6720c unwanted E-mail setup dialog

I'm using my 6720c roaming on foreign networks, no problem except the phone from time to time displays an E-mail Setup dialog: "Allow application to use network to send or receive data?". I already have email accounts set up on the phone, but I can't find a way to stop this dialog appearing. It is annoying and intrusive, so for example it appears even while I am navigating with Ovi Maps. It makes no difference whether I answer Yes or No, it just keeps coming back.
Anyone any idea how I can get rid of it? Help, please!

Thanks for your input, Crusch.
Your experience seems to confirm that
the E-mail setup dialog has been introduced by a recent software upgrade,
it appears whenever the phone registers on a foreign network
this behaviour is not caused by an isolated software glitch on my own phone, and it affects several phone models.
The problem now is to find a way of 'satisfying' the E-mail setup application so that it does not repeatedly reappear. The feature is undocumented as far as I can find, and Nokia Support staff can only suggest a 'reset' of the phone. I think point 3 above implies that a reset is unlikely to solve the problem.
I have held off doing a reset, and since I am now home from my travels I have no way of testing this or any other solution at the moment.
Come on Nokia, what's the answer?

  • Ps CS5 "Print Page Setup" dialog will not open

Hello: I was printing via my Photoshop CS5.
I accidentally created a paper size of 0cm x 0cm and attempted to print (up to this point Photoshop and Print worked).
I now (permanently) get an error message: "There was an error opening your printer. . . "
Photoshop >File >Print. . . will not open the Print Page Setup.
Photoshop >File >Print one copy (works, but still tries to print 0cm x 0cm, the printer spits out a blank page).
Using the (Mac/Apple) app 'Preview' I deleted the paper size preset '0cm x 0cm'.
apps; Preview, Text Edit, Mail, Word, . . . all print properly (they can open the 'Print Page Setup' dialog).
I set up two other printers (now three in total) and they work with all applications (except Photoshop).
I uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop and my printers, including all their preference files.
Also, I again deleted Photoshop preference files by opening Photoshop while pressing 'Shft-Opt-Cmd'.
In 'System Preferences' >Print & Fax >Printers; I reset my computer's "Printing System".
I repaired 'Disk Permissions', Safe Boot and have also done multiple restarts.
Since only Photoshop has a problem, I believe Photoshop has (somewhere) set a preference thinking it's default paper size is 0cm x 0cm which is throwing an error and preventing the 'Print Page Setup' from opening.
    I updated Photoshop Adobe Air, Printers, . . . after re-installing.
I ran an app that clears my computer's caches.
I reinstalled (and updated) my computer's operating system (OS only, not my account and data).
    I would appreciate your help. Thank-you, M_L_R

Hello: I repaired my (Print: Page Setup. . . dialog panel will not open) problem.
The fix was one of the many suggestions I researched in the 'Adobe Help'.
Unfortunately I dismissed this solution (until now).
        reference: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/error-install-printer-photoshop-cs4.html
see >Solution 7: Create a different user account and run Photoshop as that user.
Some of the (following) procedures may not be necessary, but the core solution is in there. . .
Mac OS X v10.5 or later >System Preferences >Accounts >Guest Account (sharing only) >Allow guests to log in to this computer >Automatic Login (for Administrator, still active - optional) >then log out of the (main/administrator) account >then Log in to the guest account >go to the applications folder (in the guest account) >open Photoshop >create a new simple document (example: create one text letter) >Print. . . (in this situation Print: Page Setup. . . the dialog panel opens [remember: this is the error problem in the main account]) >(do what you normally do) select your printer >set up a page size and printer options >print. Save that Photoshop project >delete that Photoshop project >Log out (of the Guest account) >Log in to your regular (main/administrator) account >the Guest account can now be deactivated (optional) >open Photoshop (in your main account) >test print a simple document >the (Print: Page Setup. . .) dialog panel now opens >(do what you normally do) select your printer >set up a page size and printer options >print. Save that Photoshop project >delete that Photoshop project >the (Print: Page Setup. . . dialog panel will not open) problem is repaired. Bye for now, M_L_R

  • Outlook 2013 Mail Setup Add Account crashes or will not connect to Exchange in Windows 8.1

