11g on SLES 10 x86_64 problem
Hi
I'm trying to install Oracle 11g Database (linux.x64_11gR1_database.zip)
on SLES 10 x86_64 SP1 (2.6.16.46-0.12-smp)
And I've got error while linking:
Exception Name: MakefileException
Exception String: Error in invoking target 'ioracle client_sharedlib' of makefile '/opt/oracle/product/11.1/db/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk'.
See '/opt/oracle/oraInventory/logs/installActions2007-12-27_08-34-26PM.log' for details.
Exception Severity: 1
and make.log last lines is:
/opt/oracle/product/11.1/db/lib//libctx11.a: could not read symbols: File format not recognized
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [opt/oracle/product/11.1/db/rdbms/lib/oracle] Error 1
Any ideas to solve it?

Kernel.shmmax on Linux 64 bit (SLES 10 x86_64)
i'm installing 10gR2 on SLES 10 x86_64 bit on a machine with 64 bit xeon processors and i'm a bit confused
about the setting of kernel parameter kernel.shmmax. According to note 373681.1 and other similar notes
of requirements for installations on linux 64 bit it seems that this values can be setted at a maximum of
4gb and i can't understand why. For what i know Oracle tries to allocate SGA on one large shared memory
segment and the parameter kernel.shmmax for what i've understand limits the maximum size of shared memory
segments, with kernel.shmall. So if i set kernel.shmmax to 4 GB i'm not able to set SGA_MAX_SIZE to a value
higher than 4 gb and this is not what i want.
So, why on all notes i've found on the web it is written to set the parameter to a values max of 4 GB????
Regards,
Cristian CudizioOn a 32 bit machine max addressable memory is 2^32-1^ which comes to 2GB considering one parity bit actual usable size for SGA is aroung 1.7-1.8GB. Using VLM/AWE you can increase upto 4gb (which comes to across 3.7GB usable). These are all limits given for 32bit machine which i could come across in metalink but I am not sure where is 4GB limit for 64bit machine specified as i don't have metalink access now. So, I cannot say anything about the doc which haven't seen.

New SAP note: "Linux: SLES 9/10, Problems with libuuid"
<a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1065860">#1065860</a> - Linux: SLES 9/10, Problems with libuuid
You can find a list with more notes related to SAP on Linux in the SDN Wiki: SAPonLinuxNotesthanks for the quick fix. but after we started installing the new client 6.30rev10 on the first user machines, complaints started coming in rather fast ->
it seems that in certain windows that tab-key doesnt work properly anymore. it doesnt jump from entry field to entry field anymore.
example -> transaction fb50 (Enter G/L account document)
in the fields at the top (date, reference currency) the tab works as expected.
but down in the details... it doesnt work at all, the cursor is simply gone. you have to click with the mouse in to each field to enter data.
we started with a clean settings file, tried various preferences settings in the client. no luck.
also it seems that in the preferences of the client "auto select text in insert mode" doesnt work anymore. no matter what is set there, when using the insert mode, the text is not selected.
these problems appear on machines running 10.3.9, but it doesnt matter if the Java Security update from earlier this week is installed or not, the same effect.
hmmm, did i miss some setting somethere to get this working again?
thanks

Do a system 'find' and locate 'em.ear'. What is the full path name to it? At acommand prompt, enter the following:
cd \
dir /s em.earcopy the entire session -- command and results, and paste back here.
Also, does the path to the installation files contain any spaces? Does the path to the installed ORACLE_HOME contain any spaces?
You have my condolences for having to work with Windows. To paraphrase a line from a popular movie . . "My momma always said Windows was like a box of chocolates."

Oracle Forms 11g Installation. Create domain problem
Hi,
I am installing Oracle Forms 11g on Windows 7 32-bit system. Installation is done. Create domain is failing during the configuration process.
I searched everywhere but cudnt find a solution specific to the problem.
Only recognisable error message is 'CSF Entries will not be parsed since the AdminServer is unreachable'.
I have checked Node Manager is not running.

Oracle RAC 11g R1 Release Connection Failover Problem
Hi All,
In our Architecture we are using Oracle RAC 11g R1. Below is the JDBC URL :
JDBCURL = jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Host1-vip)(PORT = 1521))(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Host2-vi
p)(PORT = 1521))(LOAD_BALANCE = ON)(FAILOVER=ON)(CONNECT_DATA =(SERVER = DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME = <Service_name>)))
We are using two node RAC. The problem is whenever we are rebooting a Node and rejoin the cluster, Application Servers are not able to recognize that.
Suppose we have node1 and node2, I will take down node1 (freeze the cluster) and then reboot node1 and bring it back up( and join the cluster). At this point, My application servers are not able to recognize that some new DBserver(node1) had joined the cluster until I restart my application servers.
Please Provide me a solution for this. Thanks alot to everyone in advance.

