0404 usb @ XP sp2 /w new beta driver pack

cannot select "sample rate" & "sync source" at the EMU control panel, the selection menu is locked.
the only way to change "sample rate" is using foobar SSRC to play sound, it sync the rate automatically. But still no idea about modify the "sync source" from "internal to external.

I just installed the new opengl beta on my audigy2zs and started playing doom 3 again. The difference is amazing. Sound quality is much better and the game runs much more smoothly. Thank you creative.

New beta driver (2.09.0001) and MIDI playb

Since MIDI playback isn?t used by many people nowadays, I don?t have any hope the CL will fix the outstanding issues, but just for the records:
At least for me the driver fixes nothing in regard to MIDI-playback.
- Resolves SoundFont? issues where notes distort and change pitch during playback and recording
This is what the readme says, but in fact absolutely nothing has changed with the beta driver. But most likely I am only hallucinating...
Notes randomly distort and change pitch exactly as before. This seems to happen more often the bigger the soundfont gets. Try for example the great Fluid3. Works fine on an ages old Soundblaster Li've, but shows the above mentioned problems with X-Fi (since Audigy of course you have to hack the registry to load soundfonts that big - something that has been discussed in various CL discussion forums litarally for years...)Message Edited by lontomer on 06-05-2006 0:38 AM

I forgot to mention, that incidentally I swapped motherboard, ram, cpu and graphics card since I purchased my X-Fi last year. This leads me to the (hopefully not too far fetched) assumption, that in this special case it might actually be the soundcard itself that is causing the problems with playing sounds.Message Edited by lontomer on 06-05-2006 0:52 AM

Audigy 2 ZS ; Trying to upgrade to new beta drive

I've been a fan of the Doom series for a long time, so its only natural I buy the expansion, and when something such as these new beta drivers come along, I need it, badly.
I tried installing them, and I get an error saying my Audigy isnt found. My computer is an upgraded HP Pavilion a550e, only updgrades on it are a Nvidia 6800GT and an Antec 430 watt PSU. I've tried the drivers from HP, and they work perfectly fine, but their not the ones I need. Strange that the HP drivers work but the manufacturers drivers don't.
I've tried uninstalling the drivers, nothing. Reformatting, nothing. Moving the soundcard to a different slot, still nothing. I've read other posts on these forums about this problem, but I could not understand any of the possible answers on here at all, I got as far as extracting the .exe, then I hit a wall.
So, if someone could please throw me a bone here, it would be greatly appreciated.

That is because you haven't bought the card from the Creative. You have OEM card (from HP) and OEM (HP) is the one who should provide you with original (as well as updated) drivers. You should bug them, not Creative.

Digital Rights Management in new Audigy2 driver pack. What does this do or not

I'm going to admit my lack of legal expertise in these matters, but how does this affect folks? What areas will this limit us when we upgrade our drivers?

Well, I have a laserdisc project on the back burner, where I was going to capture the AC3 stream through the optical input. I take it, that this will affect me?
If that's the case then a few questions:
) For the new driver pack, is this a compnent that I have an option not to install?
2) SHould I use the prior driver pack?
3) In an earlier thread one solution was to install the older driver pack first and the newer driver pack second. Can a modification of this solution work, picking out the components I want?
4) Which file will prevent me from doing my project? Is it necessary if I were to remove it from the extracted files of the new driver pack

Crackling starts with new beta driv

I have(had) crackling-free system with ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe board and 3.4Ghz CPU... With web update 2 drivers all was ok... But now with BETA drivers I am hear clicking in GTA3: SA... It WAS ok with previous release drivers...
What happening here, at Creative? Could anything with X-Fi be predictable and bugless?..
Why now functionality of my system is broken?.,

I don't know, I haven't had a single crack or pop since the original drivers that came on CD, and the beta works great for me. I'm just a lucky guy

New VIA driver pack

VIA Hyperion 4in1 v4.46, released 10 March 2003 is available... almost, on VIA's web site. Both http and FTP links have shown to be dead or alive this morning, not to mention slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I have no idea what is included in the update, as that link was DOA all morning.

Question about the new beta dri

Yesterday I installed the new beta driver from the download page for my Audigy. When installing it I got an error message telling me to insert my XP CD to restore a file called wdmaud.drv (windows fileprotection in the works). This happened in the end of the driver install and it then rebooted. Is this because I haven't got SP2 installed or something else? Why does it need SP2?
I can't really tell if the sound has improved, stayed the same or gotten worse. Also, what CMSS mode should I run to get the best quality with my 4. speakers when the sound isn't in that format? Before I could only select CMSS I think (never saw the setting) and now I can select CMSS, CMSS2 and Stereo Surround.

Noone? Is it needed to reinstall the drivers after installing SP2 (installed them first without it)?

