Acces rules not blocking entire site

Hello we are trying to block all url acces to rapidshare (and megaupload, gigasize , etc)
we are using the syntax
http://*rapidshare*/*.* and used also http://*rapidhsare*
then when i type for example
RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting
i am allowed to get the file
only typing http://*rapidshare*.*/*/*/*.* i'm allowed to block it but i don't know the structure of all the sites, i would like to block the entire site with some generic syntax like "*domain*" for entire site.
How i should block the entire site of rapidshare then?
Thankyou for your replies !

That's because the site address is different. This would be the
address to put in:
http://ssl.rapidshare.com:443/*
The HTTPS setting is as follows:
http://SiteAddress:443/*
So in otherwords drop the "s" from https, enter the site address and
add ":443/*" to the end.

• Not publishing entire site with all pages from site studio Designer

Hi,
I have created the site with one primary page & one secondary page in the site designer. I must admit that they don't have link to each other. When I publishing this site using Oracle Site studio publishing utility to a subscriber, it is publishing the primary page as index.htm in the destination. It is not pulling the secondary page. But i would like to get the entire site including the secondary page. What needs to be done to get the entire site. If you have any idea, please let me know.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
One way is setting a region in secondary as 'set replaceable' and geting ssURL from the code and link them in primary page.

• DW CS3 not importing entire site cache from DW8

Hi;
I upgraded to the CS3 web premium suite from studio 8. My
site caches were
imported but the log on info for each was not. Is there a fix
for this ?
Thanks;

I dunno. Go into DW8 and EXPORT the site definitions with
their login info.
Import them into CS3.

• Linkwall not blocking URLS by IP address

Hi
We have noticed that linkwall does not block sites if you use the IP address rather than the DNS name. For example in the linkwall.lst file Poker.com - The home of online poker games, rules & tournaments will block that site but not the IP address of the site which can be obtained by dns lookup.
Rules placed in the BM acl list in nwadmin do block the corresponding IP address.
Does anybody know if this is working as designed - it doesn't really provide much protection this way.
Many thanks
Kerry

HI Gonzalo
Thanks - I have already tried the proxy.cfg with the DonotSendIPToACL set to 1 and 0 (restarted with -cc etc) and it made no difference. My understanding was that the switch only affected sites that were multihomed.
Never mind - it certainly doesn't do the lookup with the third party tool so we looking into other options.
Thanks for the input though

Probably you're using an empty proxy.cfg file.
> Does anybody know if this is working as designed - it doesn't really

About linkwall, Marcus already answered you.
About bm, this behavior was changed to stop blocking multihoming
servers. Multihoming servers are servers that with one ip address, they
host various web servers. For example, a server with ip address 10.1.1.1
is hosting Poker.com - The home of online poker games, rules & tournaments, www.penguins,com and www.dolphins.com
So you block Poker.com - The home of online poker games, rules & tournaments, bm resolves this domain to 10.1.1.1 so this
ip address is blocked as well. Now you try to access penguins.com
and you're block. but you did not block this site. So to avoid that, a
new switch was introduced for bm and the switch is placed on the
proxy.cfg file:
DonotSendIPToACL=1
with this switch, only domain name will be blocked. Without it or set to
0, both, domain name and ip will be blocked, so you can run into the
issue with multihoming servers.

• HTTPS sites are not blocking TMG server 2010

Hi
I 've create a rule from URL Set . in this I 've put the address
1. *.example.com/*
2. https://www.example.com/*
3. http://example.com/*
but here http://example.com/* is blocked by TMG server 2010 and  "https://www.example.com/* " is not blocking.
kindly help me out that how to block particular https website.

Hi,
Did you mean that you cannot block that HTTPS site by using
https://www.example.com? If yes, please try to
include the port in the URL Set to block HTTPS.
If the issue persists, maybe it is due to the client workstation was configured as Secure NAT client and no web proxy configuration, then URL Filtering doesn’t do
HTTPS categorization for Secure NAT requests. You can enable HTTPS inspection or use Web Proxy client, for more detailed information, please refer to the link below:

to block access for a web site using URL Filtering Override option on TMG 2010

• Is there a way for me to block a page within a website without blocking the entire site?

I want to block some kids from my son's Facebook profile, if I block them using FB he will just unblock them. I've tried altering the hosts file but it doesn't work unless I block FB entirely. Is there a way to block pages from a site without blocking the entire site?

