3120 classic won't sync - "Data transfer not possi...

The phone is Three-branded (UK), software version 07.16 and no software updates are available. I'm using PC Suite 7.0.7.0.
I am connecting my phone with Bluetooth - I don't have a data cable. The phone is new so has no data on it.
Whatever I select to sync (from MS Outlook), the phone says "Data transfer not possible" and I get a "PC Sync information" error. I've tried selecting unidirectional data transfer to the phone, as someone suggested this in another thread, but it makes no difference.
I also tried using OpenSync under Linux and the phone displayed the same error. (I did a factory reset after using OpenSync in case it confused the phone.)
Any ideas, please?

Hey there,
I had exactly the same problem and I just worked around it by giving my sync a username and password.
That is, in Settings->Sync and Backup->Server Sync->PC Sync I set a username and password. I then entered this information in PC Suite under Advanced Settings->Sync Profile
Hope this works for you, I understand your frustration.

  • 5310 "Data transfer not possible" calendar sync is...

I'm trying to get my Nokia 5310 to synchronise its calendar with my work's Outlook 2003, using PC Suite 7.1.26.1.  At work they use Windows XP and Outlook 2003 SP2.  I don't want to bring my USB cable into work, so I'm using bluetooth to connect.  The connection itself works fine - I can browse the 5310's media content, calendar and contacts using my computer.
The problem is with synchronising calendar with Outlook.  It just won't do it.  Every time, I get a "Data transfer not possible.  Check data connection" message on the phone and a "PC Sync was unable to locate your Outlook message store" error in the PC Suite sync log.
    Things I have tried:
    Repair PC Suite.
Install new settings (spanner star button) and go through the wizard again.
As 2, but with manually selecting the Outlook folders on my profile (which were, in any case, already preselected correctly).
Copying a new profile and trying to sync with that.
Putting in (the same) username/password in PC Suite and the phone's "sync and backup" option.
None of these works.  My work computer will happily sync with Google calendars, but won't sync with my phone.
I've had a good look through the forums but can't seem to find any solutions that work for me.  Does anyone have any ideas of how I can get this to work?

Try one more thing. This worked for me.
    1. Remove ALL email profiles.  -
    2. Recreate profile - don't forget to write down your Email exchanger server address. This will force Microsoft outlook to startup as if your  a new user but will load your existing email from the server.
    3. Setup PC Sync -- again
    - this has been a pain in the neck!! - something gets corrupted in the profile that PC Sync does not like.

  • 6300: Unable to sync contacts: "Data transfer not ...

    Hello,
I'm unable to syncronize contacts between my new Nokia 6300 and a computer.
    What works:
    * Pairing the device
    * File copy to/from phone via Bluetooth / USB.
    * Manually adding new entries using the handset keypad.
    What doesn't work:
    * Synchronising contact details between the 6300 and the Windows
    Address Book.
    - Fails when using Bluetooth, Mini-USB cable.
    - Fails on two different machines; one Lenovo R60e Thinkpad,
one self-built desktop /w a USB Belkin Bluetooth adapator.
I've been trying to work around this problem for a few days now and

    Troubleshooting attempts
    ========================
    * As mentioned, attempted running the PC Suite software on two
    different hosts - no change.
    * As mentioned, attempted using both Bluetooth and USB
    connections - no change.
    * Attempted a "Reset to Factory Settings" on the
    handset - no change.
    * Attempted erasing both the Windows Address Book contents, so
that both data sources were empty - no change.

