Adding contacts

When trying to add a contact, I'm told I need to send a request to the person who has already emailed me her contact name. How does this work?

Can you please explain what DOES happen when he tried to add a contact?
He opens the Address Book.
He presses the Menu key > New Contact.
What happens then?

Adding contacts to my new 8900 is not working.

adding contacts from oultlook and /or outlook express to my new 8900 is not working. i tried everything from removing and re-installing the desktop manager to removing the battery of the device. nothing seems to be working.

Ah, very helpful when we have the complete information.
Desktop Manager 4.7 is not compatible with Outlook 2000, so that won't work. You will need to use DM version 4.2, Service Pack 2; or upgrade your Outlook to 2003 or better.
For Express, it should work with Outlook Express 6. Check your advanced sync settings configuration and make sure you have it set to two-way sync and to notify you.

When I plugged it in my computer it started to sync with iTunes and it whipped all my data out. I have no photos contacts nothing, so I then in a rage reset to factory defult and I cannot even listen to music I purchased because it skips. I just want my phone back

Was this the very first time you ever plugged the phone into that computer?
Did you pay attention to the prompts you were given when you plugged it in?
Did you have iCloud backups turned on before you did this? I hope so... If you did, restore the phone from the last iCloud backup from before you wiped it. If not, then the photos, etc. are gone. Apps and music can be re-downloaded.

that's the fun thing:
You add your own property (and it'll be invisible to outlook users, not to worry).
Extended Properties allow you to define custom property on Exchange Items. And it has a
method for setting those too.
Here's a short post doing a very simple intro on using Extended Properties.
Glen's Exchange Blog is a generally useful resource when working with EWS, I'm confident you'll be able to find lots of tips there as well.

Will newly added contacts and messages gets deleted after restoring old backup on iphone..??

Hey everyone, i backup my iphone 4 a month ago after that , i defeated the final remaining enemy 'ryth' in infinity blade 2
than after 3 months i bought my new 4th gen ipad 32gb with cellular i installed unfinity blade 2 on it an when launches it it started from begining, don't know why icloud saves didn't worked. But the problem is that now on my iphone it also sarted from begining. Some discussion said backup your phone for this problem but if i backup my phone from that one month old backup will it delete my new added contacts, new messages on phone and on whatsapp?
and if anyone have solution for IB2 without restoring the hone that would be great....! Plz halp...!!

* Your contacts are part of the backup to preserve recent calls and favorites lists. Back up your contacts to a supported personal information manager (PIM), iCloud, or another cloud-based service to avoid any potential contact data loss.

my + symbol is gone for adding contacts. i restored my phone and it's still not back... any suggestions?

install the Desktop Manager. you can download it from the software section of the Blackberry.com website.
take the one "without Media manager" and install it on your PC.
then after openingthe Desktop Manager :
first, do a backup of what's in your Blackberry Storm
then you can do a manual synchronization, just choose ascii file and follow the instructions.

Nokia 925 adding contacts

I am new to the nokia 925 and new to smartphones - actually purchased the nokia for it's call quality and the gps - seems to do both very well - anyway is there a way on my pc perhaps through either my nokia or microsoft accounts which I have set up but not done anything with so far to type in a list of contacts and upload to the phone -
Would be so much easier to type thirty contacts on the pc rather than trying to use the Nokia -

Newly added contacts don't appear in my contact list.

I recently upgraded from a iPhone 3GS to a 4S. When I add a new contact on my phone it does not appear in my contact list. If I go to a new text message and type the name it appears as a suggestion and I can select it that way. I'm unable to edit the contact as it does not appear under my contact list. I have synced in through iTunes and even restored it. The numbers still do not show up in the contact list. I've also attempted to log into iCloud and the names do not appear there either. I've turned the contacts off under the iCloud settings and nothing changed. I still cannot see my newly added contacts in my contact list. Please help as I have tried everything I know and have no luck. It alsmot feels as though my numbers are being added to a "hidden" place. Thanks in advance!

I've never done a sync with any program other than iTunes and iCloud. My groups are displayed in the left corner and they are all selected (I acutally just made up the groups today while messing with this whole issue so there aren't even contacts added to groups yet) and showing.

