Hi cohaver,
This software already exists in McAfee Total Protection 2010 Software. In fact, McAfee added Home Network to its protection. The problem is McAfee is consuming the CPU at points.
The point being, NMapp also consumes the CPU at points. One doesn't need blouted Software, but software that does its job fast, without consuming the memory or CPU cycles slowing down the computer.

  • Add new known wireless network via Client Management - Possible?

Is it possible to add a known wireless network via Client Management and if the answer is yes, how can you do it?
Other ways to add a known wireless network to a bunch of clients?
    Thanks a lot!
    Best wishes

    Hello again,
    I've tried something else.
    1. Adding the network to our image master (via System Preferences)
    2. Copying:
    /Library/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    /Library/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
    /Library/Keychains/System.keychain
from our master to every client which shall be able to use the new network.
That seems to work because the network is shown up in System Preferences -> Network -> Options -> Airport -> Preferred networks.
Unfortunately this solution has unpleasant side effects. For example the computer name is changed back to the computer name of the master, because the computer name is stored in the preferences.plist file, too.
Any ideas to get the same conclusion without those side effects?
    Thanks a lot!
    Best wishes

  • Missing / deleted history - 'New and improved' releases add new features, improved (?) function, but eliminate some options and browsing history...

This has been a problem ever since updating from Firefox 8 to FF 10. I noticed that there was about a month missing from my history after that update. Checking my settings in 'about:config', there was no change in 'browser.history_expire_days_min' or 'browser.history_expire_days.mirror'. The value has been set at '720' ever since installing FF 3.6 over three years ago.
Admittedly, I don't install new updates the moment they become available... However, every time that I've installed an update, more and more of my history simply vanishes. Not a few days or weeks, mind you. but 3, 6, and even 9 months of history GONE!
I just don't understand why this option was eliminated from Privacy Preferences, forcing users to tinker with the settings in 'about:config' instead. Since users are given a warning before going on to the settings page, why would any programmer think this is a good alternative to the Preferences pane???
Now I'm down to history for February and March of this year... You can bet that I'm not going to be updating to any new releases for a very long time, if ever.
It seems that 'software bloat' isn't a 'Microsoft-only' disease...
New 'features' + 'improved' perfomance = New demands for disk space + improved glitches...
Frankly, I'm getting sick of this...

Not sure if it is relevant but the structure of the places.sqlite database changed recently, and jumping all the way from fx3.6 to fx18 or 19 could conceivably have been a factor. It is best to keep Firefox up-to-date.
Glad at least that you keep backups.
History backups are slightly problematic, because if the places.sqlite database is backed up and restored to an old copy the bookmarks then regress. As you will be aware already, Firefox itself makes no History backups, and has no facility to restore History only.

  • Add "New Feature Request/Proposal"

    Hello,
There seems no area for "New Feature Request/Proposal".
Someone may has good ideas of improving Cisco device/software 's function, or want to request for new features.
Could you take a consideration about adding an area/WebPage for it?
    Thanks.

i like the idea and actually if you want to present us a PER you may reach your AM to do so since as someone mentions not all customers are allowed to do so.
the idea of having everyone asking for things they think would be useful would be somewhat troublesome because i know for a fact that many people come to us and ask things like "i have a XX system that can do this, how can i do the same with Cisco?"
in many cases we do not have something near the functionality they want but unfortunately that's the way the product was developed.
in many cases people would ask for something specific to their business and not for something in general. i've seen some questions on things that many people want like pushing a background image in a batch or how to select how to pick-up a specific call and not in FIFO (which will be in our next release) but i've also been asked questions only once and never heard anyone ask the same never again
i don't want anyone to take this the wrong way but you need to understand that this is a business, so we're most concerned on what customers want and some guys that can ask for features may not be customers. i could gather all my friends and ask them to post a request even if they were not going to buy anything and just by taking the amount of petitions it wouldn't work. that's why this kind of requests are done thru Account Managers.
don't get me wrong, i like the idea but making that work thru NetPro would involve as you mention resources to do so, to validate the idea, to count how many support them, see if they could be implemented, etc