with my NOKIA 6233 I have exactly the same problem. I have not been able to spend much time on searching solutions, yet. I did, however, install the firmware update - this did not solve the problem unfortunately.
    Hi misternik,
From looking on Nokia's support site and elsewhere, I already appear to be running the latest firmware revision available for this handset.
However, further Googling indicates that there are two different engineering codes that can be used to reset a phone:
*#7780# - Normal reset. (Replace all configuration files with default entries.)
*#7370# - Performs a deep reset. (Reformat main memory and restore from firmware.)
I'm not sure which mode the standard menu entry triggers; I might have a go running a deep reset to see if that clears the fault.
In several contributions to this forum (but for other phones) I read something about a PC-suite mode on the phone. I do not have this mode. When I connect the USB cable I can only choose between DEFAULT, PRINTING and DATA STORAGE. Should there be a PC Suite mode ? Maybe this is related to the problem ?
The 6300 handset presents a menu when first connected via a USB cable, and offers those options - "Nokia mode", "Printing mode", "Storage mode", or similar.
Nokia mode appears to provide all of the Nokia-specific facilities, such as PC Suite synchronisation, so I don't think that's the problem.
    Cheers,
    David

  • 6301 & PC Suite - "Data transfer not possible. Che...

Well, as the title says really.
    Upgraded from 6280 -> 6301.
I use Outlook 2003 and sync contacts & calendar.
Sync'd the 6280 before finalising upgrade, plugged in the 6301 with a mini-usb cable (All driver reports it installed new hardware fine) once it had fully come into service and it wouldn't sync.
The phone displays "Data transfer not possible. Check connection" and Nokia PC Sync shows the warning "The mobile phone as not responded". It's solution is "Please ensure your phone is in the standby mode, then restart the Synchronisation. "
Have updated to latest version of PC Suite 6.85.
A bit annoying, as I no longer have any contacts info on the new phone...
Running XP, AMD 3ghz, 4gb ram.

Having spent many hours on this I have now got it working...
    This is how :
    1. On the phone go to : Settings: Sync and Backup: Server Sync: PC Syncronisation and enter a username and password.
    2. Select Synchronise in Nokia PC Suite, in the Connected to 6301 window click the spanner (settings) icon. Now click the Adjustable wrench (Advanced) Icon and go to the sync profile tab and enter the same username and password that you used on the phone. Click OK twice and sync away...

When I try to use (open, update, modify etc.) the “contacts list” in PC suite version 7.0.7, I always have the following error: “Data transfer not possible. Check data connection”. Instead the SMS list works fine. My phone is Nokia 6267.
    Anyone has a solution?
    Best Regards

    Hi everyone,
I had the same problem for months with many PC Suite versions & both XP service packs until I tried a phone setting just for testing and everything worked out fine In my phone (3110c) under Settings / Connectivity / Data Transfer / PC Sync, I filled in a random User name & Password and voila!!! All contacts copied just fine!!! I hope this works with other models with the same menu as well. It looks that it's not a PC Suite problem after all (at least for me that is).
    Hope I helped you guys

160gb ipod classic won't sync since update to 11.2.2, system wants to wipeout all current info on device

same has happened to me,  on and off,   for the last 6 months.   Its an issue with the Mavericks system and ipod classics.    works great for a while -  then one day for no reason - erases the entire iPod.   some days the copmputer will not recognize the iPod and you have to start over.  Apple will tell you that "you" may have a disc problem in the device.  that is all the help I have received.

  • IPod Classic won't sync to PC

My iPod Classic won't sync with iTunes on  my PC. An error message is received stating that there is not enough memory available to sync, but I have 101 GB free on the iPod. I'm using iTunes Version 10.6.3.25 on a PC with the Vista operating system. The iPod operating system is 2.0.1 PC.

It sounds like your PC may be too low on memory (RAM) or Hard Drive in for the iPod to sync properly with iTunes.  Try rebooting your PC to see if that helps.  Then run only iTunes and try to resync your iPod.

  • Data Transfer Not Up-To-Date  and To Be Archived at Project definition ?

    Hi All,
I want to know about the statuses "Data Transfer Not Up-To-Date and To Be Archived at Project definition level?" In documentation Flagged for Transfer  and  To Assign are only mentioned.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Arti.

