A600 setup with Verizon TV

I wanted to start this subject to see if any end users have gone from Direct TV to Verizon Cable TV successfully.
I had a customer that was sold the Motorola QIP2500-3 Set Top Terminal. After going through Windows media center setup the customer was able to get video to windows media center but could not use the A600 remote control to change channels on the Verizon Box. They could not use the mouse to change channels either. They could use the Verizon remote to change channels successfully.
When using the A600 with Direct TV the customer had all of these functions working flawlessly as well as the record function of the Windows Media Center Software.
To me it sounds like the Infrared transmitter and controller is not programmable to the Verizon Box
Any Suggestions or detailed technical explanation would be appreciated.

  • Email photos from iPhoto 8 with Verizon Fios internet

I am totally new to the wonderful mac world. I have a new iMac with Verizon Fios internet. When I try to automatically setup for emailing photos it tries to setup something with "incoming.yahoo....
How do I go about setting up email sharing of photos?

    mrmole
To email photos from within iPhoto you need to use one of the following applications for email:
    1. Apple's Mail (it comes with your Mac)
    2. Entourage
    3. AOL
    4. Eudora
Only these four apps allow direct emailing from within iPhoto. You make your choice in the iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> General pane.
OF course, you need to set up these clients to work for email with your own email settings. Fir details on how to do that you'll ned to consult the Help on the particular app.
If you use Web-based email, you cannot email from within iPhoto. In that case you can use one, some or any of the following:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto. With 10.5 you can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Lion email does not work with Verizon FIOS - Eudora does

Recently I have not been able to send email using my Verizon outgoing server on the Lion email client. I can receive OK, but the server keeps rejecting something and a window pops up asking me to select a different SMTP server.
Before I called Verizon, I decided to see if there were any free eMail clients I could use as a test and the new Eudora showed up when I did a "Bing" search.
I just installed Eudora and after a very quick setup, I sent a message using the Verizon server without any problem, the mail coming into both the Eudora and Lion mailboxes.
So the problem is not with Lion, but with the Lion eMail client. I know Verizon does not officially support Macs, but since Eudora works, I have localized the issue to the standard Lion email client.
Anyone else have a similar experience with Verizon or some other ISP in not being able to send eMail?
First, Eudora is an answer. Second - I would like to resolve the problem with the Lion eMail client - it must be some obscure server setting. I know that it used to work, but I am not sure whether it was with Lion or Snow Leopard. Usually when I send an eMail, I use Cloud and was using MobileMe so I did not notice whether or not Verizon's SMTP server was working.
I noticed it today when I could not reply to an eMail that came in on one of my Verizon accounts.
    Here is the Eudora URL
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Eudora_Releases
Click Mac Disk Image and voila! there you go.
    (works for me)

Thunderbird might work, but as long as Eudora is working I am happy.
The built in client used to work with Verizon which is what puzzles me.
I think you are right, the MacMail app is primarily for cloud these days.

  • Done with Verizon - BTW, TY Smith6612!

Well, I gave Verizon another two weeks while I called up Comcast to get another line setup and as to be expected, next to nothing was done on Verizon's end to fix the issue. I noticed that my speed went down on speedtest.net which is likely why I haven't been experiencing the frequent disconnects, but now my internet connection is so slow that whenever I go to utilize my banks website, it alerts me that my internet is so slow that I should consider utilizing the mobile site through my phone. Impressive, Verizon.
Verizon, I hope you read this (and will make sure to give an identical speech to the sales rep that closes my account here). Every experience that I've ever had at any capacity with Verizon has been utterly unsatisfying. I've had my forum posts closed to where they've been "escalated" and more or less, nothing was done. No phone calls, no action taken, nothing. I don't enjoy having a 2500 ms response time between myself and google and I really don't appreciate being kept in the dark throughout this entire experience.
To end on a good note though, this forum has been extremely helpful...much more helpful than Verizon's customer service. I'd like to give a special shoutout to Smith6612 for looking over a few things for me and attempting to help as much as possible. Much appreciated my good man.

