    We loaded our itunes library on the lava lamp, but after separating the lava lamp from the laptop, when we reconnect the two, the laptop doesn't recognize or find the external hd. Any suggestions? thanks!

    Hi Debra
    Don't know if it applies to your situation but a common cause of drives (especially USB) not mounting is the lack of sufficient power.
    This means the drive either needs to be plugged into an external power supply unit or the existing PSU may be faulty and needs to be checked/replaced.

  • How can I distort an image like 3d bubbles.

    Hello everyone.  What I'm wanting to accomplish is making an image (static image jpg) feel like it's a lava lamp.  I found a really good tutorial on creative a lava lamp effect (the bubble movement) here (http://www.premiumbeat.com/blog/video-tutorial-creating-a-lava-lamp-effect/) and I've had no trouble getting that working.  What I want now, is to be able to use that a mask over an image (again, no problem there), but now I want the image that is behind it to "bulge" outward as if the image was part of the bubbles (in a 3d space).  Feeling like the image was "wrapped" around the lava bubbles, or something to that nature.  It doesn't have to be a big bulge, just enough that it doesn't feel like a flat mask (window through to the image behind) and instead feels more like a physical object.
    Is that possible with AE, or would I need to look into actually modeling a lava lamp in a 3D application and texturing it with my image? (I have some 3D experience, but would prefer to use AE if at all possible).

  • Simple shape morphing in Keynote...?

    Hello,
    I am seeking help with what should be a simple task (I reckon), but which is turning out not to be...
    I use Keynote 9 for my teaching presentations. I need to show semi-transparent coloured regions – superimposed onto maps – that change through time, and I would like to make that change into a fluid animation: simple semi-transparent blobs that change shape. That's all! Simple, huh.
    Here are the problems...
    - The shapes are irregular (so Magic Move won't do it)
    - Keynote 9, so no Flash
    - I can get Adobe Illustrator to generate Flash animations and then I should be able to convert them with VideoMonkey into .mp4s... except that VideoMonkey utterly refuses to convert the .swf files generated by Illustrator...  No idea what's going on there... Tried everything I can think of, no go.
    - Downloaded a trial version of Mac SWF Video Converter, but this seems to make mp4s with black backgrounds...  I couldn't see any way to maintain the transparency (and of course Instant Alpha doesn't work on video files)
    - I can generate single animation frames in Adobe Illustrator then use Preview to combine them into animated GIFs, but Keynote will not import the result with a transparent background (yes, I can *make* them with a transparent background, but Keynote renders it solid white on import...)
    - I can convert the animated GIF to a QT movie (using GIF2MOV), but then I lose the semi-transparency on the shapes themselves.
    - I could place each of my Illustrator-generated animation frames onto a separate Keynote slide and have them auto Transition with no Effect – so use Keynote itself as the animation software – but for a halfway decent smoothness in the animation, we're talking a lot of frames and this approach seems pretty inefficient to me...  Not to mention a pain to do (as the image on each slide has to be independently aligned...  take me for ever!)
    For a relatively simple visual effect, this appears to be implausibly difficult to do...    Unless someone out there can see another way of doing it...
    Many thanks for any suggestions.

