32bit-swiftfox problem

Hello,
I've installed 32bit version of swiftfox from AUR (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … s=0&SeB=nd). Thanks to that I can use 32bit versions of flash and Sun's java plugin.
I've got problem with 32-bit version of GTK2. Whenever I open "Open File", "Save file" or similar dialog, there are squares instead of letters. When I open gtk-demo (64-bit version), fonts are set correctly.

Well, if you're going to use the 32-bit Firefox, then I'd just use it instead of having a separate 64-bit version. Having to switch browsers for different sites (Java/Flash) may work for you, but I really wanted a single solution - hence why I made the 32-bit packages. All you have to do is link the 'libflashplayer.so' file in the '/opt/mozilla/lib/plugins' directory like so:
$ ls -l /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 36 2008-02-21 09:59 libflashplayer.so -> /opt/lib32/usr/lib/libflashplayer.so

As you can see, I also have the link to the java plugin there as well. That gives me access to everything I want to visit on the web...
You mentioned the 32-bit JDK package. I use it as my plugin for the browser and also as my normal Java platform. I really just use Java WebStart most of the time, and the 64-bit JDK doesn't include it at all. I haven't had any problems using it with OpenOffice - and I think I even had Eclipse set up at one point, but I didn't have to code in Java after all and haven't had Eclipse on my system for a few months now... anyway, I think that the 32-bit JDK would work well enough for you (and actually runs faster because of the optimizations for "runtime" capabilities that Sun has done on the 32-bit version(s) only).

Okay thanks for the reply, it sounds good. So in order to use that java package(32bit JDK) should I just remove the 64bit jre I have now or is it possible to have the two? Im only going to be needing swiftwfox when I need a certain site for uni which needs the java plugin and im going to use the 64bit firefox for flash and normal use. Its just that i've been through the blackdown(didn't even install properly I think), gcc-gcj which installed but failed to load the java sites.

Photoshop CC Camera RAW and 32bit files problem

The new Camera RAW from Photoshop CC has problem with 32bit EXR,HDR files when camera calibration is set to 2012 mode. Very bright tones like specular highlights are flattened and there is no possibility to bring them back. Old modes (2010, 2003) are working fine.

Hi Teresa, you may have worked this out already? but i just downloaded Photoshop CC and I too used the recovery and fill light buttons and couldnt see them in the raw processing window... HOWEVER!! i did some research and they are available!! YAY, you can toggle between the latest and the older layout... and the recovery and fill optoins ARE there... the link explains it... but when you open some raw files... on the right you should see a little camera - camera calibration button when you click on there the first drop down PROCESS - change to 2012 mode and then click back to the BASIC processing wheel and they will be there... cheers Danni

32bit color "problems"

Hi,
Today i decided to start to see what the other two color depths gave me instead of always using 8bit like before. So 16bit literally just seemed to give more colors, and disabled some of photoshops filters and such like, then i came to 32bit (barin ging mind i had done no research into these before hand), and made a piece of artwork using a 32bit canvas. After researching 32bit imagery i found out that it aprantly is more sutited for photographs than artwork, but with these problems i don't see how it is.
The UI changes in ares like the color picker and at the bottom of the image you have a slider which can change exposure for some reason instead of using a menu. Only annoying thing about that was after i fiddled with it, Ctrl+z does not set it back tow here it was before, so the image is stuck edited. The color picker was....interesting. I'm not sure why there is an "intensity" slider there which when chnaged seems to act somwhat like using an overlay layer, seeing as the blend option "overlay" is one of many blend options that are disabled in 32bit mode.
All of that aside, as i found most of it interesting and a "new" set of tools for drawing and painting, there did seem to be some actual problems that would undoubtably mess up a photograph if it was edited in 32bit mode. The main one was color distortion. there was banding between each shade of color for no aprant reason. Can someone expalin as to why this is and if there is a way to stop it.