  • Successful DSL Setup With Westell 6100G and Linksys WRT54G Router

After a week of searching I finally figured out how to get DSL setup with my Linksys router.
All I could get out of the Westell > Linksys router configuration was DSL downloads limited to less than 0.2 Mbps.   No matter what I did on the router settings that was it.    I had a second eHome router that easily configured and achieved the 1.0 Mbps download speeds so that confirmed Verizon and the Westell modem were not the issue.
So what's wrong with the Linksys router configuration?    I had the Linksys WRT54G router Version 5.   Checking the firmware it was the original release of 1.0.0.   (See your routers instructions which can be downloaded from Linksys for how to check your firmware).   I downloaded the latest firmware version for this router model and version number.    Following the Linksys instructions I flashed the latest firmware 1.02.8.   Now I had an updated modem ready to be configured for DSL.
Assuming you already followed Verizons instructions to set the Westell modem to bridge mode setup your router to work with it.
Step 1: Go into the modem typing its address... Default 192.168.1.1   leave the ID blank and the default password is admin.
Step 2: Go to the Basic > Setup screen.
Step 3:  Select PPPoE and the screen menus will change
Step 4:  Enter your Verizon ID  (exclude @Verizon.net)
Step 5:  Enter your Verizon Password.
Step 6:  Go to the bottom of the screen and hit Save.   Wait and the router will indicate it was saved.
That's it.  All you need are the three entries above to get it working.   Turn off the PC, Router and Westell.   Turn on the Westell, then the router and then boot the PC.   It should work at this point.    I now get the full DSL speed for both downloads and uploads.
The bottom line....check you router, especially the older models for updated firmware before you give up on it.

Glad top see you found a configuration for your Westell and Linksys to function.  Thanks for posting resolution.

  • "Bad Authentication" when pop or smtp with Verizon e-mail using Evolution

I'm using Evolution 3.2.3 as my e-mail client.
It's worked with literally every ISP and mail service other than Verizon.
I followed the instructions on the Verizon support e-mail client setup:
    Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.verizon.net
    Incoming Server Port Numbers: 995
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.verizon.net
Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 465  Why is this important?
Make sure SSL encryption is enabled for the incoming and outgoing mail server.
But if I try to receieve or send e-mail I always get a "Bad authentication response from server" error.
Has anyone ever got Evolution to work with Verizon?
I searched and it seemed to work up until the year 2013.

For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up fictional account "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
    Incoming Server: pop.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 995
    Outgoing Server: smtp.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes (You can set it to use the same settings as incoming, or manually enter the username and password.)
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 465
If you are given the option anywhere for Secure Password Authentication (SPA), set it to No, Normal, Plain, etc. - This can also be listed as "Authentication type" in some clients.
These settings should work unless you have a Verizon/Yahoo account, in which case the server names are: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net -and- outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
If all of that is set up and it's still not working, your best bet is to provide a screenshot of your settings (with personal information blocked/removed) and any errors you are getting.

  • Cannot use Outlook2010 to connect to Gmail with Verizon ISP

I have a laptop that works just fine using Outlook2010 to connect to my Gmail POP3 account from multiple locations except my home where Verizon is my ISP.  I read several threads that Verizon blocks certain ports.  However, I use a SSL connection with incoming port 995 and outgoing port 465.  Neither of these was mentioned in the threads as being blocked.
Called Verizon tech support, which was hopeless.  The tech claims they only help with Verizon email.  He sent me to the Verizon premium service, which just wanted to sign me up for a monthly support contract.  The "tech" claims Verizon does not block any ports and that the problem is on my end.
I am ready to drop Verizon as my ISP.  Any ideas how to fix this?

