12 month but devided into current and previous year

hi guys
i have this requirement to disaply amount for current period and previous period for 12 month.
Current period is the period of user entered year and previous period is previous year
So if user enter feb 2007 u2026Then current year is feb, jan ,dec 2006
And previous period is Nov 2006 to March 2006
user is entering the value 0CALMONTH ...and report to need to display 12 month internval betwen years. my problem is how to check the year and interval
please help me without any custom exit? can it be possible thru varibale?

I think i misunderstood your question previously.
You can create offsets on CALMONTH and achieve this easily.
1)In the columns are of query disigner, create selections for 12 months by using CALMONTH and offset each field by -1 or -2,-3,-4 ..... -12.
2) Create a Text Variable to show the month Value in column header
3) Create a structure in columns area and place it below all the CALMONTH selections
4) Include all your Key Figures inside the structure.

Hi,
If you have any date value example posting date or 0CALMONTH.., you can filter the date using the selection conditions and selectively delete the data.
Process:
Manage of DSO->Contents Tab->Selective (with delete Icon)->Deletion selections->give the period->Execute->Start->Yes->continue.

Parameter for current year and previous year

Hi all,
I currently have 2 reports where the query is the same except in the where clause I have it filtered to current year and previous year based on the List_Date. I would like to make this one report with a parameter of Current or Previous year.
Would I create 2 more datasets one for current and another for previous? I would think there is a easier way. Any help or direction would be great.

If you define a parameter in SSRS, you can use it's value in your query. Just make sure the parameter name, and CASE (SSRS is case sensitive when it comes to parameters) are the same in SSRS and your query. There's a parameter tab on the dataset properties.
It SHOULD auto fill, but it never hurts to check, just in case.

Yes it did auto fill the parameter tab in the dataset and I get a parameter to enter the year when I preview the report. Still a little confused on how I do current or previous year. Are the next steps what I need to do?

Key figure comparision between current year and previous year

Hello collegues,
I have created a WEB Intelligence report with key figure ROI (return on investment which is calculated out of three other key figures (capital, revenue and costs). I would now like to calculate the percentage period (year) differences between key figure ROI - between current year (month) and previous year (month).
Do I have to add coding within a key figure formula within WEBI Rich Tech client or within universe builder.
The key figures were extracted from SAP BW and added to a universe which is basis for WEBI rich tech client report.

Displaying current year and previous year's data.

hi all,
we have fields like doc.no, company code, costcenter, posting date, year etc... in a query.
we are using this query to display data in VC,
how can i display the current year and previous year's data in two different tables using the available fields.
any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi Rk,
You can achieve your requirement using 'Filter' operator. Drag one 'Filter' operator into visual composer story board and drag the output into filter and add condition(Check year=2008) and drag one table from filter. For another table use another filter and change the condition.

BEx - Display current year and previous year by day on the same row

Hello experts, need some help/suggestions on how I can accomplish the following please.
We have a requirement to show MTD revenue by day for the current year and previous year. The desired result will have the following columns
Calendar Day   |     Current MTD Revenue     |     Prev MTD Revenue
11/01/2009       |      15,131,005                    |        15,138,668
11/02/2009         |    15,055,345    |                        15,523,762
However, the result is showing up as follows:
Calendar Day   |     Current MTD Revenue     |     Prev MTD Revenue
11/01/2008       | |                                                   15,138,668
11/02/2008       | |                                                   15,523,762
11/01/2009       |      15,131,005 |
11/02/2009       |      15,055,345 |
The number of rows for Calendar Day varies depending on the date the user selects. We only want to display the days for the current year with the Previous Year Column on the same row.
Can someone please let me know how I can get the results to display on one line for each day?

Create a virtual characteristic in your infoprovider that can calculate the day from calendar Day. In ZXRSRZZZ while adding code for this virtual characteristic use the function module DATE_COMPUTE_DAY to compute the day for every calendar day.
For calculating Sales Current year, create a restricted ky figure with Sales as the key figure. Add 0CalDay to this RKF and create a variable for this infoobject(Eg: ZCURYEAR) that will receive input from the user for the range of dates eg: 08/16/2009 - 08/22/2009.
For Sales Prior year, create another restricted key figure with Sales. Add 0CalDay to this RKF and add a customer exit variable. In the Customer exit code use the ZCURYEAR variable and offset it to prior year in both the upper and lower limits. This should work.

Yes it can be staged in cube but you need to write routine and transformation/update rule level.
If you need for some query requirement then you may achieve the same at query level. For this you need to create some Restricted Key figures by restricting your key figure with Calyear/month as per your need.
Query level approcah will be much easier then the cube level.

