2008R2 cluster - Outlook 2010 - RemoteApps - No sound

Currently running a 2008 R2 cluster, and users are complaining about no sound via Outlook 2010 when using remoteapps.
Sure enough if you use the full remote desktop client, sound is not an issue.
IE, and other apps have no issues with sound via the remote apps option.
Outlook 2010 does not have the new message pop ups or calendar reminder sounds when used in a remote app.
Any ideas?

Hi,
You can check the following steps:
Enable the Outlook 2010 email notification setting in the RD Session Host:
1. Click the Office button in the upper-left corner.
2. Click
Options on the left side.
3. Click
Mail.
4. In the Message arrival area is a setting for When new messages arrive. Check or uncheck the
Play a sound box.
To change Outlook 2010 email notification sound in a Windows server 2008 R2 Operation System and client PC, click the Start Menu –> Control
Panel–> Sound
Navigate to
Sounds tab and in the Program list box, select New Mail Notification. Using the Sounds drop down change the sound for New Mail Notification. If the sound is not listed in Sounds drop down then you can locate the required .wav
file using the Browse button. After selecting the sound, click OK button to confirm the changes.
Make sure Outlook 2010 RemoteApp sound redirection has been enable with “Play on this computer” .

  • Is it possible to configure Outlook 2010 as the Default Mail client if it is presented to the Desktop via RemoteApp?

I am a user of RemoteApps. I connect to a Website that presents me with various applications, include Outlook 2010. however, I use other programs that I need to send mail from that are in within the RemoteApp workspace. Is it possible to configure windows
7 to map a call to RemoteApp/Outlook2010 to send mail as a default mail client? or Perhaps a way to get OWA to map as a default mail client handler?
I am using Windows 7 SP1 - Updated to latest service releases, Outlook 2010 from RemoteApps, and IE 11.
    Thank you in advance!

  • Outlook 2010 sounds and Dual Monitor Mode

Every time I hook up a monitor (analog connector) to my laptop (lacks a digital monitor port), I lose system sounds only in Outlook 2010.  I'm running Vista 64-bit.  Other applications make system sounds, like Internet Explorer and Windows Media plays media just fine, but not Outlook 2010 (I had 2003 before, and didn't have a problem - it's only when I updated to 2010 that I ran into the problem).  There is one time the sounds will play - right before I receive in my system tray a notification that there are 'critical updates' to be made to my system.
I tried turning off the monitor, but leaving it connected.  Still no sound.  It cannot be connected to my laptop for the sound rules to work in Outlook 2010.
I've gone to the Microsoft site and checked out all their recommendations.  They don't have anything that comes close to addressing this (that I found).  I figure that it is probably on the Outlook 2010 side, but am hitting a wall there.  Figured I'd try here, where the hardware sits to fish for others' experiences.
    Thanks

... ...,it started experiencing a perpetual Send/Receive mode and when this started, only outgoing emails have been possible.
So your Outlook will send out but not receive? Have you checked your email on the web based access?
Are you able to see any unread messages there? If you can, then it is most likely a setting in Outlook, or possibly a port is blocked on your network. Try to check if your incoming settings are correct in Outlook, you might want to contact your ISP
    for the info.

  • IPhone 4S Outlook 2010 shared Calendar problem

    Hello all,
There problem to see in Outlook 2010 shared calendar in iPhone 4S. In iPhone 4S there is seen owner calendar of added Exchange Server account, but I need to see other one person shared calendar which is impossible to see. I see in iPhone 4S two calendars as added, but when I open calendar I see entries only for one account.
Where is problem and how to solve it?
    Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Girts

I had the same problem where I could open a shared calendar in OWA but it would not work in Outlook 2010. When I clicked on the shared folder I got the error message 'outlook cannot open this folder'. The problem ended up being that the person
whose calendar was being shared was hidden on the exchange server ('hide from exchange address lists' had been selected). To resolve the issue we had to unhide the user, update the OAB on the server and then update the OAB on the desktop. We could then share
the calendar, accept the share and then hide the user again.
Sounds like I have the same issue too.  Where do I go to do all the resolve part?  Where do I unhide the user?  I am guessing OAB means offline address book.
    Thanks

  • I cannot make my Outlook 2010 calendar/tasks/contacts sync with the calendar on my iPhone 5, I cannot make my Outlook 2010 calendar sync with the calendar on my iPhone 5

