Acrobat Standard 9.1.2 update problem?

I'm running Acrobat Standard 9 on Windows Vista Ultimate.
Right after installing the Acrobat 9.1.2 update, but before restarting my system, I tried to open a PDF file, and experienced cascading file openings, where Acrobat seemed to be trying to open every PDF file on my hard drive in a separate window. Each window header contains the statement: "Adobe Acrobat not responding." After shutting down Acrobat through Task Manager, I then restarted my system, thinking that the problem was a failure to complete the update installation, but when I just tried to start Acrobat (without trying to open any file), it automatically began opening multiple PDF files again.
At that point, I ran a restore to a previous Acrobat version, but did not restart my system. After the restore was complete, my desktop displayed two Acrobat startup icons, one for v9.1.2 and one for the previous version. I tried to start Acrobat by clicking the previous verion icon, but had the same problem with automatic multiple file openings. When I checked the software list in Control Panel, I found that it only contained v9.1.2, and not the supposedly restored version. Does anyone know if I had to restart my system to make the restore work?
When it looked like the restore to previous version had not worked, I did an Acrobat program repair through Control Panel, and restarted my system, but when I tried to start Acrobat, the same problem occurred. Every time it occurs, I have to shut down Acrobat through Task Manager.
I never experienced this problem until I installed the 9.1.2 update. Has anyone else experienced problems with this update? Does anyone here know the cause of the automatic multiple file opening problem?

As far as I'm concerned, there is something screwy about this whole release.  I have used Acrobat Standard since v4.0, and was forced to buy v8 or v9 when I upgraded my OS to Vista, so I chose v9.  However, the most important feature to me (besides converting other documents to PDF files), something called FreeText, was replaced by something now called Typewriter.  Unfortunately, where FreeText was intuitive and seamless, I cannot view the result of a Typewriter session in my document, after entering new text and closing the feature.  On top of that, Adobe tech support seems to have gotten less accessible over the years.
This new problem has now rendered my Acrobat program completely unusable, and for some reason, Adobe's Internet support contact form doesn't even interact with my inputs.  This forum has proved useless to me for any problem-solving.  Anybody from Adobe Engineering listening?

Hi all. I am running CS5 on my Intel mac which is on system 10.5.8. Today I have updated to the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro. In my work I use the "Attach for email Review..." feature alot, to send off to our clients. I am using Mail, has anyone else had the same issue with this update?

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard Stops Working after Update

I have Windows 7. I purchased Adobe Design Standard including Adobe Acrobat Pro. It worked for a while, then one update, it stopped working. If I click on a PDF, nothing happens. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and then it works, then it will randomly stop working again (I believe after updates) and I keep having to uninstall and reinstall that program to get it to work, which is a real pain. Why is this happening? For such an expensive piece of software, I'm getting quite irritated with this and hope I can find a solution.

Instead of reinstalling, just do a repair. When the PDF does not open you are assuming Acrobat is at fault rather than something being messed up in your OS. First, open Acrobat from the start menu (I have no idea what OS you are using). The from the file menu open a PDF. I assume this works.
Next try to right click on the PDF and select Open With, selecting Acrobat. If it opens then, then the problem is that your file associations are getting messed up -- probably by another program or you OS system updates.

  • Which file names verify Acrobat Standard 9.3.1 updates are installed?

Without having to launch the application and look at Help and About, what is a good way to check that 9.3.1 updates are installed?
What files would be on a PC with 9.3.1 that would not be on it if it only had 9.3.0?

How come the file version is not changing?
I built an AIP from 9.0.0 to 9.1.0 to 9.1.2 to 9.2.0 to 9.3.0 to 9.3.2 using all quarterly updates only.
The install function does not work when upgrading existing installs of 9.0.0 to 9.3.2 as can be seen on this forum by other users.
You are told to remove the existing installation manually.
I used the work around of REINSTALLMODE=vamus within my msiexec script.  However the Acrobat.exe file details still show the version as 9.0.0 and when you open Acrobat and go to Help, About you see the current version as 9.3.2

  • Acrobat Standard 9.0 automatically opens multiple files on startup

This problem was originally posted as "Acrobat Standard 9.1.2 update problem?"
In Vista Ultimate, I installed the Acrobat Standard 9.1.2 update, and afterward, my terminal began automatically opening multiple PDF files whenever Acrobat was started.  At one point, I let it run for several minutes, and got up to 33 opened files before I forced the program to shut down.
Although this problem was resolved by a program removal and reinstallation (restore previous version didn't work), it came back again, after I had worked on several PDF files since the reinstall.  Apparently, Acrobat feels compelled to open all of the PDF files I have worked on since the reinstallation, whenever it starts up.  In addition, it opens copies of all of these files when I open a Website PDF file. So I have two copies of the same filename open at the same time (usually impossible in Windows).  Since I removed v9.1.2 and reinstalled v9.0, the problem might not be connected to the 9.1.2 update I installed before it began; however, the 9.1.2 update might have made changes to the registry that the uninstall didn't correct.
HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED AUTOMATIC MULTIPLE FILE OPENINGS IN ACROBAT STANDARD 9.0 OR 9.1.2, AND IF SO, WHAT DID YOU DO ABOUT IT?  I'm desperate enough to seek technical advice from a random group of strangers.

