Multiple IP Configuration

Hi
How many multiple IP s we can configure on a single NIC card.
How will we implement them?
Can anyone guess why do we need to implement multiple IP on a single NIC.?

When you start using Solaris 10 Zones / Containers, you need an IP-address for every zone. But you can also use them for example to host multiple HTTPS sites on your server. If I'm not mistake the limit was 255 and is now higher, but I doubt if many people without a wicked pair of brains are going to host that many HTTPS-sites or zones/containers on a machine with the current generations of hardware.

  • Question: Best practices for dealing with multiple AM configurations

    Hello all,
I have a project using ADF Business Components and ADF Faces. I would like to set up multiple configurations for the Application Modules to support the following scenarios:
1). Local testing and debugging - using a connection defined in JDeveloper and AM Pooling turned off.
2). Testing and debugging on an application server - using a JDBC Data Source and AM Pooling turned off
3). Production deployment - using a JDBC Data Source and AM Pooling turned on.
It is no problem to create multiple AM configurations to reflect this scenario. In order for the web part of the application to use the correct configurations, the DataBindings.cpx file must specify the correct ones. I was thinking to have 3 different DataBindings.cpx files and to change the CpxFileName context-param in the web.xml file as needed.
    My questions:
1). Does this make sense as an approach? It should be better than having to change a single AM configuration every time I deploy or test. Is there any easy way to keep multiple DataBIndings.cpx files in synch, given that we may add new pages from time-to-time? Alternatively, can we do some type of "include" processing to include just the dataControlUsages section into a common DataBindings.cpx file?
2). How would you manage the build-and-deploy process? For the most part, in JDev we would be using configuration #1. The only time to switch to configuration #2 or #3 would be to build an EAR file for deployment. Is this something that it would make sense to accomplish with ANT? I'm not an ANT expert at all. The ANT script would have "build-test-ear" and "build-prod_ear" targets which would swap in a correct web.xml file, recompile everything, build the EAR, then put the development web.xml file back. I'm relatively sure this is possible... comments?
3). Is there some other recommended approach?
I appreciate any insights from experience, or even just ideas or thoughts that I can test out.
    Best regards,
    John

    Hi K,
Sorry for the long long delay in responding I've been traveling - and thanks for the e-mail tickler too...
To answer your question in short, I do think that ANT is the right way to go; there is an extra ANT task called XMLTask that I was able to download and play with, and it seems it would make this manipulation of the cpx file (or the xcfg file, for that matter) pretty straightforward. I don't have any code to post; it's just in the conceptual stage for me right now. I didn't see anything magical in JDev 11 TP3 that solved this problem for me either.
Having said all of that, it's more complicated than it might appear. In addition to the DataBindings.cpx file (stores, among other things, which AM configuration to use for each data control), it's certainly possible to programmatically access an AM (specifying the configuration either directly in the code or via a properties file/etc). I'm not sure what the most common use case for AM configurations is, but in my case, I have a Test configuration and a Prod configuration. The Test config, among other things, disables AM pooling. When I am developing/testing, I always use the Test config; in Production, I always use the Prod config. Perhaps the best way for me to do this would be to have an "Active" config and use ANT tasks to copy either Test or Prod to "Active." However, our Subversion repository is going to have a few complaints about this.

  • Multiple runtime configurations

    Hi,
I'd like to set up multiple runtime configurations on a project. i.e. I want to be able to run the same java class with multiple program arguments or virtual machines. Is there any way I can do this without creating a separate project or using <target> in an ant file?
Thanks in advance for any help,

    Hi Venura,
You can do this in Project Properties. On the Profiles page, click New... to create a new profile. You can change many of the runtime settings associated with the project for each individual profile.

