Actual Cost in Valuated Stock

Dear PS experts,
I am facing an issue in case of actual costs in 'valuated project stock' scenario.
      The scenario is as following:
   1. A material(assembly) is attached to network having planned costs as 100 Euros.
   2. The planned costs for project is also now 100 Euros.
   3. This material is assembly made from using 2 materials.
   4. The assembly is made by subcontractor.
   5. The breakup of the costs is 80 euro for 2 material components and 20 euro as subcontracting charges.
   6. When I run MRP and covert a req. to PO, the commitment is 20 euro for subcontracting order and 80 euro for material components PO.
  7. After I receive the 2 material components in stock, the actual cost(statistical cost element is hit) for project becomes 80 euro.
  8. When I send these components to the supplier and he converts it into assembly material, at GR the entries are like this:
          a. Commitment is reduced of 20 euro, actual cost is incurred for 20 euro for subcontracting charges.
          b. The consumption is booked for 2 components(movement type 543), actual cost incurred is 80 euro.
So total actual costs at this stage is 100 euros.
9. Now the assembled material is issued against network activity ( movement type 281 Q), this again updates the the consumption at project with value 100 euro.
In this way, I am seeing the actual cost at project is 200 euro. I think it is not correct, does anybody have any opinion on this. I am not able to understand if it is related to valuation categories.
If you are having any clue about it, please let me know. Thanks in advance !
Regards,
Mahendra Dighe

Hi,
I hope this scenario clarifies your problem.
assly- X- 100
material A- 40
Material B-40
Sub contracting charges20
MAterail A & B came to stock (project stock) so inventroy 80 INR(statistical)
now subcontracting PO for 20 INR
you can not issue project stock to subcontractor so you have to transfer A & B to plant stock. then do 541 for subcontracting
now in project you are having actual -0 and commitment 20
when you confirm subcontract PO then material X with 100rs will come to the stock. this will reflect as 100 INR in project as an inventory. just check cost element report.
when you issue it to network then inventory become zero and actual consumption shows you 100 INR  again check yourcost element report.
i think this is how subcontracting works... lets wait for other experts comment.
I dont understand why you are doing 543 movement ( goods isue for sale order)?

  • Actual Costing: Alternative valuation : "Relevant for Costing" indicator

    Hi:
We are using alternative valuation in our Actual Costing
We would like to know the use of the "Relevant for Costing" indicator. (XPCP field).
Documentation said: "If you set this indicator, the results of the alternative valuation run can be used in the standard cost estimate for the material." But there is not a clear explanation in the online doc or other info sites.
How does it works? What is the exact meaning of "can be used in Standard cost estimate"?
How can we get these values from Product Cost planning?
    Best Regards:
    Manuel

    Manuel,
If that Field is checked, it should update the Planned Price in the Costing 2 Tab of the Material Master Record. I did not try this though.

  • Actual Cost when using Valuated Stock

    Hi All,
I am using valuated stock in my project. The process would be,
    Reservation -> MRP Run -> PR -> PO -> GR -> GI.
In this scenerio,I am expecting the actual cost, when I do the goods issue. However, the actual cost comes to project when I do the Goods Receipt (GR).
    Where the setting is missing?

Actual Cost you are seeing while doing GR is only a statistical postings, because you have maintained statistical cost element for the inventory GL.
The real actual cost will hit project only after GI.

  • Actual cost of production order in inventory valuation

    Hi,
Kindly tell me in our client requirement to "capture actual cost of drum manufactured. This cost will go to finished mixer. So actual goods receipt of drum should be with actual production order cost . Also actual mixer cost should be taken from actual production order cost. How to map this s cenarionin in SAP" ?
    Best Regards,
    Anindita

    Hi Shyam,
In SAP product costing we use generally standard cost estimation. Raw material ara taken as moving averagae price as v and finished products are taken as standard price i.e, S. Before cost estimation we update plan price in material master costing view 2 for accurate cost estimation. In case of standard cost estimation price variance is occured which is post to separate gl account. Our client wants actual cost rather than standard cost. Without implementing material ledger is it possible to do actual costing in SAP. Please let me know the process of actual costing...

    Hi
We are going with sales order costing for services
Service material is non-valuated hence the scenario is non-valuated sales order stock
    PP module is not implemented.
    I am having following questions
    1. How to track the actual costs at sales order item level? Is Internal order/CO production order is required to be created for the same?
    2. Can I do activity confirmations directly from cost center to sales order item.

  • Actual cost at the time of Goods Receipt

    Hi All,
When I create Goods Receipt, I am getting actual cost in WBS Element. As per customer request, When I do the Goods Issue then only actual cost has to come to WBS Element.
    1. Is it due to statistical cost element cretaed for inventory account (BalanceSheet account)?
    2. If statistical cost element not cretaed, will commitment raise?
(Or) Am I missing any configuration settings?

