About "Decentralized Administration" of EP 60

We heard it's possible with EP 60 a so called Decentralized Administration.
Where can I find documentation on it ?
Someone already experimented it ?
Which are the limits or the controindications of this feature ?

  • Few basic questions about database administration

    Hello,
I have a few basic questions about database administration.
    1. I switched one of my oracle instances to archivelog mode. I just cannot locate the archive log files on my windows system. The %ora_home%/ora92/database/archive directory is desperately empty...
2.What is the tools01.dbf datafile used for?
3.What is the undotbso1.dbf datafile used for?
    Thanks in advance,
    Julien.

    1. The archive log location needs to be specified in your init.ora file. By default, Oracle will place the archive files in either ORACLE_HOME/dbs or ORACLE_HOME/database.
    2. The tools01.dbf file belongs to the tools tablespace which should be set as the default tablespace for system. It primary purpose is to hold Oracle Forms and Reports database objects, however, it should also be used for holding other non sys database objects such as the perfstat (statspack) or other third party database schemas e.g. quests sqllab.
    3. undotbs01.dbf file belongs to the undo tablespace.

Have you read the Oracle documentation? That is the always the best place to start. The Concepts guide first, then either the SQL ref or the the Admin guide. But don't succumb to the temptation to skip the Concepts. we all need to understand the basics.

  • I have a question about multiple administrative accounts on the same computer.

Let's say there are two users of the same computer. Each has his/her own separate admin account so they can log in under their own account. When you perform certain housekeeping functions on this computer like software updates, safari reset, cleaning up cache and cookies, virus scans and Time Machine backups, do you have to perform all of these functions for each admin account?

    JazzmanJohn wrote:
do you have to perform all of these functions for each admin account?
software updates, virus scans and Time Machine backups  - No
Although deleting a virus infeced file in another admin account will present a small problem.
safari reset, cleaning up cache and cookies, - Yes
These things are stored in each user account, thus must be cleaned in each user account.
For instance if you want to reset Safari or clean it's caches that will have to be done in each user account.
Doing it for one doesn't do it for other accounts.
However system cache cleaning and using some softwares to clean browser caches may use Sudo or "root" priviledges to access all accounts and OS X.
For instance, you can try to see if OnyX will clean all the Safari accounts caches at once, but I doubt it will actually reset Safari in all accounts, might not get the cookies neither.
    https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11582/onyx
Thing to keep in mind is, altought your Admin, your not Root. Only root has complete access to all files.
Admin can use SUDO, which is a timed window of root access. Safari doesn't use SUDO, it's designed to function only in the account it's running in.
So to reset Safari, it will have to be done from within that account, unless you know where the files are to be deleted, then you can use SUDO in Terminal.

  • Questions about the administration in Solaris 10

    Hello friends,
    I have the following queries:
    1. How do I create a project to a user in solaris?
    2. How do I assign memory (maximum and minimum) to a user in Solaris?
    3. How do I check my free memory Solaris operating system?
    4. How to verify that processes a user is using Solaris?
    thanks

How do I create a project to a user in solaris?
You can project with projadd command. There is an option to assign this project to a uers(s) in Solaris while creating project itself.
How do I assign memory (maximum and minimum) to a user in Solaris?
There are many resource controls that you can assign for a project. Check man resource_controls.
How do I check my free memory Solaris operating system?
    # sar -r
(This command gives the memory pages that are free and disk blocks available for page swapping)
How to verify that processes a user is using Solaris?
    # ps -fu <Username>

  • Where are role and administrator settings saved?

We have had issues in the past that have caused us to have to
re-setup our site, including all administrative settings and all
roles and users. Surely all of this is saved somewhere. If we just
knew where, we could backup the info for an easier restore if
    further problems ensue.
Anyone know how to backup site settings?

