6220 Classic display issue

Last weekend I took my 6220 Classic for a drive.....on the back bumper of my car. By the time I reached home (112 mile journey!) it was soaked. My provider has replaced the handset but the display on the replacement is laid out a little differently to how the previous handset was.
On the display there are some quick launch icons which can be displayed in various ways, vertical, horseshoe, horizontal etc. On my previous handset one of these icons was for the bluetooth, I don't have this on my new handset. How do I put the bluetooth icon into the quick-launch menu?
The second problem is key functionality. There are two "quick keys" on the handset, one that goes straight to messaging and one that goes straight to web. These keys are at the top right and top left of the main keypad, either side of the big button. On my previous handset these keys were for messaging and contacts...how can I change the function of these keys? I don't use the web but I do use my contacts list!

you should be able to assign new shortcuts that you want displayed on your standby screen

6220 Classic -texting issue 'is/hr'?

Hi all,
Just acquired this new phone, which on the whole I like. But a small problem with texting the word 'is'. As you'll agree, it's pretty common to feature in a text message, but with my predictive text on (off?), when I hit the 4 and 7 keys to form the word 'is', it comes up with 'hr', which is pretty ridiculous. This means I have to hit the * to scroll through for 'is'.
Am I alone in this problem? All other Nokia phones I've had would default to the word 'is', which makes perfect sense.
Any advice received is much appreciated. Thanks.

6220 classic cannot display contact's name in mess...

Has anyone seen this problem? my 6220 classic was working fine , but recently the messages i received from my friends do not show their names, but rather just their numbers... everytime i restart the phone, the next message probably shows the name but subsequent ones start just showing the numbers again, and i am quite frustrated. Can anyone help me?

do you have duplicate contacts in the phone or names entered twice but different numbers

Failed updates with Nokia N82 or 6220 Classic? Sen...

4) adl_flash.log from your Temp folder (Goto Start > Run > Enter %temp% )

I wrote all my posts from 2005-2011 as an "Admin" for this community. I still work for Nokia as an external consultant, so my rank in all posts is now "Employee".

if nsu bricks phones then nokia should completly take NSU off there site n stop people from updating. its a product from nokia that should be up to standards. im just saying when vista released they had problems with NSU and took there time to prepare a fix and now a year later that same problem exists on n82 n 6220c.
also look at how many users have had there phone go through recovery mode or blinking screen. nokia are so advance with there phones n they cant be bothered to implement FOTA in all there new nseries, eseries devices were this reduces the phone bricking as FOTA are little updates.
Nokia need to stop the NSU and prepare a ultimate fix for it. They make to many new applications and they cant even fix the problems that exist with there PC suite, Nokia Music Manager etc.

Mac Color Classic Display

Hi, I have a macintosh color classic having a display issue. If I leave the system off, and the main switch on the back in the off position for a few hours and start it up it runs perfect, and can do so for well over 20 hours strait.
However, if the main switch has been on for more than a minute or so without starting up I have issues. When I finally do hit the power button on the keyboard the display is overlapping itself in the middle and almost twice as bright as the maximum allows.
I already tried opening the case and dusting out the inside with a can of compressed air. Replaced PRAM battery. Reset PRAM, all that normal stuff.
Any suggestions or tips would be nice, especially since the computer is in otherwise perfect operating condition!

I'm no expert on these but I had something similar on a Classic. It seemed to be a fault with the hard drive, I think it stalled and took current forcing the PSU into safe mode, as in the computer didn't start up. I replaced the HD and all was well.
Sometimes the computer would start and sometimes not, most odd.
I wonder as your screen is folding over, the deflection circuit has a fault which takes too much current and causes the problem. Only a guess based on what I have experienced.

Chinese 6220 classic dont work! Can´t connect to n...

Need help.
1st issue:
Bought a 6220 classic, in a Nokia store (Shanghai)in China thinking a Nokia would be a Nokia all around the world. I new it did not support 3G. But still back in Sweden I can not connect to any network using my swedish operator 3. When I talk to them they say that its the phone and that the sim card is ok. ??? The phone works with other operators such as Telenor. The phone actually worked the 2 first days in sweden with 3 and then it stopped working, just cant connect!? I can search for and I can see the operators, but it just cant connect.
2nd Issue:
I would like to uppdate the software just as I could with my N73. But no. Why... with this phone I really need it. Sim application is still in chinese. and its probably that causing my problems with not being able to connect to my operator. So now I have a Nokia phone, brand new, that i cant use!!!!!

Could it be the sim card that is looked just for phones capaple of using 3g?
when you say it worked for 2 days, does it mean you were able to receive and make calls/txt?
is the SIM card a 3G SIM card?
the 6220c RM-387 is designed for Asia EGSM, EGPRS only and it has no 3G.

6220 classic - Firmware 5.15 doubles every Contact

Hi!
After upgrading my 6220 classic from FW 3.23 to 5.15 every contact is doubled.
Also the groups are double.
If i edit or delete any contact both of them are edited or deleted
Someone having the same problems? Any solution, or is it possible to downgrade?
After having two repairs in the last ~ 10 weeks i'm very disappointed with this mobile...

you are right, something is not right. i would recommend that you do a back up and reinstall your firmware once again as i have not heard of such an issue. when you reinstall plug in *#7370# from your home screen the default code is 12345. remember to remove your memory card if you have any. also you might want to turn off your phone take the batt out for 5-10min, reasemble and see if there is any changes in the phones behavior. after that if that does not help try the firmware reinstall.