  • How to remove and then add new version of network driver on Local IPS repo

    Hi
I have create a local repo of IPS on my system for solaris 11.1
I have a network driver package ,now i wan to update this new driver in local IPS repo,so while doing installion on client through PXE,i will get this latest driver.
These is some issue with old network driver,so i need to upgrade this driver.
Please let me know the steps
    Thanks in advance

If you're needing to use this driver during the installation then you'll need to create a custom AI image as described in the documentation at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23824_01/html/E21800/index.html. If you only need this driver post-installation then you just need to add the package (and its repository, assuming it's in a separate repository) to the AI manifest used for the client.

  • Who's in Charge? What needed fixing and/or new feature added?

Having been a software development engineer and manager for over 20 years and a Mac Evangelist since 1984, I have been very disturbed by the GUI changes that Apple has made to the OS X over the past 5 years.
There appears to have been an invasion of Microsoft SW programmers into the Mac OS X systems SW department.
Any change to an established GUI should be a very critical concern of any Software Manager and only done to fix a major error or to add new features, which should not impact GUIs for current features.
The most costly investment a user makes in any software is in the user training to become productive in its use.  This is where the GUI makes or breaks the user experience and his decision to continue its use or toss it and replace it with another app with a more familiar and user friendly GUI.
When Apple makes changes to the GUI with no apparent benefit except that some rogue programmers decided they didn't like the old way and wanted to "make it their own", it costs the user community literally hundreds of thousands of hours in lost time adjusting the the new GUI without any added benefit and it creates frustration and disappointment with the app. It also creates a sense of betrayal and fear that other unneeded changes to the GUI will follow with more lost time.
There should be a strictly controlled change control process when any contemplated GUI change is being considered.  A change request must be created and thoroughly reviewed especially with the impact on users being the foremost consideration.  When new features are added, the GUI should be consistent with the current feature GUI as much as possible.  Obviously, when a released feature's GUI proves to be cumbersome and unproductive, it should be revised. But revised only to minimum extent required. When a new GUI for current features can be justified based on consistency, improved productively and/or accuracy, then an option should be provided to current users to revert to the old GUI if they choose to for at least 1 or 2 releases/updates.
GUI changes should be beta tested by a broad base of REAL users before being released.  REAL users should be heavily weighted to LONG time users and not just based on younger, inexperienced users with very little investment in time relative to the current GUI.
In GUI software, change for change's sake should be quickly stopped and denied approval for implementation.  Yosemite is a classic example of how not to upgrade software.  It obviously was not very well tested before release. The SW QA dept should be replaced.  The SW Engineering Manager should be fired for approving a Software Specification and GUI Specification that was Yosemite.  Did anyone on the SW Engineering Development team have ANY experience using Mac OS X?  Mavericks was a significant change from Mountain Lion but it was still recognizable as a Mac OS.  Yosemite looks like a rejected Windoze OS release.
Being an Apple shareholder and a Mac Evangelist since 1984 (even had a Lisa in 1982!) I am deeply concerned that Apple is loosing it's way.
A user friendly, well tested GUI used to be Apple's strong point and is what created a loyal user base. Let's hope Apple does not lose sight of their best product discriminator.

You are not addressing Apple here. This is a user to user support forum. If you want to let Apple know how you feel about something, then use the feedback page HERE, and then click on the appropriate subject.
Sorry, it was a typo, but stedman1 has provided you a good one.

  • How to have same version of Network Magic on all pc`s on home network

I had to uninstall Network Magice from my laptop, and on re-installation I ended up with version 4.1 I am running version 5.0 on my desktop. Before uninstalling I had the same version on both. My question is, how can I get back to version 5.0 on my laptop, all I get from NM is a prompt to buy an update or a new version, I have entered my license key onto my laptop but I cannot upgrade, any help would be greatly appreciated.........