I got the following reply on a separate forum:
    quote:
For a website that has been administered by Contribute
(Publishing server is not enabled), you would find an _mm folder in
the website root on the remove server. This is a contribute
specific folder and it contains the administrative settings, role
    information and users.
For CPS managed sites, the _mm folder still holds the
information about the administrative settings and role information.
The user information of the sites are stored in the Database folder
of CPS. The Database folder can be found in the following location,
    <CPS Install Path>\Database.

  • Restricting user access to delegated administration pages

I have a question about delegated administration services.
When a user is defined, regardless of its privileges, it has access to OIDDAS pages.
And he or she can see the other users' information. (through Directory and Users tabs)
Is there any way to restrict OIDDAS pages to selected userids?
    Regards
    Farbod

If your version of the servlet container is compliant (I assume iPlanet is), then you can declaratively set your security in the web.xml. You can specify entire directories (HTML, JSP, graphics, etc) to be secured. This also prevents you from converting all your static content to JSP and inserting code into each one to validate the user. You may define your own custom login page as well. This is by far the best method of security if you're not trying to do anything fancy like data-level security. The J2EE security model is role-based.
    Hope this helps.

  • Enterprise Portal Administration

    Hi All
What is Portal administration? Think so related to system administration, content administration, user administration,HR administration form frontend Enterprise portal. What are the backend requirment? Are we required any administrative tool for performing Portal Administrator Role?  I am new to this and not know much more about portal administration. I want practical assistance for this.

    Hi,
Portal Administration, consists of system administration, content administration, user administration only.
For Portal Administration, Backend is not mandatory, but since the employee data flows from R3, it goes as a Portal critical component.
You don't need any Tools for Portal Administration, you need to have the required authorizations, viz system administration, content administration and user administration that you'll get in User Administration.
Check out the following link for a better understanding. You can search novice information on SDN & help.sap.com

  • What is BI Administration Cockpit  and why do we use it?

    friends,
Recently i came to know about BI Administration Cockpit .what does the function of it.
and where will we use it and how does that work.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/44/08a76319e32d2fe10000000a11466f/frameset.htm
this is the link i already checked.but i haven't found enough information.
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks
    Srinivas

    Hi Srinivas,
The BI Admin Cockpit is a place where you will be able to get all the statistical information about the BI Application, for example
Runtime of queries, DTP's, Infopackages, processes and so on. All this information is based on the Metadata of the BI application.
This will help you analyse the operational and performance related aspects of the BI application and hence help in focusing on the areas which need improvement. The Admin Cockpit is total web enabled and has drilldown features where you can navigate to the underlying process to some extent.
Moreover quite a lot of the information shown in the Admin cockpit is near online as that is built in the architecture.
Hope it helps bring some insight

  • Sap administration docs

    Hi,
I am new to SAP community. I don't know any thing about SAP.
I know there are so many modules in SAP. I guess, Administration  would

  • Account Naming Conventions & System Administration

How can I change the random string of characters to a readable name? Also I had a DSL account 4 years ago and Verizon can’t delete the email names so I can use them under the new account. The DSL problem has been under request for a year with only promises that have not been kept. The TV and Phone work as designed, but the folks at the Internet side of the house seems to know nothing about server administration. A trouble ticket is open and Verizon has advised three times that this problem was resolved. It has not. Anyone have any suggestion on how to move an elephant?

    Hi Manil,
Extension to what Ravi suggested in Dim for Account against interunit GL under propertiy TYPELIM keep either ARAP or some naming convesion and use same logic in business rules for elimination.
Keep PINTCO property under Account dimension against accounts require elimination as "Y".
No need of changing any naming convension of GLs.
For your information normally consolidation happens at Group level better to map it with Group GL instead Operational GL

    Hi Elizabeth,
The administrator inital who did the actual backend booking will be recorded in table HR1001 Field Name: UNAME, based on course relation (025 is classroom, 614 if e-learning), course id and personal id you will be able to retrieve this data.
Try using SE16 > HRP1001 to find the data.
Hope this answer helps you along
