OAS 4.0.8.1 - JServlet Cartridge - error OWS-04769
Hi,
I'm trying to run servlets under the JServlet Cartridge of OAS. My servlet uses the HttpSession class to track sessions. After receiving requests from 3 clients the servlet stops running with the following messages in wrb.log:
08-15-2000 14:22:56 460136 darkstar `Broker` 5786 1 0x10fff `OWS-04769: Number of instances for Cartridge Secure_Apps/Login at darkstar has reached the maximum. `

How do I increase the number of cartridge instances? Or how else can I work around this problem.
Thanks.
Martin

I increased the severity level for logging to 15 for the Cartridge configuration
in the OASManager.
It says init method did not return. For my init method I have that following :
public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException
super.init(config) ;
All the above was generated by the Servlet Wizard.
Below if the level 15 trace information :
OWS-10911: Throwing exception for reason: wrkwExecute: Exec callback returned WRB_ERROR `
OWS-10833: Cartridge HelloServlet/HelloCart init runtime callback did not return WRB_DONE `
OWS-10911: Throwing exception for reason: wrkwfInit:Error in wrkwfInit `
OWS-10911: Throwing exception for reason: wrkwfStartOrig:Error at creation time `
OWS-10911: Throwing exception for reason: wrkwfStart: Cartridge Instance factory creation failed. `
OWS-10803: Cartridge instance factory for HelloServlet/HelloCart not intialized `
OWS-10911: Throwing exception for reason: No Carrtridge Instance Factories Initialized Properly `
OWS-10821: Application HelloServlet failed to deregister with the name server `
OWS-10850: Cartridge Server HelloServlet received exception IDL:oracle/OAS/Cartridge/InitFailed:1.0 while deregistering
Can anyone advise why and what needs to be
done to fix this ??
Please help.

OAS JServlet Cartridge and PathInfo
OAS 4.0.8 documentations states that to invoke a JServlet cartridge, the URL must be in the following format: /virtual_path/java_class_name[path_info][?QUERY_STRING]]http://hostname:port]/virtual_path/java_class_name[path_info][?QUERY_STRING]
For example, if a browser sends the following URL: http://myhost/my_virtual_path/myServlet/myPathInfo JServlet cartridge is supposed to recognize myServlet as a servlet class and myPathInfo as a Sting returned by getPathInfo() method.
But I couldn't make it work that way. I was able to invoke myServlet sending just http://myhost/my_virtual_path/myServlet. But every time I add myPathInfo to the request URL the JServlet cartridge fails to invoke servlet with myServlet/myPathInfo.class not found error message. Am I missing somethig? My phisical path associated with the virtual directory points to the package containing servlet class and some other classes. Actually that servlet is working fine on Apache server and I am in process of porting it to OAS.

XML parser in JServlet cartridge [OAS 4.0.8.1]
i'm deploying XML-aware servlets on Oracle Application Server 4.0.8.1 using JServlet cartridge.
I wondered if anyone did this before, especially in the light of rather crippled JVM of OAS [JDK1.1.6 only].
any input would be appreciated.
thanks,
alan <[email protected]>There are no known issues with the configuration. JDK's before 1.1.8 (for sure, 1.1.7) have character set conversion problems between UTF-8 and other character sets, so if you are doing that, you may have issues.