Report that display 'Net Pay' by Empl for current and previous period.

We knew about this report, however, it gives information one below the other if we run, say for 2 periods, but what we are looking for is something as shown in example below
Empl #      Empl # Name    Prev Pay period Net Pay        Current Pay period net pay.
123              XYZ                     $ 1200.00                                 $ 1200.00
256              ABC                    $ 2000.00                                $ 3000.00
We want to run for 2 periods at a time and get the results as above. That way, payroll dept can run this report and compare if we are paying too much in current pay, compared to previous pay. This is basically to avoid any typos when they create new pay records in infotype 0008.

My selection criteria looks like this:
not ({HRDEPBEN.PLAN_CODE} startswith ["C", "EAP", "HMIL", "V", "W"]) and
(month({hrdepben.Creation_date}) = month(currentdate)) and
{HRDEPBEN.PLAN_TYPE} = "HL"
I modified it to this in order to pull in previous month's data too:
{HRDEPBEN.PLAN_TYPE} = "HL" and
not ({HRDEPBEN.PLAN_CODE} startswith ["C", "EAP", "HMIL", "V", "W"]) and
(month({hrdepben.Creation_date}) = month(currentdate) or month ({hrdepben.Creation_Date})= month (currentdate)-1)
However, it's still pulls the same record count and only January records, not Decembers'.
Where am I going wrong?

Looks like you're reporting against Lawson? What database are you using?
There are a few issues with the record selection criteria as it's written:
1) Month(CurrentMonth) - 1 = 0 when the current month is January. That's why your not getting any records from December.
2) The monthly criteria won't be passed to the database for processing, which is a huge performance issue when you're reporting against a system like Lawson. You're basically telling the report to bring back all records that don't start with an array of values, irrespective of the date. Only after all the possible records are returned across the network will the extraneous records be filtered out on the client side. That's bad.
3) It's easy to use StartsWith or Like, but it's also pretty inefficient, since it forces a full table scan of the underlying table
Personally, I'd do one of two things in order to both fix the query and optimize it:
1) Write the underlying query in SQL as either a View or SQL Command object
or
2) Keep the current report, but make use of SQL Expression fields in order to optimize the query.
Here are some examples of SQL Expression fields against Oracle (PL/SQL) that could be useful:

You could also create formula to return the Month value for last month and then use it in your record selection:
//{@LASTMONTH}
//This formula returns the Month value for Last Month
//IIF statements can be passed to the database for processing
IIF(Month(CurrentDate) = 1, 12, Month(CurrentDate) - 1)
With expressions and formulas like these in place (this code is Oracle and DB2 compatible, it would be different for T-SQL), you could then modify your record selection criteria to be something simpler, like this:
{HRDEPBEN.PLAN_TYPE} = "HL" and
{%PLANCODES} = 'N' and
{%CREATEDATEMONTH} IN {@LASTMONTH} TO MONTH(CURRENTDATE)// MONTH(CURRENTDATE) is passed to the DB
By laying the groundwork, you'll have a much more efficient report and, in the case of the @LastMonth, more accurate! Hope this helps!
p.s. a disclaimer on using SQL Expressions in this manner - it's not officially supported, although it's worked since Version 7 (when SQL Expressions were introduced) and there will be support for them in various 2011 versions. As such, they'll work for years. I use them all the time and they're fantastic for optimizing reports.

Displaying current and previous 5 Year data in a bar graph

My requirement goes like this .....
I have to show revenue (measure) data based on current year (period dimension) selection (from a dashboard prompt) and previous 5 year data's as well .
i.e. if user selects 2013 , the bar graph will display 6 bars ... 2013,2012,2011,2010,2009,2008.
I am trying to achive this with filter on Year column , on the main report ....*"is based on results of another analysis"*
But haven't made any progress .

Data per month and previous year

Hi all,
I have a requirement that is to show 2 columns, one for the actual data for a month and the other one to show the data for the same month of previous year.
For example:
Month   Profit_Center Actual Previous_Year
08.2010 10000           10.25 12.50
I know that I can create the second column filtering by same month-12, but when i show the Month,the result is:
Month    Profit_Center Actual Previous_Year
08.2009 10000            10.25   0
08.2010 10000             0         12.50
We want to show just one row with the actual month and both columns. How can I do it, without change the backend. I would like to do it in front end (in query designer).

