7th Gen IPod nano- battery not charging- less than 2 years old- Maple service centre says buy new IPod as not possible to change battery in India

IPod Nano 7th Gen- battery problem- less than 2 years old

When you connect it to the computer's USB (or to a USB power adapter) so that it has power, does it still operate properly?  If it does, you are saying that as soon as you disconnect it from power (even after it has been connected for a while), it immediately shuts off?
Or is the iPod "dead" when you connect it to power?

my 6 mos old nano won't charge more than 20% or so - jsut started this weekend when i ran a half marathon and it ran out of juice before i could get it charged. only time it's ran out of juice.
plug it in to everything i have, and can only get 20% charge. i wear it on an armband, and it's hot - could that be it? Or is the battery just worn out?
Went through all the stuff i could find online to try...apple site and others.

Please describe _*in detail*_ all you have attempted to do in order to resolve the issue.
Have you called iPod technical support: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273), considered taking the iPod to an Apple Store or an AASP?

  • Battery is less than year old. Not holding a charge. Now what?

I Bought a new battery less than a year a go since the original wasn't holding a charge. The new one is doing the same thing. Now what do I do?

Did you buy a battery directly from Apple or a cheap third party knock off? Experience has taught me that you get what you pay for. Buy a better battery and follow the tips here for maximizing it's life.

  • Iphone 4s less than year old att, want work, blue and white lines black screen

I have a iphone 4s with ATT, not even a year old.  I dropped phone and now the screen is black with blue and white lines.  I have attempted to reset the phone with no success.  Is this a matter I can resolve with ATT or do I have to drive to genuis bar to get resolved?

It's probable that the iPhone has suffered hardware damage, and I don't believe an AT&T Store can do anything for you on such issues. You'll need to take or send your iPhone to Apple and pay their out-of-warranty service charge to get the iPhone replaced.
    Regards.

  • New 17' battery capacity 3000mAh less than my old 17

After chewing through the battery far too quickly on a new 17' 2.3 I checked in system profiler/power at battery capacities of the new and old 17 (2.8 core 2 duo from 2009). The new 17 says 8729 mAh and the old one says 11879. That would explain the reason the new machine runs out of juice, but I dont understand the drop in capacity as Apple advertisers it has the same size battery as the older 17's.
Does this 17 have a problem or have I missed something. Ideas please.
Could others with a new or older 17 (unibody) please post your battery capacities to see if I am alone or whether others see the same thing. Thanks.
I love the speed of this machine though. Far far faster.

    The current 17" MBP lists a 95 watt-hour battery.
Assuming the nominal voltage is 10.8 volts like the removable batteries.
    95 watt-hours divided by 10.8 volts = 8.796 ampere-hours
    8.796 ampere-hours times 1000 = 8796 milliampere-hours
    8729 / 8796 * 100 = 99.2% of full charge capacity.
    Your battery is fine.
Look up the specs for your old machine and perform the same calculations.

how can i add videos, movies and tv shows episodes to my ipod nano?I want to know whether i can directly add them through my pc or not without downloading them from i tunes store?

Yes, you can add your own videos to iTunes, then sync them to your nano, subject to supported max resolution limit and file type.  The specs for the 7th gen nano says (I don't know which nano model you have), Video Format Support
"H.264 video: 720 by 576 pixels, 30 frames per second; Baseline, Main, and High-Profile level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 256 Kbps; 48kHz; stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 Mbps, 720 by 576 pixels, 30 frames per second; Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 256 Kbps; 48kHz; stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats"
    http://www.apple.com/ipod-nano/specs.html
(earlier nanos have lower max resolution limits)
So, "HD" video is too high resolution, so iTunes will not sync such videos to the iPod (although they play in iTunes).  If you are asking how to set up iTunes to sync videos in general (regardless of source), please post back.

  • My ipod nano is fully charged (I believe) but every time i disconnect from the computer it turns itself off

My ipod nano is fully charged (I believe) but every time i disconnect from the computer the screen just shuts down and nothing happens. Occasionally it might work but the battery is already as low as it can go and turns it self off. What should i do?

So the iPod only powers on when connected to an external power source such as a USB port on your PC or when connected to a wall charger?  If so, that is a very good indication that your iPod's battery is shot and in need of replacement.
Apple can swap it out for a flat fee or you can send it to a third party repair service for a bit less.

  • HT1435 my 3rd generation iPod nano won't charge

My 3rd generation iPod nano won't charge and when i connect it, it shows up charging then the screen goes black and wont work. Can i get it replaced for a new one? or a different one? What can i do?

    Try these steps listed below.
    1. Run “c:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc” (i.e. *Device Manager*), and leave it open for now for later use
    2. Start up iTunes
    3. Next, connect your iPod.
    4. Go to your iPod Settings and select the “Enable disk use” option from under theSummary tab.
    5. A dialog box will pop up reminding you that you’ll need to manually eject. Go ahead and hit OK
    6. Hit Apply to save changes to the iPod
    7. Quickly switch to the Device Manager window and right-click on any item within the window and select “Scan for hardware changes”
    8. Finally, switch back to iTunes, and try re-syncing your iPod to see if it helped.
It might not also hurt to trash your iPod's Photo cache if it has one (i.e. you sync photos to the iPod).  See this article for information on where to find this folder on your Windows XP machine.

  • TA44551 My iPod nano won't charge.

My iPod nano won't charge.  It's only 2 months old.  I've tried using two different computers (direct connect - no USB hub, Windows 7) as well as a wall plug.  Checked the nano port for dirt.  Don't have a second cord.

Two possibilities that i can think of:
One- Your charger isn't working try getting a new one.
    or
Two- Your iPod needs a new battery. Take it into the apple store to have it fixed or replaced.

  • My ipod nano is fully charged, I put on shuffle and song starts about 1 minute into song it shuts off can anyone help?

My ipod nano is fully charged, I put it on shuffle and the song starts, about 1 minute into the song the ipod shuts, I push the power button and it turns on to play screen I push play and song starts again where it was when it shut off. Can anyone help?

This is usually a good indication that your headphones aren't plugged all the way in.  The white part of the headset should be flush with the body of the Nano and no silver from the headphone's plug should still be seen.  The headphone jacks on the newer nanos are a bit tighter than in previous generations and require a bit of extra force.

Make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and pay $75 USD for an out-of-warranty replacement.

  • HT1726 i have heard that charging less than 80 percent will make the battery lasts longer, does anybody have any idea about that?

    hi,
i have heard that charging less than 80 percent will make the battery lasts longer, does anybody have any idea about that to help me?

I don't know where you heard that statement but it's completely incorrect.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.
