5 weeks later... still no broadband, due to line b...

Hi,
We have ordered an Infinity broadband from you, but for the last 5 weeks you've been struggling to set it up and send the engineer out.
We had a line with talk-talk that has been migrated to BT. This works fine. But...
We ordered Infinity broadband 5-6 weeks ago, and you've been sending the engineer every week, but they never came. Every time I speak to you you want to open another order. I have had enough.
Turn our that when we migrated the line from talk-talk you set up our account as business. But there is no business here. It should have always been residential. Nobody can change it for me, you just keep lying and delaying it!
Then we needed a name change on the account, so that one person looks after the line and broadband bills.
Then we needed that broadband.
I mean... how difficult is it? I had enough of this Indian callcentre robots that can only tell me 'I can't access this account, I will put you through' or 'everything is fine, the engineer will be with you next week'. I have already taken 3 days off work and waited for the engineer!
WHAT THE! SERIOUSLY!
I really need to speak to somebody who is actually able to do some job.
Need:
- line status change: business to residential (as it was never meant to be a business line, someone made a mistake when setting this up)
- ownership change (this has been verified and confirmed by your team, but has never actually happened) -- just change a name on the account, the rest remains the same
- install the Infinity broadband!
Please.. is there anyone at BT who can actually help? I'm giving up slowly

I don't mind sharing my number. In fact I would be more than happy to receive a call.... from BT :-)
I understand it's c2c forum, but as you've noticed -- I am getting nowhere. I'm trying all possible means of contact before actually giving up.
I would go for another provider, but I have no other option for fast broadband. And I work in IT and really need that to transfer my VM images and do remote administration...
I am so desperate than I am thinking of moving home just to get it (it=fast broadband. won't be from BT for sure). I really cannot work with my current 2-2.5Mbps
I've spoken to so many people, but none of them would help. They would just put me through and through, endlessly

    Really fed up now My broadband went off last Friday night and I'm still no further, the final straw was last night when another call from Mumbai to tell me that me the appointment for today ( Friday) won't be till Monday! .     The chances are that if you have a noisy line this will be the cause of your slow speed.
    Have you tried a known working corded telephone in the test point of your main socket? If it is noisy to there then you have a line problem causing the problems.
    Most noisy line faults do not show when they run a line test.

    I wonder if anybody has had a similar experience?
    I signed up for the BT boradband and call package (10GB) on August 23rd. I was told that my activation date would be September 13th. I was a bit miffed that I'd have to wait three weeks to be able to call out from my new home, but I was patient. When the 13th rolled around, my phone was switched on, but not the broadband (I had received the hub earlier that day). I tried everything and still nothing. Called BT and was told it could take up to midnight. 
    14th came. No broadband. I was told 'it should be on tomorrow'.
    15th.
    16th.
    17th. I was told 'by Saturday, for sure'.
    18th. 'By Monday, or anytime before then. We'll call you'.
    19th.
    20th. 'Tuesday by close of business hours'.
    21st...guess what? Still no broadband.
    To be honest, I'm pretty shocked. It's been over a week. The worst part is, the only contact I've had has been by my instigation....Only one person called me back to say it'd be on today. And since I've had to haul my laptop to my parents house just to type this, you can guess I'm still not connected. The funniest part of all this, is when I load up my Mac, I can see that my neighbours have also got BT broadband, so we obviously share an exchange. But they're online and I'm not. I've been told repeatedly that it's some issue with the exchange.
    I don't really know what to do now. I'm pretty close to calling the whole thing off, but if I call again and another person tells me 'tomorrow' or 'by midnight', I think I'd go ballistic.
    As far as I know, all the equipment is working fine, I have a dial tone, I can make calls...just the silly hub blinking that annoying broadband light (orange) at me. For those who have experienced this, did it ever get resolved? How long did it take? What happened in the end?

  • Difficulty deactivating iMessages; 3 weeks later & still not receiving texts from iPhones

    I recently switched to Android, and I didn't know to turn off my iMessages before. It's now been three weeks, and I'm still not receiving messages from iPhone. I went online & tried to deauthorize my past apple devices, and STILL no luck.
    Any advice? I want to contact Apple, but it's absurdly expensive, apparently, if you don't have an Apple device (seriously? $19?). How long before I should start receiving iMessages if my phone has been deauthorized?

    If another person or company serviced your iPad, your warranty has been voided.  Apple will do an out-of-warranty exchange.  Have you contacted the original service provider, and complained?

    You do not buy Photoshop for 300 baht, you are renting it for that much a month. You set up an account with a valid credit card and to see if it is active, you go here. https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html  Look under my Subscriptions.
    If all is good, then with the same Adobe ID/password, select "License this Product" and sign in, or Help > Sign in.
    That will license it.

  • Activation date 2 days ago and still no broadband

    Hi Everyone
    I ordered broadband on an existing bt phone line on 17th June and was given an activation date for 3 weeks later.  My activation date was Monday and 2 days later I am still without a connection.  The website tracker syas that "Your Broadband order is in hand with a member of our team, if there are any issues we will contact you. Please continue to check online for further updates"  The Indian call centre promised me a call back as they needed to contact 'their supplier'.  24 hours on from that phone call and this hasnt happened.  Would a mod be able to give me their contact details so they can look into this to find out what the delay is and how long the process might take.  Working from home means I need a continuity of internet provision moving from one supplier to the next.