    Interesting idea...  I managed to achieve the effect I was after (I'll explain how below) only to realize that what I was actually aiming for was even harder than I had realized...
    What I am trying to animate is changing ethnic "territories" over time in South East Asia. These are complicated little shapes that merge into one another and shift about all over the place. As I am dealing with historical territorial (or perhaps more accurately, "distributional") data, I project it onto a purely physical map of Asia that has no modern political boundaries (as they are irrelevant). But this also means (if you are not so good at geography) that your normal visual reference points have gone, and for my students (French university-level language students, not geography majors) I'm sure that the result can be a little difficult to assimilate.
    For the past few years, I have been happily fading different, often visually disjunct arrangements into one another, but I have always been only moderately satisfied with the result: the changes can be hard to track visually, which defeats the whole purpose of displaying them this way...  I wanted the shapes to flow without interruption (like blobs of wax in a Lava lamp! - Theres an image for you!) – to be visually coherent.
    I began therefore thinking about morphing, and Flash animations...
    ...and ran into all the problems that the tiff between Apple and Adobe has currently left us with. (Don't you like the play on words there... tiff... )
    I gave up on trying to animate just the transparent blobs, with a view to overlaying the animation on a static blank map in Keynote, and instead tried animating the whole lot, background map and all, using Adobe Illustrator. The process involves Illustrator's blend tool, and exporting to .swf, then recapturing the .swf files with Snapz Pro X in .mov format, which allowed Keynote to import them.
    BUT! The result was still not what I wanted (picky, eh). Illustrator's blend tool does a superb job of translating any form into any other, no matter how complex, but groups of humans moving over land don't move like that! For instance, a circluar region moving to a coastal region, when "morphed" will progressively adopt the shape of the coastline before reaching it, which is just silly. It looks as if the population being represented distribute themselves to neatly match the coast when still about 500kms away (and over the space of several generations). Call me stickler, but it doesn't look right. It isn't right, and it's not what I need...
    Sure, any such representation is a vast oversimplification in any case, but superimposing such a specifically impossible visual trait onto the presentation runs counter to the whole idea of doing it for me. It should be iconically plausible (even if not accurate).
    So... I'm in a pause...  Looking to understand animating shapes better...
    I like your screen shot idea tho'. I will have to try it out...
    Cheers,
    Colin

  • Notes in iCal

    Is there a way to make notes visible in Day or Week view without opening the event's edit window? Thanks.

    Why not? I can go into Stickies or TextEdit and click a block of text and add notes to it.
    I'm actually just trying out iCal today, because I've been so extremely used to a single paper-based assignment pad and one TextEdit document for all of my respective short and long-range To-Do items, and it's worked well. The option of having pretty colors finally drew me into iCal.
    Alright, but seriously, what version of iCal is Apple working on? Version 4? Let's talk design for a second. For you folks with Snow Leopard previews, add a 6-hour event in Day view, and title it. Can you double-click on the event to add a note like this: "Inquire about who will be running the Live Labs in the Fall, and ask if Joe Schmoe could co-coordinate them. Also consider running maintenance ops" as a note? Because if you could, and just open iCal to see the note, then no extra clicking has to be done.
    What have I been doing before iCal? I have my assignment pad out, paper based, or I have my "ToDo.rtf" file, hit "Spacebar," and I can literally read off all my To Do items (using Quicklook, what could be faster????), here's just an example of how I organize my stuff:
    ========
    ONGOING WISH LIST
    [1] 160 GB ATA-6 (Ultra ATA-100) internal 2.5" hard drive for my case.
    [2] USB Lava lamp. (Or whatever. Just using it as an example.)
    DUE TASKS
    Website: On 3/28/2009: Do final rounds of emails for all the users to remind them of the April Fools prank. We're currently set for the Simpsons joke. If Joe Schmoe says otherwise, then go with his plan. Update to follow here.
    Univ.: Around 4/16/2009: Start reviewing for Quals. Go get copies of old exams and review those questions as well. Notes of troublesome topics to follow.
    PC: Around 5/7/2009:
    [1] Get this PC monitor for cheap (used or new): HP W2207 22". Search around for great deals. Also, eBay for WiFi-USB adapters.
    [2] While waiting for delivery, consider ordering cathodes from PerformancePCs.
    Car: On or about 6/2009: Get front brake pads for car.
    Univ.: Roughly around 7/2009: Inquire about who will be running the Live Labs in the Fall, and ask if Joe Schome will co-coordinate them.
    ========
    Anyways that's just an example of what I see when I hit Spacebar. I'd sure love to convert all that to iCal, but c'mon, this is how I would think most people really use (or ought to use) date planners. I think that effective date planners should have at least the option to view notes aptly in this manner. Personally, I'm regularly updating my notes, and I mean, like almost every couple of days, because I go "Meh... I think that we can move this a day over" or "Actually let's go with the 250 GB version" or "And while I'm out getting brake pads, maybe I should also do this..." etc. etc. And, while I'm at it, why not [1] or [2] notes per event? That's effective right there, and it's really fast doing it in TextEdit or Stickies.
    So, there's really no way to just edit notes like that in iCal? Has there ever been????
    If not, then Apple seriously ought to consider doing so for iCal 4. (Or 3.1, or whatever comes out when they get another Leopard update out.)

