Sending and receiving fax documents

I am wondering if there is a way to send and receive fax documents through my iMac. My internet connection is through a cable modem and have only found a way to fax using a modem. Any ideas would be great. Thanks

Unless your iMac has a built-in modem port, you will have to use an external fax modem for direct faxing. Otherwise, you can use an internet fax service such as eFax or FaxZero (US/Can only.)

  • Help please:set up mac 10.4.11 with ext dsl modem to send and receive faxes

Hi and thanks in advance. I have a G4MDD dual processor, and have a dsl modem for internet connection. I want to set up to send and receive faxes. I can make and receive phone calls while connected to the internet. any ideas or help appreciated. Thanks again.

I cannot send/receive faxes via my dsl, I have to use my regular phone line. (My DSL modem only has one phone jack port, and that is to connect it to the outside world. Pretty sure this is true of every DSL modem.)
When I need fax capability, I unplug the phone line to my telephone at the phone end, and plug that cable into the modem port in the back of the G4. (The modem is built-in.) After sending / receiving, I switch the cable back to the phone.
You set up fax capability in System Preferences / Print and Fax.

  • Does Tiger need Fax software to send and receive faxes?

I need an inexpensive way to receive faxes. I will be buying a usb modem, likely the Apple modem. Do I need to also purchase fax software or does Tiger make it possible to send and receive faxes?

I found out from another query that yes I can send and receive faxes by going to the Print/Fax icon in System Preferences.

  • Can you send and receive Fax`s with Firefox?

Can you send and receive Fax`s with Firefox? If so how do you do it?

    Hi invariance,
Your printer supports eFax only, not analog faxing. To eFax, you will need to go through the registration process from the front panel of the printer. This will give you 20 faxes per month for free. If additional faxing is needed, you will need to cantact eFax and set up an account. There will be a fee for additional faxing capabilities.

  • Send and receiving XML documents out/into APO

    Hi all,
We are on APO 5.0 and want to send our forecast from a planning book to a partner and also receive their data.
Has anybody ever done this via XML?
We are not planning to use ICH. But we have XI or could use Business Connector?
    Any response is appreciated! Thanks

    Hi,
I would suggest you for XI with Proxy. Or either you can go for RFC but better is using proxy for communicating.

  • Problems sending and receiving faxes on mx892 all in one

I seem to be unable to set my mx892 for faxing or for printing. Every time I want to use the printer I have to go through the menu and reset everything again--sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. The machine continues to scan over and over when I only need one copy. I can only use the inside glass to copy. Faxes are much the same--to fax I have to go one sheet at a time and the only setting I seem to be able to use is the inside glass not the feeder that allows you to fax (or print) several sheets at a time. It would be a fair guess that I am not a technical person at all and trust me I do feel stupid, but I really need help with this. I have a small business and need to be able to use this machine. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

    Hi patfromvermont!
Please make sure you are loading in the paper through the following procedure:
    1. Make sure that any original has been removed from the platen glass.
    2. Load a document in the ADF.
    (1) Open the document tray.
    (2) Insert the document in the document tray until you hear a beep sound.
Load the document WITH THE SIDE TO SCAN FACING UP in the document tray.
    REFERENCE
When you set the alarm to be silent in Sound control of Device user settings, the alarm will not beep even if the document is inserted in the document tray.
    (3) Adjust the document guides to match the width of the document.
Do not slide the document guides too hard against the document. The document may not be fed properly.

  • FAX machine with Manual function & option to connect PC for Send and receive

Nearly every MFD out there has these capabilities.  I know the Ricoh, Konicaminolta, and the Kyocera can do this.  The larger machines the fax needs to be installed as an option.  Once installed you have walk up fax, scan to PC, Scan to e-mail, Fax forwarding to PC, or e-mail and if the driver is installed you can fax from your PC through the copier.

    Hi to the Community
We have a requirement of FAX machine which should fulfill
    our below requirements
Manual mode for sending and receiving Fax as Traditional
Second option required is it can be connected to PC so that
fax can be sent and receive directly from computer as well
I know to set up windows fax option to fulfill the second
requirement, but we need both options
If anyone knows a specific model, kindly let me know

  • Send and receive a FAX without a phone line

Is it possible to send and receive faxes without a phone line. Instead, can I use bluetooth and cell phone? Or, are there any other options?
    MacBook Pro 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Yes/No. There are internet options, companies/programs that like internet phone dialers allow you to send faxes over the internet that end up calling actual phones. Most (if not all) charge a fee for this.
As for bluetooth/cellphone, you're better off sticking with internet options. You could use bluetooth if you had a bluetooth device setup to receive and convert but I'm not sure such advices exist and even if they did I'm not sure the value of them. It would be like sending from your laptop while standing next to a fax machine. Cell phones are possible if your phone allows connection via modem which only a handful do. Given a cellphone with modem support and an apple modem, its possible.

