AddChild adding Class but not internal shapes

Hi Friends
I am presently developing a site completely class based. N
I am facing a problem .
There were so many addchild (to attach them to stage at
runtime) clips in the library.
I dont want them to be exported over the first frame so in
the LINKAGE PROPERTIES i am unchecking the export in the first
frame option and I am using a base class for them which again
exteds Display.MovieClip class [it must be].
Further In the Publish Settings under ACTION SCRIPT 3.0
settings I have changed the export class in frame to 2 so the Frame
1 of teh movie will be free from classes and Objects so a simple
preloader can be put which will display start from the 0 or may
little bit of 5 percent till 100.
If if activate The export in the first frame then the Frame 1
will become 50% of the movie and my preloader will start from 50
i.e. after completely loading the Frame 1.
But the problem is I have Unchecked and freed the Frame 1
size but the MovieClip objects are not getting added at the run
time. But I am sure that the class Which I have created is
attaching but not the internal objects.
For this i cannot put all the coe but i will explaing here.
I have created a main.fla and in it's library i have a symbol
which was exported for action script.
Class name mc
base class mcClip. // this class will extend the
Display.movieClip class so no problem at all. [this i have doe
because the same class can be used for multiple objects in the
library.]

while runnign teh move the class is adding but teh graphic
shape which i have drawn in the library movielicp is not attaching
to the stage.
I am not getting what happening here.
the library movie clip is not attaching but its base class is
attaching and it is tracing the class.
I hope you got the problem what I have.

Thanks Raymond - I'm afraid the penny ain't dropping for me,
so instead of instantiating the 'Test' class from the timeline and
I do it from the document class (as you should) it works a treat
with no tweaks. I've done as I think you were suggesting. Created
new 'Test' from the timeline, put an empty mc ('holder') on the
stage, passed that as a movieclip variable to the constructor and
holder.addchild(some graphic) and thats all fine - Still don't
understand why one method of instantiating the class is fine the
other causes unpredictable results, at a guess the document class
route of doing so automatically adds it directly to the display
list?

Artist/album names missing when adding folder (but not all of them)

Yesterday I found iTunes couldn't locate the folder where I store MP3 downloads - ie. I got the dreaded '!' alongside most tracks. When I used the Add Folder command I ended up getting a duplicate of virtually every track.
However most of the duplicate tracks were only shown with the track number on the original album plus about 12-15 characters from the title (ie. character string used as a label for the MP3 file). There was no detail of the artist or album.
Given the large number of duplicates involved I decided to clear out the library and have just used Add Folder. Same outcome - 1/3rd of the tracks described in full; the other 2/3rds just show track number and some of the title.
Suggestions on (a) where I'm going wrong; and (b) whether I can use contents in the Previous iTunes library folder to recreate the library would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

As I've already said this question has been answered maybe no one is monitoring this topic but ... I've just worked out the reason the detail is missing is because the tracks which have limited detail are in WAV format.
This is where I am completely lost because they have all been downloaded from the iTunes store or from Amazon as MP3 files, and I'm not aware either of the download functions comes with an add-on called "automatically convert to WAV".
The irony is that this is quite convenient but if anyone can provide an explanation of how it is occurring then I would be interested to hear because I can't figure it out. May still trust my sanity, but not my memory!

SATA Problem: Can see hard disks in USB enclosures, but not internal

I have a mid-2010 macbook pro 13". The other day, it crashed on wake-up, and would not boot. I had a OCZ Vertex SSD boot drive, and the OEM hard drive in an optibay enclosure (replaces the optical drive and used only for data). I used this setup for one year with no problems. After much troubleshooting, I found that I could see the SSD drive by booting into a recovery partition that I have on a USB stick, and putting the SSD in a USB enclosure. Then disk utility could see it, but not mount it. The label on the boot partition was "lion", but it changed to "disk1s2". I was able to repair the drive using disk utility, and then boot from it using the USB enclosure.
Once booted, I could still see the OEM hard drive with no problems. So I powered down and put the SSD back inside the case and rebooted. It booted in safe mode, but it booted fine. The next time I rebooted, it would not boot. I swapped the OEM drive and the SSD drive, and then the sytem booted with no problems and I was able to use both drives.
One day later, I noticed my OEM drive was no longer mounted in OSX. I took it out, put it in a USB enclosure, and OSX could see it fine. There were no errors on the disk. I put it back in the macbook and reboot but OSX couldn't see it.
So, the primary SATA port seems to be working intermittently. Three times now, a drive has stopped working on this port. Each time, I could use the drive in an external enclosure (or using the other SATA port normally used for the optical drive. Does anyone have any ideas? Could it just be the cable? It is the motherboard?
I'm trying to make this computer last at least another month or so because I need to upgrade to a larger model, and am holding out for the 2012 release.