I have wasted so many hours trying to make this work and researching Apple support.  Nothing works so I am hoping to get an answer here.
First of all, here is what I am using:
    Windows 7 32 bit
    Outlook 2010
    iPhone 5 and iPad 3
    iOS 7.0.2 on both devices
I have downloaded the iCloud app for my Windows computer and checked that it sync my contacts, calendar, and tasks.  I have enabled iCloud on my phone for contacts, calendars and tasks.  I have not been able to get anything to sync.  My iCloud calendar appears in Outlook but everything is grayed out.  I see the iCloud reminders under my tasks tab but there is nothing listed.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iCloud on my Windows computer.  I have turned off the calendars, tasks, and contacts sync under iCloud on my phone and turned them back on - nothing.  I have restarted my computer and iPhone - nothing.  Same results with my iPad - nothing.
Additionally, I have gmail as my personal email; also am forced to use Good for Enterprise for my work email.
I am at my wits end.  I finally ended up syncing today with the USB cable via iTunes but the whole point behind iCloud is to be able to sync wirelessly.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello there janis143,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like after the recent iOS update, your Outlook content is no longer syncing properly to your phone.
    I found this article named:

  • I use a Win7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my calendar and contacts. I can enter data in my Outlook Calendar and it will appear in iCloud, but data entered in iCloud does not sync back to Outlook.  ICloud syncs to my iphone fine both ways.

I use Win 7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my Contacts and Calendar.  They have stopped syncing...mostly.
Now, appointments I enter on my local Outlook (iCloud) Calendar goes up to iCloud fine.  But, data I enter on iCloud directly does not come down to my local Outlook iCloud Calendar.  If I reboot the computer, the iCloud data shows up.
Also, Contacts I try to enter on my Outlook (iCloud) Contacts goes up to iCloud fine, but does not show up in my local iCloud Contacts.
All syncing works with my iPhone.
I have signed out of iCloud on PC.  I have stopped syncing and re-started.  No change.
I have an .aplzod folder for iCloud.  I have a separate Earthlink.net.pst email account in Outlook and a me.com.pst Outlook email account (which I don't actually use) listed under Data Files.
Any help would be appreciated.  Curious that Outlook will upload to iCloud but not receive downloads unless I reboot.  However, rebooting does not download the missing Contacts.
    Jim Robbins

    Hi Jim!
You've started off with some good troubleshooting steps, so let's see if we can take this a little further and figure out what the issue is with your iCloud contacts and calendars. I have two articles here that will help you troubleshoot this issue a little further, but the troubleshooting steps for both articles are exactly the same, so I will lay those out for you here:
Note: When using iCloud Control Panel 2.0 and later, iCloud Calendar event descriptions in Outlook 2010 do not support text formatting (bold, italics, or underline), HTML, images, or attachments. The contextual (right-click) menu has also been disabled.
If you are having trouble with a PC (with Outlook 2007 or 2010) and iCloud Calendar, try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved:
Verify that you are using a Windows configuration that is supported by iCloud. For more information, see iCloud system requirements.
When enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel, part of the setup process is to copy your Calendars data from the default Outlook ".pst" file to iCloud, and then remove the Calendars from the ".pst" file by placing them in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. The Calendars data is then stored in the iCloud data set within Outlook so that changes can be pushed to and from Outlook by iCloud. Be sure you are looking for your data within the iCloud dataset within Outlook after enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel. The deleted files can be seen by viewing Deleted Items within your Outlook Folder List. This is not iCloud removing your data; iCloud simply copies your data into the iCloud data set and then removes the local Calendars data by placing it in the Deleted Items folder.
Make sure your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com and iCloud.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in Outlook. Click here for more information about troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if you are online as is necessary for iCloud Calendar. This also tests if the ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Outlook requires port 443 access to iCloud in order to push and pull updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
Verify that your iCloud member name is entered into the iCloud Control Panel pane. See iCloud Setup for more information about setting up iCloud on Windows.
Completely close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
If you recently made changes in Outlook and they are not moving to your other devices or vice-versa, click the Refresh button in Outlook.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Close Outlook.
    Open the Windows Control Panel:
In Windows 8, move the pointer to the upper-right corner of the screen to show the Charms bar, click the Search charm, and then click the iCloud Control Panel on the left.
In Windows 7 and Vista, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Remove the checkmark in the checkbox next to Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks, and click Apply. Wait a few seconds, then replace the checkmark, and click Apply.
Open Outlook and test to see if the issue has been resolved.
Ensure the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active within Outlook.
    Outlook 2010:
    Open Outlook 2010.
    Click the File menu.
Click Options in the left panel of the Outlook window.
Click Add-Ins in the left panel of the Outlook Options window.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For Outlook 2007, follow these steps to verify the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active
    Open Outlook 2007.
From the Tools menu, choose Trust Center.
Select Add-ins from the left column.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For additional information about managing Add-ins with Microsoft Outlook, see this Microsoft support document.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

  • All my appointments in Outlook 2010 have disappeared.

