Acrobat X won't save scans

I'm using Acrobat X 10.1.4 (with Windows 7 64-bit). Recently my computer was reimaged (the hard drive was wiped) and I had to reinstall all my applications, including Acrobat.  Since then, when I try to scan directly into Acrobat using my HP ScanJet G4010, Acrobat "dies" after scanning my page--it just grays out and stops working. I never get the opportunity to save my scan. None of my equipment is any different, and everything was working fine prior to having to reinstall all my applications.  My scanner driver is the same one as before the reimaging.  I can do everything else I need to in Acrobat (i.e., open previously-created PDFs, create portfolios, print, etc.)  Any idea why suddenly I can't save my scans?

The software has been fully activated including getting my serial number through registration of an academic account, activating my online account, and activating the account. There are, as far as I can tell, no further things that I need to do. By reinstalling the software I was able to get Acrobat to work again, but I am afraid now that I won't be able to run any updates.

HP Officejet Pro  8600 won't save scanned document in searchable PDF or .rtf format
The scanner scans the document without a problem but when I select 'SAVE' and
specify a location and file name, a system error 'The HP scan application was
unable to save the file to the specified location'.  It will save a regular PDF file
or a  JPG file with no problem, but trying to save an searchable PDF or .rtf file
results in the above mentioned system error.
This problem occurs either from HP SCAN or from the 8600 scan panel.
The computer is running Windows XP and the I.R.I.S. OCR software is
    loaded.

    Hello TrailsEnd,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're receiving an error message "The HP scan application was unable to save the file to the specified location". I will do my best to assist you!
First, I would recommend downloading this tool called the Print and Scan Doctor. This tool diagnoses and helps resolve common printing, scanning, and connectivity problems, including: (This information is stated here.)
USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
Device Status Test : Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
Driver Check : Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
Device Manager : Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
Device Online : Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
Print Queue : Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
Port Match : Checks the port settings for the HP product.
Device Conflicts : Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
Ink Issues : Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
Print Settings : Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
Test Print : Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
Scan Tests : Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.
Let me know if this tool fixes a scanning problem on this post. If this doesn't resolve your issue, then I am going to recommend uninstalling the software. Please follow this HP document on Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once this is complete, you can perform a clean boot on your computer. I will provide a Microsoft document here to help you. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program. Now, you can install the full feature software from the HP website here.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!

  • TS3147 Lion - Canon all in one won't save scans

I recently upgrded to Lion but my Can MP600 all-in-one cannot now save a scan.
I have downloaded the latest drivers, deleted and reinstalled the device but it won't save a scan.
    Any suggestions?
    Richard

I normally click a desk top icon called MP Navigator 3 and then click 'One Click' and 'Save as PDF File'. The software then shows calibration, follwed by Screening and finally 1 document copied.
But when I press Exit (which used to comple the process allowing me to save the scan to my iMac) I get the following - Unable to save file. The system cannot find the path selected.
Not sure what to do now - any further thoughts would be helpful.
    Thanks, Richard

  • Acrobat 9.4.1 won't save scanned document - occasionally

After scanning a document into Acrobat 9.4.1, I can not save the document.  Pressing Save or Save As does not bring up a save diaglog box.  Some times this works just fine, other time it does not work at all.  This is on a Win 7 64 bit machine.

When I open PDF documents in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.2, the "Save" option is grayed out.
    Did you change the document?

  • Epson scanner software, won't save scan

Thanks for the earlier responses to my question about using the Epson software within PS.  So now I am doing a scan, stand alone, but once the popup comes up to save  the scan someplace, there isn't a 'save' button to save it!  I have to close the popup and the scan isn't saved.  CS4, and epson perfection 4490 Photo.  What???? What am I not seeing??  Or doing??  I don't understand... I'll look at Epson forum sites also.
    Thanks.

You make a Preview scan and then, when you click on Scan, a dialog like the one below shows up.
When you click OK, the scan starts and the file is saved to the location you specified in the dialog.

  • Maverick OS X10.9.4 won't save scan from HP All in One

Have new iMac running OSX10.9.4 and am trying to scan from my old HP All in One Deskjet 3070A. I have managed to launch the scan function from System preferences, but it does not appear to be saving the scan anywhere. I have asked it to do the scan to the desktop and it is not there.
When I try and scan using the Old scan icon from along the bottom of my screen it comes up with an error message. Boo HIss HP, it is very complicated to have to go through system preferences. Please update the software!

    Hi @pearl46
I can help you scan using your Deskjet 3070a despite there being no full feature software and drivers for 10.9.
I have seen the scan not save before in System Preferences, I believe I may have a quick solution for you. When you open the Scanner it does an overview, you might need to change the scan size. It seems that for some reason the Apple scan software is defaulting to custom and 0 x 0, thus it is not actually scanning and saving anything because the scan size is 0. I know it is strange ,but if you unselect custom, then change the scan size to the desired size, and click scan it should then save to the location you selected!
    I hope this helps.

  • HP 67oo All in One won't save scans at 2.400 dpi

Hi, i tried to scan a photo at 2400dpi and when it comes to saving the file, i get a "the hp scan application was unable to save the file to the specified location".
I tried several locations, including external drives etc...
I have Win7 Enterprise and admin rights...
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Panos_vz,
When you scan other resolutions does it work, is this the only setting that does not work?
If you can save other resolutions, please choose one of those resolution shortcuts and modify the resolution settings.
of course you would change the 75 to 2400. Then try scanning using this newly created shortcut.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue. If it does not, download and run the HP Print and SCan Doctor, and please let me know the outcome of each item tested.

  • Windows 8.1 Metro Scan and MG6220 won't save scan

Got a new Dell Inspiron laptop. I am able to preview and scan a document in the Windows 8.1 Metro scan app, but I get an error message saying scan can't be saved. I downloaded the latest Canon Mimi Master software. Also, the regular Windows Fax & Scan app works fine. Anyone have a solution to get the Metro Scan App to work properly?

