3rd Party (Omega) DAQ w/Labview VIs?

I'm using Omega's DAQP208H pcmcia card
(12bit 100MHz) and I'd like to use Labview's
DAQ VIs. is this possible?
the VIs provided with the board are relatively..
lets say.. "advanced" and not as straightforward
as the NI VIs that i've come to know and love.
or would it just be easier to get an NI board instead
of modifying all of my NI VIs?
[email protected]

Hi,
I have developed using both Omega and NI hardware.
If you have the opertunity, just buy NI boards.
If you where developing in an environment devloped by Omega, I would recomend the oposite.

  • Are there any 3rd party LabVIEW and/or TestStand code analysis tools

I am looking for any 3rd party tools to analyze LabVIEW and/or TestStand code. Looking for tools that will check for memory leaks, timing, and any other code performance problems. I know LabVIEW has the profiler tool, but I am looking for 3rd party tools.

    Hi wbolton,
I am personally not aware of any 3rd party tools that do the same thing as the Profiler, but I can say that if you'd like to analyze a .VI or .seq file, the most straightforward way to do so would be with the appropriate National Instruments software.

  • How do I manage 3rd party add ons and source control

Some developers friends of mine just got burned because a 3rd party add on to LabVIEW they use in thier code was not in the Software repository. They needed to go back and rebuild a previous version, but it was not immedietely obvious which version of the add on belonged to which version of the source code.
The 3rd party helped make this worse by being perfectly happy to change the pin outs on the API VIs in between revisions.
So they could not simply select a non buggy version of the add on and a non buggy version of the source and compile.
In some cases we have put 3rd party add ons in the source directory so they become part of the SVN project. My friends had them where they where installed, which was under the vi.lib folder.
This does not always work. For example the Internet Toolkit's FTP code has so many layers that it can be a challenge to get them all moved over. If you want to have the ability to overwrite local files when doing a get, you need to make a small change about 5 layers down in the VIs. We basically have to do this for every developer machine that has LV 8.5 on it. (LV 2010 fixed this. It was the first thing we checked.)
So I am wondering what other LV professionals do to manage revision control of 3rd party add ons.
    Thanks!

I generally created a ZIP file of the entire third party tool and all of its pieces. Generally they are well enough behaved that everything is at least under a single folder in the file system. I then check this file into source code control. Another optio would be to use JKI's Package Manager. You could create your own local packages of the third party tool and use VIPM to manage those packages. I generally don't put any of NI's toolkits in source code control.

  • Does anyone know of good resources on using Labview with Omega DAQ (3000 series)?

I'm fairly familiar with the labview environment and have used NI DAQ devices with ease as it's all set up through the help assistant in Labview. I am now utilizing an Omega DAQ system and have some troubles with understanding the VIs supplied with the system. Any resources on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Darshwings,
Unfortunately we do not have support for 3rd party drivers and I was unable to find any resources on our end for learning how to program with Omega's functions. Typically, instrument drivers come with some examples when installed. I would check the location of these drivers and see if there are any examples. Otherwise you may want to contact Omega for any documentation that is available.

  • Which 3rd party server should I use to host my labview VI from my PC

I have developed a Labview application, that I want to host from my PC. So that I can access it from other PC thorough internet.
Now It can be accessed from the connect "remote panel"  option in OPERATE tab.
But I cant give a labview to my client so I want to access it through  browser.
Using web publish tool I can access it on LAN through web browser.
But now I want to host that HTML page on internet.
so can you folks please help with the third party server suggestion that can host remote panel.
    Thank you.

If you are wanting to display your front panels the answer is easy: There are no 3rd party servers that can display a dynamic LV front panel. What you will have to do is a conventional Web application where your LV code sends data to the web user interface using HTTP client calls to "Get" and "Post" methods.
The client-side will be orchestrated through JavaScript and some sort of messaging scheme you work out.