Welcome to the forums.  This is  a place where customers help each other.  If you want a response from Verizon, you'll need to contact them using the options provided by the "contact us" link at the bottom of these pages.
I've never heard of Verizon blocking any ports except maybe outbound SMTP to non-Verizon servers on un-protected port 25.
I uses gmail's IMAP server over FiOS without any problems.  I'm using Thuderbird with port 993 (SSL/TLS) for IMAP and 465 (SSL/TLS) for SMTP.
Are you using Windows?  It can be setup to have different security and firewall settings for different connections.  That might be an issue.  While unlikely, you could have an odd setting in your router.  And of course, it could be a Outlook configuration issue.
If you post more details, some of us here might be able to offer more specific suggestions.
    Good Luck

  • Imap email set up with verizon

How do you set up a email account as imap with verizon?

TNS_2, you are correct in noting that with this setup, any email sent to a Verizon account would not be received, and a separate acount in Outlook would need to be created in that solution.  Please note that I did say in the opening sentence that this setup was "to work with my third-party (non-verizon) email...."  I actually don't use the Verizon email address(es) assigned to me which is why I only focused on these particular settings in order to receive email from a non-verizon account.
If folks don't use a third-party email address and use only their Verizon account, then in the "Incoming mail server" setting they would enter "pop.verizon.net", and put their Verizon email address in the "User Information" and "Login Information" sections.  If a user has multiple email addresses, then it is appropriate to set up multiple accounts in Outlook, and set the "Incoming email server" field to the corresponding POP server for that email address.  The SMTP setting would remain "smtp.verzion.net".
    Thank you for your clarification.

  • I regret even thinking about signing on for another 2 years with verizon

I have been very stable in my relations with my cell phone providers; however, Verizon has proven to be a big let-down.  I started my cell phone usage years ago with Cellular One who I had no issues with concerning plan provisions or bills.  Altell bought out Cellular One and I had probably a handful of problems.  Now that Verizon has bought out my Altell, I have had to call EVERY SINGLE MONTH for some screwed up something.  Yes, I had a lot of problems that the solution always seemed to be "to upgrade to a Verizon phone and plan."  And apparently I enrolled in the "surprise plan" from Verizon because every time I get a bill "SURPRISE!" I have been duped on one thing and charged outlandishly for it.  I had a gentleman from a local provider talk me into recontracting with Verizon to upgrade my phone and he ensured he would personally see to it that I was taken care of and the problems as before would not burden me any longer.  Seems, however, that even he can't fix it all.  Some of the issues are so deep-seeded in the company's greed for a monopoly, that they are untouchable by the employees that actually care about their customers' satisfaction.  I have been billed time and time again for services that I never used and billed extensively for services that were free thru Altell (Verizon omits these differences in their sales spill).  I am aware that this message will probably not get posted, so for those who do read this, think strongly about making things right by the customers that otherwise would be loyal and sing your praises.  I am the type of person who likes to post positive reinforcements about products and services and it breaks my heart that I have nothing positive to say about this company.