    Hello CarolinaAsh,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to scan a document using the Officejet 4500 G510N. I will do my best to assist you! Did the Print and Scan Doctor detect a scanning problem?
How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB?
Did you install the full feature software on your computer successfully? I realize the scan capture or the Windows scan doesn't detect your printer, but could you try scanning a document using the HP software to see what happens. Please follow this HP document on How to Scan: Windows 8.
If you receive an error message, please let me know. I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

  • Acrobat XI Pro won't save as PNG

    Hi,
My Acrobat XI won't allow me to save a PDF as a PNG (says something weird about not enough disk space, which is ludicrous). It will allow me to create a JPEG, but they come out minty green for some reason! Don't know what that's about, and am wondering if anyone else has come across the same issue.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
    TIA,
    AA

I am having the same problem.

  • Acrobat won't save any more links in a PDF. Why?

I am adding links to a PDF file. I have done several, including the index of the file. Acrobat won't save any more though. Why?

    Sara,
The Save As allows me to save the changes, but the regular save will still not function. I seem to recall a similar issue with the last version of this document, with a similar number of links.
    Thanks,

  • I have used Image Capture to scan images/documents and then saved them as either PDFs or PNG files.  For some reason, just this past week Image Capture will no longer save the file.  It scans, and the Scan Results window pops up, but it won't save file.

I have used Image Capture to scan images/documents and then saved them as either PDFs or PNG files.  For some reason, just this past week, Image Capture will no longer save the file.  It scans, and the Scan Results window pops up, but it won't save file.
The file name has no special character in it, just letters and no spaces.
I have done this in the past and it has worked, but now it will not.
I have not upgraded any software, that I am aware of.
After scanning, the Image Capture pops up the Scan Results with the file name in the window, but neither the Scan Results nor the Image Capture window responds to inputs.  The Image Capture window is frozen, with only the "Overview" and "Cancel" buttons active (but non-responsive).
Is this a software issue or a scanner hardware issue?  I am using a HP Photosmart C6200 series printer/scanner on a network using a Time Capsule airport.
    Thanks.

    I had the same problem.
Got a 90% fix.  Apparently the Mavericks preferences won't work with Yosemite, so I just deleted the Image Capture preferences.
Unfortunately, the "Scan to" folder seems to be permanently set to the Pictures folder.
    1.  Quit Image Capture
    2.  Go to Finder > Go > Home, which opens up your home folder (named after your user name)
    3.  Open Library > Preferences > com.apple.ImageCapture.plist - Drag this file to the Trash
    4.  Start "Image Capture", click "Details" and change all your settings as you prefer
    5.  Quit and restart "Image Capture".   Notice it remembers all your settings except "Scan to" folder.  It insists on saving to "Pictures".
That's as far as I was successful.  I tried changing the "Scan to" folder to "Desktop", but on launch, Image Capture always sets it back to "Pictures".
    This is what I tried:
    6.  Download and install "Pref Setter" from http://www.nightproductions.net/prefsetter.html
    7.  Quit "Image Capture".  Right-click on "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist" and open with Pref Setter.
    8.  Search for "Pictures", which finds "~/Pictures" (the tilde character at the start means your home directory).
    9.  Double-click on "~/Pictures" and change it to the folder you prefer.  I like "~/Desktop"
    10. Choose File > Save then Quit from Pref Setter.  Note that re-opening the plist file still shows "~/Desktop"
    11. Start up "Image Capture" -- on startup, "Image Capture" sets "Scan to" folder to "Pictures"
    I consider this a bug.

  • Acrobat X won't scan

Acrobat X worked fine on a Dell Dimension B110 connected to a Dell 946 printer.  I upgraded to a new Dell XPS running MS 7 and connected to the same Dell 946 printer.  The scan document function no longer works.  I reloaded the Acrobat X program, searched for updated driver, etc. all with no luck.  I hope someone can help.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
If I read it correctly, it is 10.0       The  full label on the box reads
    "DUS/A.ACRO,10.0.WIN,GEN,UE. W/SENSOR  "
I have been through, and performed all the troubleshoot steps including

    Thanks again.

  • Form created in ES4 won't save data entered in acrobat readerXI

I have created a large form in Live Cycle Designer ES4. If I save the form as a pdf and open it in Acrobat Reader XI I get the message that I cannot save data entered in the form only print it. All I want to do is to put the form on our web site for people to download, complete, save and e-mail it back to me. I did consider an alternative method which is if I distribute the form and take the distributed pdf and save it locally, when it is opened in Reader you get the submit button on teh purple bar on teh right hand side. This will confuse a lot of our users so if there is a way to not have the submit button then that would work but how do I stop the submit button appearing on the purple bar?

You have to Reader-enable the form. You can do this in Acrobat 11 by opening the form in Acrobat and selecting: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools
Reader 11 can save non-enabled AcroForms (forms created in Acrobat), but not non-enabled XFA forms (forms created in LiveCycle Designer).

  • Watermark source file won't save in settings

I have successfully created several watermark images that have source files (both in PDF format and JPG format). But there is one that I cannot get to save. I have tried the image in both JPG and PDF formats, but for whatever reason, when I try to save the settings, the source file is not saved and it just comes up as blank text when I select it for use. I have tried over and over again to save this watermark.
As a result, whenever I want to apply this particular watermark, I have to go and browse for and find the file time and time again.
?? Any clue as to why this one won't save? Is there a maximum number of watermarks that can be saved?

You can look at the place where the settings are saved.
For Acrobat 8 and MS Vista the place is:
    X:\Users\{user}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0\Preferences\Watermark
