Adding personal subfolders in Mail

How do I add folders to my inbox (like I used to have in Entourage). If this isn't a std feature, is there a workaround?

Hmm...the only option I had here was "smart folder", but I was looking for the kind of folder I had in Outlook/Entourage, which allows me to title a folder and manually file items there (e.g, work, home, kids).
I did some putzing and discovered the solution, though:
*Go to Mailbox in the menu bar
*Select "New Mailbox"
The mailboxes really behave like outlook folders. They are nameable, moveable, and allow you to file messages manually.
Thanks,
Blake

  • Yes/No using personalized printer e-mail?

I'm assuming HP has a problem on their end with the new printer e-mail personalization, but whom do you notify?
I have two c310a printers that worked until I personalized their e-mail address when the service became available-now I get a return e-mail saying the job has been received, but it does not appear on the ePrint website under job history, and after a few days, still no test prints on either of my printers.
Trying to find out if others are also having this problem, so sound off with a yes/no if you've had any luck with the new service!
If others are having the same problem, I'll assume it's on HP's end (mebbe they're aware of it)?
If it's working for others, guess I'll try to troubleshoot on my end, but I don't really know what I could do under the circumstances?
    This question was solved.

Problem solved using following steps (c310a printer):
    From ePrint website, removed printer.
From printer control panel, removed web services (access using ePrint icon).
Leave printer panel at this page, and wait a few seconds.
Re-enable web services from front panel of printer.
Wait for printer to print instruction page with new self-generated e-mail address.
Go back to ePrint website and added new printer using self-generated e-mail address.
Sent myself a test e-mail using self-generated addresses, which worked on both printers.
Customized e-mail address now that ePrint working again (with self-generated e-mail address).
One printer still did not work, but did so after unplugging, waiting a minute, then plugging back in.
Don’t remember if I did the power down/up before or after personalizing e-mail address.
Basically,  I followed steps for someone adding a new printer, but for some reason since I was already on the service, simply customizing my e-mail address did not seem to work, even after trying the power down/up step.
Everything seems to work-only problem is I’ve lost my two preferred personalized e-mail addresses for 6 months? (until I can try registering them again).

  • "On my Mac" folder including all my subfolders in Mail have disappeared after Yosemite install! HELP!

"On my Mac" folder including all my subfolders in Mail have disappeared after OS X Yosemite version 10.10.2 install! What should I do?

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
              Envelope Index
              ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Can I set up personal folders in Mail?

Can I set up personal folders in mail like I do in yahoo mail or outlook? I have multiple clients at a time and would like to set up folders for each one. I find it irritating to scroll through all the emails looking for what I need.
    Thanks in advance.

  • If I attach a scanned document to a mail, it's impossible for the persons receiving my mail to open the file

I'm a MacBook Pro user and scanning documents with an hp Officejet 7500A.
If I send a mail with an attached file, SCANNED document, the person receiving my mail will be totaly unable to open it.
If I send the very same mail, always with my Mac computer and attaching the very same scanned document but using my professional mailbox wich is NO MAC MAIL, things are working perfectly well.mail.
    Thanks for your help,
    Ph.

Try right clicking the file on your desktop, and compressing it, then send it to the intended recepient. Of course you will want to advise them to extract the document from the *.zip file afterwards. A ZIP file is sort of like a briefcase for other data, you put it inside and send that fully intact for the other person to open. Good luck, let me know if it fails.

  • Adding addresses from "sent" mail to address book?

I've been getting an enormous amount of spam since years now, too much even for Mail's bayesian filters to deal with. I had the idea of separating my mail from "known" and "unknown" senders into sub-folders, but I am having difficulty finding a way to set this up.
The best way I can come up with is to add all "known" contacts to the Address Book and have Mail filter out "unknown" mails based on that - the most reliable source of "known" addresses I would like to add to Address Book would be the mails I have answered or sent, or in other words, the "sent" folder. Yet I can find no way of adding "to" addresses (from mails in that folder) to Address Book, only "from" addresses (or "senders") - and since these mails are in the "sent" folder, the "sender" would be... me.
Has anyone tried to do something similar, or is there another way around this?
    Thanks for any advice, best,
    Sefu.

The Mail.app stores all message recipients in the list of Previous Recipients and the autofill feature pulls from the Address Book and the list of Previous Recipients.
At the Mail.app menu bar, go to Window and select Previous Recipients.
A previous recipient already entered in the Address Book has a vCard icon to the left of the name or email address. You can remove a previous recipient from the list or add a previous recipient to the Address Book that is not already entered.

  • HT1277 i have added my company e-mail add into my Macbook i receive mails but i cant send e-mails , anyone knows why ? i have tried all options in outgoing mail settings but it wont work !!

i have added my company e-mail add into my MacBook , i recive e-mails but i cant send e-mails , anyone knows why ? i have tried all options in outgoing mail settings but it wont work !!