I had a similar experience with Suncom (later bought by AT&T).  I was about to start school in Blacksburg, VA.  The salesman asked me what the nearest city was and I told him Roanoke.  He looked at his list and said yes, they have coverage in Roanoke, so I didn't have to worry about roaming - I would always be on the network.
Well, Blacksburg is 20 minutes from Roanoke and, of course, they did not have coverage in Blacksburg.  By the time I found out, it was past the 30 days (and I'm not sure I even knew about the 30 days at the time anyway.)  So I wound up having to pay $10 or $20 extra per month for a pool of 200 roaming minutes until they got coverage in Blacksburg about six months later.  They further antagonized me when, even though I had it setup for them to bill my credit card automatically, they would send me late notices.  It was ridiculous - they could bill my credit card whenever they wanted to so if it was late, it how in the world was it my fault?
After a year of putting up with it and getting angry every time I talked with one of their support people, I switched to nTelos.  They were dirt cheap, but their signal quality was horrendous.  When out in the middle of nowhere, I was often having to borrow a phone from someone with Verizon.
Finally, I bought a Droid and switched to Verizon and between Verizon wireless and FIOS for my house, I'm paying less than I was all together with my old cable provider + nTelos, so I'm very happy with Verizon.
    TedKord wrote:
Fifteen or more years ago, when I went to get my family's first  small cell phones (I had a bag phone prior-whadda convenient thing to own!! ) I picked up two clamshell phones on the ATT network.  This was back in the days or mucho roaming.
The salesman assured me that ATT's coverage in our area was perfect. He also told me that there was a 50-mile radius around my home address in which there would be no roaming charges.
Well, needless to say, the coverage was awful. Once, my wife was in her car with our daughter. I was in my car about 2 miles away when her car broke down. She couldn't call me. No signal.
So, I called within the 30 days to cancel the contract, as was allowed. The ATT CS rep took down my information, made some token offer to keep my service, then told me how much I owed. There were over $100 in roaming charges. I had never been more than 10 miles from my home address since I'd gotten the phone.
I told her that there should be no roaming charges, I was within the 50 mile radius no-roaming area. She told me that there was no such provision. I complained that I couldn't get a signal almost everywhere I went with the phone. She informed me that ATT had no cell towers in my area, so I shouldn't expect a signal. I asked her why they sold service in an area where they had none, and told her that the salesman had assured me that ATT coverage saturated my area and that there was no roaming within 50-miles of my home.
She informed me that ATT wasn't responsible for what their salesforce said. I informed her I wasn't responsible for the roaming charges, and I wasnt paying a penny of it, so she might as well send me to collections right now. After another 40 minutes of arguing on the phone, she erased the charges. I returned the phones, got two from Verizon and have been with them ever since. (Probably going to be with Sprint come Feb. 2011)
Dishonest behavior isn't limited to one carrier. All have unscrupulous people, and good people, too.

  • Progams that work with Alltel and Suddenlink are no longer working with VERIZON (IRC)

I have worked this issue TO DEATH already and am getting FED UP!
I have been polite and nice and called customer support to get very short and not very explicit answers to this issue.
Complaint #1: When I call technical support and ask questions more complicated than " How do I plug in my computer?" they inform they are transferring me to TECHNICAL support.  Okay so who did I call in the first place if not tech support.
Problem:  IRC ( Internet Relay Chat)  Is one of the main things that I enjoy doing online.  Some do games, some do work.  I do it all through my little IRC program.  When I was with Alltel and had my little blackberry pearl.  I could even get onto irc just fine that way.  Getting on via a cell phone is kind of a pain.  Small keyboard and lots of typing isn't my idea of that relaxing but.. okay whatever at least I could get on.  Since Alltel became Verizon I was told to upgrade my phone to the brand new Blackberry Curve.  Well now IRC didn't work.  I upgraded to the LG Vortex.  Now it works on my phone.  So I upgraded my wireless card too and IRC worked just fine for a long time.  NOW we are back to the same old same old.
For those of you not familiar with the program just wiki it.  I have been told by NUMEROUS customer support reps that this program is not being blocked so this is the list of things I went through to make sure it was indeed NOT me or my computer.
Step 1: System restored before most recent updates to the last date that it was working.
    NO GO
Step 2: Disabled firewall and virus software temporarily and even turned down my security on my browser
    NO GO
Step 3: Re updated my computer and updated my firmware on my MIFI2200 card.
    No go
    Step 4-7 Called customer Support
    NOPE.
Still waiting.  I am paying for a service that is not providing.  My entire family was with Alltel and is now with Sprint.  I just keep asking myself why am I still with Verizon when all we ever do is fight.  I hate to admit it to the kids but I think it's time for a divorce from you if we can't get this issue resolved.  Before upgrading to these devices I even asked store reps if irc programs would work and they assured me " OH YES!  With these new upgrades things will be better than ever!"
I realize to some this seems like not a very big deal, but when I am paying for a service so that I can come home relax, maybe take a few art commisions while chatting on irc and all the sudden I either can't use it or can use it when I couldn't before it's amazingly frustrating.  I have taken my computer over to other people's houses to see if turning my security all the way back up as well as my firewall made a difference, but on any provider OTHER than verizon I can connect just fine.
Tell me WHY Verizon.  Tell me why you either can't fix this.. or won't fix this.
Security issues?  That's my problem.  If I want to connect to a DNS server based program that connects via different ports.. that should be MY decision.  You should NOT get to make that choice for me.
It's amazing I went to the customer support for IRC and they told me that Verizon doesn't allow you to use IRC.  I have checked NUMEROUS boards and discussion forums only to have them tell me that VERIZON does NOT allow you to use IRC.   However when I talk to Verizon they say " No it must be you.. "  Well I am not taking that excuse anymore.  I've done my share of work on this problem.  Now it's your turn.  Sorry to be rude.. but I paid for the mIRC program, and take artwork commisions over it as well.  I probably pay more for verizon's service than I would with sprint (so says the rest of the family).
Please give me some real answers and real tech support.
    Thanks for any help.