I got some Problems with my xtreme Gamer:
When I started my PC yesterday everything was fine, but after a while the sound produced some strange failures? ending in just making a horrible high noise.
I tried kinda everything I could think of (Restart, install new Beta Driver (October 7th) but nothing helped either the sound constantly was this Noise or nothing. I couldn't even see that something is playing in the Vista Sound menu. After installing the beta driver I could at least SEE that something should be playing (but only in general, not app-related) but nothing comes out my speakers.
So I tried to went back to try the latest official release (2.8) I had 2.6 before. But the Setup always tell me that I have a never Driver installed and just let me confirm some EULAs and want me to restart without installing anything. After the restart the same...
I tried to remove any Creti've Data from my system: uninstall the device in the Hardware-manager, uninstall the driver software, delete all files that could be related ti creative on any HDD and the registry, used CClenaer and Driver Cleaner Pro...
but it still tells me that i have a newer driver in stalled... (in the Hardware-Manager I got the yellow sign)
So my questions are:

Nvidia Verde 304.79 Beta Driver on GE620dx

I've tried installing the new beta driver from nvidia, the Verde 304.79 Driver. It works fine with TSW and my GPU temps are stable, but the problem is that my integrated graphics seems switching every now and then even if it's idle (power button goes orange then blue every 20 seconds or so). Tried to play SF4 and FPS dropped so low. Anyone here experiencing this too? Thanks .

It's an nVidia driver problem. Neither one of the two new betas do anything but give me a black screen with GTX 680's in SLI. 301.42 works well. Best recommendation would be to report it to nVidia and stay with 301.42 for now.

Well, I tried the new beta driver (SBZ_CD_L13_1_00_20_BETA) - it has to be the worse sounding driver yet. I only have bass in 2.1 mode. In 5.1 I get the front left and right, nothing else. With the driver on the CD the only speaker that would not work in 5.1 was the sub. In surround mode, I get a very tinny left, center & right.
The control panel is still unresponsive unless you uninstall the extras.
Edit: Wow. While I had lost all hope of getting the sound I paid for out of this sound card I found the reason I had no bass out of this driver. Unlike all the previous versions of the driver the speaker configuration utility does not auto-sync with the control panel. Once I went into the speaker configuration utility and set it from headphones to 5.1 every thing worked perfectly for the first time since I purchassed this card four months ago. Cancel my refund!
Edit 2: I guess I spoke too soon. I have no clue what happened however now I am back where I started. No bass and am completely unable to figure out why.

Hi, I have a late 2008 iMac with a new hard drive. How do I install Mountain Lion from my bootable USB flash drive.

How do I install Mountain Lion to a new hard drive without having the recovery partition on it.
I have the USB flash drive with software on it but when I switch my Mac on all I have is a white screen & a flashing question mark.

Did you use LionDiskMaker or DiskMaker X?
Boot the machine with the option key down until you see your bootable USB stick. Select the latter, and reboot.
When the installer boots up, you will first need to choose Utilities and Disk Utility. Select the target HD device name and then the partition tab. Select 1 partition, name it Macintosh HD. Format is Mac OS Extended, and option is GUID. Apply. Exit Disk Utility and return to the installer, which will now show your newly partitioned HD as available for install.
When OS X is installed and all updates applied, press shift+command+U and run disk utility again. Verify/repair permissions and verify the boot disk.

How to install a new hard drive without bootable disc/usb

Hi- my hard drive has totally failed and although I can get into disk utility it won't let me create images and keeps coming up with input/output errors when I try.
I don't have another mac to work from and have no discs whatsoever even for older OS versions
I've ordered a new hard drive(a seagate 750GB 7400rpm one) but how do I get mountain lion on the new hard drive without any discs? If I just put in my new hard drive will it come up with an option? I have a mid 2009 MBP if that helps

Here is how it helps:
You need the Utilities from Recovery_HD. Your broken Mac can boot from a Thumb drive.
Use this article to download this Utility to copy the Recovery_HD from your older, working Mac to a minimum 1GB USB thumb drive:
OS X: About Recovery Disk Assistant
Then boot the new mac with the thumb drive by holding down Alt/Option, wait wait wait while it draws an Icon for each bootable Volume, choose the Recovery_HD, choose proceed arrow, and use Disk Utility to erase the drive and create GUID partition Map, 1 partition, Mac OS X Extended (journaled). Then install Mac OS X by download.

New Extreme: Using USB/FW hub w/FireWire hard drive

I have two laCie external hard drives, one a USB/FireWire and one FireWire only. There are hubs available that have both USB and FireWire ports. If I connect both the USB and the FireWire drives to such a hub, and then connect the hub to the USB port on the new Airport Extreme base station, will my computer be able to read the FireWire drive as well as the USB drive? That is, can I use the hub to link both the USB hard drive and the FireWire hard drive using the USB port on the Extreme? Thanks very much for any thoughts.

I am planning to attach the same two hard drives (Firewire only and USB/Firewire) to an Airport Extreme BS. Lacie was advertising the connectablility of several HDs with Firewire to build a cluster when I bought the "Firewire only" drive 2004. So my suggestion:
1. connect the HDs via Firewire
2. connect the USB/Firewire HD to the Airport Extreme
Unfortunately I cannot test this setup because I will only buy the USB/Firewire HD and the Airport if someone tells me it will work.
Would step 2 cause the same problems as using dscott1000s hub, or do these USB/Firewire drives have a USB-Firewire-bridge?