OAS 4.0.8.1 JServlet: Extra path info not implemented?
Didn't Oracle implement extra path info for servlets? According to the Java Servlets spec it should be possible to invoke a servlet with a URL like http://host/servlets/MyServlet/index.html where /index.html would be accessible through the getPathInfo() method of the servlet and the translated path would be accessible through the getPathTranslated() method.
Trying the sample servlet SnoopServlet delivered with OAS 4.0.8.1 through http://host/servlets/SnoopServlet/index.html OAS tries to load a class called ...\SnoopServlet\index\html and throws a ClassNotFoundException (naturally).
Is this a bug or didn't Oracle implement extra path info?
Thanks.
Finn
nullI posted the same question some time ago but I didn't get an answer. BTW Oracle JServlet Cartridge documentation states that extra path is accessible through the getPathInfo(). Here is excerpt from the Invoking JServlet cartridges document:
To invoke a JServlet cartridge, the URL must be in the following format:
http://hostname[ ort]/virtual_path/java_class_name[path_info][?QUERY_STRING]
where:
hostname specifies the machine where the application server is running.
port specifies the port at which the application server is listening. If omitted, port 80 is assumed.
virtual_path specifies a virtual path mapped to the JServlet cartridge.
java_class_name specifies the Java class to run. This class must contain an entry point method. If a query string is included in the URL then there must be a doGet() method.
path_info provides additional path information for the servlet. The path can be accessed from the servlet using the HttpServletRequest.getPathInfo() method.
QUERY_STRING specifies parameters (if any) for the Java class. The string follows the format of the GET method. For example, multiple parameters are separated with the & character and spaces are replaced with the + character. If you use HTML forms to generate the string (as opposed to generating the string yourself), the formatting is done automatically for you.
But I couldn't make it work as described in documentation.

HP Deskjet 1510 Tri-color Ink Cartridge Error
I just bought a HP Deskjet 1510 back in August and I loaded the HP original ink cartridges that come with the purchase. For the first 5 print jobs it was working well, but somehow after a while my laptop and the printer itself just kept warning that there's low ink level in the cartridges (especially the tri-color one). I haven't even got to use the tri-color cartridge much as I've been printing in grayscale ever since I've used this printer.
I've tried taking the cartridge out and putting it back in again; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I thought it might be a contact issue so I cleaned those parts too but it didn't change anything.
It's getting extremely frustrating as I'll have to do this for god knows how many times for every single page I print or copy. This happens to the black cartridge too but 90% of the time it's the tri-color cartridge.
Please help.
Thanks.Hello @ut32w , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I hope you had a great holiday!
I understand from reading your post that you are running into cartridge errors. I'd like to help!
I would first suggest removing the ink cartridges, and performing a power reset. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend running through the steps listed in the document below:

HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-in-One - N911n cartridge errors
Please help! I have an Officejet Pro 8600 all in one that is just over a year old, just out of warrenty... We don't use it much and so just had to change the ink cartridges for the first time. Once they were changed out, the printer gave me the warning that there is a cartridge error and that the Cyan failed. Even though it was a brand new cartridge, I bought another one and changed it again. I still get the same error message with the 2nd new one. I have been through everything on the HP website for troubleshooting this problem and nothing works! Please, does anyone have anything else I can do????
Sorry to hear you are still having this problem. So the yellow was out and you replaced the yellow and then the cyan failed?
Printers when left not used for some time, may have printhead issue, but if it's not even recognizing the cartridge, then more likely a hardware or board issue that may need professional service.
One thing you can try is to update the firmweare (if not already), http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL41945/bi-101905-5/OJP8600_N911a_R1322C.exe

This equipment was working just fine after I installed a re-filled black ink cartridge. A few days later I began to get a flashing light with the message: Cartridge Error. See Product Documentation for details. Sometimes my computer said the printer was offline when it wasn't. I have also had occasional cartridge door open messages when the door was closed. I have removed the two cartrdges, cleaned them with water by using a coffee filter as a swab. I have also uninstalled and, I think, reinstalled the software printer driver, but I am not entirely certain as to that.
Hi there @donpablitosan!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I would be happy to help in regards to the flashing lights and cartridge error on the printer. You had also mentioned that the computer sometimes shows the printer offline or door open errors. I should be able to help with that as well!
The first thing I suggest is to plug the printer into the wall outlet directly if it is currently in a power surge protector or extension cord. This may sound silly but this will ensure the printer is getting full power and may eliminate any unnecessary troubleshooting. If the printer is no longer getting full power from the power surge or extension cord it may give false errors or have poor connection and paper feed issues.
From what I can find it looks like you have done all the troubleshooting regarding the cartridge itself. If you have tried the above suggestion and are still getting the same issue then you may need to try another cartridge to see if the issue is coming from the printers hardware or the cartridge.
Thanks again for posting on the HP Forums!
Please post back and let me know how it goes and enjoy your day!