They're on my iPhone 5 and iPad 4 but won't even sync to Outlook - I have everything on iCloud.  Started out of the blue about 5 weeks ago, mid-March 2014. With the contiuous little problems and now this MUCH BIGGER problem (for which there is no apparent fix) I'm seriously thinking of moving to a different tablet, different phone.  I miss Steve Jobs.

None of the steps of troubleshooting said anything about updating ios. You can see them under heading about "on the windows pc".
    Here are step by step.
If you're having trouble with iCloud Calendar on a PC (with Outlook 2007 or later), try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved.
Note: iCloud Control Panel does not support Outlook 2010 Personal Edition. When using iCloud Control Panel 2.0 and later, iCloud Calendar event descriptions in Outlook 2010 do not support text formatting (bold, italics, or underline), HTML, images, or attachments. The contextual menu (right-click) has also been disabled.
Verify that you are using a Windows configuration supported by iCloud.
Make sure that your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in Outlook. Learn about troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Outlook requires port 443 access to iCloud to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
Verify that your iCloud member name is entered into the iCloud Control Panel window. Learn about setting up iCloud on Windows.
Close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
Make sure that iCloud is not your default account in Outlook:
In Outlook 2013 and 2010, select File > Info > Account Settings > Data Files. If iCloud is listed as the default account in the Comments column, select a different account and click Set as Default.
In Outlook 2007, select File > Data File Management > Data Files. If iCloud is listed as the default account in the Comments column, select a different account and click Set as Default.
If you recently made changes in Outlook and they are not updating on your other devices or vice versa, click the Refresh button in Outlook.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Close Outlook.
    Open the iCloud Control Panel:
In Windows 8.1, go to the Start screen, click the down arrow   in the lower-left corner, then click the iCloud app.
In Windows 8, go to the Start screen, then click the iCloud tile.
In Windows 7, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Deselect the checkbox next to Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks, and click Apply. Wait a few seconds, then replace the checkmark and click Apply.
Open Outlook and test to see if the issue has been resolved.
Make sure that the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active within Outlook. (Learn more about managing Add-ins with Microsoft Outlook.)
    Outlook 2013 and 2010:
    Open Outlook 2013 or 2010.
    Click the File menu.
Click Options in the left panel of the Outlook window.
Click Add-Ins in the left panel of the Outlook Options window.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
    Outlook 2007:
    Open Outlook 2007.
From the Tools menu, choose Trust Center.
Select Add-ins from the left column.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
Note: When enabling Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks in the iCloud Control Panel, part of the setup process is to copy your Calendars data from the default Outlook .pst file to iCloud, then remove the Calendars from the .pst file by placing them in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. • Outlook 2010 - sending mail with attachment - "The system cannot find the file specified"

    Hi forum Fellows,
I have the following failure scenario:
    1. A user receives an e-mail with an attachment.
    2. The user opens the attachment --> Forwards the mail and writes something in the body of the e-mail
    3. For whatever reason the user leaves the e-mail and works on something else --> the user comes back to the e-mail an hour or more later.
    4. The user then wants to send the e-mail but gets the following error message: "The system cannot find the file specified"
    5. The effect is that the user cannot send the e-mail.....
    ------------------------------ TROUBLESHOOTING -----------------------
    - I can see that when the user opens an attachment this attachment is saved in the OutlookTemp folder. Actually, there is a difference between opening the attachment before or after clicking forward on the e-mail.
---- Before: Two files is written to the OutlookTemp folder. For example if the attachment name is FileX.pdf - there will be a FileX.pdf but also a FileX (2).pdf in the folder (if OutlookTemp is empty/do not contain a file with the name FileX.pdf already)
---- After: Only one file is written to OutlookTemp. That is FileX.pdf
    - Running Process Monitor when trying to forward the e-mail I can see that Outlook is calling a file that is not in the OutlookTemp folder anymore.
**** To me this is the heart of the issue. For some reason, when a user has an e-mail with an attachment open for an extended period of time (not sure on exactly how long is necessary), files in the OutlookTemp folder is deleted - files that Outlook is depending
    on to be there.
    - Going with a totally clean OutlookTemp folder does not help.
    ------------------ NOW WHAT ---------------
    - The question now is: Is this by design? Can it be fixed by some Outlook 2010 patch? Or perhaps a group policy/registry setting as a workaround.