I choose option 3.  The moment I talk to them about anything more complicated than the bare basics of getting connected they tell me they will transfer me to " tech support."  Very frustrating lol.  I always wonder who I was on the phone with prior to that because it says Tech support but clearly there must be different levels of their support lines.  Sometimes I get someone who will talk and work with me, but generally I get someone who says " Okay I have down your issue and I'll pass it along.."  then they hang up.  However I have been transferred twice in one sitting from "tech support" to Tech support.  So I dunno.  I think they don't have an answer and so they run me in circles.

  • Problems with Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Tour BlackBerry OS 4.7.1.61 update:

Problems with Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Tour BlackBerry OS 4.7.1.61 update - I was anxious to download the update to see if it addressed the sticky trackball problems and the low volume issue when using a blue tooth device. However, in the process of updating my BB Tour yesterday, the install stopped on the 8th out 12 updates. After a couple of 'retrys', the BB error message on the desktop came up which instructed me to: i) disconnect the device, ii) restart the computer. iii) restart the loading process and, iV) restore my data by loading the loader back-up file using Restore. Unfortunately my Tour was left without any software and the Desktop manager couldn't recognize it. The error message on the Tour was 503. Called Verizon Wireless tech and bottom line, the only fix is a new Tour, which they're sending me. Anyone else having issues with the update? Also, does it address the trackball and blue tooth issues?

I had issues with the trackball and had to have my Tour replaced.  I was told this model does not have a removable trackball so the entire phone has to be replaced.  My current one is working OK but does stick a bit.  Seems to get worse over time.  My wife's tour is newer and so far she is not experiencing the problem.  Have not experienced a problem with the Blue Tooth volume.
I have another issue with this upgrade that I am wondering if anyone else has seen.  My wife has the Tour as well.  She was prompted to do the upgrade and went through it.  It appeared to work except it blew out her Contact Alerts.  When we put them back in we can no longer get the sound to play when she receives an SMS message in her holster. Vibration works but doesn't do any good when it is in her purse.  Phones calls, calendar alerts, alarms all work in holster.  As soon as we delete the contact alert the default SMS alert will play in the holster.  If she takes her phone out of the holster the Contact alert will play.  My phone is still running 4.7.1.40 and this function works fine.  I am thinking about trying to put her's back to my version if possible but not sure the best way to go about this

    computer osx is 10.5.8
    itunes version 10.
I do not wish to go to ios 7 at this time.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue continues, contact the carrier to troubleshoot the network connectivity issues.