I've posted this in the answers.Microsoft.com forum, as well as the Office365 forum, and they sent me here, saying the Outlook engineers would be the best to help with this.  I actually already posted this question a week ago, but nobody here replied.
Getting a bit frustrated at the lack of support, except for Richard over at the Office365 Forum.
I'm setting up a new laptop with Windows 8.1.  Just installed Office Professional Plus 2013.  I have an Office365 E1 subscription, but this Office 2013 is not associated with the subscription.
When I go to setup any email account using the automatic mode (primary will be Exchange Online with my 365 account, but I've tested POP email accounts with the same result), the Mail Setup crashes once the email address and password is entered and Next is
pressed.  This error message is displayed:
"Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
The step displayed as in process when the crash occurs is the "Searching for [email address] settings".  The first step "Establishing network connection" is checked complete.
I've run an Office Repair, and there's no change.  I've run a clean boot, and no change.  I uninstalled/reinstalled both from the Click to Run version, as well as reinstalling from a disk install, with the same error still appearing.
If I use the manual setup mode and input the server outlook.office365.com, both the Check Name function and the Next button result in the error message:
"The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."
I've disabled the firewall and still get this Outlook error.  I am able to start Outlook and it will run now, and I can connect POP and IMAP email using the manual setup, but still cannot connect to ExchangeOnline via the manual setup.  I still
get the error "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."
I deleted the Outlook data file and deleted the profile, and created a new profile, and I'm still getting the Add account setup crash Rundll32 error in the auto-setup mode.
Important to note: I tested my friend's Office365 E3 ExchangeOnline account and was able to get a successful setup test, so it doesn't appear that the problem is entirely just the Outlook2013 client, since it worked once with a 365 Exchange account.
I've been trying to get this working for 2 weeks now, and I am unable to completely switch off my old laptop using Outlook 2010 until I can get Outlook2013 setup on my new one, which is a huge hassle.
Can you offer any ideas or solutions?  Please help ASAP.
    Thanks,
    Jason

IMPORTANT: I found the solution.  Another user figured it out and posted the answer on another thread.
Please spread this around to all other Outlook support techs so they know to point people in the direction of the quick (though very obscure) fix to this problem.
See this thread for how to disable graphics acceleration in Office, which iswhat causes the rundll23 error.

  • Page Setup dialog doesn't work

    Hi everyone
My generic Page Setup dialog box as e.g. used for Word etc. doesn't work:
In the Page Setup dialog, the "Setting" menu doesn't work at all, i.e. I can see the dropdown but it doesn't accept my changes (it's fixed on "Page Settings"). All other menus or choices are accepted but then the "OK" button doesn't work; it just flickers briefly and then goes back to blue. The "Cancel" button makes all contents of the dialog box disappear except for the frame and the buttons. Either way force quitting and relaunching the application is the only way to continue working in the application.
What could be the issue here?
A few specs on my hardware, printer and system:
    - MacBook Pro (brand new)
    - OS X 10.5.5
    - Printers: hp LaserJet 4200 (main printer), iP5200R, OKI B6200, Lexmark E321. All these printers I used without problems with my old PowerBook G4.
The problem occurs with all applications using this generic Page Setup dialog, such as Word, Grab etc. In Excel e.g. all these functions work (it uses a different kind of dialog box for the page setup).
The problem could possibly have started to occur when the Lexmark printer could not be installed automatically so I assigned it another Lexmark driver, which seemed to work. But I'm not sure whether those two problems occurred at the same time.
    What I tried already:
    - uninstall and reinstall all printers in the Print & Fax part of the System Preferences. I uninstalled all printers and (without restart) reinstalled the hp printer only. The problem was still there, even upon restart.
    - reinstall Word (first I thought it was a Word problem)
    Any ideas??

    Hi,
Try to increase the size of repeating frame, as I follow this strategy in my report find the outermost repeating frame and increase its size to whole page than increase the size of your required repeating frame if you want to break page on this group, no need to set max record and page break properties(as I saw page break property never works).
    Thanks.

  • Outlook 2013 Mail Setup Add Account crashes with Rundll32 error and will not connect to Exchange in Windows 8.1

I got a new Acer laptop with Windows 8.1 over 3 weeks ago, and installed Office Professional Plus 2013.  I have an Office365 E1 subscription, but this Office 2013 is not associated with the subscription.

"The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."  The folks in the Office365 support community have told me that Office365 ExchangeOnline
servers have to be configured with the auto-setup and cannot be setup manually.
I've done both a system refresh and a system reset, and I'm still getting the Rundll32 error.  I tried to run a reset from a disk, but the laptop does not want to run it from the external DVD drive (giving error messages), so that doesn't appear
    to be an option.
I've searched extensively, and there doesn't seem to be any existing threads where anything like this problem is discussed.
Can you offer any ideas or solutions?
After THREE WEEKS of troubleshooting this, and some significant delays in getting help from support, I'm really close to returning this laptop.
I need an answer on this ASAP to see if you've got an insights before I return the laptop for a new one.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • How can I use metric units in Page Setup dialog box?