To make sure we are on the same page, when you are creating contacts they are not going to iCloud. Start with the article below and scroll down to the Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Outlook) section to check the settings of iCloud and if any Outlook Add-ins may be causing issues.

Apparantly it is, On My Mac contacts don't appear in iCloud, anywhere.
Put all your contacts on all of your devices in iCloud (assuming that's where you want them to be)
Go to www.icloud.com, login and see what you actually have in the account.

Force iPhone to put newly added contacts under iPhone contact group

I want to be able to have my iphone put a newly added contact under my iphone contacts and not all contacts. Is there a way to force iphone to do this? I am using mobile me, think I remember hearing someone mention a setting in itunes for this. Don't have this option with mobile me.

I agree with Oregon Farmer. All Contacts contain all contacts from every created group (i.e. "iPhone contacts"), so once you add a contact into "iPhone Contacts", the same info is placed in the "All Contacts" group. Sort of like "Music" in library and playlists.
There used to be an option on the iTunes, but from this website, it suggests that option was for the original iPhone http://www.apple.com/mobileme/setup/iphone/mac.html
I was browsing around looking for a way to add a new contact (i.e. from my recent calls list) directly into the "iPhone Contacts", rather than it going automatically only into the "All Contacts" list. If anyone has an idea, I'd appreciate it. I'm also using Mobileme.

ADDRESS BOOK CRASHES WHEN ADDING CONTACT

I've been having this problem since Mac OS X v.10.5. I have since (for other purposes) wiped clean my Macbook various times, updated it to Snow Leopard, and wiped it again a couple of times. After each wipe or update, the Address Book application works fine, but after a couple of weeks it starts to crash.
This happens when I try to add a new contact. I click on the + button and am able to enter the card info, but when I click + again or close the application or anything else, Address Book crashes (with the usual afterward prompt of sending an error report, etc.). When I open it again, the added contact is not there.
PLEASE help me. I use Address Book quite a lot and it's truly bothersome to have it not working.

When you reinstall, do you also restore your contacts from a backup?
If so, you may have brought over whatever it is that is causing you problems.
First, open Address Book and create an Address Book archive (File menu, export…)
Second, go into your user/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder and delete the
AddressBook-v22.abcddb file. It is an index to the metadata (vCards).
Third, go into your user/Library/Preferences and delete the com.apple.addressbook.plist file. That is the Address Book preferences. So, you will have to edit them back to your liking if everything starts working correctly.
Now, try Address Book and see if it works ok.
If you are syncing with MobileMe, you might consider resetting sync services if the problem returns.
Also, can you post a crash report? You can find them in Console, look in the CrashReporter section under ~/Library/Logs--just copy and paste it here.

Search recently added contacts.

Hello everyone.
I am new member of this community and hope that someone here will help me to sort out my problem.
I have Backberry Pearl and I have 2520 contacts saved in it. But about 10 months before, I had added 2 very important contacts in it but now I had forgotten the name and number of the contacts I saved.
So, is there is any solution to find recently added contacts or is there is any third party application because I always face these types of problems.

There is no solution for this in Blackberry.
But this is possible only i9f you install Zebrost Phonebook i.e.. ZPB Software in your Blackberry from www.zebrost.com or directly from your Blackberry.
After installing zpb, you should follow the following steps for searching recently added contacts from zpb-
1. Go to zpb contact list from your blackberry.
2. Suppose you want to search the contacts that you added in last 10 days, then type a#10, for contacts added in last 15 days type a#15 and so on in your contact list.

