[Solved] Error upon selecting "base" package during install process

Hey guys,
I got stuck in the install process. the following issue never occured to be before.
Upon selecting the base package during install and pressing "OK", i recieve the following error:
ERROR: check_is_in needs a non-empty needle as $1 and a haystack as $2!(gote: check_is_in '' 'base')
and that throws me out of the installation process.
A google search on the error message only returned sites where the responsible script is postet.
I am installing arch linux on a lenovo x220, on a seperate ext4 partition.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I just read through this post and it did fix my issue.  However, I do not remember what mirror I selected.
It was a few selections below kernel.org......

  • Can't download packages during install

    I'm using an Arch 0.7RC disk to install.  I'm attempting to install the base packages during install from numerous mirrors and getting an error stating that one or more packages could not be downloaded.
    Should I burn a newer 0.7 final ISO?  I figureed I could just use this one and download newer packages with pacman.

    Hi trey.
    Is networking set up? You may need to install a NIC driver, configure the network, and then start the network before you can run pacman or download from external sources.
    You might find it easier to install the 'base' packages first. Next set up your network connection. And then update/upgrade the packages.
    You'll need to include your NIC driver name in the 'MODULES' array in /etc/rc.conf. You'll also need to specify the ethernet interfaces. Then you can run:
    /etc/rc.d/network start
    and, if this works, you should be able to run pacman.

  • Error: 3816: Local System Creation during install was not successful.

    Hello,
    This is our first time installing Oracle Wokflow 2.6.3 Standalone.

    We get this error:

    Thanks

    Software component sap.com/LM-TOOLS with version 7.00.9.3 is found on the system but in the stack it is listed with version 7.00.9.0.
    Software component sap.com/SAP-JEECOR with version 7.00.9.1 is found on the system but in the stack it is listed with version 7.00.9.0.
    You are trying to upgrade a system with the lower version of sap.com/LM-TOOLS and sap.com/SAP-JEECOR. The other thing I notice is that if you are upgrading to  EhP4/EhP1 NW then the version of LM and SAP-JEECOR should look something like 7.01.3.0.
    Are you using MOPZ to download EhP's ? As the error message says synchronize the system with SAP Solution Manager and then generate a new stack file.
    Hope this helps.

    Bij een fatal error wordt de applicatie abrupt beëindigt en hierdoor worden er geen clean-up routines aan geroepen. als resultaat wordt is het Windows nog in veronderstelling dat de file in gebruik is en voorkomt het verwijderen hiervan.

  • [SOLVED] Error with PKGBUILD for package hash-identifier

    Hi,
    I tried to install the package hash-identifier.
    While running makepkg -s, there is an error:
    ==> ERROR: PKGBUILD contains CRLF characters and cannot be sourced.
    I guess this is due to the New Line character at line 17 of the PKGBUILD:
    sed -e 's|
    ||g' -i Hash_ID_v${pkgver}.py
    So I remove it, but then I get this other error and I don't know what to do with it:
    ==> Extracting sources...
    ==> Starting prepare()...
    sed: -e expression #1, char 0: no previous regular expression
    ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in prepare().
    Aborting...

    Thanks for your reply. I'm not familiar with package build syntax nor python, so I don't understand everything you wrote.
    It would be good if you could explain more clearly though.
    By applying the change you propose, I was able to build the package and install it.
    NB: To run the program, type from the command-line :
    $ hash-id
    ...and not simply "hash-identifier"

  • [SOLVED] Error with Wickr deb package

    Hi people, I was trying to running wickr on Arch Linux. (I am under Gnome), I used debtap utility, attempted to convert wickr deb package to work with pacman but failed with this dependency:
    warning: cannot resolve "libavutil52|libavutil54", a dependency of "wickr"
    :: The following package cannot be upgraded due to unresolvable dependencies:
    error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
    :: wickr: requires libavutil52|libavutil54
    I am pretty sure I have already got the libavutil-52 installed and does not help. I even managed to convert libavutil54 from debian and installed but still no progress.
    Any help? thx in advance.

    Hi sakuya16,
    the | character does not work as logical or inside the PKGBUILD, depends is an array of strings separated by withe spaces. Also you must specify only one version of libavutil and its name is libavutil-52 and not  libavutil52. For more information read the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PKGBUILD#depends
    --edit:
    Yeah, tomk is right, try to see if it works with the current libavutil.so.54 first.

