100BASE-BX10 SFP

Hi All,
I have several Cisco 3560C setup at multiple stations. The Cisco 3560C are connected in a daisy chain between each other using 100BASE-BX10-D and 100BASE-BX10-U SFP. So, on the first Cisco 3560C (station 1), I have a U-type connecting to the second Cisco 3560C (station 2.). The second Cisco 3560C (station 2) will have a D-type and U-type SFP where the D-type connects to the previous station 1 on its U-type SFP. This setup repeats for station 3 onwards.
It seems that these connections between the stations, I noticed that the Cisco switch registers the link at 100Mb half-duplex and I see incrementing CRCs and collisions. I am not able to hard-code the interface to 100Mb FULL as it seems that the interface configuration does not give me the option to do a 'speed 100' or 'duplex full'.
Is this normal for these kinds of SFP?

Yes scope all connections with a 900 micron 200x scope, and clean anything you can.

If its clean, check the TX/RX power levels with a power meters.  End-to-end; bidirectional test, on both lamdas.
Because of the CWDM going on, I'm not sure I'd trust the internal "show hard" or
"show interfaces interface-id transceiver detail" internaly.
Obviously this is something common/systemic since it happens betwen multiple locations.
Is the fiber the common denominator?

    I have AIR-LAP1522 and I need to connect it via fiber. Documentation says, that on 1522 side I should use
    100BASE-BX10-U module. As I know it is a module for 100-MB ports, 1310 nm TX/1550 nm RX wavelength, 10 km over single-strand SMF.
    My question is, can I use GLC-FE-100LX-RGD (GLC-FE-100LX) instead 100BASE-BX10-U and use pair of SMF?
    I  have single mode FO.
    And second question is, where is a diiference between GLC-FE-100LX-RGD and GLC-FE-100LX?

    The rugged (GLC-FE-100LX-RGD) transceiver should be comaptible as long as you have two strands (duplex fiber).
    I wouldn't advise using the non-rugged transceiver (GLC-FE-100LX) as the difference is the rated operating temparature. It's
    0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F) for the commercial, non-rugged transceivers and -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F) for the industrial (RGD) types. Reference the data sheet.

  • SRW2008 with a 100Base-FX SFP?

    i got a 100Base-FX SFP from my localloop provider and tried to use it in a Linksys SRW2008 switch.
    it seems the SFP ports are fixed to 1000Base. is there a way around this limitation?

    Check  software requirements and configuration requirements in the attached guide.
    I think it gives you your answer (I hope )
    It suggests you need 1.0.3 software and then try the following;
    Manually Configuring the 100M SFP
    STEP 1 On the Port Configuration page, click Detail.
    STEP 2 In the Port Configuration popup window, select eth 100M in the SFP Speed field.
    STEP 3 Save your changes.
    STEP 4 Insert the 100M SFP module.

  • 6509e SUP-2T VSS and 100BASE-X SFP

    Dear All,
    i need to connect via 100BASE-X uplinks some access switches to 6509e VSS distribution Switches having SUP-2T.
    It seems that the only module on 6509e supporting 100BASE-X SFP is WS-X6148-FE-SFP. This module is going EoS and is not supportes in VSS.
    Is there any other modules that i can use?

    Simple question: Is this GLC-FE-100BX-D= 100BASE-BX10-D SFP module for 100-MB ports, 1550 nm TX3/1310 nm RX4 wavelength, 10 km over single-strand SMF  compatible with multimode fiber?

    just if the SFP will work on singlemode and multimode fibers
    If you have multi-mode (MM) fibre link then you need to use MM SFP.
    If you have single-mode (SM) fibre link then you need to use SM SFP.
    You can't use MM SFP on a SM fibre link.

    If you already purchased MGBLH1 SFP 9/125um SMF, up to 40km then
    1.Either check optical power and if it is less than -3dBm then use it (Like -4dBm)
    2. If it is more than -3dBm (-2, -1 etc )then use an 5dBm optical attenuator
    3.If not bought can go for single mode 10Km or 2 Km multimode (MGBLX1 1000BASE-LX SFP transceiver, for single-mode fiber, 1310 nm wavelength, support up to 10 km, MFEFX1 100BASE-FX SFP transceiver, for multimode fiber, 1310 nm wavelength, support up to 2 km)

  • SG200 SFP Compatibility

    We want to connect SG200 to Catalyst 2960X via optical fibre. Now on our SG200 (SG200-50P-K9-EU) switches are using D-Link DEM-311GT SFP modules.
    We found module Cisco GLC-SX-MMD, that is compatible with Catalyst series switches, but there's no info about Small Business series. Someone has tried to run this module on Cisco SB?