    Just finished a live chat session as the promised returned phonecall never materialized.  The operator said that "The reason for the delay is regarding the ground work for the cables to be connected from the exchange".  How can this be the case when it's BT broadband coming through an already installed BT phone line that has been carrying broadband from another provider.  It's not BT infinity as that hasnt rolled out to this part of Bristol yet.  In the live chat he said that I should have broadband by 13th July, which is a whole working week after the promised start date.

  • 3 week later back to slowness sub half a Mbs from ...

    To cut a long story short I managed to get a decent speed (2.7Mbs) which due to where I live I expected that, after of course  a long protracted agument with BT in the 1st place. Now 3 weeks later I am yet again sub 0.5Mbs for 3 day running due to errors and packet dropping on the line. My ISP has fone the line check.
    I won't go into the ins and out but suffice to say 0.5Mbs is not good enough. When I know full well that the line should have speeds circa 3Mbs. Again and again I have told them that the line between the exchange and the houses are of such porr quality that they are not providing a permanent solution just bodge fixes. What redress shall I go through to get this done. I have been thinking C.A.B and or Ofcom.
    Why won't BT listen to it's rural customers is this because they know they are the only rural PSTN/POTS provider?  Thus fleece us with high prices knowing full we we cannot move away from them? I am venting my spleen a bit here because I am getting more and more frustrated at the lack of help from BT with what is in essence a speed that will allow me contiue to work from home and to actually surf the web.

    BT phone line as there no other pstn/pots in my part of Devon. The distance from my exchange is 4.5km as the wire goes not as the crow fllies. approx 20 houses use the same pole to pole with all the same problems as me. so at 4.5km I know I am at the edge of your achane infrastructure with no real way out else I'd have taken it. Bodge after bodge. BT cherry picker after BT cherry picker. Is there any wonder at the amount of vemon in mine and other peoples post on here. 
    Yet the goverment where trying to get minimum speeds to 2Mbs I bet you've claused rural out that bill if it ever comes into force? You have changed the lower limit for 400kbs to 600kbs wow whoopty do.

  • 13 Weeks still fault with my phone line

    Well what a nightmare did I think 13 weeks later and still have a fault with phone line. Had around 15 dates for this to be fixed excuses after excuses really don't know what to do next so annoyed

    Do you pay talktalk your line rental or BT Retail?
    if it is talktalk then As this forum is for BT Retail customers only and you are with talk talk then you will need to raise it with TalkTalk themselves.
    The lines are maintained by Openreach for all ISPs/CPs such as talktalk, BT Retail, Sky, EE, ect...
    However even though Openreach is part of the BTplc Group, Openreach are a completely different line of business and have to treat all ISPs/CPs equally.
    Openreach also only communicate with ISPs/CPs such and do not talk to end users such as you and me.
    I'm afraid you will need to raise this matter with TalkTalk if you pay them line rental.

    My monthly iunternet bill is due today, but I am unable to pay it on time this month. I'm wondering if anyone knows if Comcast charges late fees if you're only 1 or 2 weeks late? I use to have Century link and they would always let me pay every two months and never charged a late fee. Just wondering if Comcast might be the same way with internet bills?

    Here at Comcast we do bill a month in advance. Some benefits of this is cycle billing is designed to ensure that after the first bill, the customer will always be billed for exactly 30 Days of regular service (not including Pay Per View, XFINITY On Demand, Toll Usage, or other additional fees). A customer’s first two bills may be less than a month apart but he/she will be billed monthly (approximately one month in advance) thereafter, until disconnection.  As far as late fees, depending on how overdue a payment is, late fees may be charged or service could be interrupted or disconnected. Payments are due on or before the date stated on the customer bill. If a bill is not paid on time, the customer will receive a late payment notice. Depending on the severity of the past due payment timing, the account will be subject to incurring late fees, interruption of service, and possible account disconnection. The late fee policy also varies by your region. I hope this helps bring some clarity.

    Try:                                               
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on           
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable                     
    - Try on another computer                                                       
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    It seems that even if they were going to stop offering the collection, that they could have offered people who have bought the first half the option to buy the second half before discontinuing it. I understand that they they are under no obligation, but it just seems really lame. I based the decision to buy the first half on how much it was going to cost to ultimately buy the whole series. Had I known that the price was going to become so much more with no warning, I likely would not have bought the first half. Pretty lame. Bait and switch. Not feeling warm and fuzzy whatsoever. I think Apple should either re-offer vol. 2 to people who bought vol. 1, or buy vol. 1 back from us.

    I should have explained further. The game opens in a new window over to the upper left of my screen, leaving the original page underneath. I tried minimizing it so that I could get to my toolbar and did the View > Zoom > Reset. This has no effect. The lower portion of the game is still not showing. Using other browsers the window or frame of the game is much larger, therefore everything shows.

    You need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user.
    Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his box.com account in for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items > uninstall iWork '09.zip.