Could be something as simple as the cable...they have been known to go bad. Got an Apple store nearby? If so, it's a cheap/easy replacement.

Can I See Recently Added Tracks, but not in a Playlist?

Here's my problem: I import about 30 wav files into iTunes. I then need to convert them to AAC versions, and delete the original WAV files.
However, there's no way to have iTunes only display the recently added files in the library. Yes, I can see them in the Recently Added Playlist, but I can't delete the WAV files from there.
The only way I've found to do it is to manually add something like "xx" to the titles, then go to the Music library, search for "xx" and delete those tunes.

You said I could copy the unwanted tunes to a regular playlist and delete them there. But I cannot delete them there, I can only remove them from that playlist. If I want to delete a tune, I must select "Music," in which case I would have to manually find the tunes I want to delete.
Am I misunderstanding?

Adding image BUT not overwriting field info? Or Not saving name to DB?

I've got a database that calls the image by a link using an image path:
/images/jewelry1.jpg
The image field contains the full path in its thumbnail field or its full
size directory.
I've created an insert record behavior which allows the client to create the
path, but I want her to be able to upload the images.
Right now, the image upload and resize behavior demands a table field, but I
can't use the thumbnail field or it will overwrite the
/thumbnail/jewelry1.jpg with the image name jewelry1.jpg and I'll lose the
path.
How can I add images to the directories without updating the the wrong
fields? The same problem exists for the multiple file/image uploads. It not
only asks for the images, but then wants to save the names to a database.

I've two more queries. How do I store this image in a database. I'm using Access database and defined a field as OLE Object which allows me to store as either Linked or embedded object. Should I store the captured image directly or the buffered Image.

Web server works externally, but not internally

Hi I'm kind of new to this.
I got my web server working exteranlly, but within my internal network, the webserver only works if I input the actual ip address and not www.example.com.
I have a Cisco RVS4000 set as a gateway and a Mac Mini with Server App 10.8x. My guess is that I have to enable some port. I followed the well known TCP/UDP Ports (https://discussions.apple.com/article/TS1629), but I still can't get it to work internally.
Any thoughts on why it's not working interanlly?

Lol...After fixing one issue, another one came up. This time it has to do with the name I am using. For example:
www.exmaple.com and tm1.example.com (both are hosted with different ips)
Since they are both using the same name: exmaple.com, I cannot access the www.exmaple.com, but I can access the tm1.example.com

Port forwarding externally but not internally

I've got an AExtremeBS at home and at work. I've been port forwarding http for a while with no problems internally or externally. I've recently configured a new web server which internally is hosted on port 80. I've enabled port forwarding from 8080 to 80 on the AEBS and it works fine externally. However, if I try to browse the site internally using the FQDN:8080 of my AEBS, it does not work.
I can check both external and internal and the external is still working while the internal is not.
Any ideas?
One idea would be to move my internal listener to 8080 and just port forward 8080 to 8080 (I would just redirect 8080 to the internalIP:8080 rather than map 8080 to internal:80).

You might be onto something....but it's probably not what you think, but then again, I just confused myself again.
To get OD working I had to add my Leopard Server to my DNS settings. The Leopard Server required that it resolves the FQDN of the AEBS to itself (the internal IP address). However, everything else on the network resolves the FQDN to the external IP address.
If I nslookup on my FQDN, from my mac (which has the Leopard Server as it's DNS server) I get the internal IP address of the Leopard Server. However, if I go to another machine inside my network which does not query DNS from the Leopard Server, I get my external IP and when I browse to extneral:8080 it port forwards correctly. So it wasn't the AEBS, it was my particular mac and freaking Leopard Server.
So, it's settled, Leopard Server strikes again. I can't believe that Apple released this POS. I had a much easier time with Ubuntu 6.06 on my old 300 MHz blueberry iMac.

Imported PowerPoint slides, added highlights, but not showing in publishing

Hi...I'm a little confused. I imported a 15 slide powerpoint
file into Captivate and added audio, a few highlights and several animated buttons. I published 1 version and the animation showed up, but when I recreated another project, I get none of the animation showing up in the preview. Any suggestions?