    Hello,
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • Google added as Exchange Account (mail, contacts, cal), issues with contact #'s resolving to Names.

Google added as exchange account (mail, contacts, calendar), all works except contact correlation. Meaning somebody calls me, it's in the contact list but does not show name just the #. Same for outbound calls..search contacts, tap #, phone shows I'm dialing # versus contact name. This is completely goofy. I had a previous emplorers Exchange account working perfectly before I had to delete it. I removed all email accounts from iPhone and started fresh with adding Google as Exchange 'type' account.

Ok I fixed this problem. Within Google under contacts I had imported 1,200+ contacts and they all showed up there, on my iPad and iPhone. But on the phone name and # would not correlate. I discovered that by editing a contact (within Google contacts page) it would mark it as 'My Contacts' in addition to being Imported on xx/xx/xx. Once I did this, magically my iphone call log would display the name of the contact I edited/reclassified as 'My Contacts'. So I reclassified all the contacts as 'My Contacts' and now have full functionality. End of **** story and hope this helps somebody else.

  • Does anyone know how to block a specific person's e-mail acccount in Mail??

I am trying to block a specific person from sending me e-mail. They insist on sending me that forwarding crap that I hate, and refuse to ignore my pleas to stop. So I would love to be able to block their e-mail address from my Mail account so I won't be receiving mail from them any longer.
Is this possible to do in Mail?
    Thanks,
    Suzanne

    Perform the following actions:
    (select)DELETE
    click OK then YES.
    Done.
In the panel on the right side of this page.

  • Personalized emails in Mail???

Is there a relatively simple way of sending emails in a 'house' style ie with my logo?
In its simplest form I would like to include a banner along the bottom of each email which will appear in as many other mail clients as possible. and the most complicated version would be a vertical banner to the left as per all my headed paper / invoices etc.
As far as I can tell the Signature section only involves adding simple text...? otherwise I have looked at html creation but this seems a complicated step as I have no html experience...
Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.....?

    Crispian wrote:
Indeed images in signatures do seem to work, thanks.
However is there a simple option for external html editing? ie an iWeb equivalent or is it straight to dreamweaver and so on???
The equinux stationary for mail would be ideal if I could personalize it....! Is there a simple html page I could add as stationary???
no. first, stationery and signatures are two different things in Mail. there is some default stationery available by pressing the stationery button in the toolbar of a new message window. However, the default stationery can't be edited (but you can create your own) and you can't use it in replies.
as for editing html signatures there is nothing built in. you can hack it if you want to though. create a dummy signature in mail. then go to the directory /users/username/library/mail/signatures and locate the webarchive with your signature. then make an html file using your favorite html editor. put whatever you need in it. save it and open it in safari. then save it as a webarchive from safari and overwrite the dummy signature you made with thatw ebarchive.
    thanks for your help.

  • Personal folder in mail account

How to create personal folder so that i can save important files in i cloud or skydrive

You want to create a folder in your email? To do that, open Mail and press the Back button until you're as far back as you can go. Select the account (not the inbox) in which you want to make a folder. Then tap "edit" and go from there.

  • Sync Personal IMAP E-mail

On my iphone, all my e-mails would sync because it was imap. From what i understand, the way i set up my personal e-mail on my blackberry is imap. why is it that i only have e-mails displayed from the date that i set up the e-mail account on my blackberry?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Because that's the way BB's work. They do not replicate the entire mailbox under any circumstances, even with BES. They are designed to begin forwarding new emails to the BB at the point of configuring the email account.
    Good luck!

  • Adding another mailbox to Mail

I have just upgraded to 10.6 on my business computer and configured Mail with exchange support, and it works fine.
I do have one question though, regarding adding other mail boxes. I have my own company inbox, but I also need access to other in-house mail boxes, but haven't found out how I can add them.
Have anyone tried this, and know how it's done?

    William,
I dont have the password for that account I'm trying to add. I didn't need it when setting up in entourage. I found the instructions for entourage and it's called a delegate. They authorize me as a delegate, then I type their username in and I'm can then send email on their behalf. I see in iCal there is a tab for delegation, however there isn't in mail.app. I think maybe they left it off? I hope not.
So now with that bit of news, no password is required, what now?
I don't believe that Apple's Mail application has a "delegate" function.
If it's true that other mail applications will allow someone to "impersonate" another with no password, that sounds dangerous to me.

  • How to batch update the person details in mail store

I have a text file containing new person details. How can I add them into the mail store in iMS 5.2? Pls advise and thanks.

As Chad says, this is more of an LDAP question.
Best way to do it is by creating a batch script.
Create a test user for your mail system.
Determine what attributes this test user has in your directory by running an LDIF export.
Then given a CSV file of users, write a script that populates an LDIF file with relevant attributes for each user.
    Then import the LDIF.