  • MSI X48C Platinum OC setting from DDR1200 to DDR1600

    I'm finally back.  I got depressed about that last attempt with my X48C Platinum setup with Corsair XMS3 1600 MHz.
    The problem was that MemTest checked it out fine, but I was getting lock-ups.  On retesting errors would only be reported on the 10th pass --- which took some time to find out.  Everything sat on the shelf and I was the butt of many jokes with my MSI board.
    I've popped for some Mushkin DDR3 1600 MHz and am just burning it in @ DDR1200.
    MemTest is reporting RAM bandwidth @ 5,211 MB/s which is acceptable, however I'd like to see a stable performance around 5,800 MB/s.
    This Mushkin is 9-9-9-24.
    What I'm having trouble with now is the OC setting to get even a single pass with this Mushkin.
    Could you guys help out with some simple, straightforward tweaks necessary for the BIOS for running this RAM @ DDR1600 ?
    Thanks a bunch.
    Klaus.s

    I just received a hand-delivered letter from my MOM, and she says I should include some more information.
    So here goes.
    CPU = x9770 @ 3.20 GHz
    BIOS = 7.4  12082009
    RAM = 4096 or 2x 2048
    Advanced = MPS 1.4
    CPU = Virtualization Technology = Enabled (VMM can utilize additional HW caps) [I don't know what this is or if it's a good thing for stable performance]
    CPU = Execute Bit Support = Disabled (Force XD feature flag to always return 0) [I don't know what this is or if it's a good thing for stable performance]
    CPU = Set Limit CPUID MAXVAL to 3 = Disabled (Some OS's cannot handle >3) [I'm going to install Win.XP.Pro.32-bit]
    Chipset = HPET = Disabled [I don't what this is, or if it's a good thing for stable performance]
    Chipset = DRAM = Non-ECC (Options are ECC or Non-ECC) [I'm kind of onto this.  ECC is for 24x7 service such as web-servers that don't have the option for re-boots, and does a constant hot-sector swap/test thingy to ensure constant CRC checks or some-such, right ?]
    Chipset = Ative State Power Management = Disabled (PCI-E L0 & L1 Link Power state) [I don't know what this is or if it's a good thing for stable performance for my NVidia GeForce GTX 295 -- just one]
    Trusted Computing = TCG/TPM Support = NO (Enable/Disable TCG (TPM 1.1/1.2) [I'm sorry.  I don't know what this is or if it's a good thing for stable performance.  I've got about 3 other books that'd be nice to read in the sun between some gaming, but it'd be kind of nice if there was a nice little reference material in the User Manual instead of having to go to Google for every little thing that may or may not be relevant, especially in some kind of priority ---- as in is this something that is on the front burner and I should turn it on to get some water boiling, or should I just let this simmer on the back burner because it's not really all that relevant and other settings are going to demand attention now for immediate results.  I hope you can get my simple point.]
    H/W Monitor CPU = 38
    H/W Monitor System = 31
    H/W Monitor CPU fan = 1915  [seems a little fast, but maybe after I get everything else tweaked I'll come back to this & turn this down somehow]
    H/W Monitor CPU = 1.272 - 1.280v
    H/W Monitor 3.3v = 3.328
    H/W Monitor 5v = 4.961
    H/W Monitor 12v = 12.144 - 12.232
    H/W Monitor 5v SB = 4.992
    H/W Monitor Icore = 16.xxx - 29.xxx A
    H/W Monitor I 12v = 1.983 -3.320 A
    H/W Monitor 51 - 156%  [Well it seems like the voltages are nice & tight.  Where I have put the "-" is because the values flicker around.  My science teacher would love to have a fit over this, where the decimal is reported to 3 places, but the value in the 1st place would be all that is required, or worse.  Anyhow, at least there are no sparks flashing up or smoke bellowing out.]
    CELL MENU = DOT = Disabled [I'm sorry, yet another of many acronyms that I'm not familiar with.  I guess I'm going to need a link to some FAQ that wasn't available when the manual was being printed.  Sure wouldn't mind though.  It just seems that what is required on my part, isn't just the money to buy all this 'stuff' but the time to invest in sorting through a lot of reading, studying and experimenting.  Sure would be nice to just click on DRAM Frequency = 1600 MHz, and all the associated voltages and whatnot sync to match what is required. Maybe I could take this experience and start writing some comic books or something.]
    CELL MENUS = Intel EIST = Disabled (GV3 Technology) [I'm sorry, just another item in the don't know what this is, never seen it before, don't have it on the other Quad core motherboard, and have at least the modicum of a clue that it might just be relevant to know more about this.  I'm looking forward to reading the forthcoming links.]
    CELL MENU = CPU FSB = 400 (200 - 800) [Wow.  This'd be nice to crank up, but am I simply going to get a constant series of black screens, and then have to press the CLR button on the back of the board, and have to re-enter all the values in the BIOS all over again.  Now this would be some valuable information to know just the range of possibilities, instead of poking around in the dark for endless hours.  Ranges can be good, but maybe just a hint of practical ranges would be just that much better.]