6220 Classic video recording = super **bleep**?

I bought 6220 Classic about week ago but i've been having problem with video recording.During video recording, whole screen goes dark(or very dark) for 1-2secs then goes back to normal. This happens Very often even in very bright condition.
Screen usually seem to go dark for a sec during recording when i move from brighter scene to darker scene.
Anyway is this normal for 6220c? Anyone with 6220c have same problem?
(also does this happen on other Nokia phone with VGA+ 30fps recording?)

Ok i'm not sure why im not allow to say "c r a p" but anyway lets just say the video recording quality is very poor, when u change from bright to dark, or dark to bright, screen go very dark or very bright for about a sec, n then it runs normal again, is this known issue on nokia VGA recording, or is my phone faulty?
If its known issue then i can live with it, but i obviously want it fixed if my phone is faulty.

6220 Classic - no voice tag saved for this contact...

I have just got my 6220 Classic and I am having a problem with the voice tags. When I try to use voice dialling, it never brings contacts up as an option, just no match found. When I go into the contacts and select voice tag details, I get the message "No voice tag saved for this contact". Voice tags are supposed to be automatically generated for contacts, but this doesn't seem to be happening and there is no way to record a voice tag.
Any suggestions?

All the contacts are in the phone memory and the contact list is only displaying the phone memory, but still the contacts aren't working. Any ideas? All the contacts were imported from Outlook, but even when I create a new contact in the phone memory, it still doesn't work.

6220 Classic - ring tones for individual contacts ...

My partner and i both got the 6220 classic at the same time.
On his phone he can select a contact, then options and scroll down to ringing tone and have a different ring tone for each contact or group. When I do exactly the same, it says under the contact name that their ring tone has been changed, but it still plays the standard tone. Despite saying that each contacts ring tone is different, it just plays the same one for each.
Is there a setting somewhere which we've missed? Can't understand why it works fine on one phone but not on the other.

Nope, not currently... but hopefully that change is coming in an update.

6220 Classic System Error - help please!

Hello,
I'm just back from holiday and am trying to change the time back on my 6220 Classic to UK time but if I try and open the Clock option from the Office folder, it comes up with "System Error" and won't let me open the menu. Nor will it open the "Date and Time" option from the Settings folder. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do to fix this issue?

ok back up all your data 1st of all
then try the following
Soft Reset will clear pending errors and bring your mobile to an initial state by restoring Factory setting. To operate this function on your mobile, the shortcut is: *#7380#
It may happen that despite you have restored your mobile to factory setting, the error still exist. In this case, it is recommended that you opt for Hard reset
Enter the code: *#7370# and press Yes to confirm initialization.

Partially blurry pictures with 6220 Classic

I am having trouble with partially blurry pictures and video on my brand new 6220 Classic. The bottom left corner gets blurry almost as if the compression is higer in this area than in others.
What could this be and should I send it for repair?

hey there, i think i now know what is wrong with it. i had a look at your photos and i did indeed see the error, at first i thought it might have been a firmware issue but you have said that you have updated it and the problem still occurs.
i recall reading a magazine the other day and recalling that they complained that the xenon flash is located immediately under the camera lens (which it shouldn't be really because with flash shots it can light up the bottom left hand corner of the photo). i think this is the reason you are getting blurry artifacts in the bottom of your photos as the flash may be firing, even in daylight (when it is not very visible). as such, there seems to be nothing you can do about this except blame nokia for the illogical placement of the flash.

6220 Classic: Ovi Suite Software Update problems

Hello everyone,
I am trying to update the firmware of a 6220 Classic via Ovi Suite (2.1.1.1). I connected the phone, and started the software update process. I was informed the current firmaware version is 03.23, and that version 5.15 is available. I proceeded downloading the (148mb) firmware update.
After that the update process started, and I was informed to ignore all USB connection notifications. Notifications like "Nokia Flash Parent detected" were displayed with one informing me that the driver for one of these "devices" failed to install.
I then got the "Device recovery" error, stating that Ovi Suite lost connection with my device, and presented me with 4 steps to follow to "help reconnect your device". None of this helped, and I kept on getting the same error. Now I am lost. The 5.15 update is also not available OTA. Luckily the phone was not bricked in the process, and is still working fine at version level 3.23
Any ideas on how to get Ovi Suite to install the update? My system specs: Windows XP Pro SP3 with latest fixes/updates.

I always use Ovi Suite to update 3 phone (5310, 5610, 5800), no problems so far. However once caveat on s60 phone like yours is that when problems like this occur, you could try to update without a memory card inserted. If that fails, hard reset the phone and update the blank phone (back up first before resetting of course). If that still fails, take it to a Nokia Care Center.

I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well.

The screen does work though! Through trial and error along side a little troubleshooting, I was able to figure out that the screen will cut on after the phone dies completely. The phone has to die completely with no battery power left. Then if I plug the phone into a charge and wait a while for it to charge, the phone will turn on like nothing was ever even wrong with it. I charge the phone up to like 30% and turn it off then bam the phone turns on but the screen is solid black again.
I am currently in the process of waiting for the phone to die and when I turn the phone back on I am going to completely remove the auto-lock and lock code off of the phone for the time being.
Any other suggestions? Please help!

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

Display issue on brand new 2014 X1 Carbon Touch

So I was about to start raving about my X1C that I just received. Loving the display, the keyboard, build quality, etc. I had no gripes and was just browsing away when suddenly the screen did the full glitch. I recognize this as what happens when something's messed with the motherboard/display adapter. So I gave it a reset. All was normal and then it happened again. I was able to replicate it 3-4 times and it keeps happening. I never dropped it or anything. It was always just stationary.
I can't believe this. I had problems with the first gen non-touch and touch. I was hoping by now they have improved.