  • No SDO Communication Using CAN over EtherCAT (CoE) with 3rd Party Slave

    Dear all
We are trying to establish an EtherCAT communication between a cRIO 9024 as EtherCAT master with a 3rd party frequency comverter (bmaxx 4432) as EtherCAT slave. CanOPEN over EtherCAT is industry standard.
The slave device has a CAN in Automation (CiA) configuration 402, i.e. motion and drives. Thus it has a well configured address range, input/output parameters and the like. The frequency converter remains in INIT mode and waits for a PDO definition, sent via an SDO communication.
In LabView, adding an EtherCAT master in the cRIO system works fine. Adding targets and devices on the configured EtherCAT master also works fine after we imported an XML description of our third party EtherCAT slave. LabView detects the slave type and the version correctly. Thus, there must already be a rudimentary EtherCAT communication working between LabView and our 3rd party slave.
The problem is that we cannot establish a first SDO communication.
Every description I found was about using CANopen on a CAN bus hardware (e.g. NI 9861) plugged into the cRIO. Descriptions concerning EtherCAT are usually concerning an NI cRIO 9144 extension as slave, which is not what we have.
The NI CANopen library seems to definitely require the NI 9861.
    Is this correct?
    1)
Either it should be possible to define a kind of virtual CAN port based on the EtherCAT port, on which we can write to and read from with the NI CANopen library. This would be the preferred solution so we can use the CANopen VIs.
Is there a way to do this?
    2)
Otherwise, there should be a possibility to establish a more basic SDO/PDO communication directly based on the EtherCAT interface.
Are there any NMT/SDO/PDO VIs available to do the programming?
Is there a manual document which would describe how to start the first communication setup via EtherCAT (CoE)?
My sincere thanks for any advice you can give.
    Many cheers
     Markus

    Dear all,
I'm trying to establish a connection between a cRIO9068 and a BM 3300 via CoE.
I already had a hard time establishing a normal EtherCAT-connection.
Finally I could set the Scan engine to active, and I was able to get from "ini" and  "pre operational" into "Safe operational" and "operational".
As I can see, you had similar problems as I do.
When I add my cRIO to my project (with the EterCAT-master)  I can look for the slave device, and add it to my project.
Within this slave device, I can add two mods, as seen in the attachment.
These slots should include all the parameters, the drive provides, but actually I only end up with some "position mode" -parameters, I think those are the SDO's.
If I add these to a VI, the cRIO scan engine switches to configuration mode, but can't switch back to active mode.
Actually, the Baumüller slave device should be able to provide multiple parameters for read and write.
I can see them, wehn I go to "online device state" in the rightklick menu of the slave device (Parameter.png), but there's no way I can actually use them.
I can't add these "slots" on every computer.
On some computers it's possible, on some it isn't.
Thanks for any advice, you can give.
    Yours sincerely
    Karl

  • Communicating Quanser DAQs via Labview RealTime

    Hello,
I am using a data acquisition card made by quanser (Q8-USB) in my robotic application and I have the following questions:
1- Is it possible to read/write this DAQ in labview? I know that there is a special add-on for quanser DAQs, but I have not bought it.
2- Is it possible to communicate with a USB devise in RT-Target ?
    thanks

    Alini,
I checked our third-party intstrument driver site and did not see anything listed for the Quanser device.
    http://www.ni.com/downloads/instrument-drivers/
You may want to contact the original distributor of the device to validate the claim that it can interface with LabVIEW. Theoretically, you should be able to. However, the first step would be to verify if the device appears in Measurement and Automation Explorer.
The following links may help address your questions regarding communication with the device in real-time.

  • Apple appt. tomorrow.. What do I do if they try to void my AppleCare bc of 3rd-party upgrades?