SOA Suite 11g HA install and EDNDataSource problem
Hi all,
We have installed and configured Oracle SOA Suite 11g (11.1.1.5) cluster per the instructions in the Enterprise Deployment Guide and Anthony Reynold's blog (http://blogs.oracle.com/reynolds/entry/installing_an_11g_soa_cluster). We are encountering constant XA and DBLocker related errors with the EDNDataSource:
<Dec 1, 2011 2:35:29 AM MST> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT 1 FROM DUAL" set up for pool "EDNDataSource" failed with exception: "oracle.jdbc.xa.OracleXAException".>
<Dec 1, 2011 2:35:29 AM MST> <Error> <oracle.soa.mediator.common.listener> <BEA-000000> <DBLocker caught exception while locking messages
java.lang.NullPointerException

at oracle.tip.mediator.common.listener.DBLocker.lockMessages(DBLocker.java:113)
at oracle.tip.mediator.common.listener.DBLocker.run(DBLocker.java:77)

at weblogic.work.j2ee.J2EEWorkManager$WorkWithListener.run(J2EEWorkManager.java:183)
at weblogic.work.DaemonWorkThread.run(DaemonWorkThread.java:30)
These errors occur every couple of seconds on both SOA hosts. Additionally, we see errors on one of the hosts, complaining about EDNDataSource not being clusterable:
<Dec 1, 2011 2:35:29 AM MST> <Error> <Cluster> <BEA-000123> <Conflict start: You tried to bind an object under the name weblogic.transaction.resources.SOA1.EDNDataSource_soa_domain in the JNDI tree. The object from -6284322550635925010S:soa11g-dev-1.domain.com:[8001,8001,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1]:soa11g-dev-1.domain.com,soa11g-dev-2.domain.com:soa_domain:SOA1 is non-clusterable, and you have tried to bind more than once from two or more servers. Such objects can only be deployed from one server.>
We have ensured that the database (we are using a single Oracle 11g database instance, not RAC) has XA support enabled. Beyond this, we haven't found any leads on this forum nor the Oracle support site (we have opened an SR with Oracle). I've seen a couple of other threads related to this issue over the last year (e.g., Re: JTA - XA Rources - Rollbacks reason and What is the purpose of EDNDataSource in SOA 11g? but no resolution was ever posted.
Does anyone have any suggestions of where to being looking to troubleshoot this issue? Any help would be most appreciated!
Thanks,
--GaryHow are you starting the server? Using start script - ./startManagedWebLogic.sh soa_server1? Make sure that classpath is getting set properly.Yes, after using the script to start the admin server.
How do I make sure the classpath is getting set properly? Seems to be the actual problem, but from the logs when the server starts up the command seems correct from what I can see. If I knew which jars contained the classes it needed I could try and look for them in the start command.
11g is not certified on Ubuntu. Please refer below link for certification matrix -I actually wished Oracle could certify the installers for Mac OSX (just for development), but I guess I could try and get things up on Redhat instead. :P
Thanks for the input. -
Forms 10g Builder with 11g Database Release 1 - Connectivity Problems
Hello All,
I am trying to connect 11g Database (Version 11.1.0.7.0 mounted on Linux) from my Oracle Forms 10g Builder 10.1.2.0.2 in my client PC Windodws XP. But its just hanging and doesnt connects at all.
Strange is that from the same Oracle home i am able to connect to same 11g user through the reports builder 10g and
, sqlplusw and sqlplus from 10g home.
But i am not able to connect to 11g R1 database from my Forms Builder alone. Why is this? Can the PROs get me out of this problem please.
Thanks in advance.First, using 10.1.2.0 against 11.x is not recommended. You should at least be using 10.1.2.3 if you plan to work with 11.x. Further, there is a known issue which causes connection, compilation, and some sql execution to run significantly slowly. This issue has been corrected with a patch and new switch. If you have an active Support contact, I would recommend creating a Service Request in order to get the latest information.