The other problem was to do with what the final image would have to look like. The image can really only be viewed properly in Photoshop (and others like bridge perhaps, but my point being no standard image viewer for the everyday person). I saved out the image as a TIFF first of all, as i knew that is compatible with most applications. However, the file either doesn't open, or open like this:

The pixel aspect ratio is wrong (vertically streched), and the color has gone all weird, which i suspect is to do with the whole "32bit being floating point numbers to make color", and im guessing for other applications it has to make it back to either 16bit or 8bit to preview.
Then the problem comes out when you then think "ok, fine i'll make you 8bit to make you fully compatible", and the image loses loads of colour information: (32bit top, 8bit bottom)

Ok thanks for the help. I have been trying to find more information on the subject and have been looking into it now. So, for final imagery really its only a choice between 8bit and 16bit yes? I have yet to figure out why 32bit exists if everything it does we can't even tell the difference with and monitors can't view all of its colors anyway. HDR images; aren't they images that are made up from groups of images taken at different shutter speeds and grouped together some how to make a final outcome with combining them artisticaly?

From reading i think this is the point to having 32bit imagery ,please correct me if i am wrong because i should be learning this stuff anyway:
32bit uses floating point numbers so effectivly an infinate amount of color space can be used / seen, so when a photograph is taken as 32bit or edited as 32bit, black is never really black and white is never really white because it can pick out even the slightest change in color values to accuratly represent all colors properly, giving extreme detail in images.
If the above is true, i have a question to go with it; can camera take photos at 32bit HDR? Or is this just an editing method that combines many photos somhow?

Windows Server 2003 (sp2 - 32bit) - OEM problem

I inherited this in-house (closed) system a few years ago and have not had a problem until a couple of months ago. It has been running for about 1 1/2 years.
Desc:   Oracle 11.1.0.6 (64bit) on Windows Server 2003 (sp2 - 32 bit)   [[ yes, I know, what the heck is a 64 bit Oracle running on a 32 bit windows?]]
     2 - instances running - one production with associated ASM, one RMAN cat with no ASM - all folders are backed up to a large SANS.
          - each instance has its own listener
          - each instance has its own dbconsole service
Problem:
1. a couple of months ago, when I attempted to access the production OEM, I started seeing
service-specific error 1 (0x1), NET HELPMSG 3547
     -- the first time this happened, I immediately opened the OEM for rman and it was successful
          It was also fortunate in that we were doing some power upgrades and all of our systems were shutdown - and after this system was powered on, the production OEM worked fine.
     -- a few weeks later, the prod OEM was not accessible - giving the same 3547 error. We were not able to shut down, so I stopped the Windows services for this instance, and stopped
               the windows listener services for both instances. I then started only the production windows services, and was able to use the prod OEM. Then I started the listener service for
               the rman and all was well.
     -- this Monday (today is Thurs), the prod OEM was inaccessible again and I tried the stopping and restarting of the services and started seeing 7024 errors. I tested the rman OEM and
          it was fine. I stopped both instances via sqlplus commands, used emctl to stop both dbconsoles (of course, the prod one was already not running), shut down the ASM instance and
          then stopped all the Windows services. then I only brought up the prod services and confirmed with sqlplus commands that everything was started - but the final service, dbconsole
          would not start. This morning I was able to reboot the server (after shutting down all the Oracle services) and now I can access the prod and the rman OEMs.
2. What the heck?   Because I can get the prod OEM working with just a reboot, I don't know if I should have to rebuild dbconsole.   And since I'm the only one disuncombullated because
          of the prod OEM, it is not a fall-down-crying situation - I'm actually a sqlplus kinda guy, but when I'm just doing visual maintenance, it is nice to view OEM remotely for a quick check.
3. I've been working with Linux systems and Oracle for many years and I've never experienced this kind of problem.   Oh, and since it is a closed system, it will be when pigs sprout wings
               and start flyng that I'll be allowed to install patches - but again, if a reboot 'fixes' this issue, what the heck? Oh, finally, I don't believe in the common windows fix of rebooting - I'd
               like to find out WHY this is happening and literally fix it.

You'd better double check that. It is fundamentally impossible for 64-bit software to run on a 32-bit OS.