    CELL MENU = CPU Ratio = 8 [Now this is one that I've fiddled around with quite a bit, and the ratio on the MoBo goes all the way to 60, but I have had the guts to save this value on an exit to boot.  With the rocking CPU, I'm sure I can get nosebleeds, but just what that ratio is, well, that would be nice to know a practical value that won't cause black screens or a lump of pins that winds up on the top of the lava-lamp for topical discussion.]
    CELL MENU = Advanced DRAM = By SPD = Enabled [This Muskin is supposed to be some honking RAM, so maybe it's best to leave the chips sort this out for now, but then maybe again, just maybe there are some practical values to insert here that are realistic and more functional than what has been pre-programmed into inert silicon & gold.  Right now I simply do not find it within the grey matter between by ears at this moment.  Not in the User Manual either.]
    CELL MENU = Advanced DRAM = MCH Read Delay (tPD) = Auto (Other choices 4 - 15) [Now I sense that this might be close to the 9-9-9-18 ratings, however I'm not brave enough to just set this to 9.  There seems just too many other settings what with the voltages etc to know just what practical options would be viable, again, without a lot of time to experiment.]
    CELL MENU = Advanced DRAM = 1N/2N = Augo (Other choices 1N & 2N) [Seems like something associated with latency, just that I don't know what is practical & viable.]
    CELL MENU = FSB/MEMORY Ratio = Auto (Other choices are 1.20, 1.60, 2.00, 1.00, 1.33) [Well I do like a short list of options.  What would be nice to understand here in chart like form, is what kind of CPU ratios, RAM speeds, FSB speeds & FSB/RAM ratios are viable.  I've seen these done nicely in review forums or magazines where people are paid by the hour or month to sit with just one motherboard, or maybe get the info from the Engineers that tested the MoBo, and actually print that practical performance chart in the User Manual.  Then I could use this handy guide to follow the edges of practical options and know that I'm going to get a viable result and start putting all this hardware to use instead of idling while I'm in the BIOS on this MoBo, while I'm using another computer to browse the Internet with a lot of my time that I'd rather see invested in actual entertainment.  It isn't that I don't like the guys that provide such valuable handy practical advice here, but seeing that crowd of animated emoticons staring back at me, I'm beginning to feel like some character out of "Waking Life" not knowing if I'm creating some sort of animated dis-reality.  If you haven't seen "Waking Life" it's a thought provoker right up there with the original "Matrix," and was my first exposure to Alex Jones -- he does a marvelous job of driving around in that convertible car that can drive through water.]
    CELL MENU = Adjusted DRAM Frequency = 1200 [this is greyed out.  at least it can run at this speed with a lame no-brainer BIOS effort.  I guess this is the experience that F1 driving teams go through.  My MOM could probably drive one of those @ 160 MPH with my dead, planted in the ground DAD as a mechanic, but to get 240 MPH requires a truck load of information, experienced techies, loads of time, trial, trial, trial, trial & more trial.  But hay, at least next year I can say when someone asks about all these BIOS settings that I can't remember what they were other than to leave them alone -- they worked to get it running -- and fiddling with them anymore isn't going to do anyone any good.  When Charlton Heston returns in the future to this planet overrun with talking apes, they too can pick this up in wonder and won't know any more that I will next year.]
    CELL MENU = Auto Disable DIMM/PCI Frequency = Enabled [This one confuses me, because I thought that the FSB has the RAM, the CPU & maybe even the video card, and managed by the 'HUB' maybe the SB, but I keep mixing the SB & the NB, but one of these.  Then the one 'HUB' communicates to the other 'HUB' which handles the PCI slots, the SATA drives, LAN, sound, PS/2 ports, USB and I guess the eSATA port.  So wouldn't it be best to just leave alone the PCI frequency because all those devices can so easily start to loose track of the triggering voltages & start mixing up the '0'-bits from the '1'-bits and lock up?  Well, I suppose that's coming up with those magical URL links.  My brain could use a bit of exercise, just that I wasn't expecting this much mental activity before the fun began.]
    ANYhoo....  I hope this exercise will drag me kicking & screaming just a little bit closer, not to the doll that wants to take me dancing, but to the games that I have waiting on the DVD's, and be able to drag some arrogant friends over to drool over the frame rate count & response, especially with the up times & lack or roar of noisy fans .... but maybe I'm projecting too much out of this digital hobby.  Maybe I'll get a hint of my future out of this experience.
    Thanks for taking the time to follow my escapade to tweak the DRAM frequency form 1200 MHz to 1600 MHz, get that FSB up a bit, and see what this Quad-Core can handle for a CPU Ratio without cooking the whole combination into non-existence.

