to store temporary rows for sort and hash join and query will use this memory till it finishes and resource semaphore is responsible for providing
    this memory to query. If resource semaphore is not able to provide memory it puts request in wait list till memory is free so as I see and know only way to resolve is either increase memory or tune query

  • Session and memory details!

    Hi!
    My log file shows as follows:
    metrics Web threads (busy/total): 0/5 Sessions: 575 Total Memory=57624 Free=25022
    What's does it mean?Is it a good sign?I am having 575 live sessions?Can anybody explain pl!Thanks

    Dear Mark.
    Thanks for your reply.
    I have tested how much connection is possible by changing the value of
    large pool and java pool. Shared pool and pga_aggregate_target are the same.
    The database is 10.2.0.2.0 and the os is 32-bit windows enterprise edition sp1.
    Thus, there is 2Giga limitation in memory usage for oracle without VLM
    configuration.
    <pre>
    TEST 1 TEST2
    Shared Pool     500     500
    Large Pool      50     33
    Java Pool     50     33
    PGA     500     500
    </pre>
    In test1, the max number of connection is 329.
    In test2, the max number of connection is 351.
    In both test1 and test2, the size of shared pool and pga are the same.
    I just decrease large pool size and java pool size about 34Mega bytes.
    As a result, 21 more connection was successful.
    I think this means that a session memory is allocated to other area
    outside sga and pga.
    Thanks and Regards.

  • S.o.s. how to set a memory usage limit in flash cs4?

    flash is using 1 200 000 k. and i cant work in this situation. i know that i can limit the usage of memory in ps cs4. but i dont know how i do it in flash. is there a way of limiting the memory usage or making flash use memory as much as this?

    Thats all my poblems!!!
    I used File Monitors from Sysinternals and I see, that Flash operated with C:\xalan\xercesImpl.jar (on my system), and can't find C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS4\META-INF\services\org.apache.xerces.xni.parser.XMLParserConfiguration  and others...
    I temporary remove xalan - well - thats all - CS4 successfully compile, test, check codes !!!
    1) Adobe CS4 used Xerces Apache (and configurated himself, without us)
    2) Use Sysinternals to detect other file-problems

  • Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database VS Oracle In-Memory Database Cache

    Hi,
    What is difference in Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database VS Oracle In-Memory Database Cache.
    For 32 bit on windows OS i am not able to insert data's more than 500k rows with 150 columns (with combinations of CHAR,BINARY_DOUBLE,BINARY_FLOAT, TT_BIGINT,REAL,DECIMAL,NUMERIC etc).
    [TimesTen][TimesTen 11.2.2.2.0 ODBC Driver][TimesTen]TT0802: Database permanent space exhausted -- file "blk.c", lineno 3450, procedure "sbBlkAlloc"
    I have set Perm size as 700 mb,Temp size as 100mb
    What is the max size we can given for PermSize,TempSize,LogBufMB for 32 bit on windows OS.
    What is the max size we can given for PermSize,TempSize,LogBufMB for 64 bit on windows OS.
    What is the Max configuration of TT for 32 bit what i can set for Perm size Temp size.
    Thanks!

    They are the same product but they are licensed differently and the license limits what functionality you can use.
    TimesTen In-Memory Database is a product in its own right allows you to use TimesTen as a standalone database and also allows replication.
    IMDB Cache is an Oracle DB Enterprise Edition option (i.e. it can only be licensed as an option to an Oracle DB EE license). This includes all the functionality of TImesTen In-Memory Database but adds in cache functionality (cache groups, cache grid etc.).
    32-bit O/S are in general a poor platform to try and create an in-memory database of any significant size (32-bit O/S are very limited in memory addressing capability) and 32-bit Windows is the worst example. The hard coded limit for total datastore size on 32-bit O/S is 2 GB but in reality you probably can;'t achieve that. On Windows the largest you can get is 1.1 GB and most often less than that. If you need something more than about 0.5 Gb on Windows then you really need to use 64-bit Windows and 64-bit TimesTen. There are no hard coded upper limit to database size on 64-bit TimesTen; the limit is the amount of free physical memory (not virtual memory) in the machine. I have easily created a 12 GB database on a Win64 machine with 16 GB RAM. On 64-bit Unix machines we have live database of over 1 TB...

  • Web Process + Safari now hogging 50-75% more memory than Safari 5.0.5 did

    Now that Apple has split Safari into two processes — Web Process (handles page loads and other traffic) and Safari (handles interface, bookmarks, history, etc) — these two processes together are using 50% to 75% more memory than Safari did before the upgrade to 5.1.
    Three days ago, the most RAM I'd ever seen Safari hog (after several hours of surfing multiple tabs) was 1.1GB (still way more than it needed, once back down to 3 or 4 tabs).
    Today, after surfing only an hour:
    WebProcess 1.3GB
    Safari           552MB
    Anyone else seeing this? And anyone have ideas about limiting this memory hogging?

    Well, to add a little more frustraton to this thread, a few weeks ago, when I first saw all the bugginess with this "update", I called Apple, was handed up to a higher-level tech person. He told me they were aware of all these problems, and promised me a fix would be released "ASAP".  Well, a few weeks later, & of course, no fix. About a week ago, I called again, & was handed to a different higher-level guy, but this time he gave the same tired, "you should disable all your extensions & plug-ins" blah, blah, blah...   And worse, he told me that he's heard nothing from users about issues with Safari!!!
    Well, I then asked him if the problem really was one or some of the add-ons, why couldn't Apple just give us a list of at least some of the more popular ones that don't work. Why should ever single user have to go thru a one by one, trial & error, add one, then restart, then another, etc, since Apple could just do it, & let us know. Of course, that's never happened, so everyone has been trying anything they can, &/or resorting to using other browsers, & posting here & other places. I sure hope Apple quits stonewalling everyone, you would think they would address this, either by fixing it quickly, or at least letting everyone know they are aware of it, and that a fix will be coming, but pretending they no see, no hear nothing, and it's all in our heads, well, ...... it shucks.

    Exchange 2010/Outlook 2010
    Is there a limit to how many (or size) for moving emails from Exchange (on premise mailbox) to the Exchange Archive (on premise mailbox) using drag and drop within the outlook client?
    I have a user who says it will work on the first move and fail on the second attempt.  I do not know how much data they are trying to move, I do not have that information.  Is there a limit?  Is that limited by memory, network or some sort

    I suggest to use this command to view statistics for that user's archive.