    Hello Red Baron,
Although not a complete answer, the way to treat attachments in emails require some discipline:
    1. Never open an attachment directly from the email (and NEVER edit it from there). Always save it in a known location as the desktop or (better) in a designated document folder. Then you can proceed as usual, like editing the contents, printing, forwarding
    the new version etc.
    2. Directly forwarding the attachment is ok, along with additional text in the body of the email.
    3. Having any (unsaved) document open for several hours should
never occur. What if there is a power outage?
Bottom line is thus Discipline. This is regardless of Operating System (which might handle temporary files differently).
These are the rules I teach my customers and they never leave any document unsaved for hours ...
    Best regards George

  • Can you get DelegateSentItemsStyle to work in Outlook 2010?

I am testing Outlook 2010 for our organization, and we use shared mailboxes extensively.
As you might know, there has always been an issue that if you added a second mailbox to a particular exchange server account, and you sent messages using the identity of that second mailbox, the sent items would still end up in your primary mailbox.  Luckily a patch finally came out for 2003 and 2007, so that if you set a registry value, DelegateSentItemsStyle, to 1, the sent items will be deposited into the correct mailbox based on the From address of the message.
So now I'm using 2010, and put the same registry entry in the HKCU\SW\MS\Office\14.0\Outlook\Preferences key, but when I send a message, they now go back into my own sent items folder... I've taken a step back.
Now I see references to this working correctly if you use the new 2010 feature to open up multiple mailboxes as separate accounts (I haven't tested this, but sounds nice!!), but a user that gets an existing profile upgraded will still have the additional mailbox added the old way!  Was this functionality removed??
    Joel

I have the same problem and unfortunately your solution doesn't work. I installed the hotfix on a x64 Windows 7 PC that has Outlook 14.0.5128.5000 (32Bit) installed. Installation runs without any problems. Restarted the machine afterwards but sent items are
still not moved to the sent items folder of the connected mailbox.
I can move items manually to the sent items folder with no problems.
My customer wants to sent as another user but should not have the permission to delete items from inbox or sent items. I spent many hours on this and couldn't find any solution.
    I tried two approaches.
    Giving the permissions on Exchange
Granting FullAcces with Add-MailboxPermission and then removing the right to delete with Add-MailboxPermission ... -AccessRights DeleteItem -deny. Then opening the postbox as an additional postbox
This does not work because the DeleteItem permission with the -deny flag does not take precedence over the FullAccess permission
    Giving Permissions in Outlook
    Granted AccessRights as mentioned in
this article. But then I have the problem that sent items are not moved to the sent items folder of the connected postbox.
Are there any others approaches? We don't want to use third party solutions...

  • How to Get Outlook 2010 RDA or OWA as the Default Mail handler for Windows 7

I use remote desktop apps which is my primary method of using Outlook 2010. however I use many applications in Windows 7 that I need to be able to send email from. Logic tells me the Default Mail application MIME needs to be mapped. However I do not show
RemoteApps listed in the list of Programs available to connect to as MIME.
Is there a way to fix this?

  • Outlook 2010 Mail Tips Could Not Be Retrieved / Out Of Office Doesn't work too.

    Hi,
We have a small set up with 5 pc's and 1 server. All of the workstations are exactly the same.. specs,OS,software etc...
One of the users is currently experiencing "Mail Tips Could Not Be Retrieved" issue.
It shows up right above the SEND button when replying or sending a new e-mail.
Also Out Of Office / Automatic Replies function does not want to work as well. It asks me to try again later cause the server is not responding.
The funny thing is that this is happening only to a single user.
    Here is what I've tried:
    - Tested E-Mail AutoConfiguration - Autodiscovery works fine and points to the right directory.
    - Deleted the profile and recreated it ... didn't work
    -  Added the same mailbox to another computer - IT WORKED
    - Checked all the SSL settings for each virtual folder in IIS and they are all set to IGNORE the certificate.
The other strange thing is that when I try to download the OAB from the affected PC a credential window pops up and asks for the username/password
of the particular mailbox.. Once I enter them the "Mail Tips could not be retrieved" message disappears and Out Of Office is accessible and ready to be used.
Maybe Outlook 2010 setting or registry value ?