  • What's wrong with this dj rollover?

    Hi
    Been trying to do this (mouseOver the LAVAlamp image)
    http://www.istockphoto.com/file_search.php?text=lava+lamp&x=0&y=0&action=file&filetypeID=1 &s1=0&username=&MinWidth=&MinHeight=&color=61%2C1%2C164&form_cs_nw=xxx&form_cs_n=xxx&form_ cs_ne=xxx&form_cs_w=xxx&form_cs_center=xxx&form_cs_e=xxx&form_cs_sw=xxx&form_cs_s=xxx&form _cs_se=xxx&form_cs_tolerance=1
    But get this instead... (mouseOver "71 Countries")

    So what's wrong - what should I tweak?
    Thanks

    Mismatch in data types.
    Status, "=*Book*" is fine, as the content of the status column is text, and the condition is comparing it to a text string (with wild cards)
    But
    Event Date, "=*2011*" compares a Date and Time value in Event Date to a text string (with wild cards).
    Here's a demonstration, using COUNTIF to stand in for COUNTIFS.
    Note that the "book" counts are all correct.
    Note that the first Date count counts both occurrences of Jan 2, 2012 in column A, despite the difference in format used in displaying the dates, while the second counts neither, due to the wild card forcing it to look for a text string, not a Date and Time value.
    For your case, you'll need a COUNTIFS formula with three test-range, condition pairs:
    =COUNTIFS(Schedule :: $A,"=*book*",Schedule :: $B,">="&B2,Schedule :: B,"<="&B3)

  • Need a unique timestamp

    Hi,
    I'm inserting new values in a table that has as primary key a "long" field. To create a unique value I usually get the value with System.currentTimeMillis(), the problem is that I'm running a data migration program and sometimes the value I get is the same for two different records (I thought this was impossible). I would fiz this problem by changing table structure but I'm not allowed.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