You "must" uninstall the older version and do a clean install of your new version, using the new key.

  • How to connect old aiport express to my new Airport Extreme? My Ipad says "base station e5713b cannot be configured" and my AirPort tool on my PC will not permit me to add my new Airport Extreme network (no network names to choose from)

How to connect old aiport express to my new Airport Extreme?
I have a PC running with Win7 and just replaced my Jensen With a brand New Airport Extreme.
I have set up the Airport Extreme to the internet, Iphones and Ipads and it work as it should.
I have downloaded latest Version of Airport tool on my PC. In addition i have downloaded the airport tool for Ipad.
I have reset one of my airport Express and it now shows up both on the Ipad and on the PC airport tool.
My Ipad says "base station e5713b cannot be configured."
I have wired the airport Express to my Ethernet to be able to "see it" on my Airport tool.
My AirPort tool on the PC will not permit me to add the airport Express to my new Airport Extreme network (no network names on the drop-down list to choose from). I wished for an easy set-up, but nothing seems to be plug and play as the Commercial says.. can you please help me?
    Sigve

    Hi
    Thanks for Swift reply.
Yep - I in fact have two A1088 and one A1264
I actually bought the new router because the Jensen
router always lost connection to the Airport Express after some hours or days. I
always needed to restart my Jensen to play music and that was driving my wife
mad. The hope was that the Extreme should fix this. Both A1088 have been set up
to only stream music to two of my stereo amplifiers from my PC’s Itunes library.
    Are the A1088 now useless?
The A1264 has been set up to feed internet into a Denon Reciever that needed Ethernet cable.
    Please advise
    Regards
    Sigve

  • I have a device that shows up in my airplay device list on my iMac, and my phone.  This device does not exist.  How do I get it out of the list? I would like to drop it before I add new airplay devices to my network.

I have a device that shows up in my airplay device list in iTunes, and on my iPhone that does not exist.  How do I delete it? I have OS X 10.10.1 on my iMac, and iOS 8.1.2 on my iPhone 5.  I would like to get it out before I add new airplay devices to my network.

I called Apple tech support.  The device turns out to be a WiFi extender.  I never would have guessed that the extender would show up on the list since I wouldn't think of it as an airplay device, and in the list, it shows a little speaker icon.  In the process of talking with Apple, I gained a greater understanding of how airplay works.
It turns out that there is no stored list of devices in a file on the mac, or anywhere else.  I have seen a lot of traffic on the web from people trying to modify this list, but there isn't one.  iTunes, and other devices simply poll the network for airplay devices from time to time.
    Have a very happy holiday!
I would like to get rid of "just give me the aster, and stop wasting my time", and replace it with my name.  The Apple tech support guy never saw that before.  Just my luck.

We've added a new Form widget to the widget library.
You can easily configure the form to send the form submissions to multiple email addresses, and optionally redirect users to another page after submitting the form.
You can add and remove fields, and style the form as you would other Adobe Muse elements. You can independently style the various states of the form, and form fields to provide a compelling user experience, with visual cues for error states, empty states, and more.
Because Form processing requires server-side support, Adobe Muse forms are configured to work when published to Adobe Business Catalyst. If you make changes to your form and publish again, Adobe Muse will make the appropriate changes to your Adobe Business Catalyst forms.
Adobe Muse will safeguard data when redesigning your Adobe Business Catalyst forms
If a field with no data submitted is removed, it will be deleted from the database.
If a field that has submitted data is removed, it will be preserved in the database, but can be deleted from the Adobe Business Catalyst admin console if desired.