One single listener, with the default name of LISTENER, using the default port of 1521, is quite capable of -- indeed, was designed to -- service multiple instances of multiple versions running from multiple homes.
          - each instance has its own dbconsole service

Adobe CS6 32bit Extension error when trying to browse in bridge.

There are times I have to use the 32bit version of CS6, because the plugin being used can't be used in the 64bit version. But the last two days, this error started up out of the blue.
This is the error popup I get, verbatim "Could Not Complete the Browse In Bridge command because Photoshop was unable to find the Javascript plug-in"
This error doesn't happen with the 64Bit version, nor does it happen in CS5 64 or 32bit, and not in CC 32bit (downloaded the trial to test to see if it was a 32bit compatbility problem) and none of these cough up this error.
I haven't copied or deleted any parts of Adobe or any files in any of the program directories.

Extension Manager CS6 no longer supports Bridge and this problem occurs in Photoshop. Please seek help in http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop.

I don't know why I get this warning when I open my Bridge CS3.
Plus I tried to uninstall and reinstall, it didn't make a difference.
I tried to install it in the 64 Bit program files(not the program filesx86)
and it installs it back to program files x86, wich is 32bit.
Problem 2: I don't know how to attach an image in the thread, but my Preview window in Bridge CS3 is messed up, as if the *interactive sector*
of the preview image where you can click and zoom on any picture, was moved 1/3 on the right out of my computer screen. ( If I could upload an image it would be easier to understand ) Is there a way to put all the settings of BRIDE CS3 to Default by deleting backup files or something ?
Problem 3: In Bridge CS3 I cannot open CAMERA RAW by pressing ctrl+r, bridge doesn't react to my command, but it does for any other commande so it's not a keyboard problem because I can use the ctrl+c and v to copy in paste in photoshop. The only way to open Camera Raw is to double click on a RAW image, but what if I want to open a JPEG ? I searched for a `open` key in CAMERA RAW but I didn't see how I could open an image when Camera Raw was active.
I posted in Photoshop since it seems as an overall problem with Adobe Photoshop and other programs.

Adobe says to ignore problem 1. System has hard time identifying processors, but it will not affect performance.
Problem 2. Most of the problems with preview and slideshow function is with the video card. Have updated drivers and if that does not work go to advanced preferences and check "use software rendering".
Problem 3. If you right click on image and select "open in camera raw" does that work? If you double click an image it should open it in the native format, whether it is in RAW, Jpeg, tiff, etc.. Don't know why Ctrl + r does not work, in fact until now I never knew that was an option to open an image in camera RAW, I always right clicked.
Not sure what you are getting at with "open JPEG with RAW active".

Probleming Installing Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack 1 to Vista 64bit OS

Hi There,
Whenever I attempt to install SP1 to Crystal Reports 2008 I am unable to get past the disk space check. It just continues to display the message below.
"please wait while the installer finishes determining your disk space".
I found this to be an issue on the 64bit OS only because I can install to Vista 32bit no problem.

Hi Mark,
Try with this:
Run a command prompt as administrator. From the start menu, select "All Programs", then "Accessories" and right-click on the "Command Prompt" shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator". From here you can use the following command to disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP) with the following command:
bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff
Keeping your command prompt open, run your setup or other process being stopped by DEP. Then, to turn it back on again, do the same and run the following:
bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOn
Now try to install Crystal reports.

Satellite P200D - Problem with ATI Driver (atikmdag)

My System:
P200D-111 HD 2600, AMD Turion 64X2, Vista Home Premium 32bit
The Problem:
Blank screen, computer is shutting down from it self, or the Comment from Vista: Driver atikmdag caused a Problem and would restore.
Every time the Computer shuts down from it self, Vista gives me the answer that atikmdag caused the Problem.
Yesterday I've tried to Benchmark the System but at the End of the Program the Display flares and Computer is shutting down.
My Question:
Is a newer Driver for the HD 2600 in work or has anybody the straight tip for me?