So I'm a bit nervous.. Recently I started experiencing some really weird problems with the display on my Late 2011 MacBook Pro (8,2) .. I have a 3-year AppleCare warranty that I purchased when I got the MacBook Pro, which still provides me coverage for another 6 months or so..
I've got an appt. at the Apple Store tomorrow, since I've already went through the whole troubleshooting process on the phone with one of the Geniuses.. and did pretty much every troubleshooting step I could find on the internet.. The problem I'm experiencing seems to be VERY common among the 2011 MacBook Pro's.. Here's an article addressing that very issue (widespread GPU failures due to improper soldering):
    http://appleinsider.com/articles/14/05/13/apple-remains-mum-as-complaints-mount- over-2011-macbook-pro-gpu-failures
It appears that this issue is something that was caused on the manufacturer's end entirely..
As far as the upgrades I did aftermarket:
    -upgraded to 16gb RAM
    -replaced factory harddrive with SSD
-removed SuperDrive and replaced with OWC Data Doubler + 2nd SSD
I'm fairly tech-savvy and have been building desktops for over 10 years now.. I know all the proper precautions to take when uncovering the insides of a computer and how to properly install/change out components..
According to OWC (a trusted Mac resource), there's a law in the US that states that:
"This consumer protection is owed to the little known Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. Put simply, the act states that a company can’t require you to upgrade with only its own branded parts to retain the warranty. This important act protects your rights as a consumer and allows you to install OWC upgrades with peace of mind confidence.
However, the warranty doesn’t cover any damage incurred while installing upgrades. That’s why OWC’s free, step-by-step “how-to” DIY videos are extremely easy to follow for even advanced upgrades. See for yourself how easy it is at macsales.com/installvideos. If, however, after watching our videos, you’re still not comfortable performing one or more upgrades, OWC offers Turnkey Upgrade Programs for many Mac models, or you can opt to hire a professional."
    *Link here*:
    http://blog.macsales.com/18244-owc-diys-wont-void-your-macs-warranty
I'm a little bit nervous because I know my rights, I know what I'm doing when it comes to computer hardware maintenance/replacement, and I have a 3-year AppleCare plan that is still valid.. but I have a feeling that they're going to try to get slimy with me and say that my upgrades voided the warranty, or that my negligence caused this problem (which would be BS).. There's also tons of documentation online about people who are experiencing the *EXACT* same problem, with images that match what I'm experiencing, for a huge number of 2011 MacBook Pro users..
I really, really don't feel like having to open up my machine again and uninstall all of my upgrades (memory RAM, SSD, and Data Doubler + SSD) to make it "appear" that I didn't do anything and that the computer's insides are still "untouched" by me.. Even to this extent, I feel that it would be hard for them not to realize that the original components were removed and replaced by 3rd party components (and then re-replaced again before my visit)..
I'd really just like to leave everything in there and have them replace the faulty logic board (which seems to be the solution on the internet).. but I'd like to anticipate any potential questions or conflicts or answers that I should have prepared for tomorrow, if they try to weasel their way out of covering this manufacturer defect by saying that my warranty is "voided"..
Has anyone been in this situation where they had a known, manufacturer's defect problem arise, where still covered under AppleCare protection, but had done 3rd party upgrades to things like the RAM/HDD?
The nearest Apple Store is 1hr45min away from me! (*****) so I'd really like to have my game-plan set ahead of time with what kind of reaction I should be getting when I go in there bc of a manufacturer's defect, but then they see that I've done 3rd party upgrades? (which should be okay w/that law in place.. *see OWC link I posted*)
Can anybody help me out with what to expect or how I should approach everything tomorrow?
    Thanks!!
    <Edited by Host>

We are not lawyers. We cannot even tell you what might happen tomorrow. But, if Apple refuses to provide support because you have violated the legal status of the warranty, then you have little recourse but to call an attorney.
You cannot rely on anything you were told by OWC or believe you were told or believe you know. Needless to say no one on these forums can give you reliable information on what Apple will do nor advise you on what to do.

  • Using a 3rd party router for Multicast

    Hi all,
There’s a lot of feedback on this board about using third party routers with Multicast, so we’ve decided to put this information all in the one place for you.
NOTE: the workarounds below haven’t been tested by BT as we do not support 3rd party routers and we do not endorse any of them. Our recommended router remains the Home Hub.
With the above statement in mind, we know that a lot of you do choose to use other routers.  The information contained here has come from fellow customers who have given their time to share this information in good faith. Thanks to all of the forum members who have helped make this information available to our community it is a great example of the wealth of information that a community can provide and we hope this encourages users to come back and visit us in the future.
A special mention goes to walkerx who has posted and prompted a lot of the provided information.

