I keep trying to upgrade my version of Firefox but everytime I download the upgrade I get a message stating that the file is corrupted. Firefox keeps telling me I need to upgrade but I can't seem to make it happen. Can someone help me?

For several months I have been trying to upgrade my Firefox version, which is no longer supported by several software platforms I need as a songwriter, such as Flashplayer, etc. After I download the upgrade all I get is a message that the file is corrupted. I am not very tech-savvy so I need to talk with someone who can explain what to do in layman's terms.

Quit Safari
Go to /Applications/ and launch Adobe Reader
Accept End User License
Now launch Safari and View PDF.

Firefox keeps telling me I need to upgrade it even though it's up to date.

When I start Firefox it tells me I need to upgrade Firefox. When I click Upgrade Now it tells me it's up to date. When I next use Firefox it tells me I need to upgrade it again.
I have Firefox 8.0 installed.

There is a minor update available, to Firefox 8.0.1 . I don't know if it's important enough to be offered through automatic updates though, just new installs.
There could be another reason - that's the old default startup page. Firefox changed its default startup page in 4.0. The page you're using may be (wrongly) assuming that if you're looking at it, you must still be on Firefox 3.6.
If you [[How to set the home page#w_restore-the-default-home-page|restore the default home page]], you should get the new home page instead. It's not much different to the one you're using, but it ''should'' give more up-to-date information.

Why does my bank website load in an old XP machine with 15.0.1 and will not load on win7 now, after I upgraded to 17.0.1

I upgraded to 17.0.1 on a Win7 machine and now I can't access my bank website. I checked to see if the website was available on my old XP machine with 15.0.1 and I had no problem getting on my bank website. I tried again with my new machine, and I can't even get to the site, much less the sign in page.
There are now a number of websites that I can no longer access, I get an "Unable to connect" page. I didn't have this problem BEFORE I upgraded to 17.0.1. And, something else is weird, when I do a google search, I usually can't click on the first link in the search results in 17.0.1, and sometimes other links.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

I have downloaded OS X Mavericks three diff times. Deleting each copy prior to download. It will not install over the latest Mountain Lion. Continually says I must have downloaded a corrupt or bad copy. It cannot verify the file.
What info is needed to help solve this and I will submit it.

What kind of network are you on? Home network or corporate? Sometimes corporate network can have proxy servers or other things that could corrupt the downloads.
Others here have noted they have issues if their system is set to something other than English. What language is your system set to? Off chance on this one but I seem to recall seeing something so I figured it woudln't hurt to mention.

Need to upgrade from Internet Explorer to Firefox

I'm running Internet Explorer 5.2 for Mac, and downloaded Firefox 2.0.0.2, but when I try to install it, I get "Image name: Firefox 2.0.0.2--Image format: UDIF read-only--Checksum: CRC32 $6DBEAAAF INVALID---Unable to verify "Firefox 2.0.0.2.dmg"
In the "Open with App" box, under "to open UDIF device", I get "Disk Copy 10.1--created with: "not available"
If I disable the checksum, I can get the Firefox logo to appear, but when I double-click on it, a box appears saying "Firefox has unexpectedly quit"
Possibly the download was incomplete, as I have to use a dial-up where I'm lucky to get 28.8K, but it said "complete"

Have you considered upgrading to a newer version of OS X?
Here is some information, to assist you in that endeavor.
Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
Once an OS has been installed, the point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.8 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Jaguar and Panther, are no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
If you know what to look for, Jaguar Full Retail CDs, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, AppleRescue, FastMac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Jaguar and Panther are only on CDs, not DVDs.
The discs should look like the images in the above links, unless purchased from AppleRescue.

Before upgrading to any OS X version, check to see if your Mac needs a Firmware Update.
If one is required, you must start the computer from a Mac OS 8 or Mac OS 9 System Folder on the computer's hard disk, not from a CD, in order to install it.
Once Jaguar 10.2.x is installed, you can use the 10.2.8 Combo Update,
or if Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version of either OS.
If your Mac meets the System Requirements for Tiger, you could also consider installing that.
And then use the PPC 10.4.8 Combo Update, or the Intel 10.4.8 Combo Update.

You can try to restart the iPhone to exit recovery mode.

Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.

Keep getting lock ups. Now its a black screen and will not respond even when unplugged .

you probably have a bad video card. The decision would be up to you but for that PC because it was so unique I'd look for an Authorized HP Repair facility in your area, that way they will know how to take it apart. The video card in this system has a heat sink attached to it as well and it pretty involved. You can replace it on your own, but it would be pretty involved. Here is a link to some instructions on how to open the case.