No, I've tried to Test the System with the new version of 3D Mark 06 but at the End of the Test procedure the display flared and computer has crashed.
Problem is also with Medal of Honor or Battlefield 1942. Computer crashed and Vista gives me the comment that atikmdag had caused the Problem

PC60G WLAN card + Vista problem

I've installed latest driver for vista 32bit, the problem is .. when the computer goes in sleep mode ... and wake up ... it just doesnt recognize the card .. like there is no wireless card, i have to restart the computer, i called microsoft and they told me its a driver issue, so anything helpful ?

Well i'm using the same card under vista .. and the MSI utility isnt working for me either... but my advice .. vista's utility is better .. no need to use msi's one ... and if you want to disable it .. as i know .. in the installing CD .. when you install the driver you have 2 options to choose.... Performance .. or WiFi (as i remember) choose performance.

Flash Problems on Arch64 - Searched Everywhere

I followed the guide, did everything it said for nspluginwrapper and nspluginwrapper-flash. Anyone have any ideas? This is really annoying. Sometimes it works for a few seconds to a minute or 2, then just goes blank (the flash portion).

And then I found that flash still worked until just recently when I was messing around to get the java web plugin to work on a 32bit swiftfox with lib32jdk from aur. It sounds unrelated but then flash only started working on 32bit swiftfox and not the 64bit firefox. So now i've uninstalled all the lib32jdk, 32bit swiftweasel and all the nspluginwrapper stuff before trying with java(gcc-gcj + java-gcj-compat) and nspluginwrapper again or gnash-cvs

Flash Tearing | flashplugin, arch64

Right, so I have one problem with flash and that is that videos tear when there are things that move quickly.
I am currently using Firefox to watch flash videos, I have installed the flashplugin package from the main repositories.
I am using a 8800GT, I have enabled both XVideo and OpenGL sync to VBlank so that's not an issue.
I was wondering if there is a parameter I need to set somewhere to enable VBlank syncing for flash.

Hmm i used the -ubuntu version and had a similar error when installing:

And then I found that flash still worked until just recently when I was messing around to get the java web plugin to work on a 32bit swiftfox with lib32jdk from aur. It sounds unrelated but then flash only started working on 32bit swiftfox and not the 64bit firefox. So now i've uninstalled all the lib32jdk, 32bit swiftweasel and all the nspluginwrapper stuff before trying with java(gcc-gcj + java-gcj-compat) and nspluginwrapper again or gnash-cvs

Frequent lock ups of my P7N Diamond

Here are my system specs:
Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 @2.50Ghz
P7N Diamond
Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX
Creative X-fi Xtreme Audio(came with board)
Hyundai Electronics Zion DDR2 800Mhz 2GB(1GBx2sticks)
Corsair CMPSU-620HX PSU (620W)
Segate Barracuda 500GB hard drive
Windows Vista 32bit
The problem is My computer restarts anywhere from 5min to 2 hours while playing a game and sometimes even while just browsing the internet and watchin videos.I ran
memtest and sticks are perfectly fine.I have the latest video drivers(185.20) and other necessary drivers are also installed.Disabled all unnecessary items in BIOS on the motherboard
like spread spectrum,eist etc and since i came to know from other threads about the video corruption issue,i updated the bios to 1.2B1 still the problem persists.the system is completely unpredictable as it simply locksup with the audio goin into an infinite loop with the video still.I hav everything running at stock speeds includin CPU,NB,DRAM all set to auto.
My memory timings are 5-5-5-18 with command rate 2T at 1.8V.CPU,system and GPU temperatures are normal.Please help me as i am not able to hav a stable system.Suggest any remedies for this issue.

ok i will up the CPU and NB voltages as u specified and lets hope its the end of this problem and i hav disabled the spread spectrum in the bios before only..

Unable to create a new sheet in the excel

Hi,
We are using BO Dashboards 4.1 SP2 with MS Office 2013 32bit. Problem is we are not able to add extra sheets to the work book. The option to insert additional sheet is greyed out. Is there a solution??

Which support pack are you currently working SP1 or SP2? Also, you need to check if the installed version is 32 bit.