    doesn't collide with you or vice versa? Again,
    it's the database's job to do this.Agreed, but if you aren't prepared to shell out big $$$ bucks for Oracle and don't have access to triggers or sequences, then how does one at least get as close as possible? Or do we give up? Also, on the ejb server, the code generating the next id is executing on the server side, so it will easily block all but one client at a time through the grabbing of the next id.
    For that matter, I've even used the concept in VB with Access, where you can't even synchronize code or do anyhting with the DB regarding concurrency protection, and the sheer nature of performing the select and then the insert as close together as possible has at least 'helped' keep issues at bay. The world is full of imperfect solutions ...particularly with the $$$ of Oracle. Sometimes next best thing is worthy of discussion too.
    Actually, I tested the nested select nextId + 1 from ... nested right inside the update statement, and then right away selected the new val afterward, (subtracting one from it to use it) ...and found that because the first update call locks the row, then the next select is performed in the next line of code ...that any concurrent calls would wait for the row to be able to be locked again before other calls would proceed with thier initial update statement ...so I was never able to create a failure in the vb unsynchronized version ...it was tight. If ever the 'practically impossible' where to occur, the db will throw a primary key exception anyway, which was anticipated in the prog also as a guard.
    So far, no one has ever called me to say they have received this error ...and I'm sure they would have. All seems sturdy enough to me ...although yes ...from a purely technical stndpoint, yes ...only the db could guarantee the value was truly unique. But that sounds like to much of a pitch for making Oracle rich to satisfy me.
    Anyhow ...generate your keys with a lava lamp for all I care.

  • Start up screen with multiple Apples then "You must restart" message

    MDD 1Ghz 10.5.8
    Things started running slowly. Got a grayish screen with a black box saying that I need to restart (in a few different languages!). Restarted to a screen with the apple kind of split into pieces in 3 different locations on the screen, with 3 different spinners under each apple. After a while, the screen of grayness returns, saying I need to restart. Rinse and repeat. Same old same old.
    Disk utility tells me the start up drive is unrepairable. Luckily, Disk Warrior builds a new directory, I save the info on the drive.
    New HD installed. Installed new 10.5 from DVD. OK for a couple days. Freezes, restart - now it will only start up to a multi colored, almost lava lamp looking screen with a distorted image of the box you get when you restart and it asks if you want to report or ignore (buttons are inactive).
    Haven't seen this one in the past posts, so I thought I'd put it out there for suggestions. Thanks.

    the apple kind of split into pieces in 3 different locations on the screen, with 3 different spinners under each apple.
    You lost horizontal sync or changed resolution. The screen was not locked in place so it re-drew that stuff so that it wrapped around and showed up in three different places. Not much to learn there.
    Disk utility tells me the start up drive is unrepairable. Luckily, Disk Warrior builds a new directory, I save the info on the drive.
    That's good for the fixing the Directory, but does not rule on whether the data in files is any good or not.
    New HD installed. Installed new 10.5 from DVD. OK for a couple days.
    I guess the data on the Hard Drive was NOT OK.
    Freezes, restart - now it will only start up to a multi colored, almost lava lamp looking screen
    That Setup Assistant screen should only appear when a file on the Hard drive called .AppleSetupDone has been deleted or is otherwise not accessible.
    with a distorted image of the box you get when you restart and it asks if you want to report or ignore (buttons are inactive).
    Crashing again so soon after a new Drive and System re-install is not good news. Difficult problems like this are often memory-related.
    Do you have Apple Hardware Test?
    Do you have any other memory test?
    Have you re-seated the memories? This can remove corrosion.

  • ISight Camera mounted on G4 desktop?

    How can I mount my iSight camera on my G4 destop screen? I wonder if Apple have an adapter for the camera. I do not want to use those glue patches. Has anyone come up with their own adaptor ideas, without having to mount the camera on top of a pile of books, or a Lava lamp like my husband has just done??!!!!! My lovely sleek G4 just does not look quite right with an orange Lava lamp next to it.
    Geraldine

    We bought the SightFlex and are very pleased with it.
    Below is the website where it is available. It only cost $19.99 US, which is a lot less than the Canadian price of almost $50 C. There is a 21" neck on it, so the base of the camera is at least 21" from the desktop. It comes with a 5 foot Firewire cable, so that makes it very flexible for use not only right next to the screen, but up to 5 feet from a laptop. We used it a lot over the holidays and were able to manoeuver the camera among the crowd for gift opening!
    Thanks for the original recommendations.

  • Why can't I start my computer?

    After 4 years. Now when I try to start my Stationary Window 7, I get a error message that it can't find any operating system on my computer. So how can I make it find it and start again or do I have to move over to Linux. I have program I don't want to lose
    that I work with and have no chance to re-install, becouse I can't find all the codes I paid for. Please Help Me

    This is an EXCELLENT question. I finally got my Power PC running again, (since apple no longer supports PPC's AT ALL it takes longer when something goes wrong with everything out of stock), and I'm totally frustrated that I can't either put a ton of short videos in a play list and have it randomly play JUST LIKE a bunch of music. ***? how ******** is it that they didn't say "let's let music and videos play together in a play list if someone wants, the visualizer will just go blank (or play lava lamp type ****) while the musics on till the next vid in the cue..." or AT LEAST  let a playlist comprised ENTIRELY of movies only play if there's some BIG ISSUE with the music/movie mix playlists, wtfe. This is just frustrating and OBVIOUS.

    Obvious power issue effecting all back plane jks. Popping HOURLY (clocked) thru speakers, lites up lamp on doc scanner. Has blown power supply once. "Genius" diag NTF twice B4 power supply blew. Still have same trouble. I made very CLEAR to Genius Bar that it was a hardware issue after they continued to trouble shoot software. I was referred to tier 2 who told me they only worked on SOFTWARE. Does anyone know a more qualified shop who can fix an OBVIOUS mother board issue tracing back to the power supply? I had the same issue with a 20" with 7 visits & had to literally take a video of the trouble before they could figure out the trouble was the video card. From reading the sheer number of posts of the same trouble descriptions going back to 2007, it's all too obvious the path to MSFT is being taken.

  • Strange LAV applications open in mass when using after effects? + other

    Hey guys, when i use after effect tones of little LAV Splitters and Decoders open;
    How do i get rid of this and what does it affect?
    OTHER: also sometimes i when i play back clips in after effect, the clips jumps 5 frames forward then 5 frames back randomly, really anoying and all compostion and clips are 29.97 fps :/ (this usally occurs after , after effects has been opened for a while and move of these LAV icons appear? coinsidence?)
    Thanks a lot for your help,
    Eggy

    - version : CS5.5 update 10.5.1.2
    - no recent updates
    - Windows 7 64bit service pack 1
    - CPU: i7-2600k, 12gb ram, Crossfired radeon HD6870, 2x 1TB internatin HDD
    - AMD CCC 13.11
    - Third party hardware: Twixtor
    - footage recorded with x264vfw - H.264 codec into .AVI file and rendered as H.264
    -N/a
    -I have been editng for around 5 hours and when i RAM preview my clips the fps jumps back and forth and very unfluid (after having told after effects that the file is 29.97fps and not 25fps) I was thinking this might occure with all the LAV things opening when using after effects..
    - yes quicktime is installed 7.6.2
    - other software running: google chrome
    -Twixtor effects installed
    - not using openGL
    -The problem only occures when i RAM preview, i tried rendering and the clips was fine, but i cant edit with constant fps jumps backwards and forwards.
    VIDEO EXAMPLE:
    in preview RAM as it goes up the stairs and around the corner it jumps a lot of frame for some reason, i also showed the orignal clip just to show that it is smooth.

  • [Fixed] Lamp, can't get php to work.

    I followed most of this guide http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/LAMP . I made a test.php file, with echo 'whatever';. When I try to visit it, it's just blank. If I go to an .html document, it works. My access log says a 500 error (Internal Server Error) occurs. Here's my http.conf http://pastebin.com/m42f20e4b
    This is what the access log says:
    192.168.2.88 - - [11/Nov/2007:05:39:46 -0800] "GET /index.php HTTP/1.1" 500 - "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.9) Gecko/20071103 BonEcho/2.0.0.9"
    Error log, says nothing, even though i set it to debug.
    apachectl -t
    Syntax OK
    If I try to use php on the commandline, it works like expected.
    Anyone know how to, if anything, debug this?

    Oh, i'm sorry, My page is index.php not test.php:
    <?php
    echo 'whatever';
    ?>
    But that was not the problem. display_errors = On shows it right away
    Warning: Unknown: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/www/canutes.net/index.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/:/tmp/:/usr/share/pear/) in Unknown on line 0

    Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required '/var/www/canutes.net/index.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in Unknown on line 0
    With this i'll probably get to work it out