    I am in the process of installing arch and have gotten to the point where I need to install the video drivers. I decided to use the proprietary ATI catalyst drivers. • Error setting permissions for emwebsite during install

    Fisrt I am new to Oracle and this is my first attempt at installing or using an Oracle product. I am installing Oracle 9i standard edition onto a Redhat 7.3 server. At the 88% completion mark the install script fails with the following error (from the log):
    Exception thrown from action: copyExpandedGroup
    Exception Name: SetFilePermissionException
    Exception String: Error in setting permissions of file/directory /home/oracle/Or
    aHome1/bin/emwebsite
    Exception Severity: 2
    1. How severe is an Exception Severity 2? Can I safetly ignore it?
    2. When veiwing the /home/oracle/OraHome1/bin/ directory the file emwebsite(.html?) is not present. I assume that this is why the permissions can't be set. Can I just import the file from another location or from the .jar files and continue?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    I forgot to post my code:
    Context context = new InitialContext();
    Object objref = context.lookup("MyHome");
    TopicHome home = PortableRemoteObject.narrow(objref, MyHome.class);
    // this is where the exception is thrown

  • [SOLVED] Imapd does not start (only during boot process)

    I'm running a courier-imap server.
    A few days ago I noticed I did not receive any mails anymore. Then I found my imapd daemon was not running anymore.
    I then stopped the daemon process together with the xinetd daemon (which lets me connect to my imap server via my local network).
    I restart from a terminal both daemons (imapd an xinetd) and ... everything is up and running ! Note that I have to stop xinetd too because only stopping imapd and restarting doesn't help.
    I reboot my PC ... again no imapd anymore. During the boot process I do not get any error message though ...
    I'm completely puzzled
    The problem started when I upgraded to the linux 3.0.1 kernel ...

    I managed to get the problem solved by removing and re-installing the courier-imap package. Don't know why that solved it though ...

  • Dell mini 10v Issue during install process.

    When I attempt to build the b43 firmware from makepkg, it says "==> ERROR: Cannot fing the strip binary required for object file stripping." Please keep in mind that I am using the install usb because I can't connect to the internet. The fwcutter is installed as well. Thank you for reading.

    The live media unfortunately does not include all of base-devel.  You need the binutils package, which has /usr/bin/strip.  The live media is really meant to be used with internet access, but I see your dilemma here.
    You obviously have internet access on something though, so why not download the package itself (or look in /var/cache/pacman/pkg if you installed base-devel on the on-disk system) and install it into the live media with pacman -U.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - PDF Optimizer fails when selecting overwrite file during save process

    Hello Everyone,
    I am wondering if Acrobat 9 Pro has changed in the way it handles PDF Optimizing functioning when trying to overwrite the file you are attempting to optimize. In Acrobat 8 Professional, it overwrites the file just fine when it gets to the save process. It does work when you modify the name during the save process, however, it would be nice to know if this is "the way it works" or the "program has an issue".
    Thoughts?
    Message received when trying to overwrite the file,
    COnversion Warnings> "An error was encountered while saving the document."
    Logically, it seems as though the application cannot save over an "opened" file thus dumping that message on me.
    Regards. D.

    > When using Save As to save a PDF, is it possible to have Commenting and Analysis enabled for that saved PDF by default?
    No.

  • During install process, it says must reboot to complete uninstall of previous installation. On reboot, the install not continue. If I re-initiate firefox install, same message pops up.

    It shouldn't be necessary to reboot the computer to complete an update.<br />
    If a reboot is needed then that usually means that some (security) software is blocking files or you need elevated (Administrator) permissions.<br />
    Run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as ...: Administrator).

    When I installed the Apple programs, mobile device application did not uninstall by itself. I had to go to c://program files/common files/apple/mobile device application (or something like that) and manually delete the contents and the folders. I have a 64 bit version so I also had to visit c://program files (x86)/common files/apple/mobile application device (or similar) and also manually delete the files and folders. I had to delete the files before I could delete the folders. This manual part is probably tripping everyone up, because it's not as easy as simply hitting uninstall in the control panel. But the instructions are there. I hope this helps you.