My house has always had macs and my parents don't like pcs. I don't either. They are slow and so far behind from macs. So i am going into high schoo next year and parents don't let me on the computer without asking and have them all password protected. I did have my own ibook g4 but it broke randomly. My mom says i will isolate myself from too much scree time and get depressed but i love macs and i would like to work in an apple store someday but i'm not even allowed to buy my own ipod touch with my own money. But my mom has an new imac, ipad and iphone and ipod and all of this has been gifts to her. But i really need a computer for school. I have written lists of good reasons not like i want it but good ones and asked nicely but my mom just says because and thats the only reason i need to know. and by the way she is a teacher so she thinks technogly is evil. How can i get the mac air??

I really do not want to enter a family discussion about what you should or should not have. If the MBA is to support your school work then you need to present your arguments on that point. If there is a concern about using a Mac when the school supports PCs then point out a Mac can also use Windows on a BootCamp partition so it is fully compatible with both systems.

Current Year and Previous Year (derived) data comparison

Scenario:
Dimension Table for Date:
-Current Year
-Previous Year
-and other date related fields
Fact Table:
-Sales (contains current year sales depending on the filter set)
*Filter on Year
Would anyone know how will I create a measure for Previous Year Sales?
So that whenever my report shows the current year (for example: 2009) data of my sales, I can also have a column that would also display the previous year data and it will automatically know that it would display the previous year data of the Current year displayed in my report.
Also, how to derive the percentage change of this 2 columns.
Year: 2009
Branch --- Current Year Sales (Sales from Fact table) 2009 --- Previous Year Sales 2008???
I want to add the Current Year Sales And Percentage Change of Sales in the Business Model/Mapping Section. so that it would be available in the presentation layer of Oracle Answers.

Use column filters. Click on the fx button on your Sales column. Click on the Filter button. Now go to the Time.Year column you have and click on it. When the filter window comes up, click on Advanced and convert the filter to SQL. Now insert the Current Year column so that you have Time.Year = "Current Year" Click "OK."
Get another Sales column and put it in your workspace. Follow the above procedure except this time use th Previous Year column.
Now you have two Fact columns, one that filters for the Current Year and one that filters for your Previous Year.
Now for your variance, click on one more column and place it in your workspace. Click on the fx button. This time click on the "Column" button. You will see a list of your columns. From this, create the (Current Year)-(Previous Year)/(Previous Year)*100.00. In the Data Format tab, change the format to percentage.
You also have the option of creating the above calculations in the BMM layer too.

Calculationg current and past year for a Analysis report in obiee 11.5

Need some help here.
I am a beginner in OBIEE and need some help to build a report in obiee 11.5 as described below;
I need to create a PnL report such that I show current years profit and loss AND prior year profit and loss figures in a report side by side for comparitive analysis for user.
My data is an essbase database, and have a years dimension with values 'current year' , 'F08', and 'Prior Year'. and other measurs such as revenue, % revenue, gross profit, cost of sales, operating expenses etc. (I am using 107 from oracle downloads) for obiee 11.5
There is another dimesion called time period with members as Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4, and each having respective months (e.g. Jan, Feb, Mar for Q1 etc)
I also have a scenario dimension with members as Actual, plan, Forecast, Wht -if..
Now I need to create a this report.
I created this report based on approch no 1 below;
Appraoch 1
- Create two analysis reports with all the above columns.
- specify filter for year column equal to current year for first report
- specify filter for year column equal to prior year for second report
- create a dashboard with a promt (radio button) based on column scenario
- create two sections placed side by side below the promt and place above two reports in those two sections so that they appear side by side
Nw when I run this dashboard, it works fine, and shows me the current and prior data for actual, plan etc...
BUT....
I need to create the same reports using a single analysis report instead of two separate reports with hardcoded values for year filter.
Now I tried use AGO funtions on but , it requires a column with numerical value so that it can calculate the past year, but in my case year is a column hving text value and hence i cant use it.
I would like to know how to build such a report using any other variable or function or any rpd level modifitions.
If I had a year dimesion with numeric values, then how would I use to calculate the past year once u select current year .?
Let say values are 2012, 2011, 2010 etc. so If I select 2012 as current year, I should get data for 2012, and 2011, if I select 2011, then I should get data for 2011 ,and 2010.
Please help me to build logic either at analysis level or at repository level

Hi,
As per I understand your requirement,
In Pivot table, place 'Year' in pivot columns instead of rows.
Create an SQL filter on Year and put the condition as:
*"Year" BETWEEN @{Presentation_Variable} - 1 AND @{Presentation_Variable}*
You will get the result for selected year and the previous year.