Enhancement for clearing the design time errors by providing support for xsi:type is planned for the Shepherd release.
The workaround for the Connection Pool errors is to define using the API.Below sample code can be useful for you.
Create a class which implements SessionEventListener or extend SessionEventAdapter and override the preLogin(SessionEvent event) and define read and write connections in the method.Register the SessionEventListener with session(open the session.xml in JDeveloper flat editor->Options->EventListener->browse and Select the class).
When application is run and preLogin() event will be called and connection pool is defined with read and write connections.
package model;
import org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.SessionEvent;
import org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.SessionEventAdapter;
public class SampleEventListener extends SessionEventAdapter {
public SampleEventListener() {
super();
public void preLogin(SessionEvent event) {
System.out.println("in the pre login method");
org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.server.ServerSession serverSession=(org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.server.ServerSession)event.getSession();
serverSession.addConnectionPool("testReadPool", event.getSession().getDatasourceLogin(), 1, 10);
public void postLogin(SessionEvent event) {
org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.server.ServerSession serverSession=(org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.server.ServerSession)event.getSession();
System.out.println(serverSession.getConnectionPool("testReadPool").getMaxNumberOfConnections());
System.out.println(serverSession.getConnectionPool("testReadPool").getMinNumberOfConnections());
Hope this helps.

Webcenter Tutorial 11g - MyPage.jspx Page Rendering Problem
Hi.
I have just installed the Webcenter framework updates to Jdev 11.1.1.2.0 and started to work with the Webcenter tutorial. I have installed the Webcenter schema, under "webcenter".
I have a problem getting my first page, MyPage.jspx to render the first set of composer components, i.e. nothing seems to display at all on my page, it is completely blank when I try and run the page. ( I have isolated my webcenter tags )
I get the following message in the Jdev log:
<MDSRestrictionPolicy><_updateMDSRef> An error has occurred while finding the page for the component with client ID layoutCustomizable1.
Can someone tell me why my page is coming up blank? Does this have to do with webcenter schema perhaps, or something in my tags.
Thanks.
My JSPX code looks like this:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1"
xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich"
xmlns:pe="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/pageeditor"
xmlns:cust="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/customizable">
<jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"/>
<f:view>
<af:document id="d1">
<af:form id="f1">
<af:panelSplitter orientation="vertical" splitterPosition="236" id="ps1">
<f:facet name="first">
<pe:pageCustomizable id="pageCustomizable1">
<pe:layoutCustomizable id="layoutCustomizable1"
type="twoColumnTop">
<cust:panelCustomizable id="panelCustomizable2"/>
<f:facet name="contentA">
<cust:panelCustomizable id="panelCustomizable3"/>
</f:facet>
<f:facet name="contentB">
<cust:panelCustomizable id="panelCustomizable4"/>
</f:facet>
</pe:layoutCustomizable>
</pe:pageCustomizable>
</f:facet>
<f:facet name="second">
<!-- id="af_one_column_header_stretched_with_splitter" -->
</f:facet>
</af:panelSplitter>
</af:form>
</af:document>
</f:view>
</jsp:root>Hum this has happened to me before. It used to happen when I used the pageCustomizable in a wrong way, like when I placed the panelCustomizable outside pageCustomizable, or when I forgot the Edit Link (or button) to go with the pageCustomizable. Hope this helps!

11g on windows , Oracle Home problem
while installing 11g on windows it asked for oracle home i make and gave the direcotry name like
C:\fs01\app\oracle\product\11.1.0.6\db_1
at the end of installation i noticed it added one product dir by itself and installed
every thing on
C:\fs01\app\oracle\product\product\11.1.0.6\db_1
what's the solution now to fix this ?This could be avoided during installation
I assume that you have the Oracle 10g under product\10.2.0..something like this..
When it prompts the directory during installation you would have select oracle\product as oracle home...I had this a few minutes back...
But just found at the start of the Installation itself ..when is selected the \oracle\product ,it added another product folder under the selected folder which will be \oracle\product\product..
Thats the thing -

[omran97@localhost livepd]$ sudo ./build.sh -v
[sudo] password for omran97:
cp: cannot stat ‘work/x86_64/root-image/usr/lib/syslinux/*.c32’: No such file or directory
What is wrong?Check where it is trying to look for the c32 files. With syslinux v6 we now have syslinux bios and syslinux efi. So there is not /usr/lib/syslinux/{bios,efi}/*.c32.
It is pretty trivial to sed a fix into the build.sh. Though I think if you are using [testing], the sane thing to do would be to use archiso-git as djgera suggested above (he is the developer afterall, so you should probably listen to him).
Edit: The archiso-git package uses an outdated method of grabbing the sources. So I updated the PKGBUILD to take advantage of the pacman 4.1 capabilities. Here is the source tarball.

Oracle Database 11g Release 1Windows (32-bit) problem
hi guys,
i am new to database installation, i successfully installed the (11.1.0.7.0) Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32-bit) in my home pc, though i am not able to figure out the username, password, port number, SID etc. bcoz of this i am not able o use of the db.
Here is my tnsnames.ora file