  • Add new Oracle VM 3.0.2 server & network, SAN configuration

    Hi,
I'm installing an Oracle VM 3.0.2 cluster with 4 Oracle VM servers.
The cluster has been installed with 2 servers, the network has been configured (3 VM Network and 1 admin network).
The storage has been configured, some VM has been created.
And live migration has been realized.
    Perfect
When i'm connecting on the server, I can see the network configuration on linux (bridge, vlan, etc...), storage (pool and repository,)
Now, i have two other servers and i'm installing one with Oracle VM Server 3.0.2.
The installation is OK, i discovered the server in oracle VM Manager without problem.
When I'm adding the servers in the pool, the operation is successfull, and now I have a pool with 4 servers.
In Oracle VM Manager, i can see these new servers in Network, VLAN Groups tabs, Storage Arrays.
But, on the server, the network configuration is not configured, I don't have the configuration like other server.
    No bridge, no new vlan.
And the ocfs2 repository filesystem is not mounted.
    And I don't know why
Do you have any idea ?

We fixed a bug in 3.0.3 where the networks are not created on the new server correctly. 3.0.3 is busy being uploaded to the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud, so it should be available in a few days. In 3.0.3 we automatically configure the network on-the-fly as guests that require each network component are started.I have upgrade to 3.0.3 :
    - the Oracle VM Manager
    - these 2 servers already in the pool
    - and the new server
I add it in the pool, and the network are not configured.
I make an new install from scratch of the new server, and same problem.
I create a new VLAN segment in the pool, and this segment is configured on all servers, including the new one.
I copied the network configuration from a active server on the new server
    I rediscover the server
Ok, the 3.0.3 seem to be available on Oracle Delivery, i will download it as soon as possible.
The repository needs to be presented to the new server that's joined the pool. Can you explain me ?I find the present/unpresent repository on the repository tab, it's ok now.
Now I can migrate a VM to the new server, all works fine.
I'm waiting the last server to be available (san connection problem).
I will see if the problem is the same.
    Best regards

  • I have working Netgear network. Want to add new Time Capsule and run 2nd network for new apple TV and Imac, and keep the netgear network for my PC and Canon printer.

I have working Netgear N600 dual band router network. The existing network has an XP netbook PC, canon printer, 2 Iphones, Epson Air printer, an Ipad, 3 roku boxes, backup drive. Just bought a new Apple TV box, and time capsule 2T.  I have an IMac on order but don't have it here yet.
My goal is to add new Time Capsule and create 2nd "apple" network for new apple TV, Iphones, Ipad, Epson Air printer and new Imac, and keep the netgear network for my PC, Roku TV boxes, and Canon printer and backup drive.
The Netgear router, the time capsule and new IMac will be on the same desktop, I dont need to backup my netbook PC to time capsule.
    Where do I start?
Which device connects to my modem first, the TC2 or the Netgear?
Is it best wait for the Imac before starting or can the TC2 be set up from my Ipad or PC?
    Thanks.

    It is pretty simple..
Setup the TC in bridge and plug it into the Netgear.. I would leave the netgear as the main router for now, although in the future you can swap things around. The netgear firmware may have issues with bonjour and airplay/airprint?? Does your ipad print ok now?
You can setup the TC using Mac, PC (at least up to win7) or iOS.. they all have airport utility available.
Bridge mode is set differently depending on the version of the utility. This is v5 and how the windows one will look (at least similar to).
    v6 will be as
With the TC in bridge you will still create a wireless network.. and give it a different name from the netgear.. then all the apple devices can connect to it. Use ethernet rather than wireless if the imac is on the desktop with it. Much faster and better for using Time Machine backups.
If you run into any issues.. just post the particular issue. It will take a bit of getting used to, but isn't hard.

