5th gen is locked with a non-simple password. i forgot it and restoring didnt work.. suggestions??

Well basically I wasn't thinking and decided it was a good idea to make a complex password. When I woke up, I didn't have a clue. Now I need any suggestions to just reset my Ipod. I don't have anything important because I got it Saturday.... PLEASE HELP. thanks

Not knowing what happens when you tried:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

Sounds like you need a new battery. Take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.

HELP! just a b & w screen with "do not disconnect" and restore doesnt work

i dont know whats wrong with my ipod, its just got a b & w version of the normal "do not connect" screen, even when iTunes hasnt recognised it being plugged in, and if i reset it, it just has that folder picture, and the aple.com/support/ipod thing on the screen, before going back to the "do not disconnect" again in black and white. and restore doesnt work, it just says some error, and quits. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong? thanks

No, it does not. It transfers purchases from the iDevice to the computer. The computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that the content was acquired with.

Aha! I have sorted it.
For those with similar problems, the solution is this:
Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > MIDI Drivers
Then delete DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin

Tried to update 5th gen iTouch with OIS 8.1.2 and after downloading and almost completing the iTouch screen froze with white background and Apple logo. iTunes stating cannot access iTouch due to password lock, but cannot access due to frozen screen. Also cannot turn off iTouch to try and reset.

IPod nano (5th gen) is locked.

My 5th generation iPod nano is locked.
This is not the "screen lock" which asks for a passcode. Rather, it is like the "hold" switch lock. A tiny padlock appears in the upper-left hand corner of the screen and the wheel (menu, center butto, etc.) are totally non-responsive. The hold switch is NOT on, however, and I have toggled it several times to no effect. It stays locked.
I tried to reset, but the menu and center buttons don't respond.
I used "restore" on iTunes--twice--but that didn't work, either.
The iPod still syncs to iTunes and shows up on my computer when it is plugged in, but I can't get it to respond to pressing of any of the inputs.
Any suggestions?

Brand new ipod touch 5th gen 64gb problems with first power on

I have just received a brand new ipod touch 5th gen 64 gb from amazon. After reading the instructions i tried to power it on but nothing happened.
It was suggested on here to try the recovery start but again, nothing happened.
I then plugged the device in to a wall socket charger to see if the battery is flat,but the apple logo comes on for about 15 seconds then goes off again. If I hold down the home button while the apple logo is off, after a while the ipod goes into recovery start up, but as soon as i unplug it from the wall socket adaptor it turns off.
It will not do anything plugged into the usb soccket of my laptop.
Any ideas or will I have to return this to amazon?