This sounds like an authentication issue for the Autodiscover/EWS URLs and your last paragraph basically confirmed it.
Is this PC domain joined and is this user logging on with his domain credentials and not locally to the computer?
Is the user able to access:
    https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    or
    https://domain.com/autodicover/autodiscover.xml
An xml-page should be returned with ErrorCode 600 Invalid Request.
Is there a TMG or UAG server involved here?
Also check the proxy settings in Internet Options (if configured/required).

  • Outlook 2010, Windows 7, 32 bit can't launch adobe reader

I have a client with the following problem:
In windows, double click of a PDF shows... Adobe Reader X (this is a good thing)
In outlook 2010, double click of a PDF "goes to that dark place" -- actually Windows Media Player.  Which is useless.  There is no setting I can find to change this.  Reinstalling Adobe did not fix this.  Many of the similar problems I've seen are specific to 64 bit -- this one is on 32 bit.
How can I get Outlook 2010 to launch Adobe when a pdf is double-clicked on a 32 bit windows 7 computer?
(Norton 360 is the antivirus, so it's not a McAffee issue).

Hi guys, thanks for your responses.
What is this vboxnetflt for? Which modules are the essential modules for virtualbox? What I mean is: do those nice features like mouse point integration, full screen supportment etc... rely on vboxnetflt and vboxnetadp?
What I have in my configuration file is:
    MOD_AUTOLOAD="yes"
    #MOD_BLACKLIST=() #deprecated
    MODULES=(vboxdrv vboxnetflt vboxnetadp)
I think vboxnetadp is used for networkiing. and vboxnetflt sounds like network filtering stuff. Can someone please confirm me? I think the problem was the sequence of upgrading. Firstly it updated the kernel and then installed the new version of virtualbox. I think if it could install the new version of virtualbox first and then the kernel, it would go without any problem, just my opinion as I said.
Let's keep tracked on this. Maybe someone will find a solution before virtualbox developers :-)

  • Can't Attach PDF Document to Outlook 2010 X64

    I am using Adobe Reader 9.4.1 on a Windows 7 Ultimate X64 with Office 2010 Pro X64.
My  Outlook 2010 is already set as the default email client (and works  perfectly when attaching files to email using the "sent to email  recipient" with all other software installed on my machine).
When  I try to attach a PDF document to an email, within the Adobe Reader, I  first get a Windows 7 generated message saying I need to set default  email client (although I already did it) and after I press ok, I get an  Adobe Reader error message simply saying the there was an error with  attaching the document.
I read in this forum that as of  August 2010 the Adobe Reader doesn't support 64 bit (Windows 7 &  Office 2010) which sounds as false. I think that it can't be so...
I have to mention that I had the exact same problem with a different software (Nuance OmniPage Professional 17) and after searching Google for it I found a solution in editing the software's ini files and it solved the issue. Obviously I don't know how to find this solution by myself (I am not a PC programmer or something like that) but I have a good feeling that there should be some sort of a solution like that to the problem on hand.
    Please help....

So you have business contacts that were lost... do you not have these on a Database in some shape or form? Sounds like you need to invest in a RAID1 backup setup for your computer so you dont have this issue in the future.
As for repairing your problem, sounds like you are going to need to start from scratch at this point or if the data is still on your phone look into a program that can take the information from the phone onto iTunes.

  • In Outlook 2010/MS Exchange, can't search shared contacts

Have had MS Outlook 2010 for quite some time, and I really like it. However, since I got a new computer, I'm not able to search the contacts of my 2 bosses. Since my one boss has over 1700 contacts, I really need the ability to search his contacts back!
What happens is even if I am in Jon's contacts, it jumps to my contacts to do the search
From Outlook 2010 - File - Open - Other User's Folder - I do press enter when i've typed in the person/company i'm looking for.
Help desk guys have told me it is a compatability issue with Outlook 2010 - which sounds stupid to me since I had no problem till i got a new computer

    Hi,
I have done a test on my lab machine and the search result was pretty good.
Please make sure the Outlook version is up to date. Try switching the Outlook to Online Mode and check if the issue persists.
You can also try rebuilding the Outlook Profiles and run Outlook in Safe Mode by:
    1. On the Start menu, click Run.
    2. Input "Outlook.exe /safe" (without the quotation marks) and click OK.
Note: There is a space between Outlook and the forward slash (/).
    3. Please check if the issue persist.
    Thanks,
    Simon