  • Actual cost component values

    Hi
We are facing an issue that actual cost component values in our system are not calculating correctly. We consider that there might be difference in our understanding regarding the calculation of actual cost component values.
Therefore I want to understand that how actual cost component values are calculated in SAP Material Ledger. I will appreciate if anyone can elaborate this with example and formula, used for calculation.
    Regards

    Hi Saad,
Please find below about the actual cost calculation in ML.
In ML single -level and multi-level material settlements are available. Multilevel price determination calculates the periodic unit price for a material. The standard price, the single-level differences cumulated in the period, the differences between planned and actual prices, as well as input material differences (multilevel differences) are all taken into account.
The material price calculated in multilevel price determination can be used for inventory valuation.
The actual price for each material can be updated to the material master for the closed period.
-During price determination, the system carries out the following calculation:

  • COPA how to analyse sales by actual cost (MTS) ?

    Hi All,
    We use Make-To-Stock production type.
I want to make a drilldown report for sales analysis use actual cost (COGS + production variance), how to link production variance to sales data.
    Any suggestion will be appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards
    Sam

    Hi Sam
As I said, you can tag variance of FG upto some extent to the COGS of FG...
Also note that, w/o ML, variance is disposed off in the month of mfg, where as COGS comes in the month of sale... For eg: You mfr 100 Kgs @ Actual cost of 120, where as your std cost is 100... You sell 50 kgs in Month 1 and 50 kg in month 2
    In Month 1
    COGS = 50 (@ std cost)
    Variance = 20
    In Month 2
    COGS = 50
    Variance = 0
Variance analysis w/o ML is always limited.. At best what you can do is draw your COPA reports on YTD (Year To Date) basis... Assuming that your closing and opening stock is more or less the same, your variance related to FG can now be analysed with COGS and revenues....
Also, if your prod order for FG is tagged to sale order on account of MTO scenario, your COPA doc for variance will have customer info as well
    With ML in place
Variance of SFG can be rolled upto FG... i.e. Say, variance in SFG is 20 USD... Std cost of FG is 125 USD... When you roll up the variance to FG, your FG valuation will become 145 USD....
Also, if part of the FG is sold off, then prorata variance will go to Inventory and the rest can be taken to COGS.. i.e. not only FG, you can also revaluate your COGS with ML...

  • Transferring Standard and Actual costs to COPA

    Hi,
We are using 3 valuations (Legal, Profit Center and Group Valuations). In order to transfer standard and actual costs to COPA for all 3 valuations do we need to create 3 costings (total 6) for transferring standard and and 3 costings keys for transferring actual costing to COPA?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ravi.
    Very interesting question!
1: Ledgers in FI are not related with Material Ledger Valuation. EG, in FI you can have IFRS, TAX, and GAAP; and in ML You can have "currency/valuations"  Legal, PCA / Group. Keep in mind this are different stuff.
2: In Material Ledger, you can valuate your stock according to different ledgers, with the bussiness function FIN_CO_COGM (Paralell cost of goods manufactured). The idea of this BF is have alternative valuations assigned to the principles (IFRS, TAX, GAAP), so in FI you can accomplish different Stocks, COGS and on accounts, based on different accounting principles. You can understand this as the brothers of FI Ledgers, in order to do product costing.
3: In PA, you only post (or transfer) one record.  You have to decide if use "Local, Group, PCA or Paralell Cost of Goods Manufactured". (Im 90% sure based on lot of reading, maybe im missing somethings).
Please, check this old post. Waman is a good source of info!
    CO-PA & IFRS
Hi Waman!Waman Shirwaicar Could you please clarify the concept?  This is a topic that there are not much info!

  • GI Actual Cost-Material Component

    Hello Experts,
I have maintained movement type 101 for GR, 281 for GI for valuated project stock and Item Category L for creating material component. Actually, my report reflects the planned figures on WBS, then breaks on activity then reflects further breakdown at the material breakdown level under the activity.
When comes to actual cost i.e. first GR the value goes on WBS, which is correct. However, when I do GI it goes on the activity and my material actual cost breakdown figures don’t appear, neither does the commitment column. They remain zero instead and the Actuals GI figure reflects on activity.
Can you please tell me where am i doing anything wrong.?
    Thanks,
    Kumar Srinivasan

    Hi,
    Just check your procurement parameters.
If the parameters are set to reserve/ purchase the material for a network and not WBS then it will always look for the network number as the controlling object. From there only you handle your stock, Good Receipts, Good Issues and its valuation means how it is valuated.
    Eg:-
If you have set up your project by contradicting that the project definition has group requirements for a project and then you don’t have Q on your special stock indicator on the procurement page, then you will have your costs going in different directions.
I hope this will clear your doubts.