  • T530 multiple display configuration lead to errors when closing the laptop

    Hello,
I have a Lenovo T530 2429CTT and I am having some trouble when trying to set up my multiple display configuration with a Lenovo ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3.
I have an external Samsung LCD monitor which is connected to the Mini Dock via DisplayPort.
I am running Win 7 Prof.
The problem I see is with an application which uses DirectX. The display looks fine in the following configuration:
    - Laptop open
    - External Samsung LCD Monitor on
    - Display cloned so that both devices show my desktop
The issues appear when I close the laptop. I do this because in my office I only work with the external monitor so I don't need the internal display of the laptop at that moment.
When I close the laptop the following happens:
The external display gets dark for some seconds. It comes up again, gets dark and after a while (maybe 10 sec) it stays active. Sometimes I see a notification that the color scheme has changed to Win 7 basic.
Everything seems to be fine now but when looking at the DirectX based display of my application I have some problems for example with the refresh (the display looks very weird).
BTW: The laptop has an internal and an external graphic card (Internal: Intel HD 4000, External: NVIDIA NVS 5400M).
So it seems as when the laptop gets closed, the internal graphics will be turned off. Due to this the display on the external monitor also changes the settings of the graphhic card (maybe it gets turned in an energy saver state).
I was looking at many of the NVIDIA settings without any success so hopefully somebody in this forum has an idea what is happening there.
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hi,
I'm trying to buy the exact same configuration.
although i cannot find this 2429CTT on lenovo site anywhere, is available for selling on a known european supplier.
and my propose is to have 2 Monitors connected, so I'll follow this inquire very closely and hold my order until then.
do you have any update on it?
just by curiosity, what about the rest? how does the PC feels to you? everything else is working?
    thanks

  • Using multiple Development Configurations

    Hi,
I am runningn NWDS 7.0.0.6 and I want to configure multipe Development Configurations because I have to connect to serveral NWDIs (to differenct customers).
    Any Idea?
    Kind regards
    Michael

With a single NWDS instance you <b>can</b> actually import multiple development configurations, not just one. If you want to import configurations from different NWDI servers, you would have to switch the Development Configuration Pool settings under Window -> Preferences -> Java Development Infrastructure to point to the other NWDI's SLD.
The biggest problem with the current releases of NWDS is however that they cannot use multiple sets of credentials for logging on to these development configurations: You can only log on to configs of multiple NWDI servers if you have the same userid and password on these servers.
Note that the Development Configuration Pool setting is only used when you want to import configurations, it is not used during the log on process.

  • WRT160N - does it support multiple vLan configurations?

I'm trying to find more detailed tech. specifications of this thing (WRT160N), but unfortunatelly I get only some basic marketing messages... I need to understand if this router supports vLAN configuration, as I'm thinking to have IPtv and internet on the same. My provider does integrates the IPtv into separate vLAN, but their HW is not too good in other perspectives... So I'm thinking about linksys.
So does it support multiple vLAN configuration (i.e. dedication of separate vLAN to exact port)?

No. VLANs are not supported in Linksys devices. You'll have to look at Cisco Small Business or better.

  • Multiple application Configurations /Component Configurations.

    Hi,
I want to know in which scenario we  have to create multiple application Configurations and multiple Component Configurations.
    Plz explain With examples...
    Best Regards,
    dev

A component config controls the component it self. All views.
eg a Component when called with config SALES, hides all PRODUCTIN fields.
Or a Component called with config EXTERNAL automatically switches fields to DISPLAY only. whatever...
You can see why many configs of 1 component make sense.
Now you also know   a component can embed other components.
SO how to you string these all together.
    When you configure an application:
You simple choose one of the configurations for all embedded components
    that should be used.
The APPL config tool, looks inside components to find other embedded components.
You can have a deep selection of component configuration until you reach the lowest level.
Hence why APPLICATION configuration is required and not just component configuration.
The application config can have many component config selections inside it.
    Cheers

  • How to set up multiple log4j configurations for multiple WAR packages?

    hi all,
the EAR that i am trying to deploy has multiple WARs.
I need to configure separate loggers for each these WARs.
Could any of experts can help me out.

    Hi
Depending on your needs, you may find that Set level offers the best approach:
Within a Set you have the Playbacks (Set Level, so they work for the entire set) with individual patches in the set "live" for the EWI etc as needed.
You need only map one set of controls for all the Playbacks since only 1 set can run at a time.