Not sure but try this:
-> Go to your son's page on Facebook
* Right-click empty space within the page and click View Page Info
* In the Page Info window, select the Permissions panel and change the setting to Block for all options
* Close the Page Info window -> Restart Firefox
Check and tell if its working.

• Want to know bow to block part of a website, not the entire website.

I am aware how to block entire websites through the host file or through extensions, but I've looked all over google and can't find a way to just block one specific url. I don't want to block the entire site, I just want to block one page on that site. If anyone out there has figured out a way to just block a specific url within a website and not the entire website, I'd be happy to hear from you :)

• Even with pass word edit, it won't offer up that pass word for a site that does not block PW's.

I listen to whisperings at solopianoradio.com. This site does not block a log in. I use the app add on to edit pass words and entered this web site and pass word. Firefox will still not act on this entered pass word.

Don't follow what you are saying. Earlier versions of Firefox remembered and placed pass words for solopiano. When Firefox was updated to the latest ver, Firefox stopped placing pass words for solopiano. I reloaded 3.6.18, but it still does not work. I checked with the site operator. He does not know why I have the problem as no one else has reported this problem.

• Some sites say cookies are blocked and I can't use some features on those sites. But I check each time and cookies are not blocked.

Sites say I can't set preferences or post on message boards, etc. because cookies are blocked. I know how to set cookies. They are NOT blocked.

Did you check the cookie permissions for the current domain in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions" after you have opened that page?
If the setting in Firefox is correct then check your security software (firewall) to make sure that cookies aren't blocked there.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• Blocksite does not block a bookmarked site

I installed Blocksite to use it to block Facebook on my home computer. It works if I type in the URL in the text box. But, if I click on the bookmark on the toolbar for Facebook that was saved before I downloaded Blocksite, it does not block Facebook. Any suggestions?

• Time restricted rule not working.

BM 3.9 NW 6.5 SP7 iManager 2.6.
I have a time restricted rule on a couple of web sites so that they can only be accessed outside working hours but they dont appear to work properly. Sometimes the site will be blocked and other times it goes straight to it. Also if I get the access denied page 403 as soon as you hit the back button the site will load and ignore the rule ! Is this a bug or is my rule incorrect ?
Rule is set for allowable hours between 6pm to 7am with a lunch break between 12 and 2pm. It is alos set on a particular NDS container and I have specified the urls to be blocked. The allow box is ticked as I presumed that this meant it would only allow acces during the specified time. If I switch to deny it doesnt seem to make any difference. I know that if the page has been previously cached it will look for it there first so can I disable cache for this site ?
Ay help to any part of this problem is much appreciated.

I can't see the time being an issue as the page originates from the UK which is also where I am. It doesn't appear to work full stop. I added new rules for different web sites and none of them obey the time restrictions. I also tried deleting and recreating, using wildcards and substrings exclusions but nothing appears to make any difference. I have cleared the PC and BM cache as well. Now I cant seem to replicate the initial error when using the back button as the page is displayed anyway. Is there a definition for setting time rules as I cant seem to find much info on it. ie when setting the time restrictions you hughlight the bixes to allow access at those times. Then do you allow access or deny access on the rule ? What do you specify as the url you want to restrict. I itried Source, destination, url just about all options so what are the rule components needed to make it complete. If it helps I want to block Sky Sports | Home during working hours 6am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm.
Thanks,
Jeff

• Safari Will Not Open Https sites

Safari will not open any https sites. When attempted, I get the following type of error:
Safari can’t open the page “https://support.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/. . . . . . . . because it could not connect to the server “support.apple.com”.
The problem started happening about three weeks ago, probably after one of Apple's updates. I can log on to the same https sites using any other browser. The problem also exists no matter what user I am logged into, including root.
I have emptied the cache, reset Safari, repaired permissions, repaired the disk using Disk utlility, run ToolTech Pro on the drive, tossed preferences, tossed various keychange files, but nothing solves the problem. There are other posts claiming to have the same problem, but the suggested fix does not work for me.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Power Mac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I also had this problem and solved it. I use Little
Snitch which establishes rules for blocking ports to
see when applications phone home. For Safari I
accidently blocked port 443 which is SSL or https.
Check to see that you have not blocked this port
through a firewall setting. Of course if this were a
firewall setting all browsers would not be able to
access https websites.
****, I thought I thought of everything, but I completely failed to consider Little Snitch, as I could never see myself accidently denying Safari connections. However, apparently I did just that. Thank you, you win the prize.