  • Major instability with Network Magic for Mac

First of all, I'm a long time LELA user which has been great for quickly gaining an understanding of what is connected to the network.  I like being able to see both connected and disconnected devices.
I thought I would give Network Magic a shot since that is where the future direction is headed.  It has great potential but right now is a major pain in the rear.  I have a rather large home network with roughly 15 devices connected or disconnected at any given time.  At first the network map worked like LELA in that it would show all devices disconnect or connected.  I have two Mac laptops that have different IP and MAC addressses depending on whether they are connected via wired or wireless.
After installing the Mac client on both Mac laptops that's when the frustration began.  It seems that with the Mac client software running on both Macs NM5.5 only wants to recognize one on the map at a time.  Every few minutes I get an alert that a new device has been detected.  But what really happens is the existing laptop drops off the map and the other will pop on.  On the Mac itself it automatically triggers the Network Magic screen to popup which is a major annoyance.  A few minutes will go by and then the process repeats itself.  This laptop will drop of the network map and the other will pop back on.  Again, this pops up the Network Magic window on the 2nd laptop which is an annoyance.
Furthermore, when one laptop drops off the... printers that are shared from another Windows PC are no longer available and accessible on the Mac.  Rest assured... waiting another few minutes the process will repeat itself.
The other major downside is after installing the Mac clients the network map only shows the name of the Mac laptop and is always recognized as one device regardless of IP or MAC address.  I no longer have two seperate IP/MAC devices showing on the map depending on whether it is a wired or wireless connection.    I cannot look at the map and quickly know whether the device is connected via wire or wireless.  Thus when I print a hard copy of all my network devices and settings I dont' get to see the MAC address and details for the non-connected MAC/IP.
Finally, the Mac client does not have the ability to "generate daily computer reports" of the usage.
At this point I am forced to uninstall the Mac clients until a solution for this problem is provided.  I'm glad I checked out the trial version first!

  • Problem with Network Magic/Connecting to my PS3

    Hello!
I've really been enjoying my Cisco Wireless-G WRT-54G2 for the last two months, using it as a wireless hookup to my PS3. However, yesterday morning sometime something on my PC hiccupped or something . . . it's an older '04 Sony Vaio- whenever I try to install Windows XP MS Service Pack 2 (it has 1)- it goes into terminal slowdown . . . but it hasn't had any problems until this morning, when I lost the internet connection on both the land line connected to my PC and the wireless one connected to my PS3. I don't know really what happened, though the only new error that seems to have come up is that my Norton AntiVirus is thtrowing out an "Auto-Protect" error that can't seem to get resolved . . .
So, in order to troubleshoot, since my wireless modem wasn't covered by Cox Communications, I was forced to unhook it from the system and hook the ethernet line directly from the cable modem into my PC (instead of the wireless router). Eventually the problem was solved. Unfortunately, things did not return back to normal when I hooked up the wireless router again. The lights are flashing that the connection on BOTH my wireless connection and my hardline connection to my PC are going strong, but only my PC connection is working. My PS3 is programmed for the system but always gets a DNS when it tries to do anything.
When I use network magic, it inform me that "You are connected to a New Network" called "Local Area Connection - Router" and I cannot access the Map and Status Center features because of this.
What a wonderful way to be spending my turkey day!!
Any suggestions? Is the Norton AntiVirus screwing me up? I'd appreciate any assistance anyone could provide.

It is fairly easy and you should be up before Turkey day
If you know your PS3 has the correct security key for Network Magic (WEP or preferrably WPA WPA2 ) then follow this.
Open Network Magic>Click on (Network) Tasks>Click on Add a Device>(I have network lock on always to prevent intruders) it should disable your network lock>Follow the prompts, make sure your PS3 is on and click on internet or something to make it grab an IP addy, and show it's MAC addy, as well>
When Network Magic's "add a Device Wizard"  starts looking for your PS3's MAC address, and you see a MAC address appear below the "searching" line>
you should be fine(and be able to click Finish) then, as it will be included as a device with access to your Router>It should re-engage your Network Lock.
    Kind regards,
    Dagra
PS. I just started using Network Magic about 2 weeks ago, and got the 5.5 pro, for my home network. It took me about 30 minutes to get it all connected including my PS3, but then I'm an IT Tech.