  • Multiple vlans configuration issue with RV016 router and SG 300-10MP witch

    Hi,
I have to configure multiple vlans served with a unique DCHP server . As first step, I just will The DHCP server to serve 2 vlans. The following is the hardware and configuration that I implemented :
Router (RV016 10/100 16-Port VPN Router) as gateway mode:
    IP : 172.16.0.1/24
    DHCP Server :
    IP : 172.16.0.2/24 GW: 172.16.0.1
    2 subnets :
    172.16.1.0/24 GW: 172.16.1.1 to serve vlan 1
    172.16.2.0/24 GW:172.16.2.1 to serve vlan 2
Switch (SG 300-10MP 10-Port Gigabit PoE Managed Switch) as layer 3 mode:
    IP 172.16.0.254 (vlan 8 default)
    Vlan 1 : 172.16.1.1
    Vlan 2 : 172.16.2.1
1 device connected on each vlan
a workstation on the vlan 1
a laptop on the vlan 2
In this scenario (see the attached pdf file) the DHCP server is connected on a router, hosts on vlans dont receive any IP address.
But If I connect the DHCP server on a trunked switch port and adapt the DHCP server gateway 172.16.0.1 to 172.16.0.254, hosts receive ip address properly.
I have to connect the DHCP server directly to the router. How can I do that, what is wrong in the configuration ?
I hope the explanations are clear enough and my English too
Any help will be highly appreciated,
    Zoubeir

Hi Eric, the small business group doesn't support the ASA config, but  I can help with the switch.
A couple things I notice in your description-
48 port (192.168.1.254) and the other 24P (192.168.1.253)  we have a  second vlan 20 set up on the 24P switch (192.168.2.253)  we have ports  1-12 set for vlan20 (untagged and trunk), the remaining ports on on the  default vlan 1.
The connection between the switches, is it 1u, 2t?
The link between the switches should be 1u, 2t, the switches support the trunking and vlan tagging, meaning all communication will work fine.
We have the 24p and 48p switches connect using GE1 and GE1.  We are unable to ping a device on vlan 20 ( on the 24p switch
The 24p switch should be in layer 2 mode, if you have the 48 port l3 switch upstream. Additionally, you need to have the default gateway set on the 24p switch.
We have a static route set on the 24p switch (0.0.0.0 192.168.1.0).
Between the switches, it shouldn't require any static routes, assuming you correctly trunk / tag your ge1 ports, with both switches operating in l3, the ip route table dynamically builds the connected routes, therefore a static route is redundant.

  • Handling Unit label (V6) - multiple printers configuration

I would like to print the handling unit label (V6) in multiple printers. Currently the condition records are set to plant/Packaging material combination with printing in one printer. I would like to have the ability to print to different printer in HU02 t-code based on userID. Can I configure it based on storage location or userid? Thank you.

Are you using WM+HUM or only IM+HUM?
In OMJ3 you can define printer by Storage Location,
in OMLV you can defin printer by WM organizational levels (storage types), movement type etc.
You can use NACE t-code to set the output type you want in addition to MDoc printout.
Can you explain your config, when are you printing your HUs at the moment?

  • Multiple SLM Configuration Assistant

    Hi All,
I got an error whilst trying to update our XI system using Maintenance Optimizer were it said
The system/systems - XID-cischexid01, has/have not been registered in SLM
    Message no./TMWFLOW/SLMMSG002
    Diagnosis
In order to download and deploy the support packages to the managed systems, these systems should be registered in SLM.
    Procedure
    1. Run transaction code /TMWFLOW/MOPZCFG;
    2. Start the Multiple Software Lifecycle Manager Configuration Assistant;
    3. Select an SLM or create a new SLM;
    4. Choose "SLM Configuration" and register these systems in the SLM
So I did what it suggested.  However there was an SSL error with the connection.  After much research I discovered that since our SOLMAN system uses self signed certificates I needed the server cert in the ssl client list.  But using SSL Client Standard still produced the error whereas Anonymous didn't.  So the rfc connection was sorted and working but when I hit the SLM Check or SLM Configuration buttons it prompts me for a username and password for access to Resource slmSolManServices/Config1.  Every username and password I have used doesn't work!
I have followed this guide :- SLM Configuration Step by Step but it mentions nothing about this.  I have Create SLM security roles as per section 9 and assigned them to users accordingly but this doesn't make any difference.
    I am running Solution Manager 7.01 SPS13.
I can log into https://<host>:50001/slm no problem and view the systems XID is listed in there but the J2EE doesn't show any installed Software Components.
I get the same request for username and password when running the Web Services Navigator.
Anyone got any ideas?  I've spent several days looking into this reading lots of notes and SDN postings but I have not found anything hence this post.
    Thanks
    Craig

    No problem for the help.
I'm glad to have help someone who can give me my first 6 or 10 points !
We had many problems in EHP1 SP18 and we found many notes that explain us that our problems will be solved in SP19 only, but i don't remember wich one...
I try to apply the documentation but i cannot configure the https accept because of the librairy libsapcrypto. The documentation tell us to go to download it on the website but we don't have the rights and you have to request this librairy to waldorf only !
With the sp19, the solman_setup appears and correct many problems, but not the SLM problems : services are unavailable !
Do you test your services in VA like i said ? Mine doesn't works...