  • My misadventures with Verizon FIOS

FIOS recently became available to my building, a 125 apartment condo.  A salesperson,{edited for privacy}and an accomplice, came to sign up new accounts and they had a field day.  The only competition is Comcast and residents were eager to be free of their evil clutches.  [management won't allow satellite, probably illegal.]  The lobby was crowded with potential customers and I asked Sheridan to call me cuz I didn't have time to wait.
He called from his car phone and signed me up on his drive home!  I told him my needs:  least expensive and no frills TV to be used with TiVO (requiring a cable card) and fast internet, 25mb.  He seemed unhappy that he couldn't sell me more but I knew what I wanted.  He said he'd sign me up for the Spanish package, La Complexion, or something like that, because it was the only no frills package.  I told him no hablo espanol, but that seemed to be no problem.  Installation would be the upcoming Saturday.
Okay, I could go on endlessly here, but the installation date was completely botched by Sheridan, not to mention he didn't return calls or emails.  ["I'm not just here to sell you the service, I'll always be here to help with any problems."  Yes, he said that!
The installer came out the following Saturday even though Sheridan told me there was no way the installation could be done until further notice because there were issues with the wiring.  It's a good thing I was home, well, maybe not.
Meanwhile, I never got any paperwork or an exact cost, only an estimate.  The installer did a good job and got the job done in 2 hours.  The first sign of a problem was when he asked which phone I wanted to hook up.  Huh?  I didn't ask for phone service.  The installer said he didn't have access to what plan I had, which didn't seem to be an issue.  Next sign of a problem was when I was able to get all the premium channels.  Sheridan seemingly signed me up for a tad more than I asked for.
I called Verizon to figure out what was going on.  Sales supervisor {edited for privacy} listened with seeming disbelief to my story, sympathized, empathized and apologized profusely, and said he would call back in 2 days.  Stupid me believed him.  I forgot I was dealing with Verizon.  He couldn't access my records right then and there since my account was too new and not on the system.  But he did determine I was signed up to the most expensive plan.  It's now 7:30pm and no call from Nick.  Meanwhile, I've had service 3 days and today, no TV.  Tech support couldn't figure out what the problem is and they have to send out a technician.
Can I just say shades of Verizon DSL, the worst customer service nightmare I ever had!  Fortunately, Comcast hasn't disconnected service yet and yes, I'm going back.  I would have thrown out the FIOS modem and router by now but I left my own router at work thinking I was done with it and was going to give it away.  Or maybe I'll keep the Verizon router, it's very nice and I deserve it.  There really is truly something wrong with this company.  I really wish an OTA antenna worked from my apartment, but I think, for now, it's back to the less evil Comcast.

to gsusser: "He called from his car phone and signed me up on his drive home!"
----I personally think cell phones are the worst invention.  That scenario that you described is unfortunate.  Personally, I would only sign up for services by calling the business number if I didn't have the time to wait for a rep in the lobby so then that way, everything can be documented instead of having miscommunication on someone's cell phone while that person is driving....just saying.  Driving while speaking on a cell phone is so dangerous.  I just don't think I would go along with signing up for services in that manner.  In a way, it's understandable how everything got messed up given the way this sales person handled it because without a computer system right there for him to document your order and to create a record, it leaves too much room open for a  "he said/she said" scenario and miscommunication about what you really want.  It sounds to me like he was looking to make more sales by any means necessary, probably due to a sales quota that he was trying to meet.
At this point, before switching back, you could follow through with having a technician to come look at the problem since you have made it this far.  It's only a suggestion and hopefully you could get a 4 hour time frame instead of an all day appointment for that.
I'm going to be sending a written complaint soon to Verizon's corporate office about some other issues I have had with their customer service.

  • Why would I stay with Verizon?