    Netgear R6300
Netgear R6300, but with the Home Hub 3.0 and 500Mbit Powerline adapters in the picture.
    Modem -> HH3 -> R6300 -> Powerline -> 2 x Youview Boxes on other Powerlines.
To do this, configure the Home Hub 3.0 as 192.168.1.1, then disable its wireless and DHCP. Make sure that NAT and UPNP were enabled, and then set it to use the address 192.168.1.254 as a DMZ server.
Then configure the R6300 as the address 192.168.0.1, using the WAN IP address of 192.168.1.254, with 192.168.1.1 as the gateway and DNS server. The R6300 is then connected via WAN port to the HH3 Gigabit port.
In the R6300 settings switch on IGMP.
The above settings allow both YouView boxes to use on demand content and different streaming channels simultaneously, as well as giving the full features of the R6300 such as AC1750 wireless, network printing, and DLNA

For an end user connected via Openreach GEA (FTTC and FTTH)
    • The Residential Gateway will support:
    – IPoE for multicast traffic and PPPoE for BB traffic;

    – Fork IGMP requests up multicast and BB paths.
For an end user connected to an MSAN (WBC copper)
    • The Residential Gateway will support:

    – Accept TV Connect multicast traffic on ATM VP/VC 0/35 with IPoE and broadband traffic on ATM VP/VC 0/38 with PPPoE;
    – Fork IGMP requests up multicast and broadband paths.

  • Any links i open from 3rd party applications do not open in firefox.

To be more precise, when i click a link, Firefox does open however it does not visit the URL. It simply opens a new session. I have started Firefox in safe mode and the problem occurs, i have reset firefox to default preferences and the problem still persists. I can see no problems in the setting of Firefox itself and have already tried all the fixes available.
    I am using Firefox 29.0.1 on Fedora 20 64x

As i stated, when i click links from 3rd party applications, such as skype; a youtube link or something similar. Firefox opens a new session however it does not visit the clicked url

  • 3rd party charts and graphs

I would like to find out if there are any 3rd party (Free or for purchase) libraries which contain enhanced graphics objects.  For example, I would like to find a robust strip chart capable of displaying multiple simultaneous (Time locked or common X axis) strips in separate plots with the ability to re-arrange the plots vertically (Drag and drop), save the configuration, etc.  I'm sure this can be done via a lot of detailed programming, but I'd rather just use already available solutions if they exist.
Are there 3rd party controls that replace and enhance the built in LabView graphs and charts?
    Thanks,
    Robert

Below are some options for advanced graphical controls:
    VantagePoint Trend
The VantagePoint Trend control is a scalable and highly-customizable data visualization control that allows you to track changes in data over time from a given data source or set of data sources, all in a cross-platform cross-browser environment.  This control have serperate versions for WPF andSilverlight.
    Visifire Charts
Visifire is a set of data visualization controls - powered by Microsoft® Silverlight™ & WPF. Visifire is a multi-targeting control which can be used in both WPF & Silverlight applications. Using the same API, charts in both Silverlight & WPF environments can be created within minutes. Visifire is independent of server side technology, and can be used with ASP, ASP.Net, SharePoint, PHP, JSP, ColdFusion, Python, Ruby or just simple HTML. Check out more information on page http://www.visifire.com/.
    amCharts Bundle for WPF
It is a set of highly customizable, interactive WPF charts for WPF applications.
    Quick Charts for WPF&Silverlight
It is an easy to use, fast set of charting controls. Compared to amCharts Bundle, it has less features and only supports column and line graphs.
You should be able to find online documentation further describing the specifications of the above products.

  • Securing 3rd party webservice

I would like some advice please.
We are building a flex application which is consuming a 3rd
party web-service. We want to make sure that only the flex
application we made can have access to this 3rd party web-service.
The flex application will be publicly available, so there is no way
of putting in some authentication here. How should I configure the
proxy-config.xml to prevent other consumers (other than our flex
app) from using the web-service available through the flex proxy.