I was having this problem on a Vista Ultimate machine after upgrading to Acrobat Pro 9.2, and solved it in the following way.
    1.  Exit Acrobat, open the task manager and be sure the acrobat.exe task is no longer running.
    2.  Open the directory C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0
    3.  Locate the file named Organizer90 and drag it to the desktop
    4.  Open Acrobat from the Start menu
Problem should be solved!  If not, exit Acrobat and drag the original Organizer90 file back to the original directory (replacing the newly created file).  I have no idea what the Organizer90 file does, so I don't know if you may be losing anything important using this method, but it did work for me in solving the "opening multiple files" problem.

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard or Pro?

I am updating a project, that I did not original work on, that was developed using Acrobat 7.0 and Distiller 7.0. It added the ability to save report files in PDF format and to digitally sign them. Besides the files generated by the SDK there are other files that were generated and edited by Acrobat 7.0 and Distiller 7.0. Files ending in .js looks like I just need a text editor and .api is generated by the SDK. Then I have files templates BlankPageDoc.pdf, BlankPageDoc.ps, TempDoc.pdf that were generate by Distiller. Then I have another file with the extension .joboptions that I don't know how it was generated.
So do I need Adobe Acrobat Standard or Pro to update this project for 8.0 and 9.0? I know I need Adobe Acrobat Standard to run it but will I need something in Pro for development?

Pro certainly includes various tools not found in Standard that you may find useful.

  • How do I print from PSE9 to Acrobat Standard X?

I have a new computer with Windows 7 and PSE 9 and Acrobat Standard X.
I have no problems editing and printing pictures out on my HP 7410.  However when I attempt to print a pdf it says its doing it (but I do not see the normal Adobe logo going round bottom right hand corner, nor do I get a pdf.
When I go into Acrobat and follow the option to create a pdf from a file I get my pdf but this is not v convenient - it is, for me, v much a temporary "work round" - can anyone help?
I did attempt to "search the forum" for similar queries but that didn't seem to be operational either!!
    Look forward to hearing something!

    Hi,
Maybe some more details would help in isolating the issue :
As you said "I have no problems editing and printing pictures out on my HP 7410" , Are you able to print any other files (other than pdf) edited in PSE correctly ?
Do you see any error message or something while printing pdf from PSE ? If yes, then what are the steps you are taking and when do you encounter the problem ?
    thanks,
    Ash

  • Acrobat Standard 9.4.5 Known Bugs

The Acrobat Standard 9.4.5 update broke highlighting the first occurrence of  search text on each page and the ability to select multiple pages from  the thumbnail Page viewer while holding Ctrl down.  Both of these commonly  utilized features work fine on Acrobat 10.  I submitted a bug report online for the former issue.  When are these going to be fixed?  How is it that they work fine on Acrobat 10?  If you are not going to perform basic testing of very common features like searching for text, then please make it possible to uninstall updates to the previous level.

    Hello Michael,
Thank you for your email.  The file I am trying to convert to PDF and create a form with is a MS Office Word 2003 file.  It isn't any specific file; the issue happens every time.  I type my text in the Word doc and then proceed to open Adobe Acrobat Standard and use the wizard to create a form from an existing file.  I tried to repairing the software but it does not help.  Any other suggestions?  Is this version of software defective?  I really need this feature.  I look forward to your reply.  Thanks.

  • Acrobat Standard 8.2.6 "fehlende PDF-Maker Dateien"

    Hallo,
Fehlende PDF Maker Dateien - Reparatur.

  • Acrobat Standard 9.5.3 and 9.5.4 Updates will not Install.

I am unable to install updates to Adobe Acrobat Standard 9. The computer is running Window Vista Ultimate 2007, Service Pack 2 and has a 32-bit Operating System. I receive the following Windows Installer error message when I try to install either update:
"This patch could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."
What do I need to do to correct the problem?
    Thank you.

Can you do a verbose installation from the command line using the syntax below
    msiexec /p [PATH_TO_MSP\NAME_OF_THE_UPDATE_FILE].msp  /L*v c:\acrobatupdate.log
Then afterward post the log file contents to the forum.

  • Problem with recent Acrobat Standard subscription and opening up PDF's

After doing a 1-month trial for Adobe XI Pro, I completed online purchase yesterday (11/8/14) for annual subscription for Adobe Standard.
And now I can no longer open or read any PDFs on my computer. A prompt comes up that trial period has ended and I need to subscribe (which I have done). I did not expect this and am very frustrated. Is there a lag time for processing the subscription, or is this something related to updates of  older version Adobe? I have Windows Vista.

    Hi create shortcut,
Acrobat XI isn't supported on Windows Vista, so that could be what the problem is (see Tech specs | Adobe Acrobat XI Pro). Although, it sounds like you were using Acrobat Pro XI on Vista, is that correct?
Your subscription is indeed, active. So, you should be able to simply sign in and use Acrobat Standard (but know that Adobe can't support any technical issues that might arise when using it on an unsupported OS).
    Best,
    Sara