    Hello,
I am just writing to get this on file how displeased I am with Verizon. I switched back to Verizon just over a year ago because of the service coverage Verizon provides. I will be leaving Verizon when my contract is up because of the poor quality equipment Verizon chooses to supply. My first phone was a LG Cosmos    II, and it had several issues. The primary problem with the phone was it has a mind of its own and always shuts itself off. The first phone also found it interesting to delete all the information off the phone and take about ten minutes to reboot, it was warrantied. The second phone had the shut down issue also, so it was replaced. I'm not sure if I had three or four total, lost count, but you get the point. The phone was replaced with a Samsung Intensity III. The Samsung after being charged one morning was so hot you could have probably cooked your breakfast off it. It also quit receiving text messages at this point, so for kicks I removed the battery and put it back in, then turned on the phone. The phone booted up and I received about fifteen messages or so, one being a few weeks old. The other thing about this phone is it needed to be charged usually three times a day, so it spent more time on the charger then it did in my pocket. This phone has since been replaced. I would also like to add that I did pay out off pocket for a battery and back cover for this phone. The new phone arrives, I install the battery and charge it up, this phone will only hold a charge for tops of thirteen hours. I call Verizon and customer service is sure that a new battery will do the trick. The new battery comes in, I charge it up, and it still won't hold a charge. I call Verizon, they send out another phone. On one of my talks to Verizon about my Cantenna that works about ninety five percent, the tech feels I need a battery charger, so its new now too. I'm also informed that I would need to pay to have a service guy come out to work on something that's been glitchy since day one (home fusion). The system goes out randomly for five to fifteen minutes at a time. I have had several answers to this problem and the closest to getting it working was replacing the router. This helped out a ton, I was told the tech needs to be out when the service is acting up, and I would need to pay one hundred and fifty dollars because I did not purchase a service agreement.  Sorry, not going pay to get something fixed that didn't work great  to start with. Back to the phone. The new phone comes in and I put the battery in but decide not to activate it just in case. The new phone held what appeared to be a charge for twenty four hours. I activated the phone, and I am now charging the phone twice a day. So there is more then likely a programming issue. Called tech support they agree to a possible programming issue, decided there was not much more Verizon could do, may be i should contact Samsung or Verizon could contact them, but it might take some time for Samsung to get back with Verizon. I call Samsung, explain what's going on, they are willing to repair the device but I won't have a phone for five to seven business days, I would not call this acceptable . Called support, they inquire about me paying to upgrade to a smart phones, not interested in paying money to replace a phone that has not worked properly since day one (over a year) They moved me over to level two tech support, explained the issues, this tech decided to send another phone. Ok, I'm quite sure if three is not the charm four won't do much better, but we'll try.
    So, here's what I figure
Probably more than eight hours on the phone with tech support.
Between the Home fusion and the phone six or seven trips to the post office.
X amount of missed or lost phone calls
Not sure about how many missed text messages
Paid for a battery and back cover for the Samsung to replace a crappy LG
an offer to pay to upgrade to a phone that would have been free when I switched to Verizon. Not to mention I paid a few bucks out of pocket to get the first LG. I think it was eighty dollars but there was a rebate.
There were a few smart phones for free.
It also sounded like I might be extending my contract, that was the feeling I was getting.
I would be better off buying a used phone off Ebay just to limp through my contract.
I didn't even mention my wife's phone has been acting goofy but she is afraid she will end up with a phone like mine.
So after more then a year with Verizon and not having a reliable phone I should even think about paying to make something work that should have from day one?
All I wanted at this point was to send an email and Verizon wants me to put up with more on the phone or send a snail mail.
There are enough providers out their that when my contract is up I will look for a more reliable service.

I say this kindly but please learn how to paragraph when posting to message boards.  Makes it so much easier for people to read.  If you are not happy with  a company that is what you should do is find another one that suites your needs.  Also any verizon branded phone will work so you can see if  family or friends have one laying around you can borrow until your phone is fixed.  I have 3 basic phones here in case one of ours breaks.  When my husbands phone was on the way out last year I bought him a used one for $10 that has worked fine all this time.  Mary