  • Multiple SSID With Multiple VLANs configuration on Cisco Aironet APs: Assotiated clients cannot obtain IP addresses

    Hi Surendra,
I was just given this task to see how i can configure a second ssid for guest access in our environment.
this is our network setup prior to this request: Internet----Firewall (not ASA)---ce520---C1131AG and CME router is also connecting to the ce520 switch. we only have two vlans: one for voice and two for data.
Presently, there is no vlan configured on the AP because it on broadcasting ont ssid and wireless users gets IP from a windows DHCP server on the LAN. the configuration on the ce520 switch port for the AP and other switches say access vlan is the DATA vlan which automatically becomes the native vlan for all trunk port connecting the AP and other Stiches to the network.
Now with this new requirement, i have made my research and i have configured the AP to broadcast both the production and the guest Vlans. The two vlans are 20-DATA and 60-Guest. I made the DATA vlan on the AP the native vlan since the poe switch is using the DATA vlan as native on the trunk ports. I configured the firewall to serve as DHCP server for the guest ssid and i have added the ip helper-address on the guest vlan interface on all switches while the windows server remains the dhcp server for the production DATA Vlan. I have confirmed that the AP, switches can ping the default gateway of the guest dhcp server which is another interface on the firewall. I can now see and connect to all broadcasted ssids but the problem is I am not getting IP addresses from both the production dhcp server and guest dhcp server when i connected to the ssid one at a time.
My AP config is attached below.
Please tell me what am I doing wrong.
Do i need to redesign the whole network to have a native vlan other nthan the data vlan?
Does the access point need to be aware of the voice vlan?
Do the native Vlan on the AP need to be in Bridge-group 1 or can i leave it in bridge-group 20?
I will greatly appreciate your urgent response.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi,
As far as i know we dont set the ip helper address on the radio interface. It should be on the L3 interface of corresposding VLANs i.e.
    int vlan 20
    ip helper-address 192.168.33.xxx
    int vlan 60
    ip helper-address 130.20.1.xxx
I'm assuming that your using SVI's (int Vlan 20 and int Vlan 60) rahter than physical interfaces. Also hope you have configured switch port as trunk where this AP is connected.
Modify the AP config as below since you are using data vlan as the native vlan
    interface Dot11Radio0.20
    encapsulation dot1Q 20 native
    interface FastEthernet0.20
    encapsulation dot1Q 20 native
Ideally your AP fastethernet configuration should looks like below and not sure how you missed this as this comes by default when you have multiple vlans for multiple ssids.
    interface FastEthernet0.20
    encapsulation dot1Q 20 native
    no ip route-cache
    bridge-group 20
    no bridge-group 20 source-learning
    bridge-group 20 spanning-disabled
    interface FastEthernet0.60
    encapsulation dot1Q 60
    no ip route-cache
    bridge-group 60
    no bridge-group 60 source-learning
    bridge-group 60 spanning-disabled
    Hope this helps.

  • T530 multiple display configuration

I have the T530 with the NVIDIA Optimus option that should allow a triple display configuration (two external displays and the laptop LCD).
I have been able to get a working configuration with the laptop LCD and two external displays over DisplayPort through the docking station.
I have found that upon some boot cycles, I am either stuck with just the laptop LCD as the only display or I am able to turn on only one external display. Sometimes a reboot will change it, sometimes it will not.
What's strange is that the NVIDIA control panel and the Windows display settings show all three LCDs, I am just not able to turn on one or both of the external displays (even if I turn off the laptop LCD).
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
    Thank you!

    Hi, admarsha
There are updates available for both your BIOS and Optimus that may help this issue. The BIOS update can be found here and the Optimus update can be found here. Looking over the ReadMe for the Nvidia update, part of the update does help with issues connected to multiple displays through docking stations so it may help.