    Hi,
There are ways to secure destinations. Please visit the URL

IS COMPUTER FIX, INC A 3rd party Independent Tech Support Provider FOR APPLE? THEY CHARGED AS 339.00 DOLLARS TO REMOTELY REPAIR OUR MACBOOK

If you paid by credit card, contact the bank handling this payment
and ask that it be stopped since the provider did not actually do
anything to the computer and you are suspicious of their actions.
If the billing was added to a phone account, contact the vendor of
that service to dispute the charges against you; and cite concerns
of security, identify theft, privacy and of being scammed.
You may have to fill out forms, and see if the credit card bank will
refund or not; usually they mail them to your billing address, after
you call the bank customer service. Some are better at than others.
This could take some months to resolve, if you paid that way.
They may also have installed (or had you remove security) while
inside your Mac and its system software, remotely. If they were
able to 'scan' your Mac remotely, they may have harvested any
personal or financial information, including passwords saved to
online accounts that may have been in browsers or keychain.
On another track, complete repaired Macs of an older vintage
are not very expensive; even ones from companies who repair
them or those who have stock of repaired units...
While checking for a friend, online I found a few portables that
had been repaired and for sale by a company whose business
is to repair almost all portable Apple computers, in-house.
You can buy an early model guaranteed MacBook from reputable
repair companies with limited warranty for under $400. and that
includes a bill-of-health with an option to buy a longer warranty
for a little bit more. Or just mail in your computer in a flat-rate
postal carton with padding, to one of the well-reputed repairers
    directly. They perform a physical/software hands-on diagnostic
& repair service, tell you before they fix anything what it will cost,
what the price variables are when they do hands-on testing; as
that is a real repair. An example: wegenermedia.com online.
The Apple support site has links to the better known AASP
authorized Apple service providers, and you could look up
the ones nearest your City & Country in the Locate section.
Blue links below require additional info once in their Site to
access the Authorized Apple Service Providers who have
an actual physical presence, where they offer services..
Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider
    Visit an Apple Retail Store
Apple - Find Locations - Country Selector:
    https://locate.apple.com/country
Contact Apple Support - Apple Support:
    http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
Some independent providers may be in a situation to do more or
even less, than an Authorized service provider. Some may just
repair computers -- and not officially be affiliated with Apple...
Best to do the necessary research before committing to repair.
    In any event...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Misleading and misrepresentation - 3rd party marketing to bring back old customers

Just had Verizon installed last week and did not get all of the incentives the 3rd party rep. offered.  First the rep spent 4 hours in my house getting the order done (Verizon had changed the operating system and he was having trouble navigating it) but honestly I like the service and with the package he was offering  it was ok for me.
    The offer:
2 years Ultimate package, free Multi room DVR & $300 Visa Prepaid Card
Sounded great and would make my switch back to Verizon worthwhile because without the prepaid card it wouldn't be financially smart (Verizon $25 more a month for same services as Comcast for first year) . So after service installed I realized I did not have all of the movie channels and stated by the rep and on the flyer. So I call Verizon CS that night after installation and speak to a Rep. who says the order is not even in for real service yet and only as installation, but also tells me that the Ultimate package does not include HBO or Starz as I was told and it says on my flyer. I say ok, can I check the rest of my order please. So I tell him the package and he says , that there is no $300 gift card on the order.  I get a little upset and he says there is nothing he could even such as "a $20 bill credit for for 12 months" because the package is not active in his system.  I repeat to him a "$20 bill credit for 12 months" and he replies "yes I have done it before", but he can't because of the status of my service.
So I call back Fri. still same thing with service order but CS rep says call back Mon. it should be through.  So I call back today and no one can help me with my situation. I mean really the $20 bill credit for 12 months isn't $300 but it was good enough for because of how much I like the service.  Now however I am completely turned off by the misleading sales pitch  by the 3rd party company (which Verizon could only say "sorry") and the misrepresentation of a CS rep. suggesting the $20 credit if they were not going to do it.
It's really too bad because I really like the service and have told so many people how much I like it and they should try it, but now I will scream from the mountain tops, facebook, twitter and any other way I can how they mislead and misrepresent to get sales and customers and TO STAY AWAY  - it's not worth the headache.

    danh70,
Since we haven't heard back from you or have received a form submission as requested in your private support case, it appears assistance is no longer required. If you need any future help with your Verizon service, please make a post here on the forums so we can assist.