I installed a new black cartridge in my HP PSC 1410 All-in-One. It printed a sheet to align the cartridges, but it won't scan, and I can't find HP Utilities or Scan or Toolbox on my MAC.
I tried taking one cartridge out, then the other. That did not help. I also tried turning everything off, no luck. The only thing that happened was the printer printed another aligning sheet.
Any suggestions??
ThanksHello apgrams,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're receiving a few problems with the PSC 1410. I will do my best to assist you! What is your operating system on your Mac computer? Click here to find out.
Are you still receiving "Check Print Cartridges" error?
Is this alignment sheet missing colors? If not, then please follow these steps:
1) Remove all ink cartridges from the printer, then close the door
2) Remove the power cord from the printer (Do not press the power button)
3) Wait 60 seconds or more, then plug the power cord back in
4) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges
5) Try to print another alignment page
I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

I keep getting a "Print Cartridge Error" even after replacing both ink carts in my psc2410
I keep getting a "Print Cartridge Error" on my psc 2410. I replaced both ink cartiridges and cannot clear the error. Any ideas?
After playing with it, I now get only a 'check color cartirdge' message. I've pulled it out, checked the contacts and put it back in several times to no avail...

whether my oracle's version 11.2.0.1 has no the RDBMS bug fix, and other problems? ThanksOracle R Enterprise 1.1. requires Oracle Database 11.2.0.3, 11.2.0.4. On Linux and Windows. Oracle R Enterprise can also work with an 11.2.0.1 or 11.2.0.2 database if it is properly patched.
Embedded R execution will not work without a patched database. Follow this procedure to patch the database:
1. Go to My Oracle Support:http://support.oracle.com
2. Log in and supply your Customer Support ID (CSI).
3. Choose the Patches & Updates tab.
4. In the Patch Search box, type 11678127
and click Search
5. Select the patch for your version of Oracle Database, 11.2.0.1.
6. Click Download to download the patch.
7. Install the patch using OPatch. Ensure that you are using the latest version of OPatch.

Error -29400ORA-29400: data cartridge error IMG-00714: internal error
Hi,
I have a table with a blob column containing images, not
intermedia column.
I am using intermedia process method to change some images,
change maxScale and compression.
I get this error when I try to change certain images
-29400ORA-29400: data cartridge error
IMG-00714: internal error
Does anyone know why?
P.S. how do you do an explict close of ORDSYS variable
after initializing?
Thank you
David Wilton
This is my testing procedure:
PROCEDURE change_image (P_SCANNED_IMAGES_REC IN NUMBER) IS
v_intermed_image ORDSYS.ORDImage := ORDSYS.ORDImage.init();
BEGIN
select image_data
into v_intermed_image.source.localdata
from obra.scanned_images
where scanned_images_rec = p_scanned_images_rec
for update;
v_intermed_image.process('compressionFormat=FAX4,maxScale=1696
2200');
update obra.scanned_images
set image_data = v_intermed_image.source.localdata
where scanned_images_rec = p_scanned_images_rec;
commit;
exception
when others then
dbms_output.put_line('An exception occurred');
dbms_output.put_line(sqlcode || sqlerrm);
END;David,
I suspect you'll need to supply a TIFF image for the interMedia
engineers to experiment on. The error message you received is
essentially a "last chance" error message and isn't specific
enough for diagnosis of your problem.
Cheers

Print Cartridge Error (Electrical Failed Pen)
I'm using an HP Deskjet F4400 series, and I just replaced my empty black cartridge. Prior to that, the color cartridge was around 75% full. After installing the black cartridge, I have an error with the color cartridge, Print Cartridge Error (Electrical Failed Pen). I found a thread that suggested cleaning the contacts, but I still have the same error, and cannot use the printer. Please help!
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hi, you could try doing a reset (check out this link ), then try to reseat the cartridges and perform an alignment (details here ). Does this solve the problem?

Photosmart C5280 all-in-one Cartridges error message
hi, I have a Photosmart C5280 all-in-one. It's been good until today when I got an error message:
! Print Cartridges refer to printer documentation.
I've only ever used genuine HP cartridges. I have the correct ones in - 75XL tricolour and 74XL black.
I've taken them out, reseated them several times to no avail, the error message will not leave and the printer will not function. Any ideas please?Hi there Crouch11,