When I go to my Page Setup dialog box, in Margins tabs, I see that I can specify the margins in inches. However, in my friends PCs, I have seen Page Setup dialog boxes that use millimeters for handling margins.
How can I make my version of Firefox to use millimeters instead of inches? Using this obscure unit is inconvenient for me. I prefer to use the internationally-accepted metric unit.

I can't find documentation about the settings, so you'll need to experiment a bit. I hope you're using A4 paper size instead if US- Letter, because I suspect that you will find out that the length of the paper won't be able to be set to Letter if you use the metric size unit setting.
Type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.''
    Pref name = print.printer_''printer_name''.print_paper_size_unit <br />
    and maybe <br />
    print.printer_''printer_name''.print_paper_size_type <br />
Try setting the '''Value''' to '''1'''
There's a support thread about metric settings here.

  • Is there a way to block unwanted e-mails and spam on your mobile devices?

Is there a way to block unwanted e-mails and spam on your mobile devices?

This is generally handled by your e-mail provider, not your e-mail reader.
For example, I use Gmail and it filters spam before it ever gets to my inbox. If something does get through, I can move it to the spam folder on my iPhone to report it as spam.

  • E-mail setup launching of its own accord

I'm using a Nokia X6 and ever since Orange merged with T-Mobile, the E-mail setup wizard has been launching of its own accord asking me to allow the application to use network to send or recieve data, I hit No and it goes away, but the wizard will keep launching.
It only seems to launch when the phone is locked and if I go in and out of signal.
    Some help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Any help? It's quite a pain. I've tried restarting, but that hasn't fixed it.

  • How do I get out of iOS Mail Setup?

    Hi All
I got a new iPad Mini for  Christmas.  I got it set up and working easily and fairly quickly.
I copied my Mail settings from my MacPro (OSX 10.8) using the "Sync selected Mail accounts" check box in iTunes. I've been reading mail on my iPad for about a month.
Yesterday I traveled several hours to stay with a friend for a while. I got the iPad on my friends WiFi without a problem and I can surf the web, map stuff and everything appears to be working fine... till I check email.
When I open Mail, I'm presented with the "Welcome to Mail" setup screen - like mail thinks it's not configured.
I go into Settings/Mail, Contacts and Calendars, and all my email  acccounts are there, just like they should be.
The iPad is playing the New Message alert chime as it fetches mail in the background.
When I open Mail all I get is the Welcome to Mail screen!
I tried putting in dummy info to get past the setup, but that fails and I end up back at the Welcome to Mail screen.
How do I get out of the stinking setup screen and back to my emails?

Thank you all for taking the time to read this. I believe I've solved the problem.
    What I did:
I have several email accounts (ISP, Gmail, etc). I have them set to forward to one 'primary' account and I have that set to Active and the rest set to Inactive.
I went into Settings/Mail, Comtacts and Calendars and activated one of the inactive accounts, and de-activated the account I normally use. This change apparently convinced Mail that it was indeed configured and it got out of the setup screen and back to may emails.
I then went back to Settings/Mail, Contacts and Calanders and returned the accounts to their original configurations. Things are now back to 'normal'.
This is clearly a programming issue. Apps should not need to be 'kicked' like that to function.

  • Lost my e-mail setup icon, HELP!

My phone recently had an issue and would not load the address book. I had done my last backup on 1/24/10 and retored the phone. Now I have no e-mail setup icon to add another e-mail address. I also get e-mails but they go to Messages, not the specific e-mail icon to which its related. PLEASE HELP!

    Hi there!
    I suggest the following steps:
    1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your BIS conduits for the affected email accounts.

  • Forgot username and password for e-mail setup

    Help!
i can't seem to have forgotten the username and password for e-mail set up. after i created the initial setup i never logged into the e-mail setup app. i can receive my e-mails now on my blackberry, but after the first set up i can't seem to access it. the username and password seem to be incorrect. how do i retrieve this info using my e-mail address alone.
    thanks ahead.

You'll need to call your service provider and ask them reset or delete your BIS account and add it back, and then you'll simply start anew, and this time, remember your username and password.
    Good luck.

  • E 6 Personal Mail setup -- please help

    Hello E6 experts,
can you please help me with the steps involved in setting up personal mailboxes in the E6? It's been asked before here... Every time I begin using the mail setup "wizard" I only reach the option for Mail for Exchange. How can one bypass that to setup Gmail and a regular, Imap personal mail box? What might I be missing? Thanks in advance...

    Hello again,
I just found out about the problem-- One has to have a SIM card installed  (at least for the first time) to be given the options for the various mail services up-front during mail setup. I was trying t do this without a SIM card --using the WiFi connection-- which every other cell phone I have owned allowed me to do. Apparently the E6 is different... Perhaps this will help someone