Make that four.
If you have any commercially advertised/available antivirus software installed on your Mac, completely uninstall this per the instructions on the AV developer's website.
Antivirus software can slow down the normal operation of OS X and can negatively affect OS X performance and operation.
Do you have apps like MacKeeper or any other maintenance apps like CleanMyMac 1 or 2, TuneUpMyMac or anything like these apps, installed on your Mac? These types of apps, while they appear to be helpful, can do too good a job of data "cleanup" causing the potential to do serious data corruption or data deletion and render a perfectly running OS completely dead and useless leaving you with a frozen, non-functional Mac.
Plus, these type of apps aren't really necessary. They really aren't.
There are manual methods to clear off unnecessary data off of your Mac that are safer and you have complete control over your Mac and not just leave a piece of auto cleaning software in charge of clearing off data off of your Mac.
Their potential of causing OS X issues outweighs the implied good and benefits these types of hard drive or memory "cleaning" apps are written to do.
Plus, the software companies that write these apps make it hard to easily uninstall these apps if something DOES go wrong and these apps work in a way where you have no recovery or revert function to return your Mac back to its former, working state in the event something does go wrong.
It is best to never, EVER download and install these types of apps.
The risk to your system and data is too great a risk!
Search the web to learn how to correctly and properly uninstall these kinds of apps.

Now when I go to my address book on YouTube it freezes and I often have to use CTL + ALT + DLT to stop it and start over.
Is this a Firefox or YouTube problem? I tried looking at this page on IE and the same thing happens.

You are telling us by yourself that is a Youtube problem, because it happens also on IE.
Anyway that may be an issue with your e-mail account. Maybe you have too many e-mails and YouTube gets so busy trying to add all of them. If you hadn't added them already, you could export that directions to CSV and divide the CSV in parts so YouTube wouldn't have so much work. How many directions you wanted to add?

Newly added contacts suddenly become strangers (not shared their details with you)

A newly added contact suddenly disappears after a few minutes, it's still present in my contact list, but with the gray question mark and "this person has not shared their details with you", even though in the conversation itself it says "<friend> has shared contact details with <myself>". On the other side, it seems like none of this is happening and my friend can still see my status as if I was their contact (which I am). After re-sending the contact request multiple times (which is instantly accepted, it doesn't seem to even display on my friend's side, he just instantly becomes my contact again) it seems to have sorted itself out and that person is now in my contacts, hopefully for good. Now yesterday I added a new contact and the same thing happens, she appears as a stranger about 10 minutes after accepting my contact request, even though it seemed fine on the mobile app while she was online, but now even mobile considers her as not part of my contacts, and also her profile picture isn't displaying on the mobile app. Note : there is already a thread about this in the Skype for Windows Desktop section, however since this problem has clearly nothing to do with the client you're using and is related to the platform/whatever software runs on Microsoft's servers, I'm reposting this here. Skype for Windows Desktop version 6.20.0.104 running on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and Skype for iPhone version "idon'tknowwhat because there's no "about" page apparently" running on iOS 8.0.2, iPhone 5S. My Skype account isn't linked with any Facebook nor Microsoft account (it was, but it's been unlinked about two months ago). Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have a similar problem to Andre (from original post a week ago below). I only use Skype to communicate with a personal friend who has recently been posted abroad (Europe) to work. I always sign in via my Microsoft account and have done since Microsoft & Skype merged and I linked the two together. My contact does the same. As my accounts are linked, my friend shows up in my contacts both as a Skype contact and also a Messenger contact. When we communicate, it is normally always via our Skype names although I can see them online under both names. On Friday night however, they came online but shortly afterwards, I noticed that the grey question mark had appeared next to their Skype name saying 'Person has not shared their contact details with you'. They are still showing up ok under their Messenger name as it appears as offline, so I have been a bit confused why this has happened and I haven't yet had a chance to speak to my friend to ask them. I decided to look at the Skype help forum and came across this post by Andre who has had a similar problem, although he says it has happened with a couple of new contacts but his problem has now been resolved. I was hoping someone could help me and give me some advice as to what I should do now. I have checked my computer and have the latest Skype version for desktop installed. I am using Internet Explorer 11; Windows 7 Home version - 64 bit. I also have the Skype app on my android smartphone which has the most recent updated version. I don't really use Skype on my phone although I did log-in on late Friday afternoon but didn't stay on long before I signed out. I have read in posts in the past about corrupted files etc on Skype but because I don't know much about these things, I don't like to mess about with the programs that are installed on my computer because I don't know what I'm doing. The person who responded to Andre's query was a staff moderator called Aimi, who had previously told him to send the name of the contact in question who had the grey question mark appear beside them.