  • Sales Order Valuated Stock Vs. Non Valuated Stock

    Hi Gurus,
What is difference between Sales Order valuated stock and Non Valuated stock. What are the period end processes in each scenario?
Please give me ur valuable inputs.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ganesh

    Hi
The definitions are huge.  Sales order related costing and its components are quite complex and configuration involves defining parameters for Req Class, Req Types, also depends on whether sales order item has indv and collective requirements etc
To answer your query In short it is as follows
Valuated sales order stock -  this has both the situations of controlling of sales order with and without.  Which means u may or may not create a cost estimate for the sales order item
In case of Non Valuated sales order stock - is always with controlling by sales order
The usage of product cost by sales order depends on business situations and other criteria
the main period end closing steps would be as follows
Valuated sales order stocks has all the period end closing steps as u use in make to stock situation, whereas non valuated sales order stock does not support following period closing steps with the exception of RA which can be performed
    1)  No variances can be determined
    2)  Actual costs of production orders are settled to sales orde
    3)  No preliminary costing can be done on the production order
    4)  No details of costs can be posted to non valuated sales order.  Only one cost which is the total actual costs posted to sales order item.
    5)  There are no planned costs for the sales order item and hence sale price is not determined based on expected standard costs etc.
    6)  You cannot do profit planning here with changes to sales price based on actual costs of production order
    Please note
Settlement receiver in non valuated sales order stocks is the sales item and the settlment type is FUL
    Recommendation
SAP recommends to follow sales order controlling depending on the business scenarios becoz of above limitations of non valuated sales order stock
Hope the above clarifies - Pls assign points as a way to say thanks

  • Actual Cost Component Split for cross company code transfers.

    Hi,
    My issue is as follows.
Production process spans across 2 company codes.
Goods are produced in production company code, transferred (via stock transport order) to marketing company code and sold to customers from marketing company code.
Stock transport order follows sales scenario i.e.. marketing company code creates purchase order for goods from production company code and production company code bills marketing for the goods.
Actual costing / Material ledger is implemented in both company codes.
We would like to roll-up (transfer) actual cost component split from production company code to marketing company (in a similar way as in product cost planning in cross-company scenario).
However, due to the fact that the transfer between the companies is in fact a "sales" the goods in marketing company code are seen as externally purchased and the only cost component we can create is based on PO conditions. But we want to get the info about production cost component split.
Once again this is for ACTUAL cost component split.
I would be grateful for any ideas.
    Thanks,
    Szymon

    Hi Udo / Szymon.
I have a question about this issue.
In the sap help  about multiple valuations / group costing:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/7e/cb848443a311d189ee0000e81ddfac/content.htm
Its not clear if this can roll up the Actual CCS? or what it do? My question is because i read the documentation of  bussiness function: LOG_MM_SIT,and also the book *Actual Costing with The SAP Material Ledger*
states that we can handle the rollup of actual cost component split inter-company only with this BF active.
    Could you clarify about this?
    thanks!!
    Arturo.
    Group Valuation
Goods movements between affiliated companies not involving intercompany profits are processed using the group view. This view determines the actual cost of goods manufactured for the group, and does not include any intercompany profits. You can, however, display internal profits as delta profits in the legal and/or profit center views.
When you define cost components, you can specify that internal profits between company codes and/or profit centers are shown in detail in the cost component split. You activate these delta profits for the group valuation in the attributes of the cost components.
For each cost component structure, there can only be one cost component under which the delta profit is shown. This means that neither the legal view nor the profit center view can have more than one cost component for the delta profit.
To cost multiple values, you define a costing type for each valuation approach in Customizing for Product Cost Planning. You use the costing type to specify which valuation approach you require. You define each costing type in a new costing variant and carry out a cost estimate with this costing variant.
Group Costing and Multiple Valuation Approaches
In-Depth Detail of the Value-Added Chain: Partner Cost Component Split
You can display in detail the costs of materials and services of every company department in the value-added chain for every stage of the production process. The partner can be traced for every material used. To do this, you define a partner version, which enables the value-added portions of each manufacturing level to be displayed in detail. For further information about this, see Partners and Direct Partners.
The group cost component split can be displayed according to your partner definition. You can display the cost structures of the partners hierarchically according to your requirements, such as the company code segments on the highest level and the plant or profit center segments underneath.
To display partner cost component splits, define a partner version in Customizing and enter it in the costing type.

  • MR21 price change for actual cost of inventory

    Hi
Material ledger is not active. We have four FERT materials and four production orders in April 2011. Material inventory is on standard price. We want closing inventory at actual value. I have tried to change the price via MR21 but system is not allowing me to change price because cost estimate is exist.
Actual production order cost divided by actual production = actual cost per unit.
I want to use this price in MR21 to re-valuate the inventory in current month.
    hope clear.
    regards

    Hi Imdad
Here is a workaround which I used many times
    a. Create a New Costing variant, with Costing Type = Release to Prices other than Std Cost
    b. The Valuation Variant settings must be as below
For Materials - Strategy J (Price as per Price Control as of Last Period)
For Activity prices - Actual Price of Previous Period
    c. At month end, once you calculate Actual Activity price, you can create a Costing Run in Ck40N
The Costing date can be 01.Apr.2011, if you are running the Cost Estimate for March 2011
    d. The price calculated to be stored in Plan price 2 field of the Material Master or Tax price field
You can get a comparison of original Std cost and the revised std cost.... If need be, you can pass a JV in FI for the Stock (x) Revised price - Original Std price
    5. If need be, you can also revaluate the COGS in COPA using this std cost estimate