    Hello Arti,
the system sets this status when there is a problem with the replication. For example, in the customizing of your project type (accounting area) you have defined the type of transfer as 'Automatic as of release of project'.
Now, for example, you have a project that has status 'Created - Transferred - Data Transfer Not Up-To-Date - Assigned', this means that the replication is not yet complete because according to the customizing setting you need to release the project first.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,
    Silvia

The end result is that the music will sync but photos will not sync.  I am running current versions of software on the iPod and the iMac / iTunes.  HELP! J

First try to resolve #2 by:
    See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause
iTunes for Windows: Device Sync Tests
    - Try on another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem
If you can resolve #1 and still get same message for #1 then you have to restore the iPod like the message says.

  • Trying to move iPod classic to new PC, won't sync or transfer purchases

I've already transferred the library from the old PC to the new PC, deauthorized the old PC and authorized the new PC. My son's ipod classic shows up in iTunes on the new pc, but when I click on either SYNC or TRANSFER PURCHASES, nothing happens. No alarms, no questions, nothing.
Any ideas? Need to get this done before he heads back to school next week.

If, as I think is the case, all your tunes are on your ipod not on your new laptop then you need to copy them from ipod->laptop.
Google 'itunes computer copy' for example, to find a program to do it. Other words might work 'ipod computer copy'?

  • 160gb classic won't sync after adding a new album to the library..'sync' lettering in devices is not highlighted

All was fine until i bought two new albums and tried to sync them today. They appear along with artwork in the library but the 'sync' lettering in 'devices' isn't highlighted and syncing simply does not take place.
I had to re-install Norton anti-virus software today but otherwise cannot think of any possible explanation for the lack of response.
Ipod is close to being full but i think i have enough space left...i can't delete any albums now anyway..except from the library.
    I have re-installed i-tunes.
    Help gratefully welcomed

Ok I've got some additional info. If I reload the offending videos into itunes as Movies rather than TV shows then the'll load onto my iPod. Anyone know why my iPod would let me load it with a movie but not let me load it after the exact same video is changes to a tv show? Someone has GOT to know something. Please people please!

  • IPod won't sync and iTunes not accepting authorisation

    Hi
bit of a complicated story (to me anyway).  My computer recently crashed and had to be completely restored, when I got it back and reloaded iTunes (itunes 11) all of my music was still there in the cloud, excellent.  I bought two albums last night from the iTunes Store and they won't sync with my iPod classic.  When I plug it in iTunes recognises it, it connects then ejects without syncing.  When I tried transferring my purchases I get a message to say iTunes is not authorised to play certain songs (not the songs I have just bought) and I need to authorise my computer.  Then a box comes up with an apple ID I have never seen before pretty filled.  I deleted that andout my details in but then I get a message to say my computer is already registered.  I'm on my 4th out of 5 computers so I don't want to start deauthorising and deauthorising unless that's the right thing to do.
Tried resetting etc but doesn't have any effect.  Any ideas?
    THanks

Took the tick out of manually manage itunes and all is well.

  • Ipod classic won't sync with iTunes 10.4

My ipod classic 160 does not want to sync with the latest iTunes update(s).  The same thing happened with the last update about a month ago.  How do I fix this?  The last time I put the ipod in disc mode and that seemed to work.  But it isn't working this time.  Any suggestions?  Anyone know why this keeps happening?
    Thanks.

    Hi Pharmer
I had the same problem and finally found out it was the Spotlight in Lion that was causing the issue of the sync failing as its trying to do two things at once. At least thats what it has been for me.
By going to System Prefs > Spotlight > Privacy and adding the iPod to the list I was able to stop Spotlight indexing the iPod every time I attached it to my machine and thus stopping it from being able to sync.
You can check if its doing it by attaching your ipod then clicking on the spotlight in the top right. If its indexing it will tell you.
    Hope this helps you out
Update: This worked to get my iPod full of stuff. Next time I tried, it won't sync, so back to square one...