Mini boots with new cloned drive externally, but not internally.

Hi.
I bought a new, bigger and faster HD for my early 2009 Mac mini (10.8.2) and cloned my original drive with Carbon Copy Cloner, making sure to include the hidden recovery partition. Using a USB to SATA adapter, I can boot from the new drive no problem. However, when I open up the mini and replace the old drive with the new one, all I get is the folder with question mark that blinks. I've tried holding down option when rebooting to get to the recovery partition, but all I get is the WiFi log in, no drives or any other options to choose from. If my Time Machine drive is connected, that does appear but fails to do anything if I click on it. (When the old drive is in, I can access the new drive just fine, and can even boot into the new drive's recovery mode.) Is there some step I'm missing, or some troubleshooting I can do that I'm not aware of?

Is it possible to transform a Paint but not the Shape it fills?

Is it possible to apply a transform (i.e., AffineTransform) to the Paint that is used to fill a Shape, without applying the transform to the Shape itself? I don't see a way to do that.
I.e., when the Graphics2D transform is modified, it applies to both the Shape being filled and to the Paint that fills it. I would like a way of leaving the Shape alone, while still rotating or scaling the Paint effect within it.

You do the transform on an image, then clip that according to the shape, then use that clip for the fill, or make a mask of the shape and have a transparency for the shape--over lay that onto your image that has been transformed. In any case you have to have discrete objects--an image and a shape, not an image with a shape in it already.

Added Memory, but not showing up in System Profilier

I have an iBook G4 1.2Ghz/12-inch screen laptop. Bus speed 133 MHz. It has 256 MB built-in memory. I added a stick of 512 that is appropriate for this computer. (PC 2100) It is seated correctly, and the clips are in place.
However, when I go to the System Profiler, it still only shows my Built-In Memory, and shows that the DIMM1/J7 Memory slot is Empty.
Is there something I need to do to get my computer to recognize the added hardware?
The odd thing is, my computer really does seem to be using the added memory, as I can now have multiple applications open without slowing or freezing.

You are correct. When the Mac starts up it checks for RAM, no configuration needed on your part. I would suggest taking the chip out and putting it back in to make certain it's pushed in correctly. It should actually "snap" or "click" softly into place.

Stuck in dock connecter mode but can also be switched to AirPlay and head phone jack works but not internal speaker?

My Iphone 4S is all the time in dock connector mode. This give me no sound at all then ringtones. If I sett Music to use AirPlay, I get internal speaker to work. Then I have sound when I get SMS and other "biips". Else My 4S is quiet. I can lisen to music in my headphones and it "biips" there.

This is a hardware issue.
To resolve this issue you need to try some unorthodox methods to get some results. Try to insert the headset back into the port and "wiggle" it while pulling it out and then inserting it back in. Try this a couple of times and see if this helps.
The reason for this is because there's a "lever" or spring mechanism that got stuck. No hard reset or soft reset will fix this (I speak from experience).

Adding Java Fact Classes not erroring, but not adding the facts/classes

I'm attempting to build Rule dictionaries modeled after maven modules of the project I'm working on. First I created a dictionary "common" with common classes added as Java facts. Second I created a dictionary "domain". In the "domain" dictionary I linked the "common" dictionary and added some domain specific classes as java facts. Finally I created a "product" dictionary. The product dictionary links the "domain" dictionary. When I look at the facts in the "product" dictionary I see all the facts from "common" and "domain" linked in. When I attempt to add more facts to the "product" dictionary I can find the classes in the classpath without a problem. However when I select the classes I wanted added as java facts and click "OK" in JDevelopers 'Create Java Fact' Dialog none of the facts are added. I cannot find any error or explanation for why they were not added. I believe I have all class dependencies of these java facts already added in the "common" and "domain" dictionaries I have linked in. Any help in how to resolve this would be appreciated - or even some general guidelines on how to build and maintain dictionaries.

I've added in a new field inside the ITAB internal table, but it wouldn't appear in the t_cat, only all the old fields will appear. What have i done wrong?

Facing similar kind of issue.. added one field to the existing internal table. This is not getting populted by the field catalog merge FM. Tried with the suggested solution also of running programs BALVBUFDEL,
BCALV_BUFFER_DEL_SHARED then logging off and logging in..
But the newly added field is not getting populated. Any suggestions would be of great help.