    To interconnect a Small Business switch with Cisco Catalyst switch, you need to use Cisco Small Business SFP on the Small Business switches, and Cisco traditional SFP on Catalyst switches. And the SFP on both sides should follow the same IEEE standard. The mapping table is shown below.

  • Issue with 3560g sfp GLC-SX-MM connect to 2924C

    I have a 3560g switch. Have gig sfp interface [GLC-SX-MM=] and want to connect to to WS-2924C-XL f0/24 fasteth fiber port.
    I have a patch panel in the middle.

    can I make this work? The lights do not come up. The port are configured correctly. I can not hard code the speed on the 3560 int sfp.

    Unfortunately, you can't directly connect a 1GE GLC-SX-MM SFP interface to a 100Base-FX interface.  You will need to swap the SFP on the 3560G with a 100Base-FX SFP (GLC-FE-100FX).

    It doesn't appear that the GLC-SX-MM is compatible with the SG500. I quoted the manual below so you can see the compatible SFPs for the two switches.

  • SFP change on Cisco 3750-X 24S

    Hello,
    I have a Cisco 3750-X 24S equipped with GLC-GE-100FX optical module to provide 100Mbps connectivity to workstation. I have to migrate the workstation NIC to 1 Gbps and, after that, I have to replace the 100base-FX SFP with the 1 GB SFP.
    Wich initial configuration on switch port allowm me to replace the SFP without any reconfiguration on the switch port?

    Paolo is correct in that you do not need to change the configuration for the switch to recognize the SFP.
    However some IOS versions and hardware platforms do require you to manually configure the interface speed (even though a fiber SFP only operations at a fixed speed). Check the current port configuration. If it has "speed 100", be sure to change it to "speed 1000".

  • Connecting MT-RJ and LC uplinks using singlemode fiber

    I am looking to Design a network with 3750 as core Switch and 2960 as Edge switch
    Core Switch - 3750 24-FS
    Edge Switch  2960 24 Base T with 2 SFP
    So my question is Can i connect the uplink between core and Edge switch using Single Mode MT-RJ at core end andSingle Mode  LC connector using SFP at Edge end
    reason is  i cannot afford 3750 with 12 SFP  at my core end ,which is quite expensive

    Deva,
    Unfortunately, you cannot directly connect the 3750 24-FX 100BASE-FX ports to the 2960 SFPs over singlemode fiber (SMF).  This is because the 3750 24-FX ports use 50/125- or 62.5/125-micron multimode  fiber-optic (MMF) cabling.
    If the distance between the devices does not exceed 6,562 feet/2 kilometers (100FX reach), then you could install a 100Mbps-FX MMF SFP in the 2960 and use MMF cabling between the devices. 
    Or, if you only have singlemode fiber available between the two devices, you could install Media Converters between the two devices, such as that from Omnitron Systems.
    Example:
    3750 24-FX 100BASE-FX -----> Multimode Fiber -----> media convertor ----->Singlemode Fiber -----> media convertor* ----->Singlemode Fiber -----> 2960 w/100Base SMF SFP.
    * Some media converters can work single-ended, terminating the other end of the link on the switches SFP interface.
    Hybrid fiber optic jumper cables are available with different connectors at each end that allow you to transition between connector types (MR-RJ to LC or other).  However, you cannot have a MMF interface at one end of the flink and a SMF interface at the other end (without a conversion device).

    Will the SFP based GigE ports on the 3750 talk correctly to a PA-FE-FX on a 7200?

    Hi Jason,
    There's no document that states it that way per se. The 802.3ab standard (gig over copper) is the only gigabit standard that allows for 10/100/1000 speeds. So you'll need a specific SFP that can plug into a Gig fiber port but transmit at 100Mbps.

  • GLC-SX-MM in CGS-2520-16S-8PC fe port

    Hi,
    Is GLC-SX-MM supported in CGS-2520-16S-8PC 100BASE-FX SFP ports ? It's not listed in compatibility table, GLC-SX-MM-RDG is listed as supported on gigabit SFP ports only.

    Sorry but a gigabit-only transceiver will not work on 100 Mbps-only SFP ports.
    There's almost always a good reason why something is not listed in the compatibility table.

    Unfortunately, the GLC-SX-MM is not switchable to 100Mb operation. You need to purchase a 100Base-FX SFP module for your switch.
    According to the following document, these are the 100Mb interfaces compatible with the Express 500:
