A way of making window look transparent

I'm using the following method to make a window look transparent: whenever a frame is moved, it makes a screenshot of the underliying area and displays it as its background
but, unfortunately, this doen't work in this example ????
public class MyFrame extends JFrame implements ComponentListener{
private Image image;
public MyFrame(){
super();
this.addComponentListener(this);
public void componentHidden(ComponentEvent e){}
public void componentShown(ComponentEvent e){}
public void componentResized(ComponentEvent e){}
public void componentMoved(ComponentEvent e){
try{
image = (new Robot()).createScreenCapture(new Rectangle(getX(), getY(), 200, 200));
repaint();
}catch(Exception ex){ ex.printStackTrace(); };
public void paint(Graphics g){
if(image != null){
g.drawImage(image, 0, 0, this);

May it will not help too much, but I know that a transparent window, isn't transparent, in truth.
What this windows really is doing is a screenshot of desktop background, and printing it at window background. So, I think prefectly normal that problems as your happen somtimes.
best wishes

    Hello, is there a way for making a photo transparent with iPhoto are another software?

    Not with iPhoto, but different apps have different capabilities.
    There are a couple of considerations: How is this transparent image to be used? In a Deskop Publishing environment something like Pages' Instant Alpha might be useful. Or if you're trying to overlay one image on another on a photograph then some editor that supports layers would be required.
    Further, Jpegs as a format doesn't support transparency so you'll need to work ina  file format that does.
    But if you can explain what you're hoping to do we might be able to point you in a more useful direction.
    In order of price here are some suggestions for editors:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
    There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store.
    You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • Is there a way to change the look (skins) of your windows on Mac OSX?

    hello,
    I'm new to the whole mac thing. I don't own one yet, but I hope to soon. But I've wondered if there was a way to changed the look of the windows on Mac OSX. Sorta like using WindowsBlinds from StarDock on the PC? With WindowBlind I can make my windows resemeble OSX or BeOS, Linux, or anything that the skin designers choose (windowsblinds.net).
    Is there a similar program for OSX?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Have a look at this.ShapeShifter
    Just keep in mind what Klaus1 had to say about your system. So have a backup incase things go wrong.

  • Auto correct is making me look like an idiot. I have to go back and psychically spell check my documents now. Is there any way to disable it?

    Auto correct on my desktop Mac is making me look like an idiot. After I type it's changing words into other words I never typed and it even pushes words together that I'd typed a space in between in order to create new words that I never typed which make absolutley no sense.
    Now after I type a document I have to go back and psychically spell check my entire document the old fashioned way to make sure auto-correct isn't making me look like a clown who can't spell.
    Is there any way to disable "auto correct" on the desktop MAC and still keep spell check running?
    The amount of messages I've sent out with horribly misspselled words or errrors as a result  is maddening.
    HELP!!!
    Running OSX 10.9.1

    I had turned off auto-correct in the keyboard preferences, but in Mail all my spelling and grammer choices were grayed out.  The key for me — as Kingoftypos points out — was "For Mail, open a new message/reply/forward. Then go to the Edit menu and scroll down to the Spelling/Grammar."
    It would never have occurred to me to open a new message to be able to change the settings.
    Thanks, King

  • Looking for a way to install Windows Intune via powershell

    I'm very new to Powershell and completely lost on how to do this.
    Looking for a way to install Windows Intune via powershell from a self extracting zip file I will send to remote users. This will also need to run Corp admin level privileges to install.
    Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi Mtirado,
    For Windows Intune issue, I recommemd you can post in dedicated forum for more effective support:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?category=windowsintune
    If you get the initial Powershell script, and the script encounter error or problem, you can post back with current script and issue.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Make an object look transparent in photoshop, low opacity

    Hi. Using PS CS4 on Windows XP.
    Below I have an image on the left with apples showing 4 that are transparent (opacity set to 50%). I am wondering if there is a way to make the apple look transparent, but not transparent to the others so that the apples look more like they do on the right (not going through each other). I understand these  are completely solid, but I was wondering if there is a way to make an object look like it's transparent, but not be able to go through another object. This was really hard for me to explain so please let me know if you have any questions.
    Thank you.

    Of course I figure it out after I write this post even though I have been trying to figure it out for a couple days.
    What I did was put a Levels adjustment layer (dragged the middle slider) on those apples that were fading away after putting the opacity back to 100%.
    The below picture is what I was trying to achieve:
    If anyone else has another solution, I'd be glad to hear it.
    Thank you!

  • I bought a Mac Mini for the family but there's something very odd. Windows looks completely different and I'm completely confused. Is this because of Windows 8? How do I get back to my old Windows!

    Windows looks completely different and we can't use the computer. We're flumoxed, we did some research and read about this new version of Windows - is this the problem? Is there a way to revert to the older version of Windows? Apple has shot themselves in the foot with this change. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Macs don't come with Windows. They come with OS X. If you want Windows, you'll need to install it yourself, or return the Mac and buy a PC.

    Wow, one interface change in iCal and you Mac world falls apart? I have not even noticed the change to it over the other great features included in Lion. Not a hiccup, increased stability and speed on all my Macs, Loving Mission Control, iCloud is a great selling point and Mountain Lion, due out later in the year will yet again change the face of Computing forever. Windows is following along the same path, struggling to keep up (yes I run Windows as well - trecherous isn't it!), but yet we are all doomed because a handful of people don't like the leather bound look of Address Book which will probably change again in ML if a hack isn't written in the meantime. Petty arguement here. Just give feedback to Apple, I am sure it is on the top of their agenda.

  • Popup windows are transparent

    My wife has a display problem on her MacBook, running OSX 10.7.5. When her cursor goes over a menu item on a webpage, the popup window is transparent so that the underlying page shows through.

    Hi there NickelB,
    It looks like you may be experiencing image persistence on your display. Take a look at the article below for some information on avoiding it.

  • Printer Windows look different

    I have 2 win7 pro machines connected to a Ricoh 2550 printer. When we print, our print windows look very different different. My window has the option to choose color and my associates does not. I installed the printer the same way on both machines.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
    Since the issue do not occur in the other machine, you may compare the different settings between them to narrow down the cause.
    In addition, can you capture a screenshot of the print dialog box for further research?
    This issue should be related with printer driver.
    1. You may reinstall or update the printer driver to the latest version.
    2. Manually clear and reset print spooler queue:
       a. Open Services, and stop the Print Spooler service.
       b. Navigate to the folder below, and open the PRINTERS. C:\Windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS
       c. Click/tap on Continue and Yes (if prompted by UAC) to approve opening the PRINTERS folder.
       d. Open Services, and start the Print Spooler service.
    3. Edit the registry, remove all registry entries from below key:
       a. Start Registry Editor if it is not already open. To do this, click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
       b. Locate and then expand the following registry key to view the list of subkeys:
       HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers
    After that, please try to reinstall the printer again.
    I also would like to share the following link with you to check the issue:

  • Fonts in Windows look bad.

    Hi
    Compared to the look of fonts on a "real" PC, fonts in Windows on a Mac in boot camp look pretty bad. I have installed the drivers from the Mac CD after installing windows.
    I use IE to check web sites that I do on the Mac, but the fonts look way worse than on a "real" PC.
    Is there any way to get them looking the same as on a PC?
    I have an Apple 20in Cinema Display, if that makes any difference.
    thanks
    peter

    Not sure if this is the font smoothing issue which is active by default on windows or not. You can try the following and see if it helps.
    RIGHT CLICK on any open portion of the Windows Desktop.
    DISPLAY PROPERTIES Window should open up
    Choose the APPEARANCE Tab
    At the bottome right click on the EFFECTS button
    Check to see that the setting for USE THE FOLLOWING METHOD TO SMOOTH EDGES OF SCREEN FONTS: is set to STANDARD.
    Select OK on the remaining windows and see if that makes a difference.

  • Easiest Way to Migrate Windows Files on Bootcamp Partition to Mac Partition On The Same Computer)

    I have Windows 7 on a Bootcamp Partition on my MacBook Pro. I want to start using Mac OS Mountain Lion full time now and erase the Bootcamp Partition.
    I was going to use the Migration Assistant to move my Windows files (such as bookmarks, email, my enormous iTunes Library etc) over to the Mac partition but the problem is that Migration Assistant must be running on the Windows partition at the same time. Difficult to do when they're both on the same hard drive/computer.
    I know i could just copy all the files i need onto an external drive but I'm afraid i'll miss something. Plus its alot of work. I'm thinking there must be an easier, mostly pain free way of making the move to MacOS permanently. I can't think of what it would be though. Any suggestions?

    Yes, you can simply install the existing drives in the new computer's drive bays. Order is not relevant.
    I don't see any reason why Windows will not boot on the new computer from the existing drive. If Windows considers that the hardware has changed all that's required is re-activation. As far as hardware interfaces all you need do is to install the Windows drivers from the installation DVD that comes with the new computer.
    Snow Leopard will have to be installed on your existing hard drive, and it must be either a later build or later version than what is shipped with the new computer. Otherwise you will have to reinstall Snow on your existing drive using the installer DVD that comes with the new computer. SL by default does an Archive and Install so your drive is not erased when you reinstall OS X.
    If you actually have software that ties its registration to some unique hardware ID, then all you need do is re-enter the serial number. Apple's software does not usually connect the serial number to the hardware, so I doubt you will have any problem with it.