  • HP OFFICEJET PRO 8600 PLUS UNABLE TO SEND OR RECEIVE FAXES

I've had this Officejet 8600 about a year with no problems whatsoever. I scanned a document to computer earlier this week and when the scan finished, I received the message "unable to send or receive faxes."  I've been all over the forum, tried everything on the "Cannot send and receive faxes" page.  My connections are all good, I'm using a two-wire phone cord.  Just out of the blue, it quit.  Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hello aimtheflame,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're receiving a message stating "Unable to send and receive faxes" using the Officejet 8600 Plus. I will do my best to assist you! Just to clarify, are you able to scan or copy a document successfully?
If so, then I need to find out what type of added features do you have on this fax phone line? Did you change anything recently on this line? I would suggest following this entire HP document on Cannot Send or Receive Faxes. Try running a fax test report to verify if anything fails.
Also, try turning off error correction mode on your printer:
    1. Press the Right arrow, then press setup (Wrench)
    2. Press Fax menu, press advanced fax setup
    3. Press error correction mode to off
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus will not send or receive fax

I have connected the fax machine to the phone outlet, the fax machine dials to another fax machine, the connection sounds like it is being made (the receiving fax machine sends out a noise signalling that it has received a phone call) and then the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus says that is is "Connecting" but no fax is sent. Nor can I receive a fax, even though the phone rings on the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.   The error code I get is Error 388 which is that a communication error occurred during fax transmission.  However, this message occurs regardless of the fax number that I send to, and I had the recipient check that the receiving fax machine was working fine for transmittals from others.
Is it possible that the proble is that  I cannot send or receive faxes through a digital phone line?  That seems odd to me given that almost all phone lines in the modern era are digital.  How do I send and receive faxes with the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus if the only phone lines available are digital?  Also, 4 months ago, I used the same phone line for the same machine, and the fax function worked, but my phone provider assures me that the only phone lines that they have ever provided are digital.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
I am sorry to hear you are having issues with the fax functionality on your Officejet 8600 plus. I have found a document that has several troubleshooting steps you can try to narrow down the issue. I know some of these steps you have already done, but there might be a few that you haven't, like there is a HP test fax service you can use to test functionality.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8610 Unable to send or receive faxes. (tried all of the official steps)

Can't send or receive faxes. Everything else is working just fine.I just get the error "Unable to send or receive faxes" The all-in-one is plugged directly into the wall jack directly. It doesn't share a line with anything. No voicemail. No phone calls. No DSL. Nothing. This is a dedicated fax line for our small business.  I used the search function and found a post which led me HereI've done every applicable troubleshooting solution 3 x now. Nothing works. Not resetting. Not unplugging. Not going through the setup wizard and completely re-setting up the machine. Nothing.  It's software/drivers are also fully up to date. I appreciate any help that I can get as our business is essentially at a stand-still until we can send faxes again.

Hey , I understand that you are having some issues with sending and receiving faxes on our Officejet 8610. I can help you with that. As you have found our usual troubleshooting steps and performed them there are only a few other things we can try. Make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. On the printer click on the Fax icon.Click on the gear.Scroll down to and click on Fax Setup.Click on Advanced Setup.Turn Error Correction Off.Set Fax Speed to Medium.Turn the printer off and on again.Try faxing. If you are still unable to fax at this point then we can attempt a factory reset. I will send you a private message regarding how to do that shortly. If you are still unable to fax after that then the printer will need to be replaced. You can contact HP support by clicking on this link. On the next page scroll down and fill out the form. Once completed you will find info on how to contact HP. I hope this helps and I hope you have a great weekend!

  • Can't send or receive faxes

I am using an iMAC G5 with PowerPC chip.  When I bought this iMac G5 it had OS 10.3.9. The ability to send and receive faxes in the computer worked fine.
Then I upgraded the system to OS10.5.8. Ever since the upgrade the fax capability does not work. When I attempt to send a fax it never initiates the phone call. I have checked the settings in System Preferences and it shows the internal modem as "idle" but has a green dot, indicating the modem is being recognized. And yes, I have verified that the computer is connected to a working phone line. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Info from system profiler about the modem is:
    Modem Model: Jump
    Interface Type: I2S
    Modulation: V.92
    Hardware Version: Version 1.0
    Driver: MotorolaSM56K.kext (v1.3.9)
